I'm in to robotic vacuum cleaners with Dyson, Neato and iRobot cleaners and even imported iRobot cleaners from the US when they were only available there. There were always terrible issues with the voltage - 110 volts in the US compared to 220 here!I am new to floor mopping robots though. I've looked at them in the past, and especially the iRobot versions, but have always questioned their efficiency. The 390T is currently the top of the range of mopping robots available from iRobot. You get accessories that apparently are not included in all version. This includes a fast charging base and a mopping head - the standard machine only has a sweeping head. You also get a small box to help the unit navigate a room, two washable brushing cloths and two washable mopping cloths, a plug and comprehensive instructions. It seems that the latest 390T models feature a Lithium Ion battery which is a big plus over the NiMH battery earlier models seem to com with. It’s worth checking if you buy a 390T that is has the lithium battery which has a much longer life. It should be noted though that whilst the Amazon page suggests the unit uses a lithium battery iRobot suggests it’s a NiMH which is disappointing if correct.I was surprised that I actually needed to read the instructions to get the unit to work. It is not entirely intuitive to work out how the charger works or how the two different cleaning heads should be used. That said, with a quick start guide and a more detailed manual, there are plenty of instructions and it really takes only around 10 minutes to get the unit working. You do need to fully charge the robot before first use.In use this robot is different, and maybe less advanced than the iRobot vacuums. The latest vacuums use LiDAR technology to navigate around a room. The 390T uses a 'North Star' cube to help it navigate. This is a small block-like unit with two C-sized batteries (supplied) which needs to be turned on and positioned facing the ceiling towards the middle of the room. This is a bit of a faff but seems to work satisfactorily, just about. I have an island in my kitchen which seems to cause some issues and on some occasions the unit will simply clean only a portion of the room for no apparent reason. The lack of an app means that you can’t actually see where it’s cleaning, or not, unless you watch the thing! Equally the vacuums have wifi and an associated app and can be activated remotely and using a timer. None of this works for the mop. Nor does the mop return to to the charger to recharge. In use the unit is surprisingly effective, but surprising because in the sweep mode all the unit does is systematically pass a micro fibre cloth over the floor. There is no where for dirt to be collected apart from on the cloth. Robotic vacuums work better. In mopping mode the mop head is filled with water, but the amount of water is tiny at 100ml and again there's no collection for dirty water. The unit more thoroughly mops compared to brushing. More positively the unit is almost silent in operation and covers rooms fairly well - although you'll obviously need to move any clutter around the room - and note my comments above that sometimes it, almost randomly, will only clean part of a room. There seems to be no way of preventing the unit from moving to a tiled or wooden floor into a carpeted area. The vacuums can be restricted by using infrared beam generators or within the app software. This does not seem to be an option with the 390. This could be a real issue for some.Running costs are pretty low - the cloths are washable and re-useable.Overall though this unit does not clean my tiled or wooden floor as well as a mop does. Even using it daily does not produce brilliant results. The lack of remote control or an app, and the need to use the North Star guidance system all detract from the product. So does the fact that you need to manually recharge the unit and it will only clean as long as the battery last - the vacuums can return to a base station to recharge in mid-cleaning cycle. That said, the unit is much cheaper than a good iRobot vacuum and battery life is good. I'd be tempted to try the 390T and see how well it performs. As a robot enthusiast I'd just about rate the mop as a four star product, but only just. For other people I suspect this is a three-star product.IRobot make other models that are worth consideration.

I am a big robot cleaning fab; maybe i want to be Zorg in the Fifth Element if i grown up; or maybe its just i am to lazy to actually get a hoover out regularly and clean up. I bought the predesccor to the iRobot 390t in 2013; and it has done brilliant service cleaning the wooden floors in my appartment. Despite it being in no way as convenient as the Roomba; which you can schedule cleaning times and takes itself home when its battery runs low - you have to manually charge it and set it to clean each time. Unlike the roomba its very quiet; you can use it and be on the phone in the room as it will not disturb; just gently wooshes up and down the floor.I chose the original braava over the spraying model as i decided it wasnt a good idea to spray water over real wood floors. The 390t is a clear evolution from the original version charging has been improved thanks to a new dock - though you do have to pick it up and put it in the dock - but its more convenient that flipping it over and plugging a power brick in - though it does take up space on teh counter / shelf. As a robot fan i learn that a larger number of cleanings made for a better environment; what surprised me was how much dust and dirt the Braava picked up even after a good roomba'ing. The 390t is no different; used with the supplied microfibre clothes dry it picks up hair and dust that roomba missed each time; and with the wet tank it does a passable job at mopping - and like the rooma whilst it might not work first time over a few weeks it clearly makes a difference. i found with the original braava and the 390t that using a sanitising, cleaning cloth was also very effective at dusting and just doing a light clean. Lots of light cleans add up; and whilst it isnt getting thick marks or stains up in one pass; regular use eradices all general accumulation bar accidents like spills or scuff marks. The Braava comes with a navigation cube like its predecssor that helps it make clean tracks up and down as it cleans the room; which is good with the dusting attachment; and speeds up cleaning. It does a decent enough job without it too. Given the new charging dock; im surprised they didnt make it do double duty - if only to get rid of the need for the batteries. For general dusting duties its a shame iRobot havent put a scheduler into the Braava so that you can roomba the floor and then dust it to get it more clean - the vertical charging dock would preclude this. For mopping duty the design of the reservoir system needs you to fill it and put the robot to immediate use otherwise there would be a puddle where you left it. If you have the original braava i cant see a stand out reason to upgrade; its more of the same in a new color - only the charging dock stands out as a change. In the bathroom the other mopping robot the 240 that sprays water does a better job in my opinion. If you are new to being lazy or you to want to be Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg then its a great addition to doing less housework.

This floor cleaning robot reminds me of a Mac Mini on wheels - it's about the same size and weight and even looks very similar. Setup is simple - in the box you'll find two magnetic "mop heads", one for dry/static cleaning, one for damp, plus reusable cloths for each. Once charged up via the caddy included, wrap the cloth around the chosen head (filling the reservoir if you're after a damp clean) and then put it onto the robot.Actually using the robot is simplicity itself. Put the navigation cube on a table from where it can see the ceiling and point it towards the centre of the room, then put the robot on the floor nearby and pick wet or dry mode. Then leave it to its work.It will patiently and efficiently work its way around the room. It does a good job in both modes - though bear in mind that it's not going to be the same as a mop and bucket since it only uses a little water in damp mode. The robot is compatible with Swiffer Dry Wipes - these are what I use as they're efficient and disposable. The battery lasts long enough to clean both our kitchen and living room on one charge. The only negative is that it can get stuck from time to time. If it goes under an object the gets lower the further back it goes, it can get wedged in. More problematically, it can get stuck on very short pile rugs. Finally, the R2D2-like beeps it uses are not helpful to those of us who don't speak droid. It would have been a lot more useful if the robot could have simply used speech.Overall, however, this is a genuinely practical device. Put it down, switch it on, and get on with something else while the robot reveals just how dirty your apparently clean floors were.

I have a Neato D7 and I bought this first; after a few months of use this is my review.Firstly, it is super quiet and fast. This means you can use it at night and wake up to a polished floor!Secondly, it does work. How effective it is, is the subject of debate between friends and family who claim it's a gimmick. I have hard floors and I compare this to wiping them by hand with a wet wipe. It's not as good as elbow grease or a scrub but it does the job good enough to remove dirt, scuffs and light stains. It cannot remove hard stains such as coffee or food residue but generally cleans very well.Thirdly, the North Star is nowhere near as good as a proper smart robot like the Neato D7 or Roomba.Im not entirely sure it does anything. It does automatically come on and connect with the robot but I doubt it actually helps it navigate. At any rate, the robot does methodically clean row by row. In wet mode it does a kind of rub and in dry mode it does a quick continuous sweep.Fourthly, battery is decent; lasts some 3 hours. However, as it has no smart return home (or any kind of auto dock) it can only go back to where it started and wait for you to manually dock it. I think this is the biggest draw back: lack of auto return and dock. It would make a big difference if it had this. The lack of connectivity/app support/mapping is not fatal as you don't miss them. Finally, I do believe that this like smart robot vacuums are the future. I don't think you will look back once you shift to automated labour.

This is a superb mopping robot. It doesn't have any suction, so you need to brush or vacuum your floor first, and the water tank is tiny (probably 100ml), but it does mop our large kitchen and dining room before it runs out. I do add some cleaning solution (not bleach or ammonia etc, but normal mild cleaning solution is ideal): about 5ml in the tank is all that's required.Place the room sensor somewhere reasonably central, put the mopbot in the corner of your room, and it will go on its merry way. When it's finished, it will go back to the starting point and turn off.One word of warning - it is completely silent. It's easy to forget it's there and step on it,or trip up when you realise it's about. It's not a miracle worker - it won't lift really stubborn dirt, nor does it scrub hard. But if you use it every 1-2 days it keeps the floor spick-and-span. You probably will need to order a spare pack of mop cloths as they need to be thrown in the washing machine then dried before each use, so have some spares. Incidently, the cloths simply velcro onto the base of either the dry head or the wet head, which then attaches to the mop using magnets. I think you can also get 'swiffer' pads, but not tried these - not sure if they will remain damp long enough, particularly if you have a larger room. It's our second bot - goes with its larger Roomba which we've moved elsewhere in the house. Really pleased with them both.

I was expecting more functionality based on the price of this mop.No WiFiNo BluetoothNo App ConnectivityIt has no vacuum system built in and in basic mop mode relies on the micro fibre mat collecting any dirt so everything it collects is dragged around the rest of your floor. In wet mopping mode it does well with its very small reserve of water (less than 200ml) but it tends to rather unevenly apply this leaving what looks like slug trails till the floor dries.I also imagined that the docking base was a base designed that the mop would return to it and put itself on charge. It does not and the mop has to be placed on top of the charging base (so no need for this to be on the floor and could be in a cupboard assuming it has a UK 13amp power point).Yes,indeed it does work but failed to do the complete room (with an island kitchen unit in it) missing the most important area near the sink.In wet mop mode it did remove spill marks form the floor and does it all with an amazing small amount of water. The cube that helps guide in around the area to be cleaned seems to work giving a solid light.I still would have expected more for the price.

This is not the first iRobot product we have, we already use an early Roomba and love that. We have continuous tiles floors across three rooms with two cats and two dogs.We need to vacuum the floor first otherwise the cleaner just pushes pet hair around. This floor cleaner is easy to set up and everything you need (apart from water and floor cleaner) is included in the package. The system uses a simple system of a small cube that projects invisible symbols on the ceiling so the cleaner can find its way around and map the room. The thing is almost silent in operation and does the job effortlessly leaving no streaks. It sits upright on its own charging dock and charges quickly.Clean floors whilst watching TV.If you're worried that Skynet is taking over and we all become slaves of the machine, then this isn't for you. In the meantime I will have really clean floors until our robot masters come along.

This is a fantastic little robot that has saved us an incredible amount of time in housework. We have a large area of laminate on the ground floor and this little robot comfortably handles it. The dry mop is good for a quick buff and generally picking up hair and dust. The wet mop does a fantastic job of cleaning the floor, in fact it leaves a much better finish to the floor than our steam mop used to. The edge detection is good - we have a couple of steps where there is the possibility for it to take a dive over, but it is consistent in avoiding going over whilst still cleaning right up to it. It can take a while to clean a room with lots of angles or edges in (e.g. in the dining room around the table and sideboard),but as you can just set and forget it the time doesn't really matter as you can be getting on with other things. Definitely one for time poor people who like a clean house.

I have about 1000sq ft of wood floors, I hate mopping. This thing is genius, in fact the only thing I can fault is that the ‘sweep’ button looks like a mop to me.It’s near silent, if you have a roomba this is whisper quiet in comparison, to the point you forget it’s on even if it’s working in the same room, which is great because I work from home and can have it running while on the phone. When I first got it basically cleaned each room about 10 times in a row until the cloth stopped coming away dirty (yes, I had been a little lazy at getting under some furniture) and now it runs about once a week.I have a really annoying tile floor in my bathrooms that sucks to clean, even there performance is ok,better with a dettol wipe on the dry pad than with the microfibre mop cloth.

Great gadget and very systematic. Dry and wet mops. I use to wet on laminate and tiles both smooth and grainy.Great for everyday keeping clean and extremely quiet. The grained tiles require a more substantial clean every so often to get in the grooves.I use a robot vac for collecting dirt and dust so very rarely use the dry mop, but when I have it does collect it well, but just takes dust round with it.Only grumble s that the cloth seems to get dry after 30mins of use as the wick in the dispenser does not let sufficient water out. Difficult balance as you don't want it too wet for laminate etc.Get spare cloths as they go in and out of machine.

So a robotic mop can never be as good as the iRobot Roomba (which is the worlds greatest invention in my opinion!) but then it doesn’t cost as much either. I love that the mop is silent because you can have it in any time. Even my dog ignores it. It cleans reasonably well so long as you don’t expect it to do week-old spills! Every day use is the key! It’s good that it covers a large area - BUT over a certain area you need to change the cloth anyway so perhaps I could have managed with the cheaper version that doesn’t do as big a space. Battery life is good. Easy to fit the cloths and I just add diluted flash to the reservoir and it seems great.

The absolute perfect ROBOT. I have never had to clean any floors since the purchase. What a difference. I shut the door and just leave it to get on. It gets into all the corners and around edges. My son-in- law promised to do housework but balked at cleaning the floors. Now with one of these he leaves it to do its job while he goes out to work. On return the floor is lovely and clean. The best thing since sliced bread! I would recommend one of these for everyone. Good for people with bad backs and people of a certain age and those with very little time for house cleaning.

Bought this little guy (yes they do seem to have a personality) for my daughter and son in-law. They have engineered hardwood floors through out most of the flat. My daughter is a stickler for cleanliness and my son-law loves gadgets. Now the floors get mopped clean every day. It finds it way from room to room on one charge and one placement of the controller cube. We were all surprised and pleased how much it picked up on the pad. Buy extra pads so that you can pop the dirty ones in the washer.

Saves so much time, just leave it to sweep or mop the floor when you are doing something else and poo it back on charge when you come back. Not as good as its little brother on tiles but covers a large area easily. Does not damage furniture or sleeping dogs (just gently knocks into him a few times, I think he treats it as a massage as he deliberately lays in front of it!) you will need extra cloths but they are washable and it does occasionally get stuck under things but I love it.

This is a fantastic device that helps you with keeping the floors of your house always clean and without any effort really.THe only difficult thing is the connectivity with the navigation system. Please read carefully how to do it and the secret is to start the device facing the signal cube of the positioning at about 1.5m. Then the device does everything by itself. I think it is really really good. In any case the device can do the job even without the signal cube.
