As of today: 26th Sept 2016, still going strong. No loose buttons or disappearing characters on the display and still got the same set of batteries I put in them, instead of the puny 450mA ones supplied.Good purchase.I ordered this to replace a BT Studio 100, that had died after 7 years.Rather than risk a no name own brand for slightly less cost from a major supermarket,I thought I'd try this.I didn't really need the instruction manual. Easy to change ringer volume and melody and add entries to the 'phone book.I like the illuminated display very much.If the ringer volume is too low, then this display flashes when a call is received, so will help alert you.Plug into the mains and connect the telephone line cable, insert the batteries and the battery cover, then place on the base to charge.Simple.I'd recommend you download a copy of the instruction manual from the company's www site.Useful if you lose the supplied one.The handset itself seems well made and the buttons are good quality, a firm press always works.Nice, clear display. As for the supplied batteries, I don't think I've ever seen 450mA AAA's on sale. You can always reuse the old handset batteries from whatever you are replacing, as they are probably still good. If you have a battery charger (that is 'smart') that has a 'discharge' function, then that might be worth doing beforehand.I simply used the 2 1,000 mA AAA's that were in my old handset, which work fine. The main selling point for me is that this model doesn't use a 'battery pack'. These are 2 or 3 batteries, wrapped in plastic, with an inch or two of twin core cable and a plastic plug. A replacement goes for around 10 pounds, assuming the type needed for your handset isn't 'discontinued' or needs ordering. AAA batteries cost around £1-1.50 each and are available on any high street. You also have to allow a battery pack to recharge if flat. A trickle charge can take 12 hours or more for a full charge. If AAA batteries go flat and I need to make urgent calls, I simply remove the handset batteries and replace them with freshly charged replacements in seconds or use a 15 minute charger. The instructions state 6.5 hours to charge the supplied batteries from flat, which is not too bad, although they are low capacity. As with all items that use rechargable batteries, don't leave the handset 'on charge' all the time.I'd remove it from the base unit during the day at the very least. Leaving it on the base reduces the battery capacity over time quicker than using it. If you use the supplied AAA batteries or other, higher capacity ones, it may take a few charge/discharge cycles to get the claimed battery standby/talktime from them.Charging and discharging gets the internal chemical reaction working properly.A short standby/talk time when new is normal until this is completed. The very few high street shops that sell this model, are twice as expensive. At £12.99 (including free delivery and only 2 days after ordering!), this is a steal.Unusually, this is not only designed, but also MADE in Germany, not some sweatshop factory in South East Asia.Recommended as an alternative to a BT made 'phone, that seem to go wrong bit by bit. First the buttons feel 'spongy', then the display goes etc etc.

For the current asking Price of under 25 quid, these Trio (3) Phones in a nice box set made by a German setup (so, high quality assured).I bought Because I lived and worked in Germany in 1991, and Gigaset was a Trusted Brand sold in the shops away back then, but 'DECT' hadnot yet risen it was 'RF Wireless technology' inferior compared to what we have today. (Well the DECT Threesome Handsets) are light, yetsturdy, and have a cool & vivid caller display, letters and numbers. A built-in telephone book, and tonnes off features, to get stuck into..The digits are all back-lit so you can see in poor light, just what number you are dialing, and what your are pulling out of your address book! They come with decent quality (AAA rechargeable batteries)to insert then set on the charging station to charge which takes 2-3hrs only. Its an all inclusive package, which means you don't need to buy anything extra, its all there in the Box.The Gigaset A120 DECT Trio Cordless phone set are unbelievably good value for money. I bought myself (1) Then ordered another (2) sets for Xmaspresents, which will not be long away. (Before they sellout at the current asking price, they are a mere Bargain)..The reception is very good throughout the house, and have not encountered any signal dropouts (whatsoever). All in all, I'm very happy and relaxed with my purchases, would highly recommend to anyone who would normally only go for a single or doublepack, you can like grab a (3 DECT Cordless Phone-set) made by Gigaset, a faithful German brand, and something that will last 3-5yrs.Tell you what, if think you have not bought a reasonable bargain, once you get them charged and in everyday use - I would be disappointed,as they have a lovely ring tone, the type that's difficult to find these days, and they are very light, yet robust, and well made.I hope my review has been of some help.! I am really happy with this phone having bought the 2-pack. I bought this phone set because of the ECO technology and because of its positive reviews, and despite the many less positive reviews that say the phone is very quiet (because I didn't see how this be likely).I am glad I went ahead because this is all the home phone I will ever need. The build quality is very good, and whilst the plastic is hard and thin, it is textured and comfortable and feels like it will last. No rubbery bits that eventually peel off, or silver coating that eventually wears through. The sound quality is top notch - I can only think that some other reviewers do not realise that they can turn the earpiece volume up.I have normal hearing and the loudest setting is too loud. The ringer volume is also absolutely fine. We live in a relatively large house (3,000 sq ft) with many walls, and I can hear at least one of these phones from anywhere when they ring. I have them on setting 5 (max). Some of the ring tones are 'interesting' but they will be on a £150 phone too. Also, there are also some unexpected features. The time and date are displayed, there is caller display, it stores 50 numbers if you can be bothered, and it makes life easier by automatically transferring them to the other phones in the set. You can make an internal call, page the base station, and forward calls to another set too. I didn't have these on the £100 set this replaces. Finally, battery life is immense. I have taken other reviewers' advice and heeded the instructions regarding extending battery life by letting them run down completely after the first charge. Eight days later and both phones have battery life left having had no recharge! As you can see I am a fan. It's all you need from a phone at a cracking price. Well done Gigaset.

These are absolutely great value at the price paid (£25 for a 3-pack delivered). Compact and light. As others have said, the ringer volume is not particularly loud but it's not been a problem as we now have wireless phones in almost every room and without lots of wires (why not at this price?).Nice internal call facility (press INT then handset number 1 to 4) though this is (fairly obviously) restricted to handsets linked to the same base station. We have two other Siemens DECT base stations from earlier purchases (going back years) and these phones are fully compatible i.e. they can be linked to any of the three stations and, conversely, any of the old Siemens handsets can link to the new base.In theory I suppose they ought to be compatible with any DECT base station but experience shows this isn't always the case across different manufacturers and I haven't tried to do it.There is a limit of four handsets to any one base station but there is nothing preventing you doing what I have done and attaching multiple base stations to extensions on the same phone line. Certainly I've had no problem connecting three Siemens base stations with a total of around 9 handsets (each linked to a particular base). The supplied handset batteries are relatively low-capacity (400mAh) AAA re-chargables but if you generally keep the handset on its charger stand this won't be an issue. In any case, as they are a standard-size removable battery, it is easy enough to switch to higher-capacity batteries with the same voltage.

The old set of cordless phones started to fail, so a good look around for a budget set of 3 replacements finally settled on the Siemens Gigaset A120, German designed and manufactured. These are the bottom of the range as I just wanted a phone without too many gizmos. Our ISP provides a message facility so answerphone was unnecessary. They arrived on schedule as usual. On unpacking it was disappointing to find the instructions recommended fully charging the handsets for 6.5 hours then allow them to discharge....this took 6 days! I can understand the reason, (to condition the batteries) but it was a pain. Having followed that process the installation and set up was a doddle. One of the best features is that having populated one handset with all your contact numbers (up to 50) you can send the list to each of the other handsets (so you don't have to manually add them to each handset). It is surprising that after 50 numbers you can think of others! There are other useful features like a mute for the ringer - great when visitors use a bedroom with a handset. The manufacturer claims outstanding clarity of voice. Must say that it is entirely satisfactory, and overall performance thus far has been excellent. One insignificant irritation is that replacement of the handset into the base can be slightly fiddly - insignificant as stated.

Have actually had this make of fone before - not particularly pretty but brilliant fones, enduring, tough, efficient, work well.Original set was x2 - broke one of them fones the other day (my fault not fone) and needed to replace them so at least one fone was charging while the other was in use. Most 2x sets now cost the earth and 3x prohibitive....found this 3x set by chance when surfing Amazon one night - amazing value - would normally pay 60-80.00 now for a x3 set so snapped their hand off....came nearly overnight - well packaged, good instructions (in ENGLISH - German maker though) - only take 6.5hrs to charge - most take 12+ - charged overnight and worked perfectly Am - v sharp and clear and apart from look which I find rather ugly, they're first class and at this price, unbelieveable. Would have loved them in red or pink though - black is so depressing and just looks too functional. This model beta than previous, more features etc but would continue buying this brand forever if I could and had to...no problems/arguments with them - and a v happy Bunny me....disabled, so now got fones in every room to make life easier and 2 charged and awaiting use when one if down - thanks - brill!! We bought this around a month ago and over all have been very impressed with its performance. The phone itself is very lightweight and almost feels weightless. I usually prefer to feel something a bit more substantial and heavy in both home and mobile phones, but this actually works really well and is very comfortable to use.The clarity of calls (in both directions) is exceptional and we really noticed a difference from the previous (ancient and cheap) corded home phone. That's another positive, the fact that the device is cordless has been a revaluation; I can't believe we didn't get one years ago. They claim an extravagant battery life, presumably because of the small 2-tone screen not draining the power, but we've been pretty good about making sure that the phone always goes back in the dock so there has been no chance to test their claims as yet.The only real downside for us was the choice of ringtones which do border on the bizarre. No 'classic ring' is available but there is a multitude of monophonic tunes which sound like they've been lifted straight from a late 1990's nokia mobile phone. With the ringtones as the only downside, I feel confident about recommending this to anyone.

So my BT phone packed up and I needed an alternative at a cheap price. I had assumed it was gonna be poor quality. I mean look at the price what can you expect? To my surprise and much delight the phones are actually quite good and I strangely prefer them over my previous set. They sit nicely on two hooks, the picture doesn't really give it justice but I assure you they look pretty cool. The features are default, but nice. I never was one for lots of bells and whistles in the phone. You get a phone book, selection of tones and that's your lot. There is a downside, which isn't really a downside because it doesn't actually effect to phone at all. The adapter for the secondary cradle is very weird,I never seen one quite like it. Think of a connector that has been crushed and stretched out, like a thin harmonica. Yeah thats' about right. I'm not sure where you would buy a spare one.Anyway, good choice!

Bought this to replace one of the DECT handsets that came with a Panasonic DECT phone set up which died.I am becoming increasingly disappointed with the longevity of Panasonic products as this is the second item I have had of their products which failed not long out of warranty. Anyway I was not going to go for an expensive replacement and clearly this was the correct decision.Neat little unit, the handset is much neater than the Panasonic one, almost the same size as some of the older mobile phones. It registered faultlessly with the Panasonic base unit. The only down side is the screen which whilst illuminated is a little on the small size, not a deal breaker though. If I ever have to replace the whole DECT set up at home (answerphone the lot)I will just get a Gigaset one as they are more than suited to the purpose and much better value than the Panasonic versions.

The product arrived very quickly and was well packaged. It is an economical cordless phone system which performs better than its price would suggest. Two main negatives are the volume levels of the ring tone and of voice reproduction - even at maximum setting - it is only just adequate for people with normal hearing and not quite good enough with those with a mild hearing deficiency unless the ambient noise level is very low. In retrospect, a loudspeaking/handsfree model might have been better, albeit at a higher price. The handsets are light but seem satisfactory. Another slight criticism is that the holders are so light that they do not stay put on a horizontal surface: there is provision to screw them to a vertical surface but that is not always convenient/desirable.All in all,a satisfactory phone system and good value for the price.

I disagree with most of the negative reviews. The ringer volume, however, is definitely very low. Not a problem for me in a small, open plan flat. The principle reason for my purchase of this 'phone was the ECO mode. This switches off the base station radiation when the 'phone is in stand-by mode. It also adjusts the radiation strength according to how far away from the base station the handset is being used. Price was not a consideration, but it's nice it is so cheap. The audio is decent quality and I found the volume to be more than adequate. Undoubtedly there are better DECT 'phones available, but if radiation emitted from the base unit is a major concern then this model is an excellent option.I don't want it to make me a cup of tea, just make 'phone calls! It ticks all my boxes.

I've had lots od DECT phones over the years and our 4 year old philips ones died this week so we needed a set in a hurry.Didn't want an answer phone as use bt 1571 but did need 3 handsets.First I have to say - these aren't the best top quality German built phones ever - but they do have a solid pedigree with the Gigaset name and hopefully the electronics under the plastic casing is good. Everytime we get a new phone system the build quality (and price to be fair) appears to be lower than the previous set.Needless to say added the batteries (AAA's so easy to replace), plugged them in and they all worked fine - ring tones as others have noted are a little naff. For a little over £10 a handset I'mvery pleased and they deserve 5*'s because of the value.

Ok, I'll admit it. Price was a factor in this purchase. I needed a cordless homephone quickly, and without too much haggling over the bill. The handset gets good reception to the base, all throughout my flat. The battery holds a good charge due to the relatively frills-free design of the menus, etc.My caveat here (a big one I think) is that the ringer is pitifully quiet even on maximum volume. I do not suggest this phone if you are hard of hearing, or have a very large house where you might be several rooms away when the phone rings. If you are like me however (cheap) and just need a spade to be a spade, this will indeed adequately do the job.EDIT: My wife is a genius and was able to increase the volume,in this case I will up my rating by one star.

My Gigaset phone arrived just two days ago - and it is perfect for what I need. I live in a small, quiet two story flat. The phone has no problem with reception anywhere in the flat. The sound is clear and sharp - and my friends and family have no difficulty hearing me. I find absolutely nothing wrong with the ring-tones. The phone beeps according to a certain quasi-musical line - reminiscent of computers in the 80's. For the price, it is perfectly acceptable - and I can hear it ringing from upstairs (though, as I said, my flat is small). If you have a large house and a family, this probably wouldn't be the right phone for you. If you have just moved into a small flat - and live with a partner or alone,it is "fit for purpose". A great value!

Unfortunately I already had 2 of these phones and could only add 2 more handsets, thus I have one spare. As it is it is still good value and the phones work well with my Vonage line. Why only 4? Perhaps it is to force buyers to go and buy more expensive multiple sets?Adding new numbers to one handset was very easily transferred to the other three, so that made getting up and running very easy to do.In my average sized terraced house I can clearly hear the often criticised ring tones, even with the TV on.The handset is comfortable to hold, the only negative I have for it is that it lacks a handsfree audio speaker,so useful when put on hold by the bank or BT.Well worth the money when buying on a limited income.
