Now known as being the last game that's being created in the Guitar Hero franchise, the Guitar Hero name has gone through countless praise and slander throughout it's time. Arguably, Guitar Hero 3 remains to be the best game, or at least most critically acclaimed game of the series and I feel Warriors of Rock is a close second in the franchise. It feels as though the only people buying Guitar Hero nowadays are those still looking for a challenging setlist of songs as they've been round the block before and know what to expect. For those, Guitar Hero 5 delivers. I feel the setlist is the strongest it's been since Guitar Hero 3.Definitely for the more die-hard Guitar Hero fans who are more into their blistering solo's and looking for the challenge they got when first picking it up. There are definitely some songs on there that will take some mastering to the untrained fingers.Quest Mode is a... unique addition to the game. It's not necessarily bad but I can see why it doesn't appeal to people. It makes you go through the setlist, unlocking a certain number of stars inside each characters setlist to unlock their 'inner warrior' which basically just advances the power you're given, ranging from better Starpower Multipliers, Streak Shields and Resurrection Ankhs. The most frustrating thing about this is that when you get to the end, all the powers you earned along the way are combined and the game makes you go back to replay through all the songs with all the powers to gain more stars than you could have possibly got the first time round. It seems like a lame excuse to give the completionist-at-heart extra gametime. The idea itself isn't too bad, just feels like Guitar Hero is trying too hard to put an extra curve on the gameplay.Thankfully, they redeemed themselves when adding Quickplay+ Mode which allows the game to be played how it would be classically; earning a maximum of 5 stars on each song and also having the addition to earn stars for challenges. It keeps things simple whilst adding an extra part of the game and each individual song to master.I've not had much chance to play the online except a quick Pro Face-Off match which I was surprised to see came with two opponents for me instead of the standard one-on-one. I see there are different game modes, but as always with Guitar Hero, the online is only to show off your skills to other people and see how many peoples faces you can melt and I wouldn't base your decision on buying the game for the online play as it's the standard with all Guitar Hero games.Overall, it's one of the better games to come from the series. If you want the bandplay experience, I'd definitely recommend getting this over GH: World Tour or GH: 5. If you're only after the Guitar experience then go buy Guitar Hero 3 for cheap and if you enjoyed that, get this one. It's worth it.

This is much more like it. Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock has gone back to it's old roots and morals. It's got it's objectives in plain sight: Make it fun to play on Guitar first, then everything else. In Guitar Hero 5, they tried to put in too many types of music, trying to account for all genres and instruments, but in the end it turned out crap. Even Project leader from Neversoft, Brian Bright, admitted that "...In the End we ended up pleasing nobody very much..." so atleast they know what went wrong and they've fixed that.Setlist.You will find atleast 90% of the songs to your liking, mainly because they've included some quite obscure bands in the setlist, which is good because it helps people explore new found tastes, but they've also included old classics in with the mix (E.g. Jane's Addiction, Nine inch Nails, Avenged Sevenfold) and it's just soo much fun to play. Not only is the on-disc content great, you can copy over select songs from the previous guitar hero games, unfortunately for a fee, which seems wrong to me. I mean you've paid for the game, now if you want to play some songs from that game on a newer one you have to pay for it again. Might aswell just pop the old disc back in.4 out of 5.Graphics.Obviously the graphics aren't the main concern for a Music/Rhythm game, but they've done a good job. It's very pleasing to look at while playing.4 out of 5.Gameplay.The Story mode is brilliant. It feels like it did back in the days of NES/SNES games (going back 30 years) when the main concept of games like Castlevania and Legend of Zelda was an amazing storyline accompanied by a brilliant soundtrack (even if it was 8-bit) because they didn't have much else. It feels like you have a purpose, like if you don't complete this game, then the machine that is the pop-music industry will take over the world and fill it with it's foul taste of music, because in a way, it will. These games were made to bring rock and metal back to the hearts of people, to teach them of the badass ways. Also, Gene Simmons narrations is an instant plus.5 out of 5.I would recommend this game to everybody if it didn't make me seem like such a fanboy. Heck, i would even recommend this to my dog if he had thumbs.

After the joke that was GH5 and the other disappointing releases it would be fair to say that Neversoft had a debt to the Guitar Hero community. Since GH3 things seemed to go downhill (aside from GH:Metallica which was awesome) and I had gradually lost interest in the game I had once loved to play. I now find myself enjoying this game as much (if not slightly more) than any other Guitar Hero game and for one simple reason; Neversoft have got their act together.A friend of mine bought the game and persuaded me to do the same, saying that it really was a good game. Although i didn't believe him I picked it up for a cut price at my local supermarket and popped it in.Wow.The addition of a credible and imaginative storyline seems to have brought new,long-awaited life back into the series. In Quest Mode you are sent on a journey to save the music genre from a dormant fate at the hands of pop music. As different characters, new and old, you must 'transform' them into warriors of rock one by one to help defeat a giant mechanical enemy (representative of pop). There's plenty to keep you going and the main quest is deceivingly long. With the added story, it no longer feels like a long drag to finish the game (a la GH:WT) and I found myself eager for the introduction of the next character.I'm yet to try out all of the online modes, but the online co-op mode works brilliantly. Playing with my persuasive friend was brilliant as you are now able to choose a song each, play them, then choose another song each, play them and so on.Overall this and any other game after GH3 are poles apart. While other releases lacked quality and any real excitement, this title adds both in equal measure. If you, like me, have fallen out of love with the series you owe it to yourself to buy this addition. You won't regret it. I'll spare you the cheesy 'What are you waiting for!?!Go ROCK OUT!!' ending.

This is more like! After the disappointment of GH5 I was sceptical about buying this but as soon as I saw the set list it became a must buy, obviously as you will see from the list above the songs are aimed mostly at rock/metal fans, there are no pop or rap songs on there and as such every track is amazing on the Guitar, which at the end of the day is what this game is all about. The option to play the other instruments is there as well as a full band as is the norm, but the songs have clearly been picked with the Guitar in mind first. As mentioned by another reviewer the story is fantastic, nonsense but fantastic none the less, the only thing I will add on this point is that 2112 by Rush is amazing with full narration by the band and specific venues designed around the lyrics and concept of the music, plus the song rocks! There are all the usual multiplayer options included, and with a massive career that offers multiple plays this game is certainly going to last a long time. One final note is that the new Guitar is fantastic with the fret buttons spaced slightly closer together and the strum bar and whammy bar feel sturdier than on previous Guitars.Overall then a fantastic return to form from Neversoft, I can't recommend this highly enough.

Don't believe the criticism from the press... this game rocks! Those who got into Guitar Hero via 'Legends of Rock' will thank the rock gods that this game is finally here! With its awesome song list, excellent co-op/competitive multi-player modes and the return of it's fun factor, Warriors of Rock will satisfy your cravings for guitar-shredding adrenalin-rushes in much the same way as Legends of Rock did back in the day. With the emphasis put firmly back on guitar play, 90% of the tracks are now great fun to strum along to, which only improves further when you use the fantastic new controller. The slick game and character selection modes from Guitar Hero 5 are also present in Warriors of Rock to go along with a new Quest mode. While some of the features within Quest mode will divide opinion, it's great to see the return of Guitar Hero's sense of humour, which for me was always what drew me to the Guitar Hero series instead of Rock Band (itself a great series for different reasons). Warriors of Rock will stir your rock soul with the return of that GHIII magic formula: Great songs, superb gameplay, and fantastic fun! Buy it now!

In my opinion the best guitar hero there has ever been, where the player can take part in story lines for all eight characters including the originals like Johnny Napalm, Casey Lynch and Axel Steel where after only playing four of five songs depending on the character's special abilities, you are able to transform them into the 'warriors of rock' the reason behind this being linked to the plot-line in total. Depending on your taste in rock music, mine being of classic rock, this game has some of the best there is, such as: Money for Nothing by Dire Straits, Burn by Deep Purple, Losing My Religion by R.E.M, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes, 2112 by Rush and Love Gun by KISS.The player, as always, can also change how their characters look, the difficulty setting where I seem to do well on 'hard' and can try and outdo themselves or other players on competitive songs. Although Guitar Hero may be somewhat dead now, we can agree that the rock never dies.

I can never understand why people slag off Guitar Hero games saying, "huh its the same as the last, rather have more DLC". What a load of rubbish, if you don't like it don't buy it you know exactly what you're getting. So far this has had only 5 star reviews on here which is good but I'm sure the doommongers will appear sooner rather than later.I just love playing new stuff, after playing everything on guitar, bass, drums and trying to sing you are still left with a load of tracks for party play which is always excellent entertainment. If you wanted to buy all these tracks as DLC it would cost you around £130 instead you get them all for £40.OK some you may not like but if it doesn't work out finacially then again don't buy it.Anyone who comes on here slating this either doesn't own it or doesn't like this kind of game. It's no 6 in the series for Petes sake, you should know exactly what you are getting. Rant over.

I have played a couple of Guitar Hero games and have always enjoyed them. This seemed like a good purchase becuase of how cheap it was and how new it was. The setlist is pretty good with a few awesome songs and a few unexpectedly good songs I had never heard before. The new star system was unfamiliar to me at first, but I soon got used to it. This game is a big improvement over some previous ones because you can change your difficulty and add instruments at any time during the 'story' mode, in previous games (not including GH5) you would have to start a whole new story mode if you wanted to play through with a friend. This also means you won't get 'stuck' at some point in the game because you can't complete a certain song.Arrived days before the earliest delivery estimate. Definately worth it for under £10.

I have been severely let down by the Guitar Hero series for the last few years. After Guitar Hero 2, when Harmonix went to make the Rock Band series, they've always been a bit lacking.Whether it's the engine, the set list or the peripherals they've always been lacking.Until this.Where I was disappointed with GH5 engine, Van Halen and Metallica because I dislike both bands, and World Tour because of poor charts (not that this was exclusive to WT- they've been that way since GH3), these seem to have been solved with GH:WoR.The setlist is fantastic, engine functions nicely and charts are a lot more accurate (although still not quite on the Rock Band standard). The only problem I have is the ridiculous story line,it's just so stupid...Oh well, not a problem with gameplay at least. :)

The game is as a guitar hero game always is, fun to play and easy to get into, my reason for leaving a review however is the physicallity of the product. When I recieved the product I was suprised it was the french version, this is not a problem at all, both france and england are in the PAL region and the game starts in english as it is in an english PS3 system, it just would have been better if the seller had made it clear this is what I was buying. Don't let this put you off as it is a good price for a fun game that is really easy to pick up whenever you have the urge to shred some guitar tunes, just a heads up on what you are actually buying from the seller.

This Guitar Hero is definetely aimed more at the Metalheads; there are some variations in the genre, but it's mainly rock/metal songs this time around with a few classics, such as Dire Straits. Personally, the Track List is one of the best I've seen in a Guitar Hero (besides Metallica's version) game, but if you don't like Metal I'm not sure you'd enjoy it as much. The first "boss" in Career mode is SO. BORING. and seems to take forever because it drags on (Rush songs), but the final "boss" uses the Megadeth and is a great challenge. On the whole, pretty much the same as all the other Guitar Hero games but a much better Track List.

I have been a very keen guitar hero junkie, though sadly haven't got round to completing this yet. I would agree with one of the previous comments about this game, yes its pretty much the same as the last one but what is there that needs changing? The game once again come with a reasonable variation of songs for you to rock out to including some heavy ones again like Five Finger Death Punch, Slipknot and a Black Sabboth one.It also seems like they have sped up the difficulty settings making playing a little bit more interesting.still a brilliant game and if you have enjoyed the last ones you will undoubtedly enjoy this one.

9.12.2010

There is no doubt that Guitar Hero had lost it's way, it had become far too focused on delivering a 'band' experience at the expense of something rather important. Fun.This game returns to the thing that made Guitar Hero 3 so good, it has a well defined and focused career mode to keep you interested. The set list is indie, rock and metal focused rather then venturing into pop, keeping the mood of the thing right. The 'feel' of the thing is bang on, it's about the guitar... first and foremost. If you have become dissillusioned with the franchise, this game should help you rediscover why it 'rocked' in the first place.

5.1.2011

This game is epic! If you enjoy playing the Guitar Hero games, but were disappointed with their previous attempts and were therefore considering giving this game a miss as well, don't. This game is just as good as, if not better than, GH 3. It is a welcome return of REAL rock songs such as Burn by Deep Purple, Cryin' by Aerosmith and the brilliant 2112 by Rush. The career is different and there are now strange challenges in quickplay, but these just add to the (often lacking) depth in the game. It will keep you entertained for months, a great buy!

A fantastic game and one of the few that I can enjoy playing with my 10 year old son as I'm not a gamer. My son loved playing the quest and getting the items and turning into a warrior.Being able to play at different skill levels means we can all play well within our ability level and not feel that we are letting anyone down.Great family game and the variety of music means that someone is always happy but not necessarily all of us at the same time!
