OK. I was looking for a bargain and at the equivalent of 200 quid or so, this new handset promised to be it. And the design was highly attractive. A nice, clean candy bar. I was shown a white one by the helpful assistent. The packaging is compact and pleasing too. It came with a guide that was not much use in explaining how to get the sim card and SD card in, alongside headphones and USB+charger. (This phone incidentally is described as being dual-sim, but that is not really the case as it is actually a question of choosing between having two sim cards in the phone, or having one sim card plus SD card). The internal memory is 16 gigabytes, but a large part of this is swallowed up by the software used on the phone.I have only just discovered there is a stylus to go with this phone too, though none was supplied with this box. Pity. The keyboard is actually pretty fiddly, though I have heard that the touchscreen works better without the protective cover it ships with. It also seems to be a lot less flexible than a Samsung in allowing me to write in more than one language: it does not seem possible to download other languages for editing in either, so it will not recognise more than one language at a time (and the same goes for browsing with it too). For dealing with documents I prefer the more forgiving size of a phablet, which I also possess.I was warned that unlike the Real Thing, the P8, the back was made only of plastic not metal, but that is the least of any reservations I might have had about this cheaper version of the P8. I was actually more interested in the specs. But anyway, the brushed plastic again makes the phone highly aesthetically pleasing, though the lightness of the handset made it seem flimsy to me. Truly lite-weight.There have been moans that this phone was not shipped with Lollipop, though mine is. What this OS means in terms of various capabilities I have still yet to discover but in terms of computing - for example, uploading artworks to sites such as Red Bubble and editing them, this phone actually actually does seem to be a better tool than my older Kit-Kat phablet. So the OS is a newer one and I now hope that this handset will get Marshmallow in the fullness of time.I was also looking for speed. I wanted 2 gigabyte RAM at least, as even older high-end phones I have purchased before now seem to slow down very quickly. This generous amount of RAM (for a budget phone) is coupled with an octo-core 1.3 processor, and eight does seem to deliver more than four. The acid test might be, however, whether this handset will still be fast after a year or two of usage. The camera has 13 megapixels in the rear, the front selfie phone 5 megapixels. The software is said to be very limited in comparison with what the bigger P8 can do but so far, the photos I have taken seem satisfyingly crisp. It is not said to be able to take good photos in dark conditions, though I tend to use the camera where good daylight is essential. Meanwhile the other camera does very well when set to beauty: so much so that I was beginning to wonder if this might not be one of this phone's unique selling points. The display does not reach the magic number of 1080! Nevertheless, the images on the phone seem bright and sharp enough to me. But this is a phone, not a phablet or tablet and the plan was not to use it to watch that many videos. In other words I intend to use it as a phone first and foremost. As a phone it takes and receives calls with few glitches that I can detect and there is nothing wrong with the sound quality. It did take a while to work out how to delete old threads. Music-wise, the microphone at the front end of the phone is pleasingly robust, meaning that the phone can be used as a mini hifi without the music sounding unduly tinny. I was disappointed, however, with the sound quality on the headphones - recently though, I have found that a good-quality pair of handsets creates a perfectly acceptable MP3 walkman, too.One other niggle - the files ikon does not actually show up my files! - this meant that I had to download a decent file manager from Google Play. Not a massive chore, though it did seem to be a bit of an oversight.By the standards of some actually, this handset is not a dwarf by any means. However, it is certainly no phablet either and the display is smaller than the size of the phone might leave a user to believe. The battery seems robust enough. It is non-removable, which may not please some.On the whole I would certainly recommend this phone to anyone who wishes for a big package in terms of specs, alongside a spare and elegant appeareance that is compatible with a limited budget.

So I've been using this phone for over 4 months now and I am happy to say it is a very good phone, especially for its price, I've had no problems that make me want to get something different.Aesthetics: It looks and feels like an expensive and professional phone, although some say they copied the design off an iPhone but either way it is really nice.Battery: generally the battery isn't the best but it does last me the day, sometimes 2 days per charge but the charging is quite quick. Also there is an "Ultra Battery Saver" which I've noticed to only drop by 20% over a weekend including using it every so often.Camera: The rear camera is really nice,I've had no problems with it and majority of the photos I've taken are of a really good quality. I also use universal lenses which works really well with it. The front I have had problems when in darker conditions but I'm not one for using the front camera.Software:Looking through the app list I see next to none bloatware which is nice. It comes with a phone manager app which is useful to tidy up your phone occasionally. The operating system itself is okay, it's nice and smooth though I have downloaded a home screen app to make it look better. It is currently on Android Lollipop but I've seen that marshmallow is in development and is said to run better with some more features like screen recording and more gestures.Speed: The phone is mostly very quick, I occasionally get drops in performance but this lasts for a few seconds. It had ran all the apps and games I've tried well without issue.Pros:-The phone is very good and is probably the best for its price range-It looks and feels professional and expensive, again very good for its price.-Comes with very little bloatware-Rear Camera is very good (From closeups/macro to landscape)-Very good performance with very little stutters-New update should be released ota soon.-Gestures such as double volume down for instant photo, but also 4 app launching from screen off (w, m, e, c) although I would like to see more freedom in terms of more shapesCons:-Problems with front camera in low light.-Screen can get chipped around the edges easily if you are not careful (But they aren't easy to notice)-From what I can tell gyroscope had been disabled in a recent update so no Google cardboard...If you want to save money from some of the bigger companies but still get a very good phone, I say this is the phone for you.

A great phone for the price, does everything I want without all the unnecessary facilities that I had on my Samsung Galaxy S4. Fast (Octa core chip) and good 13mp camera. I bought the black plastic cover on Amazon which gives the phone excellent protection and a good feel. Very practical with 2 Sim slots (great if you travel abroad much) or use the 2nd Sim slot for an SD memory Card up to 128gb, enough storage for 14 hours+ of movies or tens of thousands of photos. Fixed battery lasts all day which is about average for a smart phone. Free cloud backup provided by Huawei plus a utility App that keeps the phone in good shape, plus a thick gorilla glass screen I recommend this phone, the quality of which bellies the price.

I received this a few days ago in the lovely gold colour. Mine is running Lollipop though I have heard some handsets abroad are shipped with the older software. To me it really doesn't make a difference as I prefer to use Solo launcher to change the looks of the screen. Its a fast phone with no lag, unless you put it on the Ultra battery saver mode.. (it promises upto 22 hours on a single charge)The gold colour is so nice, one of the reasons I bought this was because most other androids on the market look a bit too black and white! This is the perfect mid range option and in my opinion out performs most of the big names.

Great phone, I've had it for 2 months now and I love it. I used to have an iPhone so was dubious about moving across to another (and less popular) brand. However, it does everything that my old iPhone does - great photo quality, lots of settings, the interface is android but this is nowadays pretty similar to iOS. The only negative I would say is that the keypad auto correct isn't amazing, it doesn't correct words as well as iPhones. However, I'm sure this will be improved through system updates. I would highly recommend this phone to anybody looking for the technology but not the price tag!

I bought this mid contract as a replacement for a broken S7 edge. Whilst it's not quite a Samsung I was impressed with its speed and functions. The screen is bright with vibrant sharp colours. The video playback is smooth and crisp with no lag even when sharing to a tv.The camera whilst not 4k quality takes a decent picture but it does have a slight delay so you can get the occasional blurred pic if not careful. The build quality is good and with no glass to crack should be pretty resistant to cracks. In summing up it was so good I bought another one for my daughter who loves hers..

I have looked at all the rest and mostly you are paying for a name or company that makes big profits, this phone has everything you would wish for, I am in an area of bad O2 reception but this phone has not had a problem, it has everything and more of what I need. Very clear screen even in sunlight, good clear speaker and brilliant camera, never knew just how handy a phone camera could be . The supplying company was contacted and I got an immediate reply and follow up to ensure everything was 100%, I think it is so good I am buying my son a similar phone.

Can be bought from high street phone shop for less than £100 - currently even less. This version is unlocked (a trait of Huawei phones it seems even when others would be locked to the sellers network) but only seems to be set up as single sim. In any event may want that slot for SD card.Decent screen (but brightness needs to be ramped up), light weight, works smoothly, gorilla glass, sound ok, camera ok but not as good as should be when consider is 13 MP. At the price though, a bargain phone.

excellent phone just as good as a samsung id say even better!! yes it does have a vodafone logo and some vodafone tools on the phone but you can edit these so they don't come up on the home page. The phone comes unlocked and is really easy to use, and very quick and smooth in its running. It also has good battery life compared to samsung where I was charging every day but with this phone I can get away with charging every other day. Definitely recommend it if you want a good android phone.

19.7.2016

This phone is a very nice, compact device with features of a high end device. With a minimum price of £90 in many high street retailers, this phone is definitely worth the money. The camera is great, the phone runs flawlessly and is a very quick device. The battery life is good, lasting 2 days with minimal to average use. The screen is solid and accessories are relatively cheap. I definitely recommend buying this phone

I already bought one a week ago and it was totally worth it. I hit my mobile really badly with a sharp edge and the tempered glass broke but the mobile screen was undamaged. Just bought a second one to replace it. I'm sensirely amazed by how good it reacted as I was expecting both protective glass and mobile screen to be damaged.

29.3.2016

Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the issue with Gmail notifications being very difficult to read on the UI. The email topics are black, making them very difficult to impossible to read from the notification area. The camera isn't at all bad (see attached image), although it does struggle in low light.

25.1.2017

Really nice product. The build quality is as good as any 'big named' device. Its fast in use and very smooth.Well packaged and comes with all leads, headphones and a great little charger.Everything says quailty, i love it.Mine came loaded with Vodaphone software...not sure why but not really a problem.

An excellent mobile especially bearing in mind the price. The model I received had some apps installed in Italian but most of them removed without incident and the others are fine. Looking forward to using the cameras which according to the spec are better quality than my existing camera.

15.7.2016

I had a previous version of this phone and was very pleased with it apart from it being a bit slow. However the P8 is much improved. Don't really know why anyone would want to pay double the price to get the same quality. Well worth the money!
