Great plastic and photo-etch kit of a classic WW2 aircraft. The major aircraft parts are plastic and there are photo-etch parts for the cockpit included in the box.The Sunderland was a flying boat and Luftwaffe pilots nicknamed it "The Flying Porcupine" because of it's ability to bring defensive guns to bear in any direction.There was an incident on 03-APR-1940 where a single Sunderland was attacked by six Junkers JU-88s. The Sunderland destroyed one and damaged a second so badly it was forced to land; the remaining four JU-88 crews felt compelled to leave the Sunderland alone. If you built the old Airfix model of the Sunderland then you will be in for a very nice surprise if you buy this Italeri version. The detailing is superb, panel lines beautifully moulded, no flash worth mentioning - basically a serious modellers dream kit ! A good set of PE parts which give a greatly detailed cockpit and decals to allow six different versions/squadrons, 3 RAF, 1 Ceylon, 1 Senegal and an Australian Air Force. Clear coloured instructions and it even comes with an anchor and rope and a rear end trolley if you are building the shore based version. Worth every penny in my opinion.

You need to read the instructions carefully especially when fitting the floats as it's nearly impossible to fit the "wires" to the floats using what they term "stirred plastic" , I used strong thread and fitted it before I glued the wing together as that was the only way I could do it and I had to drill extra holes to thread the thread through. The metal fittings need careful bending and are not easy so be prepared for a bit of frustration especially if you're not experienced. But all in all the finished product is good but you need to adapt the instructions quite a lot.
