Needless to say, the reviews for this controller are really mixed, but used to have an X360, and thought I'd like to use an asymmetric controller, again, so took a chance.Paid £22 for my Onyx from Amazon reseller "Hainault_Treasures", who sent it within the estimated delivery time.Initial impressions are basically good and have found a few of the comments in other reviews to be just plain wrong. Possibly there have been updates or patches, which may explain the inaccuracies.Pair / connect this controller to the PS4 via Settings > Devices > Bluetooth Devices. Once in Bluetooth Devices, press and hold the controller's SHARE button and then tap the PlayStation button. The light on the controller flashes,it turns up as a selection in the Bluetooth Devices list. Select it with the currently enabled controller. You should now find the Onyx works.Once paired the PlayStation button DOES switch on the PS4 like a normal PS4 controller. The light on the controller behaves, in terms of the various colours displayed, in the the same manner as the light bar on a DS4 / regular controller.Though the controller didn't charge from a USB cable plugged into the wall, it did from a cable plugged into my TV (LG) and a YouTube reviewer I watch said it charges from a laptop USB port, too. So not just the PS4, but not as versatile as a DS4. Granted, a little awkward, but not a deal-breaker if you want asymmetrical sticks. In terms of feel, it weighs slightly less than a DS4, but there's not much in it. Once it's in the hands, the textured underside feels good. I've not found the feel of the sticks particularly different to a DS4.Not had problems with lag or battery life mentioned by other reviewers, as yet, but will try to remember to update the review if I do. Do tend to have vibration off, which extends battery time, anyway.Haven't got an issue with the lack of a light bar, as never used it for any games, or the motion controller.Similarly, I plug my headphones into the PS4 USB port and line out on my TV, so the lack of headphone socket's not an issue, for me, either. There are a couple of ergonomic issues, for me, at least. The OPTIONS button is poorly placed. It feels awkward to press, you're reaching over or around the right stick. The second may only be a temporary thing, as I get used to asymmetrical sticks again, but I find left-stick-clicking awkward, too, but this may just be my thumb position being used to the DS4.I think this is a decent controller, for the price I paid. However, I'd say unless you've just come over from Xbox and cannot stand the DS4 layout, I would ultimately recommend you bite the bullet and pay up for a DS4. You can usually pick them up for £40-45 new, if you're patient. Ultimately, the DS4 just feels better, to me, now. At the £22 I paid it's a reasonably priced backup controller, but I think I'll only really use it while I waited for a new DS4 to arrive.

Bought one of these at release as I have been a long-time adorer of the xbox style controllers, but didn't want to go for one of the prior wired offerings around.Pairing was very simple: start up PS4, select devices, add bluetooth device. (I suspect some people have neglected this part).I knew going in that it had no speaker or headphone jack, and that the light on it (while RGB - for enumeration/identification purposes) would not operate as a PS Move tracker. (I suspect some people didn't actually read the stats). Now, many months later, it is still working fine even having dropped it a few times on laminate flooring, so I'm not going to belabour the aspects that work, simply suffice it to say it does what it says and I've been happy with it, and prefer it to the DS4.HOWEVER.The battery life is unpredictable; sometimes it seems to last a week with no charging, sometimes only a few hours. All with my usual 1-4 hours gaming per day, so while it is wireless, I tend to keep a long micro-usb cable close by.

Before I start I must say that I did purchase this controller from Amazon Warehouse during a 20% off promotion. Therefore I only paid around £13 for it. Its condition was listed as "very good" but when it arrived it was still sealed and untouched by human hands... Result.I bought it for 2 reasons. Firstly, I love the Xbox One controller layout so wanted that for the PS4. It does not disappoint on that front.Secondly, I wanted a controller for a second player and didn't want to spend much. Both boxes ticked. The feel of it is nowhere near that of the official PS4 controller. It feels cheaper bit not bad. There isn't a lightbar on the controller like there is with the official controller so it isn't any good with VR or logging in using the camera. If I paid full price for this controller then it would be going back. There isn't a headphone/headset input on this either. I use headphones through bluetooth through my tv anyway so not really a problem here for me.

Great pad, build quality is on par with official pad. If you prefer asymmetrical sticks this is definitely for you. Sticks are slightly looser than the official pad but are very good, thumbs don't slip off these when holding down the L3/R3 like mine sometimes do on the official pad. Buttons, triggers and d-pad are good... Triggers have slightly less travel than official pad which can be an advantage in some games. It connects via Bluetooth rather than the way a normal pad does (which is why the one star review person might have been having problems)Lost a star due to having no headphone jack for the ps4 earbud style headset. Also it has no lightbar (I have no use for a lightbar with the games I play, but some people might)

I don't understand some of the reviews. To sensitive? Yes, it is sensitive but in my opinion it is good side of it.Input lag? Give me a break. Get some live people.Who cares about 0.01 or even 0.001 of the second? This is so sad.Only fact is that controller is a little bit smaller than PS one/look pictures/. I don't know if it's good or bad. Suits me but I guess may be a problem for someone with big hands.Anyway. If you like "Xbox like" controller layout this is perfect balance between price and future. If you care about mili or micro seconnd go for something wired for twice of this price and stop complaining. Simple as that.

This is awesome, I read the bad reviews and really hesitated when buying this. Glad I did, it's awesome I've always preferred the Xbox controller and now I can have best of both worlds. There is no delay so those people must have just got dodgey ones. If it does SIMPLE! Go to settings in either the game your playing or the settings on the PlayStation and increase the sensitivity.Yes it has no 3.5mm jack but use Bluetooth it's so cheap now and alot more protected, plus no more wires!Awesome bit of kit, does what it says on the run and is no different then the PlayStation dual shock it works just the same.

Pros :Xbox controller layout!!!!!No input lag. can't not recognize any difference comparing with DS4.good touch pad sensitivity. even better than DS4 itself.Cons :extremely short battery time. around 3~4 hours only.weird charging method. You can only charge it by PS4 itself. You cannot charge this controller by phone charger. It means whenever you charge this controller you have to turn on your PS4 or at least use sleep mode of your PS4.I don't how this controller recognize 5V electric power came from PS4 or phone charger. very weird.

Very good for the price, pairing up to ps4 was a bit of a pain had to reset handset a little hole on the underside of the controller once paired with ps4 it works great its not an official sony product but is endorsed by sony so it is slightly laid out different ie buttons ect,ive been through 3 official controllers in 2 years so ill see how long this one lasts ! (used a plastic straw too reset it by pressing reset button inside the hole)

Really good design. I love the xbox style. Which is what made me interested. The buttons and analog sticks feel really good and responsive. Feels comfortable in hand. Only two things I would change are the L2/R2 triggers (would have liked them to be more like the dual shock 4 type) and the connectivity (would have preferred bluetooth over usb). Overall a very well designed 3rd party official product.

As an Xbox one player and only now just picked up a PS4 console i just didnt like the feel of the PS4 controller or the layout. With this it is perfect it feels exactly like an Xbox Controller (The triggers do feel abit different tho but not in a bad way) It was super easy to connect to PS4 and PC and also charges when the PS4 is in rest mode.Over all i would recommend this product.

I’ve got an Xbox one and a ps4 but will always go for the Xbox one on cross platform games because I prefer the controller. This controller does a good job of emulating the Xbox controller. Obviously would be better if it had a headphone jack but I use Bluetooth so no skin off my back. The pad does everything it says its going to do so im pretty happy with it.

Really pleased with this controller! So comfortable nice built in rumble and well made the buttons are great nice feel! There’s is no lag at all! I’m not great at battlefront but I’m consistently winning, get one for the £20 I paid an absolute steal! No problem with it’s range I can turn this on upstairs and it turns my PS4 on in the lounge....

Before reading - I believe Xbox has the best game pad on the market, but I do prefer a number of games on the PS4. I have now got a great solution as this connects with Bluetooth and has a good response rate up to about 10ft after which there is a fraction of a delay. Best pad for PS4 or Xbox in my opinion. Love it

Was quicker than expected and after my 9 year old went on YouTube and read a review from another buyer he connected the control which 10 out of 10 for that so far am impressed and now 9 and 7 year old can play together if yelling at each other is playing will be buying earplugs for myself next !!!!!

Bought this controller to replace a PS4 dual shock controller as it started with joystick drift. This controller is great value for money. My son prefers this controller to the original PS4 ones now! He said the shape of it is much more comfortable to hold and the features are great!
