This was our third Hot Wheels set, and the weirdest by far. We have no idea what the narrative story is behind cars being swallowed by a shark during a surf competition, and even our normally imaginative kids were at a loss about how to work it into any kid of existing story.Only one car is included in this set, which seems rather ungenerous since the idea is that a second car launch will ‘rescue’ the first car from the jaws- only a problem if this is your first and only Hot Wheels set, but worth mentioning nevertheless.The shark is properly mean-looking and our youngest was in genuine fear of having his launch car being swallowed, though you can adjust the launcher so that the car just bypasses the shark completely which was a relief.

Hotwheels seem to be on a bit of a roll right now with load of cool stuff coming out that even as an old and crusty grandfather I can appreciate.Even better my two twin - boy and girl - grandchildren love the stuff. It's a perfect excuse to relive my younger days. And after all, in reality us blokes never really grow up.Anyway, Hotwheels have a load of interactive toys that all join together to make up a massive city of objects and machinery that is activated or interacts with their cars.This one is a sort of wall of death where the idea is to get the cars onto one of three catching sections past a sharks head that grabs a car that tries to scoot through it's mouth.It's of course colourful and fun which,

This Hotweels set certainly met with the approval of my 6 year old nephew - who is a fan of both toy cars and sharks.On the plus side, it's easy to assemble and generally quite good fun to play about with, particularly when you eventually manage to get the car in the shark's mouth.On the minus side, my main niggle is: why all that terrible plastic packaging that just goes straight in the bin and later to the bottom of the ocean in order to annoy David Attenborough? There is absolutely no need for it. Additionally, the game is actually quite hard to play - it's the sort of thing that could really be made to appeal to a child watching a TV advert when in fact it's actually quite laborious and requires many tries to aim the car where it's supposed to go.

My Son has several Hot Wheels sets and loves this Shark beach battle which he has already linked up to his other sets.The set comes with one car but there is more play value if you have two or more. After an easy set-up the idea is to aim the launcher so that the cars whizz around to the victory podium if possible but care needs to be taken that the shark doesn't catch a car in its mouth. If the shark does catch a car in its mouth then the idea is to use another car (not included) to whack the shark and release the first car.The set can be connected to other sets at the connection points and is a good bit of Hot Wheels fun.

But is easy to put together and play with. Combined with other hot wheels items, this is worthwhile but as a one off, your child with bore quickly. The aim is to fire the car through the sharks mouth (round a circular speed ramp) and land the car in slot one or two. Not easy, so therfore good to play for a while. We have combined with other hot wheels activity stuff and so the value is greater than if it were a sole item.

This is pretty straightforward to set up and can also be dismantled easily to be put away. My 5 year old was very impressed with the look of it and there are different ways to fire the car. It's great that it can be connected to other hot wheels sets. This means you can extend the narrative play. Overall its a fun set for hot wheels fans.

Easy to assemble. It does come with instructions with all the steps to help you. It also comes with a little hot wheels car. We have been playing with it for hours. It's great fun and exactly as described.

Son enjoyed this toy, takes a few attempts to get the car in the sharks mouth so isn’t as easy as some of the other hot wheels toys and is more challenging but fun

Bought for my grandsons 6th birthday, he was really happy when he saw it, both him and his 3 year old brother love playing with,and so far its standing up well!

My little boy loves it but you have to hit the shark pretty hard with the car to get it to release it’s grip!
