The Hedstrom Single Swing is a small garden swing which comes in a flatpack box for assembly. The product listing states that the swing is suitable for children from 3 years to around 10 years old. The enclosed safety guidelines also state that the swing is not suitable for children with a body weight over 45kg. To be honest, after putting the swing up and seeing it in action, this all seems pretty reasonable.Assembly of the swing is relatively easy. I'd say it took me around 20-30 minutes to put up. However, I simply hammered the swing's anchoring poles into the garden soil rather than going the whole hog as the instruction manual recommends and anchoring the swing down into 30cm of concrete for each of the four corners (which seemed a bit over-the-top to me). However,I guess that the swing is only really suitable for kids of around 10 years old if the feet have been anchored into concrete as it suggests. But for our 3 year old twins, after putting the swing together and just sinking the anchors into the garden soil, I think it should be stable enough for a good few years of their use how it is.I guess this is a major factor to consider before purchasing the swing. Because the feet are anchored in place, it's not really something that can be brought out and then put away again later on - or indeed moved about the garden. Okay, so it would only take around five minutes to pull the short poles out of the soil and then re-hammer them in elsewhere - but this isn't something you'll want to be doing all the time.Anyway, the swing has proven to be a big hit with both our kids (3 year old twins) and looks to be made from good quality and sturdy materials, with a solid design that should last for a good number of years of use. The materials used appear to all be fully weatherproof, with the strong stainless steel poles all coated, the seat itself made from hardened plastic and the ropes from a purely synthetic material. The instruction manual is just a double-sided A4 sheet folded in half - but to be honest, you barely need the manual for putting together the swing (it's pretty self-explanatory).So all in all, our kids love the swing, it was simple to put up, looks to be of a pretty good quality, seems to be weather resistant and should last for a good number of years. You can't fault it really...especially for the price! We also have the

So we needed a swing for our 6 yr old daughter and, after a lot of shop visits and Internet browsing, we decided upon the Hedstrom single swing. Amazon were cheapest but we had to go elsewhere to get product info. Hedstrom claim it is suitable for 3-10 year olds and I would agree that 10+ is really asking too much of it.Easily assembled (circa 20 mins with the allen key included), we then set about positioning it on the lawn. First point, like all swings, it needs to be firmly secured. Recommended is the use of of concrete if necessary to secure each short 'ground peg' that is secured to and angled out from the bottoms of the tubular powder coated steel legs. We hammered the arms into the ground and, after considerable testing for peace of mind, we were satisfied that the movement of the arms was minimal and it was safe for the children to use it.Some months later after a hard Summer's use, the swing is still intact and it remains firmly secure.the bright orange chunky moulded seat and adjustable ropes have stood up to the abuse that only 6 year olds seem capable of dreaming up! A firm favourite with our daughter and her friends, the Hedstrom is competitively priced, appears as well made as comparable units and is, to date, durable I think we have got our money's worth!I would just caution anyone buying a swing of whatever type to ensure that they fully understand in advance what may be required to achieve a secure fixing into the ground and safe use!A 4/5 simply because the securing of the ground pegs in the ground was a little prolonged as trial and error more than practical advice informed us best how to achieve the best result.Other than that, great value for money and my daughter reckons it is a winner!

I bought this swing for my 2,5 years old nephew and was surprised at the quality of the swing because compared to other swings in the market this one could be considered cheap; and if installed as recommended in the instructions, I find it to be quite an sturdy one (for young children of course). The parts were easily assembled as the instructions were simple and clear and each part comes labelled to make even easier to follow the step by step instructions. It looks nice in the garden, doesn't take lots of space and right out of the box the height of the swing seat is ok for the little one to "climb" up by himself (he is quite tall though)The worst part: digging the 4 30x30x30 cms.holes required to fix it to the ground. (and mixing the concrete to fill them up)The best part: seeing the little one's face when he woke up to find a swing grown overnight in his garden (a video we'll treasure) :-)

Despite my daughter being under 2 and a half years, we ordered this product for use under close supervision. Was very easy to assemble and secure ( we have not put concrete in as daughter is still very light and does not cause the legs to uproot) and feels sturdy. We will buy a more expensive wooden swing when we have a bigger garden, but for the moment, and for the price, this has been a great buy. Have older kids coming this weekend so hopefully it will be robust enough for wild little boys>

This is not a big swing and I cannot see my daughter using it past 8-9 years years old, however, she really likes it and spends much time on it. It came well packaged and whilst it was tricky to assemble, the result is reasonably sturdy except from one the legs moving but I suppose same can be dealt with by either putting it down in the ground properly or inserting more metal rods into the ground. Overall very happy and excellent value for money.

brilliant swing, my 4 year old daughter loves it!!it's been concreted into the grass and works brilliantlyit's the same swing as on 'Topsy and Tim' just a single onelovely bright colour, easy to put together, perfect size for our small gardendefiantly recommend this swing, worth the money tooEDIT - We've had this swing now for 3 years, no rust, still looks like new and had been left out in wind, rain, snow and hot sunshine.

I am not sure that it is really suitable for a child above the age of about 4. It is not very big. But I am sure my 1 year old grandson will continue to enjoy it, Lancashire weather permitting, for at least another 2-3 years. I left off one star because a cradle seat for young children had to be bought separately and the plastic seat provided is not really suitable for a childe under 2.

Great swing my granddaughter loves it with there's rain or shine it was easy to put together yet it hasn't got any thing less than one that's double it's price. If I had to say anything negative about it it would be that the seat isn't very wide do if you've got a small child who's got a big bum you might need a larger seat.

Good buy for the money. Easy to assemble and is quite solid even when just pinned into the ground. Cementing into the ground is a safety must however. The seat is too light weight though and as my granddaughter tried to sit on it, the seat it kept slipping behind her. With a heavier seat this swing would be excellent.

Daughter uses it daily through summer. Much larger kids have used it too (nephews and nieces) and it has not broken so its a good product. Aditional seats are not easy to come by though, i have been looking for a baby safe seat (the deeper seats with the rope attached to four corners) but cant seem to find one.

Same product as high street retailers for half the price including free fast delivery. Our three year old and her many friends are delighted with the addition to the garden. Sturdy and worth while swing for the money. Easy to construct and ground anchors make extra stable. Highly recommend.

Bought for my daughter who is 3. Follow the instructions. She loves the swing. Has to pull her self up on the seat as it is not low enough, you have to think of ways to adjust the seat yourself with knots to heighten it as there is no mention of seat adjustment. Apart from this its great.

Bought this for our one year old daughter, its comes with a simple seat but we bought a different seat via amazon which is secure for our young girl to use. The frame fits together easily, once out daughter gets bigger we will need to secure it to the ground, but at the moment no need.

The product was easy to assemble with easy to follow instructions and required little effort . My child very much enjoyed playing with the product which is solidly structured and safe to use . It has given us hours of fun and is used daily as it a permanent structure in the garden .
