The cable release consists of three parts, the hand control which along with the short cable will fire the shutter from a distance of approximately 0.8 metre, and an extension cable of two metres which fits between the short cable and the hand control, which will fire the shutter from a distance of about 2.8 metres. The cables push together and twist to lock in position, this gives a tight secure connection and shouldn't give any connectivity problems once assembled, though I did have difficulty with my first kit which would not work properly at 2.8 metres due to a faulty extension cable, this set was exchanged by Amazon, who made the returns procedure simple and painless, thank you Amazon for your help here,

Bought one of these today, and it works fine with my Sony Alpha A200.Autofocus, release and bulb mode all work fine straight out of the packaging.The cables fit together quite snugly, so make sure they're connected very firmly, but the fit to the camera is fine - it fits securely but no need to force it.The 2 meter extension cable looks like a pretty standard male-female cable so you might be able to extend it a bit further if 2.8 metres (just under 10 feet) isn't enough. Or just go for the wireless version.I'm delighted, and it cost a fraction of what Sony wanted for their own-brand version.

Bought one of these to use with my Sony alpha 700 DSLR. Much cheaper than the Sony one but not at all cheap in quality, and it comes with a generous extension which the Sony doesn't have. Couldn't be more pleased with it.Don't be worried if it doesn't seem to work when you first try it. The push-in connectors need a really firm shove to complete the circuit properly.

Full fills a need, that is to be away from the camera, whilst taking a picture, no movement of the camera, whilst on the tripod. Arrived well protected, reasonable price, and on time. o problems.

Reasonable quality - the item can be recommended instead of the Sony product. It does what it was advertised to do.

Does's the job as equally as the manufactures own model, at a fraction of the price.

Fires perfectly every time. So much cheaper than Sony's own as well.
