This is quite an expensive bag, but you really do get your money's worth. As soon as you open the box you know this is a quality item.First off is comfort. This is an extremely comfortable bag to carry. There is a velcro adjust system so you adjust the ride height on your back and it takes only a moment to do so, so you can get a perfect fit. The material against your back is a mesh with a sort of honeycomb structure underneath that so you constantly have air circulating and avoid a sweaty back. This also means you don't heat up your drinks bladder from your body heat if you're using one. There are plenty of pockets (actually too many - I'd have preferred fewer larger ones) with very robust zips. This is a 'clamshell' bag, so the entire bag zips apart. That of course makes it very easy to access what is in there, but it means that the zip takes the full load if you've really stuffed it full but I have no lack of confidence that the zips can take it. The zips have nice big pulls that you can get gloved fingers into easily, and run smoothly. There are plenty of pull straps to get everthing snug and secure both against your body and within the bag. There are waist straps and a chest strap which are probably overkill for such a small bag, but are just right for the size of the bag. No huge hip straps and mountaineering buckles, there's just enough to do the job.The shoulder straps are wonderful. Really comfortable and just the right width, with a mesh underside to keep you cool. You can genuinely forget you've got this bag on once you've tailored it to your preferred fit. There are some really nicely thought out touches to this bag too. The sunglassess holster is surprisingly useful, although you do need two hands to use it. There's a clip for one arm to go through, and then an elastic loop goes over the nose piece to hold everything in place. You can cheerfully jump over a stream without losing your shades. There is a holder for your trekking poles, and even a little whistle built into the chest strap. There's a discreet little loop to hook a lamp if you're using this cycling. The outside pouches are all stretchy so you can put your jacket in there and be confident it will stay there, and the side pouches can easily hold a litre waterbottle. An extra strap is there to go around the neck of your bottle and hold it in place, which is just another excellent detail. Once your kit is in or on this bag it will stay there no matter how much you're jumping about. It's not desperately waterproof, (but then I've yet to meet a rucksack that truly is) but it is quick drying if you manage to soak it.I could easily go on and on about this bag, it's that good. I even think the colour is really nice. It's undoubtedly an expensive bag, but it's so well made that I think it's actually good value. You can expect years of use from this one. Excellent quality.(If you found this review useful, I'd love it if you let me know with a click below - thanks!)

Comfortable, lightweight daypack with all the features you'd expect, with great materials and build quality. It's a small pack, so it's not really likely to see really heavy loads; though it's rated up to 9.1kg. Nevertheless, it has been comfortable with my normal day hike loadout, and makes a good compromise between weight & comfort. It has a great feature set, and as you'd expect from Gregory, the build and materials are all excellent. This Miwok 18 seems to share it's DNA with many of the rest of the Gregory range - we also have the Maya 22 (which is almost identical), Amber 34 & Stout 70 - which is a good thing as they are all excellent bags.Weighing 797g (vs specced 840g), it's very lightweight. It saves some weight by having a 'hybrid' back system they call 'Bio-sync', which is used in all the Gregory bags we have. This consists of a perforated 'knobbly' foam back panel, with a mesh loosely held in front, and a velcro adjustment on the height of the shoulder straps. This results in length adjustment at a light weight on a bag with improved ventilation - even with heavy loads - compared to simply having mesh over the back. This three way compromise means that the back cooling is better suited to walking than running or similar activities, where I'd probably opt for a heavier full back system. However, the BioSync system is comfortable, provides enough separation from the contents that you won't get poked in the back by a badly packed bit of kit, is much easier to pack then a full back system, and is a good compromise between weight and comfort. The shoulder straps are 'S' shaped and comfortable. They are made from mesh fabric on the inside backed by perforated foam. The sternum strap has loads of adjustment, and there are top adjustment straps, which I find are a bit unnecessary on bag so small. There are loops for hydration lines, and a unique dedicated sunglasses strap in the left. The waist straps have the same mesh fabric backed by perforated foam and both have large zipper pockets with easy to operate zipper pills. The waist straps have loops to tidy the excess strap, which is handy in high winds. The main bag has a compartment for your hydration bladder, then a large main compartment, with zips extending far down the sides, double zippered. There is a small mesh pocket at the top of this with a key holder. In front of this is a sizable pocket with a soft touch fabric for phones & sunglasess. All the zips have easy pull loops attached. On the outside of the main bag is a stretch pocket with an adjustable clip at the top. This is big enough for a jacket. There are two stretch pockets on the sides for bottles; each one will fit a bottle the diameter of an average bottle of wine (for example - not a suggestion...!). There are attachments for walking poles and one compression strap on each side.

This is an excellent quality streamline 18 litre backpack packed with features , pockets , loops , for carrying all you're hiking essentials when out on the trail. The zippers on this backpack are excellent , superb quality they glide effortlessness, no snagging whatsoever , all the quality you have come to expect from Gregory backpacks , they are definitely up there with the best , if not the best.I like the soft pocket at the top of the backpack for storing your electronic devices if needed , there is a pouch at the back of the backpack that fastens with a clip , Ideal for keeping small items of clothing, hats, gloves , small towel, soft shell jacket. The pack fits perfectly and is well padded ,the clips that fasten the pack across your chest and torso are very good quality , solid clips that fasten and unfasten quick and easily. The underside of the straps are like a soft mesh , well padded , this pack is great as it stays close to your body and moves with your body like suspension using the biosync technology, so it doesn't feel bulky whatsoever , great for when you are mountain climbing and scrambling to keep you well balanced. The backpack is a streamlined fit , it doesn't move from side to side if feels nicely weighted and tight to your body , I love the blue colour too , it really stands out.The main compartment is large enough for all your hiking essentials, snacks , drinks , EDC, it can accommodate a small titanium pan and gas stove for cooking a meal out on the trail if needed.Plenty of room for a packed lunch , flask and drinks. There is a large compartment for water hydration for using a water bladder, you could use the compartment for other items though if not using a water bladder. There a loops to connect hiking poles , a sunglasses quickstow on the shoulder strap. The backpack feels really rugged too , tough material that is built to last, it's made for the outdoors.I'm not sure how well it will cope at keeping stuff dry in heavy down pores , most of my other backpacks have a water proof cover stored in the bottom , it's a shame this one hasn't.Overall this is an excellent quality backpack, I'm very pleased with the quality and features and will now be my go to pack for day hikes in the hills.

I have used this pack over a few 9 mile walks around the countryside and found the followingSize: at 18 litres this is obviously going to be a small bag however during the summer months this is realistically all i need. there are multiple pockets throughout including a hydration bladder compartment and zip compartments on the hip belt. I can easily get food, water, maps and some emergency clothing into this pack. Granted there isn't space for cookers, sleeping bags and the like but you pack for what you plan to do for the day.Materials: This is a very light pack there is lots of closed cell foam in the straps and the back plate that dissipates sweat away from your body, the fabric is a ripstop type that although thin does stretch well when packing without fear of being compromised. The straps are comfortable enough considering you wont be able to put much weight in the pack, a thoughtful soft pouch on the front is great for stowing sunglasses or other optics in.Use: I found that even stuffed to the gills with my kit this pack remained comfortable, There is strap adjustment at the top of the bag which acts to put the full weight onto your hip belt, if this isnt to your liking simply loosen the top straps and tighten the bottom of the shoulder straps to load the weight onto your shoulders. There is an adjustable height for the straps that is fixed with velcro and allows a few inches of height difference for large and small torso's.Summary: I am very pleased with this bag, it has swallowed all of my gear for a summers day hike, it would also be excellent on the mountain bike. I would however get a bigger bag if considering spending the night out in the wilderness, I cannot fault the workmanship on this well established Gregory brand pack.

The Miwok 18 is a fantastic and versatile backpack in a cheerful bright blue colour. Thanks to the padded mesh on the back, waist bands and on the shoulder straps, it's well-ventilated and very comfortable to wear, and won't leave you sweating with a wet back like some backpacks do.It's highly adjustable, with just the right amount of straps, firmly connecting clips and a back panel attached by velcro that can be shifted up or down to suit your height. It didn't take me at all long to adjust the pack to my height (and belly size!). The BioSync suspension just adds to the overall comfort level, keeping the pack moving with your body rather than bouncing against it.The pack has plenty of pockets, some of which you could argue are a little small, but are still suitably in proportion to the overall size (18 litres) and of course very useful for storing smaller items. The main containment area is more than sufficient for larger items like towels, jumpers, food and assorted equipment for a day out. I filled it up to the max and the stitching handled the load with ease. The zips move up and down smoothly with loops and straps attached for ease of use. The whistle in the chest strap and sunglasses holder on the shoulder strap are nice touches, and naturally there are easy to reach stretchy pockets on the side for water bottles.I haven't been caught in the rain with it so can't comment on how it performs in wet weather, but I have taken it out fully packed on a couple of day trips and found it lightweight to carry and a pleasure to have so many loops, pouches and pockets at my disposal. It's a quality backpack, no doubt about it.

Gregory Miwok 18 Backpack.Ok so first off this is a fantastic backpack it's super well made and is unbelievably lightweight dispite how robust this feels but for me 18Ltrs is just too small for me as a day pack (I'm a XXL so can easily carry the extra weight) but if your after a small pack then look no further the Miwok 18 brings flexible Biosync suspension and just enough internal space for your bare essentials and some lunch. The BioSync shoulder harness feature allows for infinite fine-tuning along a wide range of adjustment which helps achieve that perfect fit while still on the move. The bag features a moisture wicking aero-mesh that helps transfer sweat away from the body so it can easilybe evaporated and plenty of pockets even one on each side of your kidney belt. All straps are fully adjustable and bag feels almost Taylor made to your body. There is also a dedicated zippered hydration pocket with SpeedClip the attachment system for compatibility with Gregory's 3D Hydro reservoir which I've not been able to test due to not having one but this seems like a great idea and looks like it would function really well.I would also like to point out that there is a space on the shoulder harness for easy access to your sunglasses and the chest strap contains a built in whistle.

This a sack trying to cover so many different purposes that I'm not sure where it fits in.Gregory Miwok 18.If your one of these people who carries lots of bits and bobbs, Sun glasses, Field glasses, food,Things for starting a fire, small rain jacket, Water bottle, extra hat and gloves etc, etc. Then this should be for you....Absolutely covered in zipped pockets, Both internal and external. Places to hang things. Very adjustable to suit you frame.Very well made with good quality materials, Including a ventilated back which adds a bit of padding.Shoulder straps very adjustable and padded.. Even the waist band is padded each with a good sized zipped pocket on each strap. The adjustable chest strap has a mini whistle in the clip. Loops to hold your sticks as well. One thought I had was this is ideal for someone who wants to cover ground fast as it's not meant for the big expedition.I've had a good going over what the sac does and keep finding more loops and zips.I would put it into the category of a day sac....... for carrying your sandwiches and everyday items you must have with you. Should last for years...

This Gregory backpack has plenty of pockets and features that make it useful for serious hikers who may need to carry quite a lot of things but not have too bulky a bag on their backs. In my opinion, some cheap backpacks are merely bags that are carried on the back - they don't have enough side pockets or straps to attach much. In contrast, this Gregory backpack has some innovative features that I had not encountered before. For example, it has a 'Sunglass QuickStow system' which is actually quite useful. It's the kind of thing that I would never have thought I would ever need, but now that I have access to it, I will find it difficult to do without it.The material feels tough and strong and the stitching seems robust. The fit of the bag is also very adjustable. So if you do find yourself carrying something heavier in it, the bag is sufficiently adjustable to be able to carry the weight without too much rubbing or discomfort.Overall, I'm enjoying this bag. It was useful on a week's hiking holiday and I look forward to using it on many more trips to come.

This is a great lightweight and streamlined rucksack, ideal for cyclists. That said, it also has plenty of features for hikers and walkers. It's very well made, stitching is flawless and zippers work effortlessly, no annoying snags when opening and closing. The straps are very easy to adjust as they work on friction, so lift the buckle slightly and pull and the strap adjusts easily.Shoulder straps are padded but as this is a lightweight rucksack then the padding is not excessive.Pouches in the waistband straps are handy for storing energy bars and drinks and are easily accessible while riding (or walking)Plenty of pockets elsewhere for bottles. One of the rear pockets is lined with a soft fabric so handy for phones and ipads etc. It's not a huge backpack but there is room for light clothing, spares etc.All in all a very well made, lightweight and comfortable rucksack that is simple to wear and adjust.

Blown away by this rucksack. It’s the bag that just keeps on giving. Just when you think you have found them all you find another pocket or thing it does (like the mini whistle on the clip). It’s super comfy to wear and feels really secure. The waistband is padded making it a delight to wear.We are not walkers but in fact have a toddler and end up cramming everything but the kitchen sink into our rucksacks when we venture out for the day. This will alleviate so much faffing as it holds so much and is easily compartmentalised. We can grab what we need whilst the other is still wearing it without having to empty the entire bag contents to get to what we need. It’s so very well made. The clips are strong. The stitching is excellent. The padding is quality. The overall finish is very very good. We’re delighted with it.
