If you are looking for a 3 season lightweight, small pack size sleeping bag that doesn't cost silly money then I think the best options after much research and review reading are the Gelert Xtreme lite 1200 and Mountain warehouse Microlite 950. I have a microlite 950 and have just bought a xtreme lite 1200.Gelert Xtreme lite 1200 Retail £57.99 - best price £39.99 with free deliveryWeight 1.2kgFront 2 x 125g/m2 pro fibreBack 1 x 200g/m2 pro fibreSize 50cm x 78cm x 210cmExtreme -22.6 degrees (although these are nonsense)Comfort -5.4 to +0.5 degreesPack size 40x18 to 27x22+ Feels warmer+ 200g lighter+ Hood drawstring work a bit better.- Chest baffle is low even for 5'10.It should be nearer the top.- Noticeably narrower around the legs.Mountain warehouse Microlite 950 Retail £52.99 - best price £34.99 with 2.95 delivery.Weight 1.4kgFront 2 x 120g/m2 mirco fibreBack 1 x 200g/m2 mirco fibreSize 50cm x 80cm x 215cmExtreme -10 degrees (although these are nonsense)Comfort -3 to +15 degrees (15 degrees? is from their website and seems odd)Pack size - uncompressed slightly slimmer but slightly longer, volume approx the same as the Gelert.+ Noticeably wider and longer+ Better chest baffle, wider and at the correct height.I think the Gelert is better, shame about the baffle. But beware if you are much taller than 5'10" or eat a lot of pies!

Just back off a 2 day trip to lakes in mid July. I "wild camp" at altitudes of 400-600m in the Lakes where temperatures in summer can touch freezing at night and last years sleeping bag was just too cold. Weight is important to me as obviously everything goes on my back so I was about to spend 200 on a Rab/Mountain Equipment down jobbie when I saw this and thought - "What, 39quid for 0 degree comfort rating and 1200g weight, gotta be worth a go"... well Im glad to say it was.On the first night the bag kept me very warm wearing only a t-shirt, shorts and socks at altitude and last night i just needed shorts as it was much warmer.Downsides which make me give 4 stars are that at 6'3 Im a touch too tall for this bag and the bag is a very snug fit so if you're broad and you like to be able to move then give this a miss. For most "average" users (anyone between 5"3 and 6"1, slim to medium build) I cant think of better for spring to autumn outdoors...

As I'm looking to do some cycle touring next year I was happy to find this sleeping bag in the Amazon Black Friday Sale.It arrived today, so thought I'd try it out for size, as a larger guy (currently around 130Kg) I find it quite snug, but I was able to fully zip it up and I'm sure when I have lost a few pounds it will be fine, although if Gelert's Sleeping Pod was in the Amazon sale I would have gone for that.I was going to try and spend the night in it, but being indoors I found it just too hot, which can only be a good thing when it comes to being outside.I was able to get it back into the compression bag in just 2-3 minutes, which I'm sure will be faster with practice.I look forward to using this properly and will post an update when hat happens

Bought this bag for riding the Hadrians Wall Cycleway in September. It was plenty warm enough, even though the weather wasn't great, and would have coped with it being a lot colder; and light enough to carry on a bike. Excellent value.I know another reviewer found it hard to get it back into its stuff-sack. I have to say I didn't find this a problem at all - my smaller, lighter summer sleeping bag is much harder to get back into its sack than this one. But don't try to fold and roll it, which is how it comes from the factory, that doesn't work. The clue's in the name: it's a stuff sack, so just stuff it in, bit by bit. It fits easily then.

The sleeping bag itself is very good, being both warm and very, very light - however the problem is the stuff sack. It too is made from very lightweight materials which means you can't really use the compression straps to squeeze the sleeping bag down into a small bundle. As soon as I put any pressure on the straps they started to tear and give at the seams. This is a real shame as otherwise this would have been a 5 star product. I suppose it's not a major problem though as you can always buy a separate, more robust compression sack from somewhere like Blacks or Cotswolds - you shouldn't really have too though.

I bought this last year, I was staying at my friends house during the exam period. It's soft and the material is smooth and lovely to be in. The built in pillow is of course minimal and trying to layer another one inside it is really awkward. There is a zip on the side that can be zipped from either end, you can unzip from the bottom to allow the heat from your legs to escape. So it's easy to make it cooler and I haven't used it outside but I'm sure it will do well. When it is zipped up I bake in side.

Brought this sleeping bag as froze on last trip using a 2 season one ! used a couple of times this month ( sept ) on overnight kayak trips and slept very well, bag nice and soft and warm ,pack size not the smallest but put in a second stuff sack and it can be less.lots of room above waist but if you like to move your legs around it could be a bit restricted due to mummy shape, but this shape keeps weight and size down .overall very well made and a very good purchase at a very good price .

I have not used this bag in ernest yet, but first impressions are very favourable. I did have an expensive down bag, but have developed an allergy to feathers!! So for this reason needed a hollow-fill bag.I was prepared to spend much more than this, but the number of favourable reviews I read persuaded me to give this a go.It has so far proved warm, is relatively light and seems to be well made. The real test will be when I take it to Scotland, but that won't be for a while yet.

I bought this for my girlfriend before our trip to South America from March to September. We were camping as far south as Patagonia, in Torres del Pine for example, and also used it as high as the Salar in Bolivia and it kept her warm all the way.It is very comfortable too. Moreover, it is very light, and rolls up very small, which is important when you have to carry it around on your back for six months! All in all, a brilliant sleeping-bag which I would highly recommend.

If like me you can't stand the teeniest bit of cold then this is a must buy. It is so warm and the design fits snuggly around you. My boyfriend tried it and he said it was far too hot (we were in Africa) but that is what I like. It is also really comfy and i didn't even bother using my roll mat after the first week with it as it has plenty of padding to it. I'm glad I bought it and can definitely see it standing the test of time.

Have waited to review this bag until I returned from a recent camping trip to Siberia. Temperatures were down to zero at night and I was snug and warm (unlike others on the trip!). The bag is extremely light and easy to pack. Zips are good and strong and the little frill around the top of the bag proper stops the warmth escaping once you are tucked in. Very pleased with a bag of this quality at the price.

I specially ordered synthetic sleeping bag, as they are perfect choice for UK, where raining for 4 days nonstop and waking up in a tent full of water (even double sided) is usual thing. Moreover this sleeping bag is one of the lightest synthetic bags I have seen on the market, and considering it's price and temperature range, I find it perfect choice for Duke of Edinburgh Gold expedition.

I have used the bag once over the past week and find it very good. I also own an extreme lite 1000 and find a nice improvement in warmth with the 1200. The only drawback is the size of the carry bag. Compared to the 1000 it is proportionally much more difficult to get the bag rolled small enough to get it into its carrybag and i feel that with repeated use the carry bag will become torn.

Just used this sleeping bag on a wild camping trip to Scotland. It wasn't super cold at night but it did get a tad chilly and I was kept nice and snug in my bag. It does taper quite a bit in width at the feet but as I am fairly short (5'4") this was no problem. Found it light enough for carrying with me in the backpack. Overall a nice little lightweight bag for the price :)
