This is a jolly little ride on toy, traditional, made from wood, rubber and metal. I have one major gripe though, which means I took a star away from what should have been 5*s perhaps - the way that manufacturers are obsessed with packaging requirements to the point of distortion, just to get a convenient rectangular box with carry handle. There are four long screws, four washers and what I call an Alum key, to tighten the attachment of the handle to the body of the truck. Well I could not tighten the screw and washer without gripping the washer with a pair of pliers. Even then the bottom screw is rather near the wheel so it is hard to turn the key, which hurt my hand to work tightly together the two.Why not just ship it ready made? Would that be so wrong? I like it now it's made, but wasn't so keen on the way it arrived. I expect others will find it no problem and laugh at me for being pathetic! The robust construction means the toy will withstand a fair bit of bashing about outside, it should last for years. We chose it for a one year old great nephew to test drive and it is clearly great for building confidence at that nearly walking stage, and beyond. As a push along walker or a ride on and kick along scooter truck this is just the job. Be aware that it doesn't steer around corners so there is a lot of picking it up and lumping it around by the child to get anywhere other than in a straight line.Red painted, varnished seat, no sharp edges, with sturdy wood and rubber wheels, spongy, grippy handlebars, it is a lovely toy to have around for littleys to rush about on.

This ride-on, push along car is extremely nicely made. It's made with smoothly sanded laminated ply, which has a nice soft sheen finish to it.The seat has been cleverly cut to fit the shape of a toddlers bottom, and the handles for pushing it along are very nicely made with rubber hand grips and a robust silver powder coated finish. There is a large cargo space under the seat, which we have put lots of Mega Bloks in, and the wheels are really nice strong plastic, of a decent size so it's easier to push on carpet and it rides over uneven surfaces well.It arrived mostly already assembled, with only the handle to attach, which personally I would say needs a small spanner or socket in addition to the alkan key (supplied)because the nuts are good quality ones with loc-tite type inserts so they won't undo easily, but that means they are a bit stiff to do up too.My 15-month old son loves this and was happily trundling round the kitchen and living room within minutes of the box being opened. It's built to last, is excellent quality and design and has a very cool retro Allard-type silver grille on the front too. Definately 5 stars for this fab little push along/ ride-on.

A sturdy toy - suitable from 12 months.I tested this with an 18 month old - who was able to use as a first stage sit on - a younger child developing their gross motor skills would be able to use as a push along - as sturdy enough not to topple causing an accident - the handles have a good gripping surface too - which will decrease the risk of children losing grip.I was able to construct quickly (less than half an hour) - with no assistance. The design is strong, the colour is deep and does not look like it will chip easily.I believe there has been a lot of thought put in to the design - and the materials used in its construction - which will please many parents. There is a storage space underthe seat - which my little assistant managed to hide my phone in......The rider is small enough for toddlers but I would imagine that it would do them for a good couple of years as the seat is large enough to support a larger child. My little tester and I had certainly give this Little Red Rider the seal of approval - 5 stars. All in all a great toy which will bring a lot of pleasure to little ones.

This arrived this morning, and has already been well-used by our 14-month old grandson. It comes fully assembled, with the exception of the handle, which must be attached using the nuts and bolts supplied. There is also an Allen key included, though I did need to employ an adjustable spanner to hold the nut steady too. The wooden construction is a treat, and feels solid, and well-made. There is room under the seat for some small toys, but they have to be retrieved through the same gap, as the seat is fixed.I liked the addition of a small ledge at the back of the seat, to stop the child slipping off, and the rider feels heavy enough not to tip over, like some of the all-plastic varieties. The big wheels enable smooth running, whether over carpet indoors, or on the outside patio. The grips on the handles are nice and rubbery, and small hands do not slide off of them. If only the wheels would turn, it would be worth the full five stars.

Generally well made and certainly very study, this more traditional yet modern looking baby walker is popular with both the 14 month old and his four year old brother. It is relatively heavy and quite stable, the main body being of wood with metal framing, and with bright 'plastic' type handles and wheels and rubber tyres. It can be used as a walker, or ridden foot-powered, although there is no steering which will mean a lot of lifting and shuffling to turn corners. There is space beneath the seat to store or carry small items.A little assembly is required, which would be very simple other than the fact that the wheels make access to two of the bolt holes awkward. My one concern is the finish to the edge of the plywood seat, a little more sanding would not go amiss as it is slightly rough to the touch, and I wonder in if in time there might be a problem with splinters.

The only assembly required is attatching the handle. We love the Little Red Rider. It is attractive and has some weight to it to it, so it will stay under control. Can be pushed or ridden and is fun either way. Space for toys under the seat. The rider is well finished. No splinters or sharp corners. The noise it makes is a pleasant wooden trundle, no squeaks. The grippy handles seem like they will be very durable. The weakest part of the rider is the seat. It should bear the weight of any toddler, but it is likely to be damaged by acccident before anything else fails.

The Hape Little Red Rider is a great looking little rider and ideal for any toddler. It’s very robustly made and is reassuringly sturdy and will easily cope with the rigors that a toddler will throw at it. The storage area underneath for toys, etc. is also a great idea and adds to the fun.My only slight gripe is that the seat area is very basic, it’s a pity this wasn’t a more contoured design that’s a little more comfy and easier to sit on for the child, but overall this is a very well made little rider.

I simply cannot fault this little hape rider for younger children.it is very sturdy for children learning to walk and also great for them riding on it when up a bit in age.It is not easily tipped over ans yet is not heavy either. Its a very natural looking rider and will last a long time as it is very durable and has had a lot of wear and tear in the nursery I work in.It is a big hit with the children

This is a gorgeous little walker. Great build and design. My boy has never really got the hand of using it as a ride on toy (at least not self propelled), but absolutely loves it as a walker. It's kept its bright colours and shiny finish despite getting rammed into everything in range. Can't ask for more in a kids walker.

This has made someone very happy- a lot sturdier than I had imagined and beautiful to look at in an old school way I was delighted with it.. Scoots easily and good economic seat position- great indoors and no doubt likewise in summer outside. Great value and design.

Sterdy little walk along that reminds me of one with wooden bricks in that I had when I was little. It is a nice matiral and was easy to put together.

Just right size for our year old Grandson who loves pushing it. He can now climb on and sit down, almost ready to self propel.

My grandson loves it. Can be used for riding on, as a walker and there's space for small toys under the seat.
