I have read the reviews. Some say it’s not the original some say it is. I bought a bottle and it was delivered today after opening and trying it. I can say with 100% confidence this is the original SHALIMAR that was launched in 1925. Nothing has ever been changed in the ingredients of the perfume. I also do not know if people know, how many different versions of SHALIMAR have been made. In 2004 they launched a SHALIMAR light, at present I believe its 4 different one possible 5 on the market. Those that say it’s probably not the real thing and those that say it smells different. I honestly think sometimes us women forget our body chemistry changes as we get older.

I'll admit, it took me a while to 'get' Shalimar. Depending on your persepective it either smells very glamorous or a bit old fashioned. Initially I also had trouble with the balance between the floral and spicy notes, but for me the solution lay in the EDP formulation which seems to work better on my skin than the EDT. If you are new to this perfume I would recommend experimenting with both to see which you prefer. This is definitely a 'grown up' scent, it has depth and sophistication but is not at all shouty and attention-grabbing. Although there is a vanilla note it is not a perfume with much sweetness, which may or may not appeal to you. For me it is not a scent for all occasions - sometimes I want something with more warmth and fun,

This IS real.yes,the box was damaged inside,but the juice inside is the real deal.Shalimar is meant to open smelling of shoe repair shops and antique furniture wax.it is the dry down where the trip starts.....i got black real vanilla pod,havana cigar smoke,fresh suede,saddle soap,civit,amber,musk,tonker bean and ,creme brulee.i was driven to panic by reviews saying it wasn't real,but the trip of the perfume can only be described as very french,and very expensive.it is not weak either,because i still smell of wonderful burnt vanilla pod over morning coffee the next day and it has come off on my bedding and smells delicious.......when i wear it out,i have strangely turned heads and made strangers look up in awe of the trail it leaves !

Shalimar is a women's fragrance originally created by Jacques Guerlain in 1921 as a classic soft amber (Oriental) parfum, and currently produced by Guerlain.Popular for 90 years, Shalimar was created in 1921 and re-released in 1925 in a bottle designed by Raymond Guerlain and made by Cristalleries de Baccarat (bottle design # 597)The fragrance can be described as vanilla, powdery, and sweet. The fragrance contains Bergamot, Lemon, Jasmine, Rose, Iris, Incense, Opopanax, Tonka Bean, and Vanilla. It is considered to be an Oriental perfume which was popular during its conception. The top note of the fragrance is Bergamot. The middle notes are Iris and Opopanax. The base note is vanilla.

I had this in the 80s and it is different. The leather note is stronger.The first notes are the lemon, bergamot and leather. The alcohol evaporates and it becomes much more musky and vanillary. I dont get any spices and its not very sweet at all. Its definitely unisex. A fragrance for a confident and stylish woman. Im disppointed about the poor longevity and it stays close to the skin. The delivery was quick and it was well packed.

Smelt this in a department store and it wasn't until I came home and the smell had developed that I fell in deep deep love. It reminds me of the sort of perfumes my mom used to wear when I was a child and so this always transports me back when I smell it. It's a lovely deep and musky scent which, for me, also brings back lots of memories and good emotions.

I bought this in 50ml for £39.99 and i was so pleased with the condition and quick delivery of it. This is the first time i've ever smelt the perfume and i think its gorgeous, it's very strong and smokey, very vintage. My sister hates it though, it's too strong and overwhelming to her but i think it's lovely for the open minded nose.

The perfume comes in a beautifully bottom in an original box. I get so many compliments from both men and women when I where this perfume. All I can say is Enjoy It at this price.

The item was well packaged, and on opening the gift wrapping was excellent, well worth it. I gave it to my wife for our anniversary today, she was very happy with my choice of perfume, applying it onto her wrists first the scent wasn't overpowering but pleasantly lingering, and lasting the best purchase I have made.

Fed up with the new perfumes smelling all the same I decided to try to get a collection of classics, This is just that!!! This perfume lasted from 6 in the morning until well after 8 , Amazing value for money, packaged extremely well and very prompt delivery, one very happy girly here , thank you

Came well packaged and the bottle looks very expensive. Lovely vanilla hints and long lasting fragrance. Ideal for the office or for a night on the town. Service and delivery second to none-well done guys.Treat yourself or your mum and you will not be disappointed.:-)

I alternate this perfume with another one, as it is easy to get used to one perfume if its used all the time. I just love the smell, it feels really calming for me.It is a strong perfume so others may find it a little overpowering, but if you love it wear it.

Purchased as a Christmas present, very well received. Lovely citrus/creamy fragrance, not overpowering but distinctive once you have come across it. A bit of luxury at an affordable price and not sweet and sickly like so many other more modern perfumes.

The first few minutes smells a little bit strange i did not realize i have to wait more, than normally. Then, after a while it become a fantastic scent. The first Shalimar what i bought for my wife 28 years after the first time i heard about it.

Expensive, yes. But does it last? Well, hell yes. This is why it's value for money because you don't need to put much on, and there's still some left on your skin when you step into the shower later on. You can't go wrong with the classics.
