This is a Lex-Go! game loosely themed around Harry Potter. It is basically the normal Lex-Go! game but with Harry Potter packaging and some spell tiles based on spells from Harry Potter:* Expelliarmus - in Harry Potter it's used to disarm someone, in the game it's used to disarm another player by mixing up their tiles,* Stupefy - in Harry Potter this is a stunning spell, in the game it's used to take a player out of the game for 10 seconds,* Revelio - in Harry Potter this is a revealing spell, in the game it's used to reveal tiles from the draw pile to help you choose a good tile,* Depulso - in Harry Potter this is a banishing spell, in the game you can use it to banish one of your tiles, useful if you have a Z or Q.* Polyjuice Potion - in Harry Potter if you get a strand of someones hair you can use this potion to look like them for one hour, in the game these are the tiles that can be used for any letter in a word. Also if you spell the word Snitch out with your tiles you instantly win because in Harry Potter when you play Quidditch you catch the Snitch to end the game. Lastly Harry Potter words are allowed as words in the game. Apart from that it is the same as the normal game. So basically this is a Harry Potter cash-in. Not that my daughter cares. The game is okay. It has a Scrabble feel to it with each player having letter tiles (which also have numbers on them) and trying to make words, but there isn't a board. And there are some slight differences in that you can insert letters in other words, swap letters etc. We've been having fun with it and there is a flexibility to how you play with it (you are not limited by the rules and we have been making up different games), although you are limited by the number of tiles it has (55 which is less than Scrabble).Other good points are that the case is a L-shaped pencil case which is small so good for storage and also for portability, and the tiles have a nice, solid feel to them.We like.

We have been playing Lexicon Go (or Lex-Go!) since before the summer and instantly fell in love with it as a quick pace game that anyone can win (my 10 year old frequently beats me - as it's not finding the most complicated word that wins, but the speed at which you can form words from your letters with the option to add them to other people's words or swap letters in and out. This version steps it up another notch - with extra 'spell' tiles which change the game play and a few added rules that make for a fun variation of the original game.Harry Potter proper nouns or words or acronyms or abbreviations ARE allowed! There is a polyjuice tile which can be nominated as any letter in a word.If youspell the word SNITCH - you win the round immediatelyThere are a number of spell tiles with different effects - you can only play them once and to play them you simply shout out the name of the spell. The spells are:Expelliarmus - which disarms another player by messing up their tilesStupefy - choose a player to close their eyes and count to 10 before they can carry on playingRevelio - allows the holder to look at any number of face-down tiles in the draw pile before choosing which to swapDepulso - banish one of your tiles from the round if you need to.These additional rules add to the fun if everyone is a fan of Harry Potter - if you aren't, I would suggest getting the original version - which is also brilliant, but this one is for the fans!

The Harry Potter Lex Go word game is a portable word tile game with a Harry Potter twist. Comes in a pouch with 55 playing tiles, the game came be played with 2-4 players.Pros:Presentation: The way this game is presented is lovely. From the L shaped bag with Harry Potter graphics, to the tiles themselves and the H tile charm hanging from the zip.The Tiles: Each letter is printed large, and they're a nice size to hold. There's the Harry Potter Lex Go branding on the back of each one.Portability: Nice size to squash in a bag and take away on holiday with you.The Game: Easy to setup and play.Learning: Good way to teach people to spell.Cons:Tidying up: Quick to put away, however, you're going to want to make sure the tiles are stacked. If you try to squish all of them in you might have problems zipping up the pouch.Game: Younger players and those who have difficulty spelling might find this game less enjoyable.Spell Tiles: You might find yourself picking up the rule leaflet a bit to see which spell does what.Verdict: Perfect game for anyone that loves words. Anyone who enjoys Harry Potter will appreciate the twist this version has. Beautiful presented, I absolutely love the bag. A good size for a travel game.

That compact L-shaped case, full of letters and spell tiles, can bring some awesome entertainment to the table. What's especially impressive, is how it can scale to the players. Younger players can win a round with three letter words which they can readily create, whilst the wordsmiths can aim for more satisfying results. The spells add some fun (and chaos) and there is further interaction between players as you swap tiles between each others words, or adding your tiles in to their words. A round of five games takes about ten minutes, so it's easy to play in short bursts and has no set up or tear down time, making this a real win. It's all presented in a lovely way too.The gold and white bag looks the business and the tiles are well made and durable. Since I'm not Harry's biggest fan, I also appreciate that players don't have to be interested in the theme to enjoy the game. Entertainment guaranteed.

I quite like word games where you have to make words from tiles. But games like Scrabble® can be a pain when playing with some people who take *ages* with their turn. No danger of that with a game like this where the first player to complete a set of words wins the round - it's all about speed rather than showing off the fact you've swallowed a dictionary. The Harry Potter® connection is a bit loose to say the least (and I wonder how much they had to pay J. K. Rowling for the privilege) - just a couple of extras on top of the basic game: there are four wildcard tiles given Potter-esque spell names which allow you to disrupt your opponent(s), a tile to represent any letter, and you are allowed to use proper nouns so long as they occur in a Harry Potter book.A fun game though, and really better with 4 people than 2.

If you love word games, you will love this. It's like a mash-up of Scrabble and Boggle, merged with number game Rummikub.Everyone has 10 tiles, and you have to make words using all your tiles as quickly as possible. The Rummikub mash-up comes in as you can insert tiles into opponents' words to help get rid of your tiles. There are some special tiles in this Harry Potter version that cast "spells" on opponents - you get to mess up their tiles, for example. You can play it that way, or just use the spell tiles as jokers, representing any tile.First to win five legs is the winner. That'll take no more than 10 minutes. The game comes with a handy zip-up bag to hold all the tiles. It's great fun at home, and an easy game to pack and take on holiday, as it is highly compact.

This is a Harry Potter spin on the traditional game of LexGo. The tiles are nicely packaged in a Harry Potter themed L shaped bag. I love the feel of the tiles they are solid, sound substantial and feel lively in your hands. The aim of the game is to get rid of your tiles as quickly as possible by making words. In this addition there are extra power tiles which allow you to do various different actions such as expeliarmus which allows you to swap as many tiles as you like in your hand or revellio which allows you to look at tiles not in play and swap out tiles you don’t want for tiles you do. It’s a nice twist in the original but doesn’t add much to the game play. For Happy Potter fans this isa perfect gift and a great way to encourage language skills in all ages.

I have never played this game before but will now be buying the original version. It is a bit like Scrabble, you have to make words, but the aim is to use up all of your letters. The difference between this and Scrabble is you don`t have to use points just make words by using your own or your opponents letters. It is a fast game to see who uses their letters up first. I was at a disadvantage as I am not that up on Harry Potter as the kids are, hence buying the original game. There are some special Harry Potter words ect to add more fun to the game. The letters come in an L shaped zipped case and is small enough to take anywhere. I will be sending a set to my son in Japan who has an English school,I`m sure his students will love this game to.

This is a loosely-themed Harry Potter version of the Lexicon word tile game. For those of you not familiar with Lexicon, it's like a speed version of scrabble, very similar to bananagrams, where you raise to use all your words to make complete words before your opponents, even using their words along the way. This travel version comes in a neat case, and has some Harry Potter elements (like the joker tiles renamed as poly juice and a quick win option by spelling out snitch) but apart from that it's the same game. The link to Harry Potter is a bit tenous to be honest so certainly not worth buying again just for this, but a good way to introduce the game to those who haven't played before.

This is one of those word games where you all play at once, a bit like banagrams, but with fewer tiles and no grid. The aim is to get rid of your tiles, making words by any means including adding them to your opponents’words orusing special HP themed tiles. My Harry Potter mad daughter enjoys the spell twist and it’s quick to play. Explaining the rules is more complicated than understanding them, you do need to get familiar with the spell tiles though - not a problem to true fans.Love the fact that it’s transportable and good quality tiles - not sure why they have numbers on though and it’s better with 4 than 2 people, gameplay wise. An original and fun game.

I've never played the original Lex-GO! game. I kinda wish I had. This game takes the original , and adds a little Harry Potter flair to it. The rules are quite simple, make words, extend words, change words. Get rid of all your tiles. Add some special spell tiles to the mix to act as wildcards to do specific things, and you can quite easily change the game to your favour. The game is fast, but a lot of fun. It also doesn't take up much space at all, so is ideal for travelling / holidays. If you're a Harry Potter fan, you should already be playing this game. If you aren't a Harry Potter fan, do yourself a favour and get the original.

A fun scrabble-ish game that has been around for ages but somehow I wasn't aware of it. Quick and easy to play, and highly portable. The Harry Potter theme is clearly the hook here, and that is totally find in this Potter-fan-filled household. It took us a little while to get to grips with the extra spells feature, which isn't extra to us newbies, but it all makes sense after a few goes. These days all family games face the challenge of engaging the youngester' interest when there are enticing devices in the house and this one does pretty well - simple to play, but not easy to win, if that makes sense.

19.11.2018

If you are unaware of Lex-GO! then it is similar (but without the board) to scrabble but it is a little more fast paced, you can add to other people's words at any point in the game. The Harry Potter version has all the fun of the original, with a few spells to assist you and also if you can spell out the word snitch you win the game. Sounds simple? Well , it sort of is once you get the hang of it. This is one of those games that you need a trial run at before understanding the nuances but once yo have played for a few minutes you are off and running and this game really is fun.

This game is great fun for the family. Especially if the kids are Harry Potter fans. It's fast moving, encourages quick thinking and helps with learning to spell! It has plenty of letter tiles plus a few special Harry Potter tiles, each of which act as a different kind of wild card - which livens up the game, and tests the memory. My whole family love the game because it is faster moving than Scrabble and allows the younger children to engage with nigh-on as much ability to win as the grownups. Brilliant!

The L shaped canvas bag that holds the tiles seems very robust and built to last. The tiles themselves are not cheap plastic and are a decent size to hold. Now, I love word games and I love Harry Potter so this was going to be a winner with me. It is so quick and easy to get a game going and the tie in cards really complete it for me.The only thing that lets it down is the fact that it doesn't have that many letters to get a really complex game going. However, for a travel edition it is fab.
