This review is for the HP Omen Reactor Wired USB Gaming Mouse.I have owned many mice from wired, wireless, both inexpensive and expensive, containing different shapes, designs and purposes. This mouse is considered the mid price range and is a remarkable one for the price nonetheless. I have to give HP credit for its quality, comfortability and its design.Upon opening the box, my first impressions of the HP Omen Reactor Gaming Mouse was that it was it was a larger sized mouse featuring a very unique ergonomic design that is both comfortable and intended for the right hand user.It contains a nice matte shell that surprisingly isn’t a sweat magnet, is easy to grip and feels really comfortable compared to most mice I have used.It is also lightweight, weighing only around 97 grams if you disregard the cable but not as lightweight as others on the market.Originally I thought that the mouse was huge at first, but from further inspection it was perfect for my hands (17-19cm).Having medium sized hands and my preference being a palm grip, this was fine for me as the base of the mouse can be uniquely adjusted to fit for precise comfort and control. It also covered the whole surface area of my palm.Design & Size:(If you would like to see size comparisons refer to the picture where I compare it to the other large mice that size up, both ergonomic and ambidextrous). What I found interesting was its shape. It features an ergonomic design with a high profile, well-rounded base that is spring loaded and can be adjusted for precise control and comfort. Therefore, if you are into lower-profile mice, this mouse enables you to lower it enough that it feels no different from one while maintaining the ergonomic feel.At the left side of the mouse it contains a ridged indent which provides enough space for the thumb to rest underneath the side buttons. This is great because it takes stress off the wrist while avoiding potential miss-clicks caused by resting your fingers on the buttons. The side buttons are also pretty close to the thumb rest, making them easy to reach without repositioning your hand position. The right side contains a smaller indent which allows your index and pinky finger to rest comfortably, and the width of the mouse compliments its comfort. In comparison to HP’s new Photon mouse which is ambidextrous, but features a similar shell and shape to the reactor, the reactor has noticeably more comfortable thumb and index rests. The main mouse buttons are mechanical which make them clicky but responsive, and they contain deep ridges that for your first and middle finger which makes holding it comfortable. Deeper ridges than that of the Photon, which I wish the photon had.Comfortability wise, it is probably the most comfortable mouse I have tried for those with medium to larger hands. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfy it was, that it made me quite disappointed that the more expensive Photon model lacked some of its ergonomics. It also features several RGB illuminations on the scroll wheel and base of the mouse which can be changed to standard breathing cycles, fixed colours or turned off in the HP Omen’s command centre software. But other than that the RGB doesn’t illuminate as bright as other mice. The only subjective drawback of this mouse which may be a problem for some is the wire. The wire is very long and is wrapped entirely in metal which adds significant weight to the mouse. Although, the wire is supposed to stop the mouse from kinking and snagging which it does as the metal separates when pulled. But while it’s a great concept it feels heavy and noticeable when gaming while other mice give you a wireless experience.Texture:It comes in very nice plastic-matte shell which looks and feels premium. If you suffer from sweaty hands but dislike glossy textures, this matte shell seems to hold up well against sweat.DPI & Responsiveness:This mouse has different DPI settings of 100-16000 which is more than enough DPI level for gaming. Most gaming mice are standard 800-8000 and you won’t ever find yourself going above that threshold because the cursor speed will be too quick to use.The sensor is great and its responsiveness is unhindered by any surface I have used it on which makes it useful for using it anywhere that lacks a mouse pad. Therefore, if you’re limited to a table somewhere but you want to game, the sensor doesn’t struggle on them. The mouse has absoultely no latency as well.On the underside of the mouse it has three glossy feet and the mouse glides smoothly.Buttons and Scroll Wheel:The mouse has 6 reprogrammable mechanical buttons that can be remapped in HP Omens command centre. They are are easy to press, evenly spaced and provide little travel between them. There is a larger than usual space between the buttons and their underside than other mice, although they are still very responsive. The deep ridges on the main buttons are very comfortable and follow the outline of your first and middle finger which provides extra grip force. The side buttons are made from light plastic and are very close together, which makes reaching them from thumb rest easy. The scroll wheel is made from a rubber material with small grips which makes it easier to scroll and provides a lot more grip surprisingly than other mice due to its anti-slip texture.Connectivity:The mouse is plug and play. Once it is connected, you should be able to use this mouse.Overall thoughts:This mouse really surprised me considering I thought that it would be too big.Although it was far from the case. For being mid priced you are getting a mouse that is very comfortable and lightweight with responsive mouse clicks and a good sensor. The only downside is the cable, the weight being slightly heavier than competition and the lacklustre RGB. Although, it is still a mouse that won’t disappointed the right handed user.I would like to see a wireless version of this mouse in future, like the Photon with customisability features but significantly less weight. Therefore, if you are looking for a mouse but don’t want to break the bank, consider this. I highly recommend it.[7 images attatched]

Ive been using this mouse for a few weeks now, and overall, it’s a good low price ‘name’ gaming mouse. It is everything you need in a gaming mouse; responsive, comfortable and durable. Im using it with this mouse mat; TeckNet Extended Gaming Mouse Pad, 900 x 450 x 3 mm XXL Extra Large Mouse Mat, Non-slip Rubber base, Laser & Optical Mouse CompatibleThings I like about it;It is a decent price. Finally, a good price for a gaming mouse that isn’t a no-name knockoff! The rubber finger strips are real rubber rather than a spray rubber coating. The spray rubber coating on my older mice has worn off after 2-3 years, but the rubber on the Omen looks like it will last. This is a large, traditional mouse shape. It is bigger than my largest current-gen mouse (Razer Basilisk) and is actually comparable to the older Logitech MX5xx series, back from a time when mice were always big. It’s longer and almost as tall as the biggest mouse out there; the productivity Logitech MX Master which I also own and use at work (I’m a web developer). You also get three 5g weights with the Omen if you like your mouse both big and weighty. It is a comfortable shape and size. No fluff to make the mouse look more gamey at the cost of usability and comfort. The wire is cloth braided, which is less likely to tangle or drag on your table than the cheaper plastic sheathed wires. It is also less likely to split at the point the wire enters the mouse (which is by far the most common point of failure anywhere on a modern optical mouse, other than dust build up on the internal wheel sensor). You can completely configure the mouse without using drivers, so no requirement to compromise your PC start-up with bloatware update checks (I’m looking at you, Logitech/Razer!). However, this is because the mouse is strictly plug and play; there is *no software to configure the mouse at all* on the HP product page nor in the box. You may see that as a major disadvantage especially if you use things like per game configuration.Although the mouse only has left/right click, DPI and the standard forward/back buttons, you can go into slow/sniper mode by click-holding the DPI button. So you have all the controls that most current-gen mice have.Matches my Omen screen; Omen by HP 25-24.5 inch Gaming Monitor (AMD FreeSync 1980 x 1080 Pixel Full HD (FHD) 1 ms 144Hz Refresh Rate) - BlackWhat I don’t likeThe main left/right buttons sit a fraction of a mm above the pressure switches. When you rest your hand on the mouse, there is a little bit of give in the button plastic and a tiny click as the plastic rests on the top of the pressure switch… which makes it feel a tad flimsy. Mouse manufacturers take note; this always, always feels cheap… don’t do it!There is no configuration of the mouse wheel. I like a looser mouse wheel, and there is no way to do this. The compartment to hold the weights has 5 spaces and it was clearly designed with 5 in mind, but you only get 3 weights. The box contents specify three so it is not a random packing error, but rather an obvious late-in-design cost cutting decision. Boo!So, overall, this is a good gaming mouse at a good price point. The only real downsides for me are lack of mouse wheel configuration (but to be fair, this is more to do with when I use the mouse for coding; I often scroll through lots of code during the day!), and a bit of obvious price cutting on the included weights. But if you want a cheap but good gaming mouse, get this one.

A proper decent quality gaming mat that I’m very impressed with. I’ve been a PC gamer for decades now and I’ve been through my fair share of mouse mats. This one from HP is up there with some of the best I’ve used, and I really mean that!It has a very thin profile to it but not thin enough that you can bend or roll it and the underside has a very grippy rubber base that sticks very well to my desk, it literally wont move, even when I purposely try to slide it. The top of the pad has a very slick surface to it and gives little to no friction when moving your mouse across it, its so good that sometimes it feels like the mouse is hovering above the surface. Its one of my favourite things about the mat,it really is super slick! The quality of the materials used is great and the finishing is excellent with no bits sticking out or any lumps anywhere. It has a logo in the bottom corner which if I’m honest I have no idea what it’s meant to be, but it does add to the “gaming” aspect of it else it would probably just look like a sheet of plastic. To get the best out of it I recalibrated my mouse to the surface, after this the mouse tracked perfectly and I had no issues of any kind. I’ve given it several hours of playing the new Call of Duty game and I really couldn’t fault it one bit. I’ll mention it again, but this mat has some seriously low resistance and I really love how the mouse glides across it, it hasn’t improved my game, but it definitely helps with consistency. I even love the little details like cutting the corners, so your wired mouse doesn’t get caught, an often-overlooked feature when designing gaming mats and one which I have experienced multiple times.Overall, I can’t recommend this mat highly enough, it does everything you expect it to and more. The current price of £16.99 is about right for something like this and HP claim it should cope with more than 250km of mouse travel so that makes it good value for money. Its definitely going to keep its place on my desk for the foreseeable future and I hope it stands the test of time well. I have no issue recommending this item and I look forward to their next version of it with RGB lighting built in!

The "HP Omen 400 Wired USB Gaming Mouse , Optimized Mechanical Switches, Quick Adjust 1600-5000 DPI Optical Sensor, Sniper Mode 400 DPI , RGB LED, Customizable Buttons" may be considered as a minor upgrade on the very basic-featured mice supplied with HP's Omen series and others of desktops and laptops, not just the few listed. While described as a gaming mouse it is not one that a serious gamer is likely to choose.Build quality is similar to HP's standard and long familiar mouse products whose design it very closely follows and it lacks the weight and additional features of a typical heavy-duty gaming mouse. In pricing, it is fields apart although still affordably priced and is wired as most gaming mice are.Whilst it has extra features, not least its DPI adjustment, it needs neither the complex driver and mode-changing software as used by Logitech, Razer, Roccat and other dedicated gaming brands. The mouse is not equipped with multi-coloured LEDs or multi-functional buttons as are more advanced models. It performs sufficiently well in all respects, suiting the simpler games rather the advanced ones that depend on non-existent features. It will suit the occasional gamer with modest needs, who will use it for everything as it could last a lifetime. It is very priced well within the double-digit range. It is worth buying as a first-time gaming mouse but most serious gamers will probably seek one that looks and feels the part rather than laying claim to it.

First impressions are always important when it comes to gaming peripherals, and this mouse delivered - to an extent. The most important, performance -I did what most people first do with gaming mice, I jumped into a game of Cs and see how long it took for me to get used to the mice and how well or badly, it performed. Overall, it performed well, i found it easy to get used to, it was very accurate and there was no lag between the mouse and the game at all.Ergonomics-The mouse is relatively comfy to hold, the thumb grip is textured for grip and my thumb rested fine on it. The mouse doesn't feel too small or too large. The problem I had was i wan't sure where to rest my pinky which cause a bit of discomfort. Also the mouse was very lightweight, this made it feel rather cheap.Technicals-By pressing the DPI button on the top of the mouse you can change the DPI of the mouse, each colour represents a different DPI setting;Red: 1600 Green: 3200Red-Orange: 2000 Blue: 3600Orange: 2400 Blue-Violet: 4000Yellow: 2800 Violet: 5000Aesthetics-This mouse looks fine, I prefer customisable RGB but thats just personal preference. You can somewhat customise the RGB, by holding the different buttons together, you can change it so it fades throught the spectrum or flash so thats good.Overall-If you're looking for a cheap mouse with the basics covered by a big brand, this is a very good choice.

I've always used fabric-topped mouse pads until this one and I actually really like it. I couldn't get on with the slippery material to get on with first so turned the speed down on my mouse to compensate for this, but there are a number of reasons why this beats a soft mouse pad.Pros:- Ease to clean! The soft mouse pads I own are a nightmare for dust and dirt and they look really grubby. You can polish the top of this mouse pad easily and it doesn't get dirty- You can place it on soft surfaces like a sofa whilst working on your laptop and it stays stable, flat base for the mouse- It's a good size for the amount of movement you'll need with your wrist- Comfortable to rest arm on (I use avertical mouse)Cons:- It is quite slippery and thus hard to get used to if you're used to moving your mouse slower. Like I mentioned it's worth turning down the mouse pointer speed if this bothers youI'd highly recommend this pad for the performance, durability and the fact it looks professional and also techy at the same time. I'm a web developer so need good tools for the job and this is now.certainly one of them.

We have been using this mouse pretty much daily for quite a few weeks now, so that I could comment on its reliability. It's been been connected to an Omen gaming laptop, mostly for playing games, but with use on Office etc.My daughters have given this mouse a right bashing and it works as well as it did out of the box several weeks ago. It's very fast compared to a wireless mouse, it's comfortable to use and the adjustable palm rest does occasionally have its uses. My daughters particularly like the colour-changing lighting!Set up was straightforward as I already had the Omen command centre app installed; unfortunately I find it pretty limiting apart from the cosmetic lighting effects.Dpi can be set here, but it's easily adjusted directly from the mouse. The reason for 4 stars is the app and the difficulty in programming the two side buttons.

If you're right-handed and don't mind a bit of cable-clutter, then this Omen mouse is probably as good as you're going to get.To be honest, I'm not that much of a fanatic gamer to tell you whether this will give you the edge over a wireless mouse, but it feels extremely comfortable and works perfectly.Every button has a nice tactile click and the scroll-wheel has a quality action with just the right amount of resistance. With its styling and light show, it's a perfect match for my Omen laptop (see photo). Also like the cut-away design.I had the Omen Command Centre already installed on my laptop and it detected the presence of the Reactor mouse automatically.Be aware though that its asymmetrical shape may not be ideal for left-handed users. But for me,I love it!

This mouse has a lovely feel to it. Then again I am right handed and I am not sure if they do a left handed version. Your thumb rests on a soft textured non-slip groove with buttons above and below. It fits perfectly in my hand, but I have small hands, with my index finger running along the left mouse button, middle finger on the wheel and ring finger on the right button. The acceleration settings are on the top and indicated by an LED light. At the top acceleration the slightest flick of the wrist and you are off the screen. At the slowest it has amazing detail and sensitivity. I have not yet enabled all the features but I am a very happy user.

I've owned a lot of gaming mice over the years - often a good deal more expensive than this one. As such, I feel pretty well placed to say this is a very good mouse that has all the precision and responsiveness you could wish for . It's easy to set up, and doesn't require any special equipment. However, it does suffer in that it doesn't come with much in the way of extra buttons - as such, you are a little bit limited in how much you can accomplish with it in comparison to a decent gamepad. So, good - but not quite good enough to fully recommend given its intended demographic.

I've noticed some folk think this one too big. And, yes it is, pretty heavy too, in comparison with other mice I've used in the past, but actually I think that's not a bad thing, particularly.I find the heft of it pretty good for games where you might need to move your mouse about a lot. It means you don't get that "pulling a drawer out too fast" thing you sometimes find with light mice. It's got that gaming ugliness that this stuff usually has, but it's absolutely far from the worst. The price is high, but not horrendous. You can do worse, I think.Recommended.

Really liked this. Felt good when weighted with the right weights (I like a heavy mouse) and the accuracy and tracking was excellent. Felt very natural to hold and felt like it was durable. It's not wireless (Don't like them anyway to be honest) Cable is a good length and equally durable. The resolution for tracking is done on the fly which is cool so you can adjust for whatever game you are playing. All in all a good effort from HP. Certainly as good as any Logitech and equally as good as an overpirced Razr.

HP Omen 400 Wired USB Gaming Mouse.Overall my teenage son is really happy with this mouse's performance.Easy to set up and comfy to use, this fits nicely in the hand and is slightly on the large size.My son is right-handed so this review is for that. You can also change the DPI with a click of the button here various colours represent the different levels. This is a wired mouse and we thought it great value for the price.Overall we were extremely happy with this and would recommend.

This is well packaged, and looks so sleek and modern. It's definitely more suited to gaming and is ideally used with HP computers and laptops but is fine when used with my Sony vaio desktop. It's ultra easy to set up, I just plugged in and it kind of sorted itself out. Seems very accurate on the screen and it's the usual high quality you'd expect from HP. Feels very smooth and ergonomic in the hand. Overall, very impressed by this and seems worth the extra money over lesser mice
