I had thought, when I bought it, I was simply replacing a venerable FM/MW/LW tuner, long past its use-by date, with a shiny new FM/DAB tuner for my HiFi cabinet. I was, but the Hama is so much more. I had read and understood the words in the description, but not really their implications. It heralds a whole new approach to music listening for me.When it arrived, I couldn't wait to play with my new toy. The tuner only comes with a Quick Guide to get you started; to get the best out of the machine you need to download the full manual. It is wise to attach at least the wifi aerial before plugging the tuner in, also to unwrap the remote (batteries supplied). Working the menu is easier with the remote than the front panel controls, even after you figure out the tuning dial also doubles as a push button okay/selector. When the tuner is first powered up, you can select the menu language it uses on the small TFT screen in the front panel. That defaults to English. It also allows you to link to a LAN, either through WiFi or cable. A successful connection allows the firmware to be updated to the latest version. It doesn't matter if you miss out on these steps as all are accessible through the menus later. It's possible to use the UNDOK application on phone or tablet. This provides an alternative remote that doesn't tether you to the TFT screen that demands you are within a couple of metres to read it. Until you have everything set up as you want it, it's better to use the remote and the screen, and leave UNDOK for day-to-day use.I connected the tuner to my amplifier using the two supplied phono leads, playing through the main wired speakers. Optical and coaxial connections to the amp are also available, which would utilize the amp's DAC, but I haven't tried them. The tuner looks good to me, matching my other black separates. The screen is small, but readable. A probably Germanic oddity, at least to me, is that the tiny red power LED is lit when the tuner is off, and unlit when the tuner is on.What makes it so much more than a plug-and-play replacement for its predecessor is its connectivity. But first let me talk about the FM and DAB broadcast reception. There is a single FM/DAB coaxial antenna connector. The supplied aerial didn't really inspire me with confidence, being a flimsy plastic covered wire about a metre and a half long. Nevertheless, with it the tuner managed to pick up 11 strong FM signals and over 120 DAB/DAB+ signals (in suburban London). DAB and FM are separate modes on the menu and each can store up to 30 stations in their presets/favourites lists. The quality was as you might expect: FM was somewhat musically superior, but all stations were clear and listenable. I really don't expect HiFi quality from radio.Digital connectivity is through Bluetooth and WiFi (or Ethernet). Both Bluetooth and WiFi use identical aerials, 10cm long cylinders that connect to the back of the tuner and point upward. The tuner found both my 2.4GHz and 5GHz network connections, and happily connected to either. As I have low wireless contention on my network, I can't see any point in using the cabled connection, although I suppose some might say that would have less interference.Internet radio comes through the LAN, and is accessed by another of the tuner modes. What a revelation! I've used Internet radio on my phone before, and sure, I'd read that there are 20,000 Internet stations out there, but until you are presented with them in menu form I don't think it's possible to grasp the magnitude of it. There is a wholly inadequate 30 presets list for this too. You can select by genre or country or popular, or search by name, etc. The stream quality is whatever the broadcaster sends, so it varies, but by-and-large it's superior to DAB. I doubt I'll be missing MW/LW.Bluetooth connection worked more simply than I was expecting. I'd had no cause to use the technology before, but it was simply a matter of switching my phone's Bluetooth on and then selecting Bluetooth mode on the tuner. It found my phone and I paired them up with a click. From there on in, whatever I played on my phone came out of the living-room speakers. To give it a workout, I played the high-quality 320kbps AAC BBC Radio 3 stream, and there was no doubt of the extra sound quality: not CD nor vinyl quality, perhaps, but as good as I've heard radio. Perhaps FM gets this good under perfect conditions, I don't know.I had been worrying whether I should get an external aerial for FM/DAB, but Internet radio almost makes these obsolete technologies. DAB is great for on-the-go listening where Internet connectivity might be patchy, but my living room is going nowhere, and an Internet connection can deliver excellent quality radio. DAB mostly uses 128kbps but with the very old MP2 encoding, DAB+ using the better AAC encoding, but far lower bitrates, typically as low as 32kbps, meaning DAB+ stations can be worse quality than DAB. However even the best radio streams only come in at 320kbps, easily deliverable over even a poor broadband. If the ludicrous number of stations aren't enough for you to pick from, Frontier Silicon, the makers of UNDOK, have an online system that lets you manage the stations and even add extra streams. Unfortunately the high-quality BBC streams can't be added – I tried – so you have to play those via a different route. The next thing I tried produced another leap in quality. Using my laptop, I ripped a jazz CD to a 16bit 48KHz FLAC3 files and put them on a flash drive. I plugged that in the front of the Hama, and selected USB playback in Music Player mode. Wow! This was as good to my ears as the original CD, but I've been playing that through a very old CD player, so I doubt the DAC in the Hama had a lot of competition. I'm upgrading my CD player too, and look forward to a fairer comparison when it arrives next week.I don't have a Network Accessible Storage (NAS) server, although the way things are shaping up, I'm certainly looking to add one, so instead I plugged the USB in the back of my router. The Hama found the files in the Shared Media menu but couldn't play them, giving a "Cannot Open Selected Media" error. I could access the files from my laptop and could access the original FLAC files on my laptop from the Hama (after I'd shared the library). I suppose that means the error's down a router setting and not the tuner. Anyway I played the FLAC music from my PC plus a couple random MP3s to try out a different codec. the tuner performed splendidly.Just as it's possible to play music on my Android and send it via Bluetooth to the Hama, it's also possible to "cast" music files to the Hama over the WiFi from my Windows laptop in File Explorer. It opens up another little window that gives me yet another way to control what plays on Hama – as if the front console, the remote control, and the UNDOK app weren't enough. I suppose if I wanted background music while working on the PC, it might be useful. The ability to similarly cast music streams to WLNA receivers like the Hama has been removed from Windows Edge (why, Microsoft, why?!); now you need a 3rd party app to do that.I haven't tried the other two major inputs to the Hama. The first being Spotify, which I'll look into, and the other being the Auxiliary, which I think is the cable connection for phones, laptops, etc. I don't want to be tied to Spotify, so I think I'll also be looking if there are easy ways to stream the higher-quality Tidal for example, other than Windows casting and Bluetooth. The Hama has a very basic equalizer, which just boosts or depresses bass and treble, and has a handful of presets. Those expecting the ability to manipulate multiple frequency bands will be disappointed. However I like the sound my speakers give and see no need to mess further, (except a little "loudness" at low volume). As well as the phono and digital outputs to the amp, the tuner supports output to headphones, which works as expected, and UNDOK multiroom, which I understand uses the WLAN to broadcast to compatible active speakers, which I don't have.Add in the radio alarm clock function and you can see what I meant by more than just a replacement tuner. The quality of the radio functionality (why I bought it) is excellent. I have no idea if the quality of the streamer functionality will be good enough for the long term, perhaps I'll get dissatisfied, but it's certainly good enough for now. This tuner-plus scores a well-deserved 5 stars from me. If you are looking to move on from old paradigm listening, this will show you what it's all about.

The Hama DIT2100MSBT is available in silver of black and has the distinction of being Hama’s only stand-alone audio component. This multifunction tuner handily fills a niche as traditional tuners disappear from the repertoire of mainstream hi-fi manufacturers. As I see it these are the pros and areas for development of this novel audio component -Pros- Quality of construction seems good overall with substantial feet (the cabinet is metal) and comprehensive accessories are supplied such as an indoor telescopic rod aerial, Wifi/Bluetooth antennae, remote (with 2 x AAA batteries) and an RCA connecting lead.- The power supply is internal – the unit is fitted with a 13amp mains plug with a non-captive figure of 8 connector,so no power brick to worry about.- Roughly standard component width at 43cm (30cm deep and 7cm high) – looks attractive.- Intuitive setup with decent menu systems albeit on a smallish screen.- Access to FM, DAB/DAB+, Internet radio, Bluetooth, Amazon Music, Spotify (but only Premium). Internet radio partner is Frontier Nuvola.- Strong DAB reception, here in Sussex it found 61 stations with the supplied rod aerial.- Hama is good with firmware updates and provides regular support over a long period of time.- Choice of connectivity Bluetooth (inbound only), stereo RCA, optical and coaxial digital output, line out & line-in, USB connection for playback of external storage media on front panel, LAN connection, plus wireless connection (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz supported).- Multi-room capability with a variety of brands via UNDOK app which also offers remote control.- The menu system is intuitive and can be navigated quite easily without the remote.- Screen contrast is adequate with a switchable auto dim feature.- Comprehensive remote with 30 presets for each band plus in the case of Internet radio, you can associate the device with the Frontier Nuvola favourites management page.- Headphone socket plus clock and alarm feature and Alexa compatibility.- Sound quality is good with a well-defined stereo soundstage. As a tuner, the performance equals that of other comparable mainstream brands/models I have owned in terms of sensitivity/sound.- The output to your amp can be flat or shaped using the internal EQ feature – this is odd for a hi-fi tuner separate but it works well, you can also control the volume via the tuner’s remote.Areas for development- Quick start guide isn’t particularly detailed or clear but you can download a more detailed manual.- The rotational feel of the knobs is a bit low rent.- USB socket on front panel won't charge most devices – clearly designed to read audio files only.- FM - reception not particularly strong with indoor aerial.- Support for Spotify Premium only and no Napster support.- 2.8" TFT colour screen (320 x 240 pixel) colour screen is adequate but not as big or detailed as some other devices.- Remote labels are small and lack contrast as they’re grey on white and overall the handset is a bit cluttered although, there’s the option of control by the Undok app.Overall commentsThis is a niche product from a name more associated with photographic equipment than audio system components but it looks reasonably well made and has a lot of handy features. The decent audio output quality will appeal to a more traditional user who doesn't need a network player and wants a more familiar solution to radio listening plus some limited streaming options. Overall, a good quality product at a fair price, I like this piece of kit a lot!

The sound quality is very good indeed. This is a good product. There are two issues which might make it a 'no-buy' for you.The listing here tells you very little and the manual in the box tells you less. Download the full manual from the HAMA site... It too is poor but it is the best you will get. Having said that the set up is intuitive and easy.Customer support is superb. The system is kept up to date with automatic downloads. Some cheaper makes don't do this. What this unit does:DAB Radio - rooftop aerial recommended if you are not in a strong signal area.FM Radio - rooftop aerial recommended if you are not in a strong signal area.It has superb internet radio and requests for missing stations will get them added. It has Spotify and Amazon Music as well as Internet Radio, all built in.It will play music from a USB memory stick or drive. It lets you navigate around the drive too. I only tested MP3 and Flac... both worked MPEG does not work.It has has analogue audio input as well as via input (only) via Blue Tooth from a smart phone or Tablet etcOutputs: Analogue via 3mm analogue; Optical; RMA digital and RMA aqnalogue. The digital outputs are superior. It has a superb remote. It used UNDOK on a mobile device which will allow you to control it remotely. UNDOC is superb.I has a graphic equaliser which tends to distort sound and which does not work with digital outputs.DOWNER 1: It claims to support multi room systems - However that is currently limited to Roberts, Goodmans, and Ruark speakers. Having said that If you really want a multi room system with this check with these manufacturers as I cannot see any of their products listed as UNDOK compatible. Frankly something like Amazon Alexa or Sonos, both running directly of the internet would be easier.DOWNER 2: No Blue Tooth out for Blue Tooth headphones! There is a work around. I use a pair of Senheiser RS 180 headphones. They plug into the analogue out (later models can use the Optical out or analogue out). These come with their own 2.4 GHz transmitter. With the extra bandwidth and the penetrative power of that frequency expect a range up to 100m less in a house with walls. Another solution would be to buy a blue tooth transmitter which could plug into the optical or analogue out jacks.Over all I am pleased with this Unit. I have it wired directly into an older sound system and it has breathed new life into it. Being able to play music from USB and adding DAB and internet radio to the system.Again - The sound quality is very good for the price.

Received today and had to review straight away.Very impressed with this new addition to my HiFi rack, I actually only wanted it for Amazon music and internet radio as I already have a quality dab/fm hifi component. I was previously listening to Amazon music through Google chromecast audio but wanted a proper HiFi component to do it along with internet radio.I unpacked and connected an Ethernet cable (I don't do Wi-Fi or Bluetooth for music) and a audioquest coaxial cable into my audiolab 6000a amp so I can utilise the audiolabs dac feeding into my kef q350's. Turned on the power went through the set up wizard downloaded the undok app and registered my Amazon account,I kept my fingers crossed praying it was going to sound better than chrome cast audio and my god does it, I was blown away, I'm not (yet) even using their new hd service but it honestly sounds like I'm playing a CD I couldn't believe the difference (incedently I had the chrome cast hardwired via ethernet), everything sounds more fuller and detailed.I then searched the internet radio database for 320kbps jazz stations and saved a few into my favourites and was yet again amazed by the sound difference, I literally couldn't be happier for £200 with a lovely screen showing what's playing etc it's the bargain of the century lol.The undok app is a bit basic but does it's job, like I said earlier I'm not using the dab, fm or Bluetooth or networking from pc as I have components that already do this but as an Amazon streamer it's great.I was worried before purchasing as there doesn't seem to be many reviews of this model plus no YouTube videos but I'm glad I did, well done hama you've made a great piece of very affordable kit 10/10.

This is an overall great item. The sound quality is very, very good. I compared it against a Chromecast audio, which in fairness to its size and price is superb! However this smashes it into next week as far as sound quality goes. It's easy to set up and pretty easy to understand and get to grips with. Plenty of connections including coaxial, optical, RCA etc. It has Bluetooth and wireless. However unlike a Chromecast your device won't pick it up say from the likes of Amazon. It has Spotify connect so will appear in your list of streaming devices in Spotify. It has a built in Amazon music and Spotify app which is handy. But don't get to excited, it's dated and not the easiest to use.Searching within the app for Amazon music is a bit laborious but workable. Tons of stations on DAB and internet radio if that's your thing. You can play music directly from USB as well. I haven't tried that so can't comment. All-in all a great device. Positives mainly for sound quality. Not so fab with regards to the downloadable app and Amazon music interaction trough it. Pity you couldn't stream directly from the amazon music within the app on your phone. Would be way easier. The LCD screen does its job. It's not suberb bit ok! There's plenty of info shown. Like album art. Bitrate and streaking quality etc.All in all I recommend this device . The price isn't to bad but the sound quality is superb. However this will be reflected on a number of things like speaker and amp etc. However most amps allow direct play. Just leaving the speakers to be of good quality to show off the audio quality of this device....

First off, the tuner arrived with a box that had been opened, in the present climate, this was disturbing. It wasn't until I delved further i noticed that there had been an attempt to reseal the box, but due to the transportation system the reseals had broken loose. It would have been better if the item had been shipped in a stronger plain outer box. Unpacking I found the reason why it had been originally opened. An additional UK power core, complete with a three pin UK plug had been inserted to compliment the European two pin one.It was easy to get it up and running, after downloading a user manual from the internet. saving favourites on all modes was fairly easy, however trying to find my favourite internet radio stations was a nightmare. There was so many and no way, that it could find to do a quick search, meant scrolling through long lists to find all but one station. The small colour display is a handy item and made various settings and information easy to see and understand. The volume control is also handy as you can alter the volume via the remote. The sound quality and station choice was acceptable with the telescopic aerial, although an outdoor one will be fitted asap. The tuner was wire connected to the internet so the internet stations are solid and plentiful. Bluetooth connected easily to my iPhone so all my music apps, including Tidal, Apple Music, etc were available.Overall very happy, at present the tuner is connected via the RCA analog leads (not cheap supplied one though) a digital lead is to be used in the near future that should improve the quality of the sound.

I’ve had this Hama DIT2100MSBT device for about a month now and am pleased to report that it is completely fantastic. It sounds superb feeding my Arcam amp and Rogers speakers. The setup was simple. I have internet available on a Cat 5 cable and there is a FM/DAB TX within a couple of miles, so using the supplied antenna I have great service off air and the internet radio / Spotify streaming work very well. The only thing I had to look up in the online manual was programming the radio presets, but as soon as I had my head around the logic, it was easy. The UNDOK app on my Android is great. It’s really very useful for setting up & searching for internet radio stations. The FM radio sound is good. The DAB sound is very good too, although some of the stations I listen to are transmitted using quite low data rates so you are better off the using the internet radio function for these. The Spotify function sounds absolutely fabulous. Previously I had been using a cheap Bluetooth adaptor fed from my tablet, but now using the tablet to control the Hama’s Spotify engine, its just so much better.Amazon delivered next day. Very happy customer. Thoroughly recommended.

I really had very little idea as to what this little box of tricks was going to do for me. But boy does it impress.1 - It is compact. Now with all the available gadgets and gizmos out there, my home gets quite congested. This is a neat box that doesn't take up much space - but still delivers.2 - It is easy to set up. Under 2 minutes from turning on to listening to my first podcast stream - I was delighted. The next step will be to run it via the advertised app - but for the purposes of this review, I restricted myself to using the radio out of the box without any additional items.3 - It is easy to use. The menus are pretty instinctive - and easy to find your way round. The screen doesn't have the widest of viewing angles - but that is a minor bugbear.4 - The sound quality, given the size, is pretty acceptable. It won't please those who insist on Bose and nothing less. But for radio listening, it is absolutely fine.So all in all, I am impressed and very happy with it. I think it represents pretty decent value for money and is something that will get a lot of use over the coming months and (hopefully) years.

This really is a fantastic system. I wanted an internet streaming radio with dab&FM capability and this really fits the bill. An aged benefit is the USB input and Ethernet port so there are heaps of options I can use on this device. The menu system is simple to use and the stereo sound quality from its diminutive speakers is fantastic. Is easily loud enough to use as the main radio in my lounge. I've downloaded a stack of albums onto a 32gb USB and tune into that when I get bored with radio broadcasts. If you're familiar with internet radio the menu system will be very familiar. Allowing selection of stations by genre and location or by selection from a list. The station I wanted want in the list so I typed it in and used the search. Hey presto, up popped my station. You don't even need to store your favorite station because the menu allows you to list the station you recently listened to. All in all this is fabulous and a marked improvement in design and quality over the last one I bought about 5 years ago. It is so good I'm thinking of ordering another for the bedroom.

My old PURE DAB tuner - DRX-702ES, does not have DAB+ capability and as more stations switch to a DAB+ signal, I decided to upgrade. There doesn't seem to be many DAB+ HiFi tuners available so I decided to go for one that has access to internet channels as well. For the price, it is an excellent unit, having access to FM, DAB, DAB+, Internet Radio, Amazon Music, Spotify. You can also connect the unit via Bluetooth to your mobile, to stream music.Sound quality wise, it isn't as clear and punchy as the PURE tuner but for the price and facilities it is worth it. You would have to pay substantially more for the facilities from other 'HiFi Tuner' brands.I also hope that the full colour LCD screen on the unit is made use of more in the future.I also think that there should be more 'colour on black background' options under 'Colour Theme' as this stands out more. The only thing that I find distracting is that the power LED goes out when powered on. Could this be made a two colour LED on future hardware to be RED on standby and BLUE or GREEN when powered on.

Got this unit to replace a nearly 20 year old Technics FM/DAB tuner as I wanted one that could get DAB+ and have internet connection for foreign radio stations.Reasonably easy to set up and once I registered the unit to my Frontier Silicon account it downloaded all my favourite internet radio stations. If you want it can also connect to Spotify and Amazon Music but I have no interest in those services so I don't know how easy it is to connect to them. The unit also has Bluetooth but that failed to connect to any Bluetooth enabled items I have i.e. my laptop and mobile phone whether this is due to a problem with the units involved or my not understanding how to do it I don't know and as I don'tintend on using the facility I'm not much bothered. The remote control is a bit on the small side and the "step back" button only seems to take menu commands back a couple of levels. It is a bit on the expensive side but considering what it is capable of and compared to what I paid for the old Technics 20 years ago it is very cheap.

Probably the best value HiFi item on the market today. Competes head on with leading brand names costing wildly more.I own two of these - one for me and one for my teenage kids. Mine is over 2 years old and as new ...They are both used extensively every day.I listen to radio 3 (I have connected up my Rega dac to the optical output for world class sounds)I have set up two alarms - one to wake me up every morning to radio 3 and the other to play me an hour of radio 3 from 11 until midnight each weekday - which sends me to sleepThe user interface is fantasticMy kids use the Spotify connect feature to fill the downstairs with their music every eveningI bought my first hifi after saving my pocket money for a year back in 1978.I've been a lifelong hifi fan since and have owned some jaw-droppingly expensive systems in my timeHowever I have now jettisoned all my CDs and use just spotify and BBC radio for all my music needs with this Hama player as my only streamerI couldn't be happierHighly recommended !!

I bought this to replace my old Denon FM Tuner in my hi-fi separates set up and so I no longer needed to run my mobile phone into the amp via cable to listen to internet radio and podcasts. I have not been disappointed - it sounds great in my set up, whether in FM or DAB radio mode, playing from my mobile via bluetooth, streaming MP3 files from my home computer, playing MP3s from a USB stick or in use as an internet radio. The Spotify integration is very neat, as is the Undok App which I've found a handy way to control the tuner and set favourite stations from my Android mobile. The only shortcoming I've identified so far is when I try to play podcasts direct from the internet - many work really well, but I've not yet found a BBC podcast that plays - I wonder if the current software release can't deal with the format they use? However, I've managed to achieve the same results by playing the BBC podcasts from my mobile via bluetooth, so only a minor inconvenience. Overall, a really neat and effective solution.

The software update from Hama now means that as at July 2017, it's now possible to listen to BBC podcasts and that's why I've revised my stars upwards. This product (I have now bought a total of three of them - they were NOT given - I paid for them) now gets 5 stars. It's a brilliant radio and even my dad, to whom I've given one, finds it easy to use.It doesn't have bluetooth. Catastrophe?! Not in the slightest. The radio's portable enough to move from room to room and if it had bluetooth I wouldn't use it. I bought a bluetooth transmitter for £10 so I could connect it up, just in case I wanted the bluetooth facility but I wasted that £10 as it's in its box still unused. The plus side of no internal bluetooth is that there's less to go wrong. If there was a fire at home I'd grab my cards, Hama radio and laptop - in that order (that assumes the family have left aready). If you're weighing up an internet/network radio then stop looking. You've found the right one here.

After doing a couple of weeks research I decided on the Hama DIT2010MBT Pro Digital Hi-Fi Tuner with FM/DAB/DAB+/Internet Radio/Bluetooth .This was very easy to setup I found it so easy using the UNDOK app on my mobile phone, my main reason for purchase was to use internet radio which i think is the future with 20,000 plus stations and still growing, I connected by ethernet cable but wifi is also available. you have optical out phono out coaxial out and aux out 2 small antennas for Wifi and bluetooth and a connection for DAB/FM antenna, Spotify can also be streamed via internet also has built in equalizer.Build quality is good for the price, sound quality through DAC and a good amp is awesome.I would highly recommend so easy to use with the UNDOK app. Please click on the “Yes” button below if this review has been helpful thank you.
