My daughter was very keen to have Toffee Pony and having bought Milky for her for Christmas we were a bit reluctant to have another animated toy especially as the reviews mentioned it was difficult to operate and that it didn't do much. However, much pester power later we purchased this and it came very well wrapped and ahead of scheduled delivery. It was very clear from the front page of the accompanying booklet how to operate it. Being a battery operated toy it makes sense for this to have a 'sleep mode' otherwise it would need powering to the mains as it would constantly run out of power! Once the batteries are inserted into the stomach area you need not open it again. To 'awaken'it after play simply press the sensor/button situated in the top of his tail for about 3 seconds, this is shown in the third 'bubble' or instruction. Once `awake' he responds to different things, the carrot and the brush operate him with 'magnets' creating happy/sad/hungry motions. The 'noise' required to upset him is basically to clap your hands once he's finished a little session of neighing for example, if you do it mid cycle it won't work. It's quite easy really....childs play! Now for the pony itself. It is well made and tactile with lovely detail, if I could find one fault it is that he doesn't stand up he is permanently lying down the legs are very floppy and you need to position these carefully to have him stay `upright' but you can't have everything. I think for £42 this is a good value present and we are certainly pleased with it but wouldn't want to add to the collection as there are only so many animated cuddly toys. If you are wondering about buying something like this but don't want to jump in financially the smaller Animagic toys would be a good benchmark as to whether or not your youngster would be interested in this type of toy. All round, does what it says on the tin, especially if you read the enclosed instructions!

I brought a Fur Real cat for my daughter and was unhappy with it as it broke the same day, so as her birthday is a week before Christmas, decided to buy her this pony just a week later. It was with some trepidation...However, I LOVE this pony! It is really rebust, there are not any delicate parts that you feel could snap with a little loving from small children and it interacts with them nicely. That said, I did have to you tube what to do with this pony as I couldn't get it to work properly at first....There is a hidden button in the tail that switches it on/off. If the pony is not interacted with constantly it does go into sleep mode. But I like this idea as it saves the batteries and my daughter had a short attention span when she first had it.It is lovely to watch her feed it and she does like to look after it too, with grooming and stoking it. The eyes are lovely and they blink and she neighs. It's a really sweet toy.I would have no hesitation to let her take this to bed (switching the tail off first - I'm not mad, as it is so soft and there would be no worry of bits breaking off or hurting her in her sleep. This could not be said for the Fur real pets. I think they are aimed at 6+, whereas this I would happily give to an 18 month +I would recommend

I ordered this toy for my two year old for christmas after he got excited watching an advert for it. He loves animals and will adore toffee the pony. He arrived this morning and i have had him out of the box to install batteries and check that it works (always a good idea to save hassle on christmas day as toffee comes tied to the box and it did take me quite a while to get to him, my son not being the most patient child at the best of times). Having installed batteries, which i found fairly easy to do and switched him on he started working straight away, he blinks his eyes and neighs. I had read reveiws saying that he didn't do much, i think for the money and as far as a 2 year old is concerned he does plenty,he does everything it says on the box and i have had no trouble waking him up once he has fallen asleep. He is grogeous to look at and nice and soft, not as rigid as other interactive toys i have come across. All in all i was very impressed, my son will love him and i think milky the bunny will definatly be making an appearance at our home for my sons third birthday next year. A great toy would definatly recommend.

My 4 year old son asked for this toy for his Birthday. This is a great toy of about 45cm approx. height but it does not stand up, as it's legs are soft. So the total height is reduced to 35cm approx. I would have personally preferred if the pony was able to stand up but no, the legs are floppy. It has a soft fury material but the body is hard due to the mechanism inside. This toy is very, very cute. I especially love his eyes (almond shaped) and the way it moves his little ears.To turn it on you insert the batteries, switch the button in his belly to "on" (under the Velcro), press the sensor/button situated in the top of his tail for about 3 seconds and start interacting with him with the carrot, tapping his head, brushing him…Please note when you receive it, once released and out of the box, it comes with no batteries. So have a small star head screwdriver ready and 4 x AA batteries (standard big ones)I have found the batteries to last for a month or so you better stock up and buy a big pack.In case it helps, I bought a very good deal on Amazon, here's the link.

Toffee, one of the most popular toys for christmas 2011.This Pony was the best present that my daughter (4yrs) got for her christmas. She takes it with her everywhere. No matter where she goes, it comes along. Whether its visiting grandparents or attending dance class. She even sleep with it, each and every night. So whats to special about this toy.First off, its the interactive part.It comes with a carrot and brush. When you brush it, the pony reacts to it.When the carrot are presented to the mouth part, its starts chewingsounds and the mouthpiece moves, so it seems and sounds like its actually eating. And then you can scare it. Make any really lound sounds close by, and it gets shocked. This is absolutely a fabolous toy,and the price is quite fair, comparing to how many hours of joy its given.I've recommended this toy to friends and family with kids around 4yrs.

My Daughter, 3 years old, made one sole wish for Christmas: "Mum, I would like to receive Toffee as a presente by Santa Claus"I couldn't find it anywhere here were I live at an acceptable price, so I decided to order the toy by Amazon. Very good price, perfect shipping time and an happy child were the results of my shopping! The toy works with batteries and is a plush pony that comes with a carrot and a brush; Toffee needs to be feeded, hugged and cuddled, as well as calmed if he gets scared. It seems to me the animal version of a classic doll that calls "Mum" and asks for the feeding bottle. I like it, but my daughter and all of her little friends are absolutely in love with it!I have to admit that Toffee is a very well made toy, soft but durable and "fall safe", with very cute eyes. So, all in all, I am very happy about the shopping I made on Amazon!

My little girl has been asking for this ever since the first advert came on the tv. I have been putting off buying it as other reviews mention it not doing much or their children becoming bored within a few hours play.......BUT!!My 5yr old loves Toffee and has not put her down or stopped playing with her since she opened the box, No it does not do much, however it does exactly what it says it will and does not try and claim to do anything else.It has been a joy to watch my daughters imagination take her on many adventures every day after school, as its all she wants to do untill dinner is ready. It also gives me piece of mind that I have spent my money well on this occasion and I have no regretsin buying this product.

My daughter fell in love with this toy through advertisement on tv. She's 6 and therefore kind of "old" for this toy, I thought. So when I finally decided to get it for here, it wasn't available anywhere and thanks to Amazon I managed to get one and even for a better price than in stores! The toy is the sweetest horse I've ever seen, it has soft fur and although its inside is harder (because of the batteries/motor) it's cuddly. When you turn it on it opens the sweetest, long-lashed animal eyes and it has all sorts of reactions. Fact is, my 6-year-old basically sleeps and plays with it every day and I've seen much older people in this house playing with it, too! A full success, not only for horse-lovers.

My daughter wanted this ever since it was first advertised on TV. I checked out some reviews for it on the run-up to Christmas and they were all so negative, I decided to wait until the new year and see if things improve.I finally got it for her this week for her Birthday and she was the happiest thing in the world.Toffee is appealing in looks and cuddlier than I expected. All the mechanics work fine and the quality is very satisfactory. Of course, as it is a new toy I cannot vouch for its durability, but it has started out well and the stitching is fine too. I can recommend Toffee. It will be a hit, I'm sure of it.

I ordered Toffee for my daughters 5th Birthday. We gave it to her on her Birthday and within 5 minutes of her playing with it the pony died.. I had a very upset little girl. I imediatley went onto Amazon website and downloaded the return information and labels and requested a replacement which I must say Amazon dispatched the replacement the next day, unlike other companies waitng unitl they have received original. Which arrived 5 days later but I do live in the Channel Islands. So far she has had hours of fun. It does exacley what is says on the box (For once).

This is at a bargain rate of under £30 at Amazon and I was lucky to get it for £50 at Christmas!! My 5 year old loves it and tries to take her to bed sometimes. It has three functions, being groomed, being fed, being frightened. It does also make a chomping noise when offered a carrot to calm it down. It's quite big too. I didn't think it would hold my little girl's imagination but she was happy with it which is all that matters ultimately.

I bought this for my 4 year old daughter who loves ponies. Its such a beautiful, and interesting toy and because it is quite large it was absolutely worth the £21 price I paidfor it. I would recommend it to people if their children like interactive toys. It isn't too loud either, something I find with othertoys that talk, make noises etc.My daughter was very happy with it, so I was happy too. 5 stars for Toffee!

Bought as a last minute gift for my daughters 4th birthday as was at a good price. Other places still asking just under £60. Due to mixed reviews we didn't want to waste money. But turns out a great toy that our daughter loves. Does everything it says on the box, soft and cuddly too. Only gripe is Shuts itself off sometimes when still being played with and you need to reset on/off switch. Otherwise a good buy!
