A while ago - well two years - I bought a couple of Chineseium airbrushes for I think less than half the price of this one. And they turned out to be really good and within my capabilities I got some excellent results. But, I figured that now I had some experience I would perhaps spend a bit more and go upwards and in the course of looking at all the major brands arrived at this which, seemed to offer a good balance of price vs quality and reviews. It comes in a neat small box with 0.4mm needle/nozzle and is fitted with the 0.2mm one as well as two options for paint reservoir size which, simply push into the angled hole on the top of the brush. It's packaged neatly in a small compact box whichalso stores the spare needle combo and cup.To use it does feel slick with a nice smooth feel to the two stage button which operates in the same way as all the other type. Push down for air and back for paint which is of course variable depending upon how far you pull. With correctly mixed paint or better still the pre-mixed type - I use Vallejo Air acrylic mainly - and it works perfectly with a smooth application and excellent control. And, if I had not used my cheapo Chineseium ones that would be that.But...It's really not much better than my more 'cost effective ones.' Yes, it feels a bit nicer at hand with a slightly smoother action but fundamentally the end result is pretty much the same. In fact I'd say there were some things that are not quite as good.First off the amount of paint delivered which seems to be far higher than that of my cheapo jobbies. I'd say the .2mm nozzle allows more throughput than my 0.4mm no-name brand one. That may be why I see many 0.15mm needle/nozzle's noted when I see various other modellers use of this airbrush. I'll probably buy one too.It does not have a limiter on the needle pull back. Okay, I appreciate that you don't need it, but I like to find the maximum I will spray at and set that as the backstop.I'm not convinced of the need for two cups. The small one is a tad too small and the large one is a bit too big.I am perhaps being a bit picky here but this is not a cheap bit of kit so niggles need to be noted.I am continuing to use this because ultimately it is better than my other brushes and any small issues I have will disappear with use and familiarity. What it does demonstrate is that going cheap isn't always the bad choice because my other brushes are perfectly able to give comparable results but at a fraction of the cost.Overall, a well made, high quality airbrush but, factor in a 0.15mm needle as well because for fine work you will need it.

I bought this mainly for working on painting Warhammer miniatures as a step up from the cheap airbrushes that came in a kit with a compressor. This airbrush is a good piece of kit for the beginner airbrusher - it's higher quality and much more robust and reliable than a lot of the cheap no-name airbrushes and does a good job of both large areas and detail work. It's easy to clean and maintain due to the simplified nature of the internals and unless you're exceptionally careless, it's hard to damage the needle. However, a few of the features that make it great for the beginner make it a poor choice for more experienced painters. My main bugbear is the way the internals and especially the nozzle is designed. It's not possible to remove the crown and expose the needle for very fine detail work or to clean dry-tip - you can only remove the entire nozzle assembly. Doing this while there's paint in the airbrush will cause it to gush out the front and make a massive mess/clean-up job.The nozzle cap/integrated crown has gaps in it which mean that you can't block off the airflow and backfill the airbrush - so no mixing paint in the cup without sticking a brush into it.The detachable paint cups are a good idea but the larger cup doesn't feel especially secure in the airbrush and the hole where the paint goes into the brush is too small to be cleaned easily. I'm never 100% sure that I've gotten all the paint out from this area when I clean it.All in all, this is a good buy for someone just starting out with airbrushing - because of the stripped down nature of the parts, there's less that can go wrong. It also delivers quality results, reliably. More experienced or ambitious painters, however, will soon become frustrated by its limitations and want to jump to something more advanced. For these people, an Iwata Eclipse or H&S Evolution are both the better buy.

This is Harder and Steenbeck’s “entry level” brush which unlike many of its competitors is made in Germany, not China. It’s straightforward to use with a bit of practice and sprays the model making acrylic paints I use, including primers and metallics, without difficulty. Or at least, with no more difficulty than any other airbrush, even the most expensive can be temperamental :-) The brush is light and comfortable with precise enough trigger control.Having two different needle and nozzle combinations, of the same quality as used in H&S more expensive brushes, is very useful, and spare needles and nozzles (which are really consumables for any airbrush) are easily available and inexpensive. The only downside is there is only the one aircap design available, but even without a special “lining” cap this brush can make lines of pencil thickness with practice and correctly thinned paint.Cleaning is straightforward - a supply of good airbrush cleaner (I suggest Vallejo or Ultimate Modelling Products cleaners) is essential as is properly cleaning it after every use. Adding a little Vallejo flow improver to the paint is also a good idea. You can get cheaper (and rougher) Chinese made brushes but you’ll only need to upgrade to something better if you get into airbrushing so you might as well get one made by one of the top two airbrush companies (the other company being Iwata) in the first place and avoid a lot of hassle at the learning stage.

I did a lot of online research before I bought this airbrush. I bought it rather than the Neo as experienced airbrushers say it is easy to clean and good quality parts. It also comes with a 0.4 needle set and 2 paint cups.it is simplicity itself to take apart and clean and to switch needles. Just treat it with careful respect and there should be no problems. It is the genuine article made by H&S. There are other similarly priced airbrushes which are made under licence. Spares though expensive are easily obtainable. It sits nicely in the hand and i have already been able to produce some good results spraying exercises only.- NO hose supplied but actually this was known pre purchase by me and I've made my ownclear hose from some medical tubing. The brush comes with the quick release fitting but this can be un screwed to leave a standard 1/8th inch BS threaded tail 9.2mm BS ( British Standard) if you so preferred. Compatability with hoses and most hobby compressors is assured.- Paint Cups come without lids - not a problem really as you can use it without easily. If you chose you could get some 3D Printed lids or buy them around £7 a throw.- Pinch tip? Some experienced airbrushers recomend this type of tip as its easy to wipe of any acrylics set on the tip during spraying. I've managed without this refinement but one will cost about £8.All in all i'm happy with this airbrush. It's now a case of practice ,practice and more practice!

I have previously owned several airbrushes, but never an expensive one. This wasn't over-expensive either, but on opening the box and first touching it I knew immediately this one was superior to all the previous ones. Its weight alone spoke volumes; reassuringly heavy and obviously robustly constructed. On closer examination the mechanics also were subtly different being more robust and solid and obviously better engineered. I get the distinct impression this airbrush has the same body as its much more expensive brothers, although I don't mean to infer the mechanics are any the less well constructed. Its first job was some priming of a plastic kit. I used the machine as is,straight out of the box without any tweaking. It performed as expected. I was well pleased. Afterwards I flushed it through with airbrush cleaner and used water and a cotton bud to ensure the business end was clean. I have not yet had the needle out.The kit comes with an additional thinner needle and a spare, smaller, paint reservoir. I cannot envisage either being used, as I tend to do no precision work as such, so won't really require the other needle and the smaller paint reservoir just won't hold enough paint for the sort of jobs I do.All said a good purchase, especially considering its no more expensive than infinitely inferior airbrushes. Recommended.

I have owned many airbrushes in my lifetime but this is my 1st from this manufacturer. The build quality is up there with the best and I have been very impressed with the performance. The 0.2mm nozzle size may -on paper- appear restrictive for some, particularly if like me you would use it to spray properly thinned enamels. This is not the case and although i have tried the 0.4 mm nozzle the 0.2mm has become my preferred tip owing to minimum overspray.Unlike some airbrushes(all in my case) you do not need to push higher air pressures through to get this brush to spray with the small nozzle it will happily go down to 15 or 20psiThe broadest spray pattern of 3/4" to 1" is similar using either tip.As I often spray larger models the 5ml cup size is a must.I have since purchased the 0.2mm infinity air cap and crown tip for even more versatility and more importantly tip cleaning after a session. The greatest virtue is the maintenance issue. There are no little spanners-no tiny little nozzles to drop or lose it really is easy. The only issue i have had was when with 1st use there was some bubbling in the cup -this was sorted by hand tightening the air cap and has not reoccurred.I recommend the optional cup cap for the 5ml cup if like me you work within a confined space like a spray booth

Used for miniature figure painting.I gave the airbrush bundled with my compressor a good go but was unimpressed with the results. Performance was erratic and the nozzle blocked at the least provocation. After some research I settled on this model and am very pleased. Fed with a 50/50 mix of acrylic paint and airbrush medium with two drops of each of flow improver and drying retardant, it worked fine, producing a well controlled, even finish and no blockage. Very pleased.Have only tried it so far with the 0.4mm needle. Hopefully one day my skills will be up to detailing with the 0.2mm one.The only negative I have was that I had to scratch the paint out from the inside of the hopper, rather than the cleaner diluting it, but that really is quite minor.

As with others, I started with the cheaper chinese airbrushes as I didn't want to spend a lot to find out I couldn't get on with airbrushing. I've done a few models now with good results but found the airbrush components getting loose and sloppy, but also blocking very easily when priming. So I thought I'd risk a step up. I'm glad I did. I can now spray primer with no blockage and you can feel the quality in the hand. I'm still getting used to it but I'm loving it so far. Very easy to clean to. Like others the only minor niggle is the inability to set the needle end stop, but I think ultimately it will encourage me to develop a better trigger control.I'm still using the cheapo airbrushes as they do work well, but I'm definitely sold on H&S airbrushes.

Complete noob when it came to airbrushing so bought this with the Fox Air Compressor. Not the greatest but I just wanted something to 'get going' with. Now admittedly this airbrush isn't a starter airbrush in terms of cost £££But having done a lot of reading I felt it was important to spend well on the airbrush otherwise it would be folly trying to learn how to use it and I'd only hamper my learning experiences with an Airbrush kit. I also wanted something I could completely unassemble for full cleans for any accidents I was bound to have as I learned. (And I had a few)I was glad I splashed out in the end. Does what it needs to on the tin,I'm sure I could do better but it'll come with practice.

Absolutly love this airbrush! Having used the cheap airbrush imitations in the past I honestly wish that I had taken the plundge and just got the more expensive one right away. With the cheap brushes I ran into so many issues like the nozzles breaking and poorly machined parts making them a nightmare to clean. This brush is super easy to clean and maintain, super fine for detailing, well machined airbrush needle and trigger - the trigger is so much more responsive than the cheap ones. Only thing that would make this brush better would be a fineline nozzle and for the caps to be screwed into place rather than being push fit other than that it is a fantastic brush. Definitly worth the money.

Lovely airbrush from Harder und Steenbeck. The one and only personal downside is the push-in interference fit paint cups which I don't like, although they're probably not a problem I much prefer screw-on paint cups. That's why I saved up a bit and got the Harder & Steenbeck Evolution 2 in 1 kit too.Now that IS a gorgeous airbrush.Photos include 3D printed paint cup lids, models are available online at thingiverse if you have a 3D printer.

Really well made airbrush. Having used it for about a year now can say that I learnt so much from its use. Easy to strip down and clean. Easy to use. Having the two diffrent needle sizes included is super, the .2mm needle is super for smaller detail, and the .4mm needle is great for getting things primed, and putting down those base coats! This was a great replacement for the cheap airbrush I had been using, and I'm so glad I upgraded!

The difference between this and the cheap Chinese airbrush that came with my compressor is night and day. Beautiful smooth trigger action, and the way it sits in your hand is superb. No clogging and very easy to strip down to clean. The extra needle set and paint cup make this a very worthwhile investment. I can't see me having to upgrade for quite some time.

Very pleased with this airbrush, it is easy to use and to keep clean, and is good for fine lines as well as spraying larger areas. I have used more expensive airbrushes in the past and this is proving just as good. My one reservation is that I would like the paint reservoir to be a little more secure.

After using a cheap Chinese airbrush to start and get used to airbrushing. I wish I'd had brought the ultra 2 in 1 earlier as It just gives you a superior finish and is easy to use and clean.Buy it you won't be disappointed.German engineering what more can you say
