I love this.Yes, there are more sophisticated vétiver named fragrances out there, now at least but this ain’t bad...I love it and think I have just forgotten to wear it since my late teens.I’m 30 now and wear Diptyque, Aqua Di Parma, Hermes, Tom Ford and Dior (Eau Sauvage (old fashioned one - new ones are horrendous) at the moment but I have other priorities currently and wanted to go down a notch as those are all about 120-£150+ for 100ml (admittedly EdP).Remembered this. If you can’t justify it while it’s £35 for 100ml EdT (which lasts... less subtly than others I’ve mentioned above but no less than nearly every slap round the face that is a male or female Chanel fragrance. It’s unapologetically what it is and also worth its £70-79 price tag.Similarly I have a fondness for Rive Gauche, which is arguably dated and “basic” in the same way, which is a L’Oreal staple borrowing the YSL logo bought, just as they acquire anything else they want, the rest going to Estée Lauder. But consider that Jo Malone (daylight robbery) sold out to EL years ago and look at that brand. It’s Molton Brown with a skirt on. Difference probably being money injected into tech as diffusers are effective.Off topic now.Buy this for £35 for goodness sake!

I saw this reviewed on You tubeabout a year ago and as a result purchased 100ml EDT.It was mentioned that Guerlain had decided to discontinue this fragrance and that some prices of it had fallen. This was in fact true, and I paid about £34 for 100ml.I absolutely loved the fragrance which opens with citrus fragrances of orange/neroli,lemon.It dries down to a woody vetiver, with hints of oakmoss and amber.I regularly get very pleasant comments about how beautiful the fragrance is.It also lasts for quite some time on my skin.Because I liked the fragrance so much, and am also a wet shave enthusiast,I quickly used up the 100ml.When I started to look for a replacement it was obvious that there had beenan increase in demand and prices had started to rise. For 100ml it was going to cost approximately £42 or so.I then noticed that one company was offering a 200ml bottle for £43,and quickly purchased it.In the world of fragrances this is a very good buy.But I would have paid the price of £42 for 100ml and still considered it a bargain. If you like the sound of a citrus fragrance ,followed by a woody dry down this could be a good option for you as an everyday fragrance.I highly recommend shopping around for good deals.Read full review...

I bought this for my husband because he has always loved "Vetiver" and I am always looking out for a fragrance with a vetiver base-note and have bought plenty over the past 35 years none of which met his requirements. When I found this by Guerlain I thought that my search had come to an end. When the bottle arrived we eagerly opened it and sprayed a good spritz onto my husband's arm. "What do you think?" I asked him, he paused and then blurted out "old ashtrays!". Great, £32.00 for old cigarette butts. He wasn't impressed but said he would use it as I had bought it for him. He tried it again when we were going out for lunch with friends and when we greeted our them, my friend hugged him and said "mmmm you smell nice".So all was not lost. I think like many Guerlain fragrances it is to be appreciated and enjoyed in the drydown, not the original spritz. It is very woody and smoky, tobacco features heavily in the notes and the top burst of citrus gets a bit swallowed up at first. He wears it quite a lot now and agrees that it is a very good scent once it has settled down. In my opinion I like it on him very much, it suits the mature man, it is quite personal as once it drys down it stays close to the skin.

I have previously bought this for my Significant Other from the airport shop when it was on offer and he was testing a few scents and we both loved its citrusy, herbal, aromatherapeutic, fresh, zesty smell. It's fresh but not in a boring disinfectant-like way, it has an exquisite sharp sweetness about it mixed in with cedar-like notes which really perk you up and make you feel good. I end up sniffing his neck just for the aromatherapeutic effects! He used that up and I didn't notice it in any shop for ages and I couldn't remember the name of the make though I remembered the name of the product so I did a search and found it was by Guerlain so I bought it for him again from Amazon this time andhe was very pleased.

First released in 1959, Guerlain's Vetiver was one of a trio of vetiver scents for men that emerged in the late '50s. Not the first, it is also arguably the finest example of the three. The citrus, bergamot topnote quickly settles to sweet smoke from tobacco, cedar and the vetiver, with light layers of spice provided by nutmeg and a touch of coriander. It doesn't linger at high strength on the skin, but the subtler notes last much of the day. Presented in an elegant chamfered glass bottle, this is a timeless classic, my 'default' EDT, and if you can find it at a good price, highly recommended.

For me this very iconic and classic vetiver scent is one of my favourites of all times. Fresh in the summer whilst very deep scented in the winter. You can't go wrong with it. Some fans criticise the new bottle which I'm also not a big fan but I don't care about that as the smell is what you carry on you. I also read some reviews that say that the original scent was modified years ago. I only know the current one and absolutely love it. Tried other vertover scents but none are, in my opinion, as good as Guerlain's.

This appears to be genuine and fairly fresh stock. I have been unfortunate in the past to buy stuff that was either downright fake, and/or had sat in a sunny window for the past 10 years, and lost all semblance of it's original fragrance.Still not 100% confident of buying fragrance online, but this price is around 50% of High Street retail price. You pays your money and you takes your chance ...

I can understand why the likes of Michael Caine, Harrison Ford and Big Arnie are said to wear this fragrance because it’s classy masculine gentlemens scent without being loud or annoying. It starts with a slightly sweet lemony vibe then as it drys down the herbal notes kick in giving off a nice clean scent. Maybe not a younger mans fragrance it’s more suited to older men 30s +

Blind buy as I’ve heard a lot about it. What a great scent, masculine but could be considered by anyone. I love Grey Vetiver from Tom Ford and have been using it for years, but this one is in a different league, for the price, the amazing lasting performance and freshness I would say this is one purchase I’ll definitely be making again. Highly recommended.

I was searching for vetivert essential oil and this came up in the searches. Read the reviews and took the plunge cos I normally buy my cologne at duty free LGW. I am not disappointed. All the top, mid and base notes are correct. I have guerlain homme as I'm a fan of neroli and im now in love with guerlain scents.Look forward to more from the big G.

As someone said before, good enough for Michael Caine, good enough for me lol. Absolute genuine article. I’ve been a Tom Ford devotee but always baulked at the price. This is brilliant if you love vetiver. Unfortunately most women don’t dig it like they did in the 60’s but I’m hoping they’ll catch up. Buy it. And Tabac roll on while you’re at it !

This has long been a favourite, top of the list cologne. It has a marvellously fresh lemon verbena scent, very masculine, subtle and lasting. Its classic style is sophisticated and perfect for use morning or evening. Whilst not given away, it is by no means top of the price range. Highly recommended

I love this fragrance. Although it says it's a male scent I use it- I think it is fairly unisex as no one has ever mentioned that I smell like a man! It has a strong base note of vetiver complemented by a citrus bergamont. This is also a wonderful price aa Guerlain is normally twice this price!

Vetiver is such a great fragrance, fresh, classy and can be worn for any occasion, it lasts and projects very well, makes you feel clean and refreshed , would make a great everyday signature scent, there is a reason why this is still available and sells well, love the stuff.

Vetiver is a distinctive scent derived from tropical rushes. It has a very sophisticated perfume--the rushes are woven into thick curtains and sprinkled constantly with water, so that the cool breeze blowing through them wafts this delicate and earthy scent through the room
