This little tug boat is a hit mostly with my 3 year old who is reluctant to let her 6 month old sister play with it but I would highly recommend these toys to other parents looking beyond the typical ducks, squirters and foaming toys. You can completely submerge this tug boat and use it for pouring as much as floating about, and float about it does really well. We've had some bath toys that sink at the slightest nudge so this being buoyant and stable is a good design point, it's ability float well but also to be sunk and poured make it a brilliant starting point for talking about forces with a young child. On that point it's a great and less scary alternative to using a jug to rinse hair too if your child is a reluctant hair rinser. The plastic is super quality for being recycled,I was surprised as previous recycled goods we've tried have been a big brittle and thin, this is thickly dense and strong, substantial and prepared for boisterous play! The best bit is you can completely take it apart for drying and it is dishwasher safe meaning you can give it a thorough clean every so often to stop any nasties growing. This is a sensible and welcome design point considering how many toys I've had to throw away despite careful draining. My three year old loves this boat more than her 6 month old sister does mostly because her play development is much more advanced, this has no moving parts to delight a younger child who will lack the motor strength to submerge and pour earlier on, but it is an excellent toy to invest in or add to a collection as your child's play will develop as they grow, develop and learn different approaches to play. The toys we've tried from this brand are in fact exceptionally good compared to what we've had over the last few years. They've quite clearly been designed by thoughtful parents big just from a play value but from a care value. The fact that they are made from phthalates, BPA and lead free recycled plastic is a bonus, as we are ever conscious of our elder daughter's exposure to chemicals as although healthy, she has an autoimmune thyroid condition, though the 'green plastic' is not 100% essential it is a nice touch whether you are watching your child's exposure or not.

Bath time is one of my child's favourite events. Why sit in the dry, when you can splash water everywhere? To entertain we have a series of little bath toys, some that squirt and some that pour. What we don't have until now is an impressive centre piece like the 'Green Toys Colourful Tugboat'. This is an impressive toy and will have to be good to stand out among the multitude of boat based bath toys. However, this boat blows the others we have out of the water just in terms of scale and impressive build quality.Formed of three parts, the tugboat basically stays in one piece, but if you like, the top and bottom come apart quite easily. This will probably not be needed as it is as a whole that it works best. The red section acts as a handle and water can come into the windows or the vents, once full you can pour all the water out of the spout and it is an impressive amount. In fact, not only did my kid love playing with the boat, I was also able to use it as a fun way to wash the shampoo out of their hair. The boat holds enough water that you only need one or two tug fulls to fully rinse their barnet.Green Toys make all of their items from recycled items, so you may fear that the quality of the plastic may be a little low. In fact, the opposite is true as the plastic is of a very high quality and thickness. It even has a slight textured quality that makes it nice to hold. The idea of getting a great quality toy and helping the environment is a nice one.

Green Toys are all made from recycled plastic and are eco friendly as the name suggests, which is always a good thing! You do pay a premium for this, as the prices are a little higher than your typical plastic toy but they are all really nicely made and well thought out. This particular Green Toys bath toy is the red tug boat, which is quite a simple and basic toy boat that's ideal for bath time or water play outdoors or indoors. One of the great things with the Green Toys is that they're dishwasher safe which makes a big difference in being able to keep them clean, and hence they're going to last a lot longer than your typical bath toy were water can get stagnant in some of the small areas causing a mould build up,which leaves black marks after a while. This does have the ability to be opened up and the parts separated so that you can clean it much more easily. The submarine has a propeller at the back which turns in the water, but otherwise it's a simple toy which just requires imagination. It's suitable from age 6 months+ and has no small parts, and it will still appeal to toddlers and pre-schoolers too as long as they're interested in water play, so although simple it will definitely get plenty of use. It's sturdy and will last well and can take plenty of use and play time without breaking. Overall it does look good, and I like the eco and recycled nature of it. It's also not over packaged.

A truly excellent product. First the credentials....a toy made from fully recycled plastic and recycled paper packaging, using a short local supply chain (it says on the blurb) in the USA. Leaving aside the fact that it is then shipped 5000km or more to Europe, they at least have a generally lower ecological footprint than most toys which is praiseworthy. Now, the design - in a word - excellent. Nice robust parts and this is quite large - 30cm long. It's chunky and there is plenty to get hold of. The idea is that this boat can be floated in the bath or swimming pool or even the sea. There is a big handle to grab - nice and easy for small hands if they want to granb quickly. All plastic,no metal parts, so rust free. The boat hardly had the sun on its back out of its 'green credentials' box and it was straight into the bath at the behest of our 4 year old son. He has rarely been so engaged and motivated with a new toy (only Buzz Lightyear comes close!) so it's thumbs up from Thomas. Well done, Green Toys

This is the second Green Toys product that I have tried, and it's also the second one that deserves five stars. Sturdily made from recycled plastic (milk bottles!) this little tugboat is beautifully designed. I like the fact that it's made in the USA and that it's free from BPA, PVC, phthalates or external coatings – this is one of my main objections to 'normal' plastic toys, alongside the fact that they usually seem a bit wasteful and disposable. This couldn't be further from the truth with this high quality toy, which is designed to last and will definitely get passed on for more use once my little one has grown out of it.It's easy to tip water out of the base and it can be taken apart if it needs a clean. The handle is particularly ergonomically designed to encourage active play with little hands. I can see why it's listed as being suitable for babies, but it's still a very engaging toy for my preschooler (3.5 years old) who is delighted with it. It floats really nicely and evenly.

Children love to splash and play in the bath, and my grandchildren are no exception. And, when there are toys to play with, the fun just increases. The Green Toys Colourful Tugboat Bath Toy with Red Handle is beautifully retro; the tactile, stubby wheelhouse is supported by an equally stubby hull, which allow it to bob about on the surface of the water. As soon as I saw it, it had to be named “Tuggy McTugface”.A hole on the deck and a “spout” on the bow allow the hull to be filled with water, if pushed under the surface; a handle attached to the top of the wheelhouse and the deck can then be used to pick up the boat to pour the water out of the spout. Great for turning hair rinsing into an exciting game. It’s also good to know that, being made from 100% recycled plastic, this great toy is not only great fun, but also environmentally friendly.Of course, one toy is never enough, so why not add another, like

This is a delightfully coloured bathtoy which is absolutely ideal for my two year old grandson who loves to pour water when he is in his bath. The great thing about it is the good sized handle which he can easily hold. The toy takes in water which can then be poured out both in and often out of the bath - I am astonished at how long this activity keeps him occupied. The boat will float, just about, but that is not its prime purpose and he enjoys experimenting with all the different places the water will pour from. The colours are bright but not glaring and I rather liked them as a change. The toy comes in a cardboard wrapper and has minimal packaging which I also like. The eco friendly nature of the manufacture is good but I would not like it for that alone - it is the thought that has gone into the toy and the potential for enjoyment which most pleases me.

Since having children I try to more aware of what their toys are made of and what they might be exposed to. I was pleased to try out Green Toys products. Not only are they made from recycled plastic there are no nasties that your child will be exposed too common in some cheaper toys. As these are meant for water play this is important to me.The tugboat is light and easy for little hands to pick up with the handle. It has a pouring spout at the front which is perfect for rinsing hair in the bath or pouring water in the water table. It floats so your little one can drive it round the bath. It's quite big at 23.5 x 14.5 x 14cm so you will need space to store it.Apparently it come apart for easycleaning but I couldn't get it apart so I will be popping into a bucket of Milton when it needs to be cleaned.

I have a few of these bath toys now and I love them. This tugboat is simple, with bold colours, a fun design and what feels like high quality plastic. The toy has really simple packaging that's very low on waste (it's printed cardboard - nothing flash). I love the company's philosophy and the kids (girls, 2 & 3) love the toy. Not only can it be used as a water jug but the spout and window arrangement make it easy to give it a voice and play make-believe with the kids.*Pros*Simple, bright, fun coloursDishwasher safeKids love itCan help wash your kids and their hairFun propeller to spinEasy to unpackNo assembly requiredVery low wasteDecent priceLove the company's philosophy*Cons*The logo is moulded with the plastic and is a bit of an eyesore.*Verdict*Very highly recommended.Love it.

At his charming little boat gets a big thumbs up in my house - we love the handle for sploosh ping through the bath or paddling pool, and the spout makes for a very satisfying pour when it is full of water. We have reviewed a few of the green toys brand boats and this one is my favourite so far - I think it would be really good for reluctant hair washers too as a way of rinsing without a jug!Green credentials come from using recycled plastic and simple brown cardboard packaging - I personally love the slightly muted matte look to the plastic and the whole kraft aesthetic - I would be pleased to give this as a gift to a child from baby to 5 years and since we have had it there hasn't been anight that it hasn't played in the bath tub!

This is a colourful and robust toy with excellent green credentials. It is made from recycled milk containers and is non-toxic; contains no BPA, PVC or phthalates. Its dimensions are 114mm, Length: 235mm, Depth: 115mm. Consists of 3 play pieces and is advertised for children from six months upwards. I think six months is, perhaps, a little early. It is small enough to play with in the bath, but robust enough to play with outside. In addition to functioning as a boat, it can be used in pouring and measuring games. It takes apart into three pieces. It would make a good - if rather expensive (RRP £12.20, Amazon £10.95) stocking filler.

My son absolutely loves the tug boat bath toy and I love everything it represents in terms of its eco friendliness. The tug boat and packaging are all made from recycled materials and contains no BPAS or other harmful things. Its a really good size, its large, bright and colourful and my lo loves it. Despite the size he can pick it up and fill it with water etcAlthough I prefer a normal jug for the flow rate you could even use this to rinse hair etc.The build quality is superb and sturdy and feels like it will withstand some abuse.Overall a superb bath toy

I was surprised by how much my boys enjoy this tug boat. I think the spout at the front that allows them to pour the water out is what does it. The grate at the rear allows easy filling by dunking the tug underwater, and then the spout at the front allows easy pouring (usually onto each other's heads). And, like all the Green Toys they have in the bath tub (they have several now), this one is fun to play with, sturdy, easy to disassemble and clean (which you need to do in order to prevent mold), and good for the environment. It is definitely a winner, all around!

These Green Toys are fantastically made, recycled plastic toys. Even the packaging is a recycled product. This does mean that there is a slight premium on the price as this is a pretty basic toy. Having said that, my boys love this in the bath - filling it up and pouring the water out again is THE BEST game in the world when you are 2! As a bonus, it makes hair washing and rinsing a job that takes half the time and is surprisingly well accepted. We love this toy and have a couple of them. They are really sturdy and dishwasher safe for easy, hygienic cleaning.

We have this and the submarine by Green Toys and are really pleased with both. They are solidly made and have taken a great deal of bath time use with no obvious problems. The boat lid pops apart for easy cleaning and helps us retrieve smaller toys our two year old has poked in. The boat is also very useful as a hair rinsing tool as it holds a pretty impressive amount of water much like the submarine. The joy of these toys is really in their simplicity really. No lights, no sounds, just solidly made, colourful and fun. Being recycled is a lovely bonus too!
