Being a poor college student, I've had more experience with low-to-moderately priced air mattresses in the past 5 years than most people have in a lifetime.Compared to other air mattress brands (including Coleman) that I've used continuously over the years in the "less than $50" category, Intex has proven to be excellent with regards to price and durability (including lifespan) but somewhat less comfortable due to the larger air chambers.Growing up in the 80's with parents who loved camping (far more than I ever will), I always associated the brand Coleman with quality and durability, and I would have expected Coleman air mattresses to be the best. Times have definitely changed though, and it's shocking that a company with a name like "Intex" could seriously have a better product than Coleman, which has almost become a national trademark and always regarded by my family as the "Cadillac" of camping gear.Pro's1) Price: Definitely the cheapest of the air mattresses2) Lifespan: At least 6 months of "continuous" use by 2 adults, based on the last 3 Intex mattresses I've owned. On the other hand, I've gone through several Coleman air mattresses (both normal and raised), and none have lasted even 3 months. (The last one sprung a leak in the middle of the night, and 5 minutes later I was on the floor. Intex mattresses seem to always have an annoying bulge develop due to the air chamber seams failing long before failing completely like the Colemans.)3) Air Valve: As others have mentioned, it's impressive that Intex decided to feature a plastic, screw-on, "2-in-1 valve" that prevents air from escaping when inflating the mattress (and also makes it easy to deflate by simply unscrewing the valve). The Coleman mattress, on the other hand, only has a standard rubber valve, like the ones commonly used on inflatable swimming pool toys.Con's1) Warranty: Apparently, unlike Coleman mattresses which have a 1-year warranty, Intex doesn't seem to offer any sort of customer protection. HOWEVER, despite the Coleman warranty (which was the only reason I continued buying their more expensive mattresses), they have apparently become much more reluctant to honor this warranty and REFUSE to offer replacements for air mattresses used on a continuous basis. (This seems like a deceptive stipulation, since a "1-year warranty" should serve as a guarantee to a consumer that a product will function for ONE FULL YEAR regardless of the amount of use it receives.) After learning of this last summer when I called to replace a mattress that didn't even last a month, I will NEVER buy another Coleman.2) Comfort: The large air chambers of the Intex mattress are more noticeable and less comfortable than the smaller air chambers on the Coleman. I recommend simply using a thinker mattress pad or sleeping bag over the top of the mattress, which will also allow for better ventilation.3) NO AIR PUMP: The title should indicate that there's no pump included, but most air mattress pumps suck anyway. So, I'd recommended buying a good electric pump that can work for both inflating and deflating. (One of the Coleman pumps I've had for a few years is still going strong and inflates a new mattress within a couple minutes.)Conclusion:Aside from the minor annoyance of the larger air chambers (which can be alleviated with a thicker mattress pad or blanket), Intex, surprisingly, is certainly a far superior air mattress to the Coleman. For college students living in unfurnished apartments who want to stay mobile and avoid collecting heavy furniture, the Intex air mattresses are definitely the way to go, since they're cheap and will last at least a couple semesters. If Intex decides to implement the smaller air chambers and finds a way to extend the lifespan of the air chamber seams while maintaining their current price, they will have a great product worthy of 5 stars.

I bought this bed because we have a tradition in our family for all of the kids to sleep in the same room Christmas Eve night. I didn't want to sleep on the floor, and that was the only available area, so I looked into air mattresses for a temporary bed, just to use for one night.First I'd like to say that I did a LOT of research to find a good air mattress that I could use for several years one or two nights at a time. I noticed that there are a lot of mixed reviews on pretty much all of them, and this one is no different. I have a feeling that most of the negative reviews are because people don't understand air beds and therefor don't use them properly. They aren't meant to sleep on every night for long periods of time,so don't expect to buy something like this and be able to sleep on it for several weeks without having to fill it up fairly often. I noticed that a lot of people complain that it "loses air" but it really doesn't, it's just the vinyl stretching out as you sleep on it. So don't expect it to be as filled and firm in the morning after sleeping on it all night. If you want a luxury mattress, then pay for one. Also, I noticed that a lot of people complain about the foot pump not working when they receive it. I had no problems with the foot pump at all. You just have to know how to use it and READ THE INSTRUCTIONS...I promise it will help if you know how it's supposed to be done. It isn't something that you can just look at and figure out, you have to read about it so that you do it correctly, so please figure out how to use the item before leaving a negative review.Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. It was inexpensive and it worked very well for what I needed. It kept me comfortable all night and was both easy to set up as well as easy to take down and put away. So if you're looking for something simple and inexpensive, I would highly recommend this mattress.

I wouldn't go so far as to say this is crazy wonderful or anything. After all, lets face it. Air mattresses will never be as comfortable as a normal bed so that's always an instant downside to them, but for camping they are so much better than sleeping on the hard cold ground. Me and my girlfriend used this on our recent camping trip and it worked fine. For those of you who miss it yes it does not involve a pump. My girlfriend was using the ole foot pump method while I set up our tent and after half inflated we slide it inside and fully inflated it. It took more time adjusting the amount of air to our desires than it did to just fill it initially. The material itself seems to be good quality and durable.Immediately I was impressed by it versus other mattresses I had used in the past. It doesn't give that same plasticy feel other cheap ones do when you lay on them (often even after you put blankets or sleeping bags on it.Its not perfect, but I was still impressed with the quality. Intex is a good brand that is still improving their products. As we settled in for the night the mattress seemed to had lost a little air but after readjusting we think it was just our minds because in the morning everything was still the same. Whenever one of us would roll around at night it often woke the other. Just throwing this extra detail in because afterall, its an air mattress and I want people to understand when you lay on them, the air shifts so while not a problem for us, just be aware of this if you haven't owned one before. Deflating is always fun. Unscrew the end and thhhhhhbtt, roll all over it then roll it up and poof. Back in the box it went and into the truck.

My family was going camping on the beach and wanted something comfortable to spend our time on. We found these queen sized Intex mattresses and though we would give them a go.We purchased two of these that would take up the majority of the back room of our tent for a family of five to sleep on. We filled the mattresses with an Intex air pump using the car in just a few minutes. The mattresses are very nice especially for the price. The soft velvet top is nice, but only if you plan on your skin being on the mattress. We had sheets to put over the mattress so the velvet top made no difference to us whatsoever.I am sure most people don't plan to spend time sleeping on this without something between you and the mattress so I don't suggest purchasing this mattress due to this feature alone. The air inlet and outlet is pretty large so it deflates quickly. We rolled the mattresses toward the air outlet. I am not sure there is a better way to get all the air out.I am a pretty big guy - 260 pounds at this time. Myself and my fiancé had no problems sleeping on this mattress and it held up well. There is a lot of bounce every time someone moves, but I am sure that is part of every air mattress. These are surprisingly heavy for air mattresses so they must be made from fairly thick material. If you are looking for a decent priced large air mattress, this Intex is a good value.

We bought this bed as a temporary mattress between moves and finishing up school. My husband and I have both slept on it every night for almost four months. It's held up PERFECTLY. Great quality, no holes, easy to fill, quite comfortable, easy, and may I stress again that it still holds air after FOUR MONTHS?! I top it off every two or three weeks, but just for ten to twenty seconds (using the Intex Quick Fill Air pump). No sign that we'll need to replace it any time soon. We had another Intex $100 one and it lasted three days without needing to be inflated before bed, once during the night, and again in the morning. Overall, AWESOME buy: cheap, long lasting, comfortable, small when deflated, easy to pump up.I should add, however, there is one small caveat if you are planning on sleeping on it every day for months at a time. The ridges go parallel to your body, rather than perpendicular. For the first few months, I honestly didn't notice. Now though, I can't stop thinking about it. Is it best to sleep with the middle of my back on the top of a ridge, or should I try to get my shoulders to bridge the gap from ridge to ridge? Why do my feet always have to be in a valley? WHY? Anyways, just something to keep in mind if you are planning on sleeping on it every day.

I just got this air mattress and immediately pumped it up using the foot pump. It took some time, but it worked just fine. My advice is to sit in a chair while doing it as it's easy to get leverage.Pros:Foot pump - it gets the job done, but it does take effort - it's hard to get the last few bits of pressure as the pump is hard to push when it's almost fully inflated, but it can be done.Vertical seams - This is my preference as I do find it more comfortable.Cons:Bulky when deflated - the foot pump adds a lot of bulk and weight to the mattress, so it's not great for saving space while traveling. That's a bummer.Cheap Valve - the valve to inflate (with electric pump) and deflate is pretty cheap looking. It's just a simple plug and is too easy to pop out. It can be accidentally knocked out when fully inflated and I can see the plug warping over time, which would render the entire thing useless.Value is obviously there - I've gone through too many air mattresses to spend more than $30 so I am happy to give this one a try. The bulkiness is not ideal, but my main concern is durability (mostly the valve). If it holds air over 2 years of use I'll gladly come back and give it 5 stars for the value alone. So far so good...

For a very cheap inflatable mattress this works perfectly. My wife and I have slept on this mattress a number of times (roughly 7) and have had no problem falling asleep. We don't roll towards each other in any way and the mattress is fairly comfortable. However, when one person moves the other definitely feels it. This only matters if you are a light sleeper and your partner moves around a lot.I bought the foot pump to go along with this. Using the foot pump, it takes 5-10 minutes to inflate it and isn't too strenuous. I typically switch feet a few times because I get tired of partially balancing to one side.Since buying this mattress, I have slept on a number of much higher end mattresses and there is definitely a noticeable difference. This feels like an air mattress; whereas, the higher end mattresses start to feel more like spring mattresses. However, if you are looking for a cheap, robust mattress this is a great option.Note: At one point the mattress got dragged on concrete when it was inflated and the sidewall got sliced. We picked up a tube of rubber glue and applied the glue to the cut and haven't had a problem since. The slice was right on the seam between the top and the side.

Having owned 2 of these air mattresses in the past 7 months, I can say I love this mattress. I actually use it as my main mattress currently. I'm a college student who is leasing a house. I didn't want to bring up my only mattress from home, so I made the purchase of this incredibly cheap air mattress. Using one of these with a mattress topper truly makes you feel as if you're sleeping on the clouds and getting up in the morning is excruciatingly difficult thanks to this mattress.I do have a single complaint however. The seams that keep the mattress level with itself seem to break after heavy use. This creates a mostly unpleasant bump in the bed, making sleeping quite uncomfortable. It doesn't deflate and the mattress itself keeps the air in quite well, however it's still a gimmick I very much dislike. Making me have to purchase another mattress altogether. My first one created a bump after a month and a half of sleeping on it. My second one just created a bump tonight, after 4 in a half months or so, which is very disappointing. However sleeping on an air mattress and a mattress topper that is essentially going to cost me less than $100 for an entire year is extremely worth while.

I spend a few weeks trying to find the right air mattress for my camping trips. My worst nightmare was spending $100+ on a mattress that would fail while I was camping and leave me sleeping on the ground (with a bad back). I also wanted a mattress with the least amount of seams because that is where you will generally find your leaks. So I took my air mattress to New Germany State Park the other weekend to give it a try. My girlfriend and I are smaller people (250 lbs total), and we both planned on crashing on the mattress for the 2 nights we were there. Upon pitching the tent, I used an air pump from a previously failed air mattress and I preceded to fill it up. It took only a couple minutes.I checked on it a few hours later (they generally need to be topped off after the initial fill) and it had not lost any air or expanded to the point that more air was needed. That was actually the only time I had to fill it up the entire trip! It even held air through the frisky events taking place on it!For $16, I couldn't have asked for a better mattress. I bet I would prefer it over those bulky, overpriced air mattresses that always seem to leak air.I highly recommend!

Gone are the days that I can go camping and sleep in just a sleeping bag on the ground. The rocks, the plant and root lumps... it's just too much after a long day of camping with 4 kids, so we bought this air mattress to bring with. It's nothing fancy, just a decent inflatable, queen size mattress with a plush top. It does NOT come with a pump, so you'll have to purchase that separately, which gives you the flexibility to buy what suits your needs and budget. (Manual foot pump, battery operated pump, or plug in are all available)We pumped it up the first night and of course the children jumped and danced around on it. We did need to reinflate it each night before bed, as the material stretched, but it didn't take long, and we didn't mind. It held up well to the 500lbs of bodies sleeping on it (me, my husband and 2 small children that inevitably ended up in it with us).The sections that fill with air are a bit tall, making pretty steep hills and valleys in the mattress, but it didn't bother me nearly as much as the roots and rocks I could have been sleeping on.Overall, great bang-for-your-buck air mattress. Would recommend to a budget savvy friend!

I just bought this bed and pumped it up for the first nights use... now, I am only 115 lbs dripping wet... but this air mattress did not leak last night. I bought this because we have a two bedroom home, and 4 people. Two of which snore. When I need to be able to blow this mattress up and take it downstairs to my living room so I can get some sleep, I need something that is reliable... I have an extremely bad back. I am only 35 years old, and have already had 4 back surgeries, resulting in rods and screws being inserted just a year ago. That pretty much means that the couch is no longer an option for me to sleep on. I slept on the couch the other night and I am still hurting from it.I woke up this morning and my back feels so much better after sleeping on this air mattress!! I looked at air mattresses with pumps already in the mattress, don’t buy them. For the price of this mattress, buy yourself an electric pump or even a battery operated pump for the price that those cost. I had to add something to my order to make it meet the $35 requirement to have same day shipping for this air mattress and electric pump I bought with it!

For a $15 air mattress this one can't be beat. I've slept on this thing for about a month while waiting for my paychecks to start coming in from the military. I was thinking of purchasing something more permanent like an actual mattress, but I haven't had any issues with this yet and will most likely continue to use this for a little while longer until it goes bad.The first few nights I slept on this baby without any toppers on it. The vertical beams were a bit annoying at first, but I got used to it pretty quickly. Wondering how I could improve on it, I bought a cheap queen sized foam topper off amazon for about the same price as the air mattress. That topper really improved this thing significantly. Now it feels almost like a real mattress. One card hardly tell the difference.I'll be really happy if this thing lasts a few more months, but in case it doesn't I can't say that I'll be disappointed. I originally bought this with the intention of using it only for temporary purposes, but maybe now it'll last me all year until I have to move again. For the price, this air mattress really can't be beat.

These aren't the most comfortable air mattresses in the world, but they're not the worst either. They're more durable than I expected, and most importantly, they are an absolutely fantastic deal.I purchased two of these for friends' visiting last March, expecting that they'd pop in relatively short order, but also that if they lasted even two nights... $7.50/night per couple wasn't bad at all. It turns out, they didn't pop. They're still around today, at least ten usages later, functioning perfectly - they haven't even sprung a mild leak.At this point, I've paid about $1.25 per night I've used these, and they're still around for me to use in the future. They are pretty comfortable - they're not Aerobeds, but they're more comfortable than I expected for the price. They don't come with a pump, but you can get one really cheaply on Amazon. The cheap pump I purchased with these - even cheaper than these mattresses - is also still just as functional as the day I got it, and it inflates these beds in about a minute. These things are truly FANTASTIC deals.

This is the second one I bought because I loved the first one so much. This is comfortable and great for camping or needing a bed in a pinch. The only complaint I have about it is that it is a pain to fold. Well, that and I use a manual pump to inflate it. So that's a whole different kind of pain. So buy an automatic pump along with this. Yeah, they're expensive but your arms will thank you. And don't even think about trying to blow it up with your mouth. You'll pass out before you get it halfway inflated. It stands about 8 inches tall. So queen-sized fitted sheets will fit on them. If you're using it for a few days, you'll need to top off the air every day or so to keep its firmness. You will want to keep it firm because if you're sharing it with someone else, you will feel EVERY. SINGLE. MOVEMENT. they make. You will rise and you will fall every time they roll around. It's like sleeping on a little boat during a bad storm. So keep it firm. Unless you like sleeping on little boats during bad storms. Then don't keep it firm.

I really like my Queen size Intex Classic Downy Airbed! The last three or so air mattresses I have owned have been the double height queen size that cost around $80 and don't seem to last very long. I remember a friend of mine having an Intex brand mattress that she has been using for years now and it still works and inflates great. So I decided hey how can I go wrong with making a $20 investment for an air mattress with good reviews? Sure its only the single height but it's only used here and there for camping or if a house guest stays, etc. I've used it on two occasions now and I must say this was a fantastic purchase. Hardly an air escapes, so no more waking in the middle of the night to re-inflate.It is definitely on the firm side when fully inflated, which I really like. There is no reason to spend so much on other products that just don't last and are much more expensive, I am now a big fan of Intex brand air mattresses and recommend them to anyone in the market for one.
