I have owned this attachment for years, even if I don't use it as often as I would like, but, as for everybody, time is tight! However I find that it works fine, making perfect cavatelli and gnocchetti sardi using the flavoured dough that I make. You just knead the dough a bit on the largest setting of the main machine, then shape it into a rope and pass it slowly into one of the three openings in the attachment according to which kind of pasta you want to make. And that's it. Just let it dry a bit, or freeze it. As with the main pasta machine, you mustn't wash the attachment with water, just wait for the dough to dry and take it or brush it away.I think the description is misleading,because it makes you think you are going to receive the pasta cutter, which I didn't get, and, since the other reviewer didn't get it either, I guess it's not supplied, but you really don't need it, a simple pasta cutter will do.You don't absolutely need this, but it's fun!

I bought this after reading all the reviews as even though the reviews are mixed, I did think it would still be easier than making cavatelli by hand. So, I was prepared for it to be a bit tricky, or a bit messy and it was soooooo easy!!! My research helped me find a great recipe for ricotta cavatelli (1 pound ricotta, 1 pound flour, 2 eggs pinch of salt - knead well, rest for 30 min, longer is better). I also determined that rolling the dough into a thin log about 1/2 inch diameter gave perfect results. too fat and the cavatelli would be pressed into a shape longer then the width of the rollers - and then they would come out attached to eachother. Once I knew the perfect size to roll my dough the rest was simple!!Hundreds and hundreds of perfect cavatelli. If you have the imperia pasta machine then this is a must!!!

I bought this when my son was quite young and struggled with the longer spaghetti / fettuccine shapes made using the cutters that come with the imperia pasta machine. It took us a while to figure out how the darned thing works (it comes without instructions) but now that we have we can knock out perfect pasta shapes in no time. You need to roll the dough quite thick and cut in strips around an inch wide, then feed them through one of the three cutters. There is a bit of a knack to it, but it is fun figuring it out. You just need to approach it with a bit of a laidback attitude, and laugh at the fact no one saw fit to include instructions.This is a great piece of kit that has allowed us to get a lot more out of our pasta machine.

I was a bit apprehensive about buying this as some of the previous reviews were not great, but the more my hens laid the more desperate I became to find a way of using them up, and storing them for the future. So I ordered one and have not looked back. It is true is is a very heavy attatchment and you do have to make really sure you have secured it properly and secured your pasta machine to the work surface really well, but if you work steadily it works fine. I watched a youtube video that shows how to use it and have turned all of my surplus eggs into pasta and frozen it. I even roped the kids into making me some.

Tricky to start with, getting the dough the right consistency and rolled to the optimum diameter was a learning curve! But we mastered it and love our homemade pasta, uses up all those eggs the hens are laying.

well this is a little gem as it makes terrific gnocchi...and OMG it tastes wonderful ...never to buy the shop bought stuff again. : -)
