Guitar Hero 5 has got rid of the method of playing every song in a gig to get to the next gig. Similarly in Metallica and Smash Hits, you now only have to get a certain amount of stars to open the next venue. This is helped by the fact that instead of getting gold stars for your full combos, you now get a sixth star, and can get up to three more stars on each song by completing challenges for certain instruments. It is possible to get 9 stars per song this means you'd only have to complete one or two songs per venue at the minimum to unlock following venues. Another bonus that improves the gaming experience is the fact that you can complete the career mode with different instruments. With the older Guitar Hero games with several instruments, you would end up having to do separate careers for each instrument individually, and then another separate career for any bands that you might have. Party mode is much more user friendly. Similar to the previous titles, you can unlock certain real musicians to play with you, like Carlos Santana, Johnny Cash, and Kurt Cobain. Not only that, but you can now make these people part of your band once you've unlocked themThe character models are very detailed and not as cartoon like as in past games. The venues have also been made bigger. The crowd also looks a lot more like individual people, instead of large groups of the same person. The fret board is now free of any distracting design. This hasn't been the case since Guitar Hero II.There is a bit of a mix in sound sometimes they are a bit tinny and sometimes too low. You can adjust the sound levels in the options, but that doesn't solve these basic problems. Not only that, but there are some problems with the songs themselves. One song that particularly stands out is "Shout It Out Loud" by KISS, the song is not actually the original version, but it is a re-recording which KISS did in 2007 that sort of sounds like someone trying to cover the band.Guitar Hero 5 a big improvement on the rest of the guitar hero series. Better Graphic, more choice of songs and more realistic graphics. All in all the good points out do the bad. I would recommend Guitar Hero 5 fans of the original Guitar Hero series, maybe a little less to fans of the music and a few songs are not original and some are censored.

Yes as hard as might seem to believe, the Wii version of a multi-format release it actually BETTER than the XBOX360 and PS3 versions. I won't talk much about the actual game here, there are plenty of reviews already talking about that, there are a few new features that really add to the package. But the best new feature is actually a Wii exclusive, and it's fantastic. To play, you need 2 guitars and 2 Nintendo DS consoles. Here, you play a competitive team game with each team comprised of a guitarist and a "roadie", controlled using the DS. The Roadie can run over the other side of the stage to the competing guitar player and really start to mess things up for them. They can break the amps, mess with the sound board or, the most feared option, reverse the players strings. It's then up to that players own roadie to try and fix all these problems, that is, if they're not already messing up the competition. It might sound complex but it isn't. It brings about hysteria and shouting at each other."Quick! Fix my strings , fix my strings!""OK, OK! In a sec, I'm just sabotaging their amps!""On no! Now I'm on fire too! Hurry up!"All of which is utterly hilarious. This Wii release may not have the slick graphics of the higher spec versions, but it does have "Roadie Battle" mode, and thanks to some ingenuity at Vicarious Visions (the developer), it has ALL the online functionality of it's next gen cousins. (it's worth mentioning the online modes as they do away with any additional friend codes, and you can join any game online with the press of a button)If only all Wii conversions were as complete as this.

I Myself was very skeptical when I heard that within the space of 6 months they where releasing another guitar hero but I must say This is by far the best guitar hero game released since guitar hero 3.The graphics have been improved vastly, the developers finally realising that the Wii does have potential whilst they may be below the 360 or PS3 they certainly look better than a PS2. The new interface is very slick and you can build playlists and save them for future playing. The new modes are also very good aswell, party play is of course the main new one and you can add up to 500 songs and they continously play and they can drop in and out with no problem ive had a few parties and its very smooth even if no one is playing there is music still in the background. There is also the roadie battle exclusive to the wii in which you hook up your ds and play against your mates trying to sabotage their gear which is great fun and there is also Freestyle which is also improved and I can actually sit down and enjoy it now.The song list is also amazing with classics such as Dire Straights, Jeff Beck, Nirvana, Children of Bodom plus more. Of course with a setlist that big your not going to like every song but I think it appeals to everyone. My only issue is that its alot easier than previous guitar heroes and that fact that there is no Metallica or System of a Down and the Megadeth song was a bit sub parBesides from these small gripes I would say this is the best Guitar Hero game to include drums and a mic

Well, first of all, I'm not new to the Guitar Hero franchise. I have every Guitar Hero title that came out for the PS3, and I was looking forward to this particular one because of all the upgrades it would have to the game's mechanics. The ability to join in or drop out of a song in progress, or to pick whichever instrument you want to play for any song - no longer fighting over who's going to be the lead guitarist of the song - are only a few of the new things that make Guitar Hero 5 indeed a better game and a better product than say, Guitar Hero World Tour. The problem is, the latter had memorable songs and lots of hits in its lineup, whereas GH5 doesn't seem to.It could be that the songs are coming from genres I'm not very familiar with or I'm getting too old and the songs are recent, but to me it seems as though - with the exception of say, 10 songs or so - the other 75 songs in the game are just mediocre and not great choices for a party game. It leaves me with an awkward feeling of wishing I had the game upgrades/mechanics of GH5 with the GHWT lineup of songs. So overall, buy it if you have every Guitar Hero game out there and you already have squeezed everything out of the previous titles. If however you're new to the franchise, ignore this for now and start with Guitar Hero 3 or Guitar Hero World Tour.

I wanna rock............I wanna rock!Im totally incapable of ever learning an instrument, tried loads when I was a kid and through a combination of stubby fingers and a complete lack of music rhythm I failed.....miserably, my dreams of being a rock god dashed before they had even begun. Many years past........Then a light, cast down by the Rock gods, Guitar Hero (and to a lesser extent Rock Band which is nearly as good as the guitar hero games) Armed with the various incarnations of plastic axes (Axe = Guitar for those not in the know about Rock) I have been able to live out my Rock dreams from the comfort of my own home, I've jammed with Slash, rocked out with the Rolling Stones and head banged with Metallica. This newest edition of Guitar Hero has a more diverse selection of tracks then the previous games there are bound to be a few not to your taste. However you should be able to find a few favourites and may be introduced to some new music you might enjoy. The game has loads to do for the single player but really comes into its own with a group of friends allowing you to create your own digital band and take on the rest of the world in the various competitive and fun online modes.Highly recommendedRock On Future Guitar Heroes......Rock On!

I was really looking forward to getting this game, having previously played most of the various GH and Rock Band iterations. So after eagerly unwrapping the game, switching on my sound system and sub (for those bass notes!) all was not well.I selected 'Sex on Fire' by the Kings of Leon; the sound of my guitar was flat - it didn't sound right. Anyone who has ever played Rockband 1 or 2, will tell you it is an immersive ' rock' experience - this was anything but!So - accessing the options mode, I tried tweaking the audio settings; dolby on /then off, volume up then down. I have to say there were subtle improvements. To test my theory, I played ' Hungry like the wolf' (that 'rock classic'by Duran Duran)- which is on both Rock Band 2 AND GH5 - and with identical sound settings, on the RB2 version, the sound is more immersive - bass notes are more refined, infact the whole experience of interaction was at a different level. Why should this be?? Sloppy sound processing from Activision perhaps to rush the game out?It should have been a masterpiece, but in my view falls well short.'For those about to rock' buy Rock Band instead!!

If you want to start playing Guitar Hero, this, like all the Guitar Hero games it's very good. I bought a Band Hero with all the instruments and it's very funny. Also you can have a great amount of songs to play, many of them you'll not recognize, but it's also a good method to learn some new song, consider the fact that once you have all the instruments, any guitar hero Game only copy has a low price, also a new copy, and you'll play a copy for very long time before complete and get a good score in all the songs. Of course playing with friends it's very funny! But also the single-player is good but of course more serious, you'll never get a perfect with friends, because it's more the time you spend smiling then playing, expecially if someone is singing!! Remember also that in the game there is the possibility to play Jam sessions and create our songs!

This was my very first guitar hero game ever. I only play with the guitar as i dont have any drums and i wouldn't want to sing just incase i break the Ps3. I love this game songs are great [alot of absolutely great songs on the game], the create a rockstars good although it lacks in clothes, you can design your own mic, guitar, drums and bass which is great. The only complaint i have is the campaign i absolutely flew through it and then i got to the very last gig which seems completely impossible compared to the previous gigs. Online you can do your own campaign with other players which makes that last gig a little less impossible, but head to head online no-one ever plays.I love this game i have had it for about 1 and a half years and play at the hard or expert level but still this game never gets boring.

I like all the songs on this game, there is a wider variety than other GH games; something for everyone :)The DS function (making music videos from your DS while playing one, two or three instruments) is new and innotive!Anti fail mode = also very helpful if you'd like to play through a song as a band and just get percentages not get 'boo-ed' off at the tricky solo in the middle.I think this has more customizable options than GH4, choosing your character, customizing your instruments more freely etc.Need I go on? This is a brill game to play alone or with a group - Highly recommended by moi especially if you liked previous GH's but didn't recognise some of the 'rockier' songs :]

This 5th edition of the Guitar Hero license is really fun, with great enhancements like the Party Play Mode that allows any combination of instruments and instant joining/leaving without disturbing other players. Moreover it offers a solid soundtrack, that won't deceive rock addicts and won't frighten casual players with too much hard metal songs.A good compromise, in my opinion.Just one false note, the absence of a Guitar Hero 5 super bundle with the new drum set. This forced me to buy the Band Hero super bundle, with a really uninteresting soundtrack. Business is business...

I purchased guitar hero 2 and the guitar and I instantly became addicted! When Guitar Hero 5 came out in Portugal, I wanteed to buy it, but it was too expensive. So I purchase online and I must say, it's worthwhile! For everything: the price, the service...and the game it's just so good! It gets better everytime. Now we can play the bass part too, we can make our own character and play more recent songs!!! If you like Guitar Hero, it's always worthwhile to get the latest one, you never tired, it always push your agility very high!

I have waited and waited for the makers of Guitar Hero to realise that some of the best guitar work available comes from Iron Maiden and they have finally included one of the best in. 2 Minutes to Midnight ... just great! Lets have more.In Guitar Hero 5, the game play seems smoother and over all, has a much more natural playability, the other additional features make this a valuable addition to your collection of Guitar Hero.Lets have some classic guitarists such as Joe Satriani and more Queen, ZZ Top, AC/DC, Van Halen etc.

Guitar hero brings us another great experience with his 5th pack of originals. Great musics in this one, not only for the guitar, drums, but also to sing along friends who might my a little shy :PThe party modes they implemented just feel right, and do make the game way more appealing to everyone. The challenges within the campain also make the game last a little longer and more fun than the others campaing. In overall, awesome game, with nice musics and everything they introduced new is really in the right place

Got this for my Birthday and I love it. Have now purchased the drum kit so I can finish the challenges, as you need all the instruments to finish the game. The game is brill, from choosing or creating your on rock star to the music, graphics are good, but is hard to see what is happening on stage as you are to busy concentrating on the colours coming down. A defo must buy. But I still think there should be a GH Muse. A band that has guitar, bass and drums. Need I say more
