She's a rescue from Alabama. Her coat is very short. It doesn't take much to get her shivering. Decided to get her a new winter jacket. Went with this one because it has no Velcro. It's a onesie where her head goes into the opening with an extended collar that comes up to the back of her ears. Then you bring the flap down her chest and under her belly where a reflective belt comes around the top and snaps into a plastic buckle on the other side. Not sure if that would be problematic for male dogs. There are elastic straps sewn into the sections that her rear legs go through. Initially I thought they might be too loose but there are three chords with pull clamps (collar, withers, tail)to individualize the fit. Before I tightened the cords, I was having second thoughts... It looked like she was swimming in it. I was worried about the back end getting in the way when she does her business. First, with the coat fully on and her legs through the rear straps, I tightened the cord at the withers while pulling the back of the coat rearward. That snugged the coat across her chest. Next I pulled the cord snug at the base of her tail and this more clearly delineated the rear leg sections. Lastly, I pulled the collar as far up her neck as it would go and tightened that cord--it didn't make a tight fit at her neck.I took her for a walk at dusk and the reflective decals lit up from my flashlight. Some reviews mention the decals may come off over time, but more permanent reflectors can be sewn on. Good news, the back end of the jacket stays out of the way when nature calls! We've been out in rain and she stays dry except for her head. It's advertised as waterproof but I'd say it is "quite water resistant," I don't think it could withstand a drenching rain as well as my Barbour.I am definitely impressed and Koko seems to enjoy running around in it. I put it on her when the temperature is under 40 F and so far we've been out in the lower 20s without adverse effect. As winter proceeds, I'll monitor her; if this doesn't keep her warm at lower temps, I'll look into getting her a Hurtta Extreme Warmer. So overall, two paws up!

Such a great jacket! We were going to pheasant hunt in Kansas in January and needed two jackets for both our dogs. We ordered so many and returned all of them except these. The Filson one didn't fit right and was only secured by velcro, the Orvis one fit way weird (snug under chest and huge around neck) and again was flimsy velcro, the neoprene ones didn't fit right at all (again tight around the chest and huge around the neck), and so many others didn't work. We have a 43lb Lewellyn Setter and a 57lb English Setter. Both have deep chest and are physically very fit (not overweight at all). The sizing chart for this particular jacket runs large. We had to size down for both otherwise there would have been too much material around the back end (looked like they were wearing a dress and I wanted them to not get caught up in anything in the field). One size down was perfectly matched from their neck to their tale. This jacket is so customizable it's just awesome. The back end can be cinched to come up a bit, there are two areas on the neck that can be cinched if needed, and the strap that goes around the chest has plenty of slack. The strap that goes around the chest can also be clipped under the jacket if you need to hide the strap (I didn't want to risk anything catching on it, so under the jacket it went). Also, out of all of the ones the dogs tried on, they both loved this one. The others they just didn't want to move once they were put on, but this one they happily bounced around and had no issue with me putting it on them. It is so easy to put on too, just slip over the head and secure the straps. It has two straps (one for each leg) at the back that go around each leg to keep the thing down and these did not create any rubbing at all. They have warm fleece inside and the pups were fine in 11 degree weather with snow on the ground. Not a scratch anywhere on these jackets and the bright orange is perfect for seeing my babies far away.

Like many of the other reviewers, I too initially balked at the price. But I've bought many (3) a rain/ warm jackets for my dog, and while they work well for mild weather/ lounging around in the backyard, all 3 of them have shortcomings. Most dog coats only cover the undercarriage via 2 straps fastened together with velcro, and the straps just aren't wide enough to protect the under belly against rain/ cold. The parka arrived just in time for a major rainstorm (thanks Amazon!!!), it was put to use within 12 hours of its arrival. It kept our dog nice and dry for the most part which means I only have to wipe down her head and 4 legs. She is a pointer mix, has a deep chest at 29 inches and is about 20 inches long down the back. She's not really wimpy as in she LOVES being out in the rain (she's a rescue dog with very keen hunting instincts). However, she doesn't have an undercoat and her underbelly is pretty bare, lol.I ordered size 22 and it is a great fit on her, much better coverage than her other jackets, and stays put compared to her other jackets. Her neck circumference is only about 17 inches so the adjustable neckline on this is very handy. The buckle seems to be backwards because the adjustable end of the strap faces the underside of the strap/ buckle. This makes it rather challenging to tighten the strap after the buckle is in. However it is a minor detail that, for me, does not take away from the quality of the product. I do not use the leg straps though, because I feel like they are going to be too close to her pee/ poops- she has a narrow butt.Overall this product is well worth the money for me- thumbs up!(Sorry I do not know how to rotate the sideways image.)

My dog, Charlie, is a lean lab/hound mix at 35 lbs with especially short/thin hair around her legs. I bought her this parka after I noticed her shivering after about five minutes outside, even with a cheaper fleece-lined jacket from Pet Smart, when the temperature fell below 35 degrees. This Hurtta parka is a high quality product--it kept her warm for upwards of an hour during our Christmas day hike when it was 28 degrees outside. Charlie loves wearing it too--she'll stick her nose into the parka so I can slip it over her head! Besides keeping her warm in subzero temperatures, it's easy to put on, feels comfy, gives her the freedom to move around, and looks adorable to boot.I love how the cherry pink pops against her black coat. Using the measurement instructions, I bought her an 18" parka, which fits her length-wise; the chest strap is extremely adjustable, as is the area around the neck, but not as much. There's also an opening for a harness, though we don't use that. The only downside is that Charlie didn't immediately take to the straps around the legs. Since she had never worn anything vaguely near her butt before, on her first walk using the parka she stopped every once in a while to lick her butt as if to lick the straps off. She's gotten more used to the leg/butt straps now, but unless she's playing in the dog park, where she rolls around like a maniac, I don't use them because the parka stays snug during a walk/jog/hike without them. I also don't put the straps on her until after she's pooped--don't think they would interfere with the, uh, excretion process but don't want to risk it.Summary: excellent quality, fit and style.

To start I ordered a size 50/20 (cm/in) have a 3/4 blue pit 1/4 lab mix, so he's very broad in the chest with pit musculature but long legs of a lab, 66 pounds and his back stands about knee high and plays hard enough to break the zipper on the last 3 jackets we tried. His measurements:Neck 19"Chest 30"Back length 22"Pros: First impression was that Hurtta really put a lot of time into quality of design, stitching, and fabric when I was unwrapping the coat. The insulation is fantastic and has a nylon outer with fleece sewn inside and lots of air gap to retain heat while being light weight and thin.Heat retention is INCREDIBLE. This is better built than a lot of human coats. Seriously. The no zipper /chest harness and buckle design holds strong even when playing hard. It ant be beat, I'll never go back to a zipper after this. The leg stirrups are a great additionCons: price, but it's worth it. So this is not really a con but $80 for a dog coat you're unsure of is a big leap especially since the sizing can be confusing.Sizing in general was a challenge for my puppy because he skates too big for a 55 but at the limit of a 50. Overall the 50 works well because I didn't want to go with the 27" neck on a 55 when he has a 19" neck, but losing the 2" on the back length means the stirrups are a bit uncomfortable for him so I don't use them. Regardless, the coat stays in place perfectly ell without them.Overall: aside from the discrepancy of matching back length to neck size I am very impressed with this parka and would highly recommend to any dog owners. The quality of craftsmanship and design far outweigh the slight cons.

Firstly this is the first review I’ve ever written on amazon and I literally buy stuff multiple times a week but I LOVE this dog jacket so much I had to leave a review. I ordered 3 others of the same brand since after extensive research this brand is clearly top quality. The others didn’t fit well since my dog Clyde is a Sussex spaniel and they are quite a challenging shape :) I ordered the 20 inch size. Clyde is about 40 lbs and just like the breed description he is long, level and low meaning very long body and short legs. He LOVES to play o it side as much as possible no matter the weather so he uses his jacket daily and it’s held up fantastically well, it’s like new.The biggest PLUS is how easy it is to put in on and take it off. All the others I tried were a bit more involved some were very involved this goes over his head and clips underneath and done, SO EASY! It has elastic loops for the back legs, I assume to keep the jacket in place and I tried using them initially but found I didn’t need them at all and Clyde seems to prefer not to have them on. I’m sure he would have gotten used to them but like I said for him I haven’t found them necessary. Lastly the coat is super versatile, my other dogs is significantly taller and weighs about 60lbs I tried the coat on her just to see if it fit and it fits her perfectly too! I attached two photos of Clyde wearing the jacket and the last one is Bonnie, his big sister wearing it too. Hope this is helpful to others since I found it difficult to find the right jacket so wanted to share

I love this coat already. (We will have to see how it does this winter) But I'm already impressed with the quality and sizing. The fit is just awesome. It is super adjustable waist. I have a tall skinny/long dog and normally coats that cover his butt just drape down on him. (Or vice versa, they fit his waist and leave a few inches of his butt uncovered)This jacket fits perfect. I'd recommend using the length as a primary number, because as long as your dogs waist is smaller than the largest waist size you should be set. Even the length can be adjusted to be slightly shorter with the little tail adjustment. This is super easy to put on, and take off.It takes me about 2 seconds to put it on him and then we are ready to go.The material is nice. The inside fleece is soft and the coat feels like it has enough fluff in it to keep him warm through most the winter. When we hit single digits I might need to put an under layer on my pup (he has a really thin coat). But it seems like it'll keep him warm and comfortable from the 40s-10s degrees (F) without any additional layers needed.Only bad note, the little spandex strips that go around his back legs (this keeps the back coat flaps from blowing in the wind) are super long/loose (again he's a tall skinny dog) but with 15 mins and my sewing kit I'll be able to custom fit these to my pup. So it . shouldn't really be an issue, and it's such a minor detail since the main points of the coat fit him perfect.Honestly I wish I found this jacket sooner, its well worth the price.

This coat is pricey, but we’re so glad we bought this for our dachshund. It’s totally waterproof (looking at you, Ruffwear), covers his back and chest completely (still looking at you, Ruffwear), is easy to get on and off, and keeps him warm in the wet and chilly winters of the PNW. I have a couple of points of note, though.1. Sizing. Our doxie is 9mo, 12 lb, 16” withers to tail base, and 14” around the chest (I triple-checked the measurement and I sew for a hobby). We initially bought the size 16” and had to return it. We bought the 16 in an effort to make sure the coat covered his loooooong body, despite the chest measurement in the sizing being too big. The 16 was too long and too deep in the chest, but the 14 fits just fine! Still a little long somehow, but it’s adjustable so it still fits and there’s a little more room in case he grows. Bottom line: if you have a dog with odd proportions, the chest measurement is probably the most important one for picking sizes.2. The strap for the chest flap has the buckle sewn on backwards. It seems to be a design flaw with all the Hurtta Summit jackets. It’s an easy fix, but if you don’t sew and have hand dexterity issues, this can be a bit fiddly.Otherwise this is a great raincoat for our dachshund and well worth the price tag!

This coat is AMAZING. Waterproof, durable, and highly customizable fit that actually stays on the dog! I live on the coast of New England, which means windy rain storms and blizzards that my dog can’t wait to go out and play in. The key features for me are the waterproof fabric and the elastics on the inside of the back legs - the rear portion of this coat STAYS ON and snug against her hind. The wind can’t blow it around like other coats I’ve tried. My dog is also close to the ground, so the design of this coat also covers her chest for extra warmth. My dog is a beagle mix who can be hard to fit coats for. She’s 23 lbs and a slender build, so coats that were long enough for her were usually too big around the waist. This coat fits perfectly when I cinch the waist strap almost all the way. The elastic cinches around the neck and at the tail allow me to adjust it even further to prevent rain or snow being driven underneath.I also have the rain coat made by this company, and it’s equally amazing with the same features (just not lined for warmth). If you want a coat that actually performs well in bad weather and isn’t just some cutesy fashion statement, go with Hurtta.

This product is absolutely adorable! The color is beautiful and it's good quality. So soft and comfy, my dog loved it! She fell asleep in it and rolled in it when I tried it on her. The only thing I have to say about it is that it runs a bit small. I have the Hurtta Winter Coat, the older version of the Summit Parka, and I got the 18" for my boy. My girl is currently slightly smaller than him but shes only 7 months, so I anticipate her to grow a little bit more. Since I anticipated that she would grow to be about my other dog's size, I got the size 18" thinking it would be slightly big, but she would grow into it eventually. However, when I tried it on, it fit perfectly, maybe a little on the small side on the backlength end. And I thought, well shoot, if she grows more, I'll have to buy another one. So I'm buying the 20" to see how it fits on her. I also realized that the coat is adjustable on the backlength on the end so if it's a bit long, you can make it shorter. So, in my opinion, sizing up is a good idea. Overall, it's a great product, but sizing is always hard to determine when you buy products online.

This jacket is great. A little pricey but worth it. I originally ordered the Cherry in a 24". Cherry is more raspberry and not the best color, in my opinion, for a boy dog. So, I also ordered black in a size 24". I wanted a brighter color but black was $17 dollars less in that size. Can't beat that with a stick. So black it was. The accent color, as someone else mentioned, was yellow and not teal. That's okay though. My dog Elvis is an Amstaff mix and between 70 and 75lbs. All of his others jackets have velcro in the front and his superman chest kept busting out of them. This jacket is great. Really easy to put on over his head and then strap about the belly.Although some times he tries to bite at it when I am putting over his head. But overall super easy to get on and off. His measurements were Neck: 21" Chest: 31" and Size/Length: 24". So I got him a size 24". It fits pretty nicely. He probably could have gone a size down but this is fine too. It has tighteners around the neck, chest and near the tail where you can bunch it up some if too long. Also, I don't use the leg straps and it stays down just fine.

We ordered this for our pit/staffy who has very short hair and is almost bald on her tummy. She's 55lbs, chest 29in, and we ordered a size 20in. This jacket fits her perfectly. It feels high quality, is easy to put on, and doesnt constrict movement at all. She did zoomies like crazy all over mud flats and wasnt restricted by the jacket at all. We don't use the back leg straps because they sit weird and would affect her trying to pee. But she did zoomies all over and the jacket didn't slide at all so they definitely are not necessary. We love that the back of it has a middle zipper so you can attach a leash to your dogs harness underneath. Most dog clothes with leash holes are too high but this one is long and works with our Wonder Walker perfectly. The way it wraps and keeps her tummy warm too also earned it bonus points. This also means if she kicks mud up it gets on the jacket which is easy to wipe off and she stays a lot cleaner. Definitely recommend this jacket. I wish they would make it in brighter and different colors as we're often in the woods and like to stand out.

The fit is great, I have a very athletically built pit bull, tall. slim except his chest is large dee[, but he has a slim neck and body so it is super hard to find anything that is big enough for his chest but with the strap, it's narrow enough for his waist. The The orange color really makes us visible when we walk around town after dark and I feel much safer for me and my dog, knowing it is easier for vehicles to see us, also for hiking in the woods, hopefully now, no drunk hunters will think he's a deer. It's super easy to take on and off and it fits him snug enough that it's not falling off. He actually likes when I go to put this coat on him,and no velcro to get stuck in the wash with other items The only thing I really don't like is the little cheap elastic bands that go around his rear thighs. They are worthless, so I'll be cutting those off, but they don't do anything anyway. Other wise, compared to all the other coats I've used on my 85 lb, now 15 year old American Pittie Terrier, this is the best cold weather coat I have ever had for him or for any of my dogs.

My dog loves to go on long walks where she can sniff to her hearts content no matter the temperature or conditions. Other jackets I've tried often had velcro closures which would get filled up with snow and then would lose it's grippiness defeating much of the purpose of having a coat on her at all. As a hound mix, she's doesn't have a thick coat of her own which gets tough in New England winters. This coat is very well designed and made. The fact that it is a single buckle closure makes it easy and quick to get on and off. The coverage of her belly as well as her back legs and neck keeps her toasty warm no matter how long we are out.The coat is clearly designed for active dogs and has great coverage without being restrictive to her running around like a maniac. When we walk, I use a harness on her, so the fact that this one also has an opening on the back to connect a leash to her harness was a huge bonus since virtually all of the others I looked at didn't have this feature.I would highly recommend this coat if your pooch loves to be out in the snow.

I bought this for my Golden Retriever who is 95lbs and measures 23" neck 35" chest 26" between shoulders to tail so I bought a size 26, I'm always so hesitant about ordering things on line but this is a really nice coat and it fits him with some of room to grow (hes only a year old so I'm sure hes not done growing). It has an adjustment down the middle of the back for adjusting the lenght and also for around the neck. Its really easy to put on covering the chest and the strap comes around the chest and buckles over the back. There are also elastic straps to hold down over the back legs(although I never use them). A little pricey but made really well, fits great, and really easy to get on and off.If I would say anything negative about it, it would be that I'd like to see a little more reflective material on it, But after I turned a flash light on it I was impressed how reflective it was, even the adjustent cords glowed. Would highley reccommend this coat
