I’m just a big kid, so whenever I visit my family, I enjoy seeing what toys and books my niece loves to play with. Yes, we had several tea parties while I was last there. But a trip to the park introduced me to the absolute fun that is the Ultra Stomp Rocket. My brother and I had just as much fun with it as my niece did.The idea is so simple it’s hard to believe this hasn’t been around for a long time. Several metal bars create a stand. Attached to this stand is a hollow tube that is attached to a giant soft plastic box. I really don’t know how else to describe it since the outside is plastic and it compressed as you stomp on it.Once this is set up on the ground, you slide a rocket on the tube. When you’re ready to let it fly, just stomp on that plastic box and watch the rocket shoot off into the air. You can adjust the angle of the tube, so sometimes it will shoot out further and sometimes it will shoot up higher. And right there is something that will help kids understand physics. No, we didn’t try to understand anything but having fun playing with it, but you can easily see how the angle of the launching tube greatly affects where the rocket goes. Whether you discuss it or not, I'm sure this will click with kids when they study that in school. It definitely goes. My brother and I were able to launch it pretty fair and pretty high. The rockets themselves are a light plastic with a rubbery nerf like material on the end. (No, this is not an official nerf product.) They land softly, although I wouldn’t want to have one shot directly at me. With the force they launch, I’m sure that would hurt. The box recommends this for ages 8 and up with supervision. I’m sure one of the reasons is to make sure kids don’t get hurt shooting these at each other. Another reason is that the launching stand takes a bit of work to get together. It’s just a matter of screwing a few pieces together, and my brother did it in a few minutes. I’m sure an 8-year-old could handle it on their own.But here’s the thing – my niece is 3 - obviously, much younger than the suggested age. To make the rockets fly, she had to jump on the plastic box instead of step on it, and she doesn’t have the weight to make it go as far as my brother and I do. And yet she was having a blast with it. She'd launch one and then run and get it and bring it back, grinning the entire time. Would I recommend leaving her alone with this? No. But with adults watching closely, I think this could be enjoyed by younger kids. Adult supervision is the key.The Stomp Rocket comes with the assembly to launch the rockets and four rockets. They seem bit flimsy, but so far none have broken. This might not be the most durable toy, but it is fun.Obviously, you’ll need a large tree free area to launch the rockets into. Since we played with it at the park, that wasn’t an issue at all.So I recommend the Ultra Stomp Rocket as a fun toy that will entertain kids of all ages. It’s so simple and yet loads of fun.

We used to have one of these in our house yearrrs ago! I'd forgotten how good they were until I was looking for space related stuff for my nephews 4th birthday because he's space mad!So along with some other spacey things I had to get him this rocket. If it wasn't for research into the movement of an object by Galileo and Sir Issac Newtons laws of motion we wouldn't have the stomp rocket to stomp the hell out of in our parks and gardens at all!Things to consider when making a rocket -- How can you create enough thrust to exceed the weight of the rocket?- What structural materials and propellant combinations should you use?- How big will the rocket have to be?- How can you make the rocket go where you want it to?- How can you bring it back to Earth safely?Huh?I haven't got a bloody clue but somebody did and put it in a box for us!In the box you and your little Lt Neil Armstrong will find the pump and firing tubes already connected. You only need to attach the multi angle stand, stick one of the three rockets on, wait for the right weather conditions then start the countdown. At T minus 60 minutes you'll need to eat a banana ot two for energy and take a cod liver oil tablet for the old joints. How many years have passed since you last jumped in the air and slammed your foot down?T - 15 minutes start walking down the park with your child. They'll be running. Don't try to keep up with them! Just shout "ey you! Get back here!" They'll probably ignore you and keep running.T - 10 minutes Set the damn rocket up. It's raining now and you wished you'd have stayed in watching Sunday Brunch.T- 5 minutes Cup your hands over your mouth and say -" (make crackle noise) This is Houston lieutenant (insert kids name) we have T minus five minutes to ignition and all is okay!"T- 1 minute Start doing a few star jumps to get the old ticker pumping, ready to jump! The banana will kick in now.T - 30 seconds get your propulsion leg ready by just lifting it up and down to grease the knee and ankle joints. Cod liver oil capsule is a go!T- 10 seconds and the kid will be very excited by now or bored, cold and wanting to watch Ben 10.Cup your hands over your mouth again and say -"This is Houston. Engines are ignited and we're good to go - 10...9...8...7...6 firing boosters... (make a booster noise)...5...4...3...2...1...Blast off!"Now jump higher than you ever have before, higher than you did in 3rd year of the seniors doing the Fosbury flop and propel that banana and cod liver oil fulled foot down onto the pump with the might of only Thor himself! In use these rockets do go very high. Not sure whether it's 400ft or as far as Voyager is today but it's bloody high enough. It'll look like 1,000 ft to my nephew! This is a cracking inexpensive good old fashioned toy that will keep your child and you busy and having proper fun for hours on end.Highly Recommended :)

I bought the Stomp Rocket on impulse, a couople of days after New Year. I thought my 4yo and 6yo nephews would have some fun with it, in the last few days, of their Christmas holidays. The Stomp Rocket, screams; FUN ,even its name, exudes fun and made the boys laugh. The other boy, in the family, is considerably older. I hoped he would help the young ones set it up, and show them how to "STOMP", despite the age gap, the 42yo big kid (Dad) played, as happily, as his young charges. We like to think its a practical, instrument of learning. Naturally, Dad insists, on Physics practical homework, so the boys are well versed in various principles of Physics. At the very least (he insists),they learn the relationship between Force,Mass,& Distance (F\M\D), and he's happy to provide the F and M....I know, I need, hardly state, how it also demonstrates Newton's first and third laws of motion.........The Stomp Rocket provides an abundance of excuses to propel children, and adults onto the cushion and launch the trajectories skyward....Obviously each launch is followed by a lesson proving why the rocket went off in the direction, and at the velocity it did, and why it landed where it did.....Confession time; we don't really sit down and teach them all the above things, they just play with it until all the rockets are lost!! The Stomp Rocket is really good fun, and an unbelievable bargain. Can't fault the Stomp Rocket, in any way.The one tiny niggle, is not with the rocket itself, I suppose, really it could be seen as testament to how durable the rocket is. The boys, have so much fun seeing how far they can make the rockets go, that I've had to buy 2 more sets of rockets, but it's not exactly a bank breaker. What price fun, I say, as they're only a couple of £s ?? :-D

Dads: Stuck inside on Christmas Day, tubes not running, no shops, no entertainment, no sign of life? Here is the answer to your Christmas prayers, and the kids will love it too.The Stomp Rocket is an absurdly simply concept - there's really nothing to it, the only wonder is no one's ever thought of it before. Is it educational? Sure - and how: If given the benefit of the full, concentrated force of father's 17 stone frame travelling downwards with gravity (accelerating at 10m/s2, so well worth experimenting by standing on chairs, ladders, launching from trampolines etc.), these little plastic rockets really will go MILES in the air and will (wind permitting) prescribe a perfect parabola, and the rocket flites are rifled, ensuring the cylinder rotates aerodynamically and thus attains greater distance and accuracy. There; you can't get much more educational than that - and this would be one physics lesson I'd happily repeat, day in day out, at least until the rockets had disappeared. And disappear they will, very quickly, either by attaining escape velocity and never returning to planet earth at all (Beagle 2 scientists, take note), or by falling apart. This is my only criticism - the whole thing is VERY flimsy indeed, and the rockets in particular will crack, the flites will fall off, and if you should sit on them, they're useless (there's a lesson in that, too!). I have seen a set of three replacement rockets advertised for £6, which is an abusrd price, given that they are just a plastic tube, a glued-on flight and a rubber nose. And there you have a further educational incentive - it would not be hard, and quite a bit of fun, I dare say, to make the rockets (or even the whole thing) yourself.Outstanding entertainment.Olly Buxton

I bought one for my son's 6th birthday last September, and he asked for it to be taken out during his party in the garden. All the games I had arranged were ignored (aside from eating doughnuts from strings - who would pass that up?:)), and we ended up spending pretty much the entire party lining up kids to have goes.Of course, doing it in a garden with hyper children taking a run up so that they could stomp harder did mean we lost most of the rockets over the fence by the end (the garden is about 50 feet long). We also had to retrieve a couple from the roof:)That brings me to my only gripe - replacements. When I bought this, the replacements were sold by a third party seller, and cost about the same (once postage was included) as buying a new one. So we bought a new one for us, and two more were requested by my mums friend for her grandkids.I've since got my brother to get one for his son (he loves it), and friends have also bought it and loved it.Oh, with regards to durability of the pump bit that you stamp on - my hubby (about 13 stone) and my brother (about 15 stone) have both had many goes, and it's still working!Just a great, fun toy.

I bought this for my daughter's 6th birthday. It was very well received and the box made it look like a lot of fun.Assembly wasn't difficult at all. There are three legs of the tripod to fit together, but it really doesn't take 5 minutes. When we got it going, there were two things we really noticed. Firstly, it really helps to be a heavy, grown man if you want it get some serious height. None of the kids managed a stomp that got it half as high, and my 3 year old's most enthusiastic jump made it launch just slightly above my head before its descent. Secondly, some of the rockets seem to stick to the launching pole, and this makes their launch especially tricky for the smaller people. That said, when it goes high it is really quite something, and I enjoyed the game of trying to catch the returning rocket. As time has gone on, the rockets seem to have become increasingly 'sticky'. I suspect they are just getting ut of shape, but that doesn't appear to be easy to fix. As a result we haven't been tempted to have many more rocket days- it's on;ly really fun when the grownups do it now, and that's not really the point for us.

I bought this for me... Er, my 6 year old daughter and 2 year old son... And they love it, took a few minutes to put together ;) but once assembled was easy to use. Rockets went a long way up and was brilliant fun. However - and this is why I'm NOT giving it 5 stars - there are a few flaws:* Build quality of the flights on the rockets is questionable - 2 of 6 rockets: The flights have broken after half an hour of play* If you want the launcher vertical - Tough. There is a single bolt securing the launcher to the base so it goes off kilter immediately* The base is far too light - It doesn't stay put very well* The hose to the launcher is too tight and any movement of it wobbles the WHOLE base - I've taken to taping it to the vertical piece and the base.I'll redo it with cable ties later* I can't help but feel that it needs tent pegs (or equivalent) to secure it to the ground properly to hold it downThe kids and I had great fun (although I was the mug that had to collect the rockets) and it's a brilliant toy, but needs a little more work.

For my nephews birthday, i had no idea what to get him and he didnt seem to know what he wanted, i always end up spoiling him rotten on loads of expensive things that he may lose interest in very quickly. My nephew got as usual lots of presents from all family members but the stomp rocket was the best and probably the cheapest, my brother even commented that out of all the gifts this is probably the best for all that it is (a few bits of plastic). These rockets can reach a very impressive height even in adults eyes and gives a good laugh when played with too - point straight upwards for maximum height obviously, however point away from house or all your rockets will end up on the roof probably worth buying a wee extra packet of rockets just in case if i remember correctly the stomp rocket comes with 3 already though. A great present idea for anyone for a great price

We have had 4 afternoons so far of fun with Stomp Rocket. Our kids aged 2 & 4 have had a great time and love every time we are to go out with it. Not sure about its durability if used on a hard surface like a playground but we've been putting an old coat under the bladder to protect it from scuffing. Stay well away from places u don't wnt the rockets to go as once airborne they really do fly high and (with a wind an slightly wrong trajectory) far! voice of experience of someone who had to retreive one from the school roof 100 Yrds from the firing site.I'd give you two last tips if you haven't got one yet1. once erected peg down the legs with tent pegs once its been constructed to give a stable platform2.Get an extra set of rockets and split them between you & your kids to avoid the inevitable fights over who's turn it is!!!!!Enjoy! This is a great toy. I bought it for my 8 year old brother last Christmas (2011) We played it for hours on Christmas day- it also got the attention of local kids in the area who cued up to have a go! and he still gets it out whenever I go to visit. It has lasted well, out of the 6 rockets 1 has been lost- shot over a roof( make sure you play in a large field, they go a long way!) and 1 has been trodden on by accident so doesn't shoot off smoothly. The other 4 are still fully working and intact! The actual stomper and tube are still in full working order after hundreds of stomps from adults and kids. The fact that it still gets brought out every time I visit is a true sign of its long term valueand fun.I'd recommend this toy to anyone as everyone who's played it or seen it wants a go and loves it- young, old, boys and girls!

Bought this for sons 5th birthday. It really does fly! In garden we lost a couple of rockets very quickly, so buy another pack of spares. We did find them again in bushes/trees, but in garden it maybe wise to point the launcher at ground level. In the park they went really high and drew a crowd of onlookers and excited kids all wanting a go, which gave a good hour or more of entertainment. The air bladder connection did come undone but easily connected again. The only down side is that the stand is really rather flimsy for such a powerful air rocket blast and will sometimes fall over as not heavy enough to stand the bigger jumps and heavier movement of the air pipe.Overall a very fun and quitecompetitive present at very reasonable price - would buy again for my childrens friends without hesitation.

I have used this with our church youth groups and summer camps for a bit of fun...had the kids running about like mad critters chasing the rockets and trying to make a target on the grass to hit for points...absolutely great! They were knackered in an hour and a half and slept like logs for the rest of the night!!!!Also used this with a Physics class learning projectiles and with a little thought, a measuring tape, sports field and a protractor it can be used with the equations of motion to find height and initial velocities.....and a bunch of Secondary 6th years with a grin and enthusiasm of the 1st years...Brilliant inexpensive toy and educational tool, only flaw....large 6th year boys jumping on the bellows can create too much force and split one of the rockets with their 'enthusiasm'!!!!

I bought this for my son as he had seen something similar on the tv and had shown an interest in rockets and this kind of thing. It was super easy to assemble. You just clip the base stand together, plug in the pump, attach the rocket and you’re ready to go. Then all you need to do is stomp on the air pump and watch the rocket fly!It doesn’t take much power to make this thing fly high. My son would jump on it with both of his feet and watch the rocket fly up high into the sky. If an adult stomps it hard, it’s possible to send it so high it’s scary. Some times I thought we were going to lose the thing because it went up so high!A right laugh and easily to assemble and disassemble so you can chuckit in the back of the car and take it out to a field or park somewhere.

I bought a Stomp Rocket to take to a week long family reunion which involved kids of widely varying ages - they absolutely loved it and played well together every single day for the whole week with it - really great ( often hilarious ) fun and it had them all running around tiring them out for bedtime - my three year old played with his cousins aged from 6 to 9 and even the adults wanted to have a go. I cannot recommend this highly enough and have just ordered two more as presents. Be sure you have an open space though as we got the rockets stuck in trees a few times. Physical fun with educational element too as the kids learnt different directions and made up different modes of stomping (eg backwards, side to middle, recommend the sitting stomp ! ) I love this.

Every now and again, you'll see something that you just KNOW is a perfect present for someone. Such was the case with the Stomp Rocket and my 5yr old nephew. So I bought one and he loves it.It's a simple concept that's well executed. Plastic pipe, plastic tripod , plastic hose and plastic air reservoir all connect together to make the launcher. Add a plastic rocket to the launch pipe, stomp and you're off. I was initially worried by the durability of all the plastic bits but so far it's stood up well to the trials of an enthusiastic 5yr old.Even the grown-ups have a go, competing at hitting distant targets or seeing who can stomp the furthest.Cheap and effective,it's a great toy for the park that kids (and more growns ups than might admit) will enjoy.
