I bought an alarm clock from Argos a few days ago to replace my oregon scientific alarm that had died after many years use. The clock from Argos was a standard alarm and I found that when it went off I could not hear it, it was so quiet. I know I am a little hard of hearing but not that bad. I took it back and since then I have tried another 3 alarm clocks in the shop and they are all so very quiet. My hearing problem is on the high frequency bands.After doing some research on the best type I ordered this Sonic Boom SBA475SS and it is great. It is tone adjustable so if you have a problem hearing high or low frequencies you can set it to suit. There is a bright backlight that can be turned off and the alarm itself can be set for vibrate,

On several occasions recently I overslept due to hearing loss in my left earI knew that vibrating alarm clocks existed and as a result of a search found the Sonic Boom SBA475SSI made the purchase through Amazon and it was delivered promptly in good conditionI have not overslept sinceI use the vibrator pad under my pillow on the lowest setting with the sound turned offI am wakened by what I would describe a gentle tugging which is more pleasant than a harsh alarmMy only complaint is that the snooze time is not varible and is a bit short at 4 minutes. I would also like a 24 hour setting which would remove the need to reset the alarm each nightI am well pleased with my purchase

I am deaf ( use a cochlear Implant in the day to hear) So I needed a good alarm clock to wake me to replace my old geemarc. I also work nights so I need a seperate clock from my wifes who works days,I got my clock from AMAZON promptly as usual on Saturday,No problems setting it up, just plug it in to the mains with the plug supplied and set the clock time ( easy with the two little knobs on the rear of the clock) Same for the alarm setting.The greatest thing with this clock is it gives a nice blue night light when on, not intrusive just a gentle light to guide your way with out waking your partner.I have it plugged in to the vibrating device

I bought this for my mother who is partially deaf and had been sleeping through her morning alarm. There is absolutley no chance of her sleeping through this baby! Just to make sure you don't continue to slumber, there is also the vibrating pad which again is very powerful. Would be 5 stars for loudness but reduced to 4 stars because the controls are a bit fiddly and small. My mum is in her 80s and has arthritis so finds the controls quite hard to adjust, even something as basic as turning the alarm off after it goes off in the morning.

Larger than I expected but meets my needs perfectly. Even under a thick mattress the vibrator would wake the dead- no need for CPR! The snooze button is easily accessible and after a couple of trial runs I find switching off the alarm is no problem. For me the back light is too bright but the problem is solved by switching it off. Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Looks a bit old fashioned, but it works well. The alarm is quite loud, and with the switchable flashing light does the job of waking me up. Also as it is mains powered, I don't have to worry if the batteries are going flat.

The alarm is easy to use with only a few controls allowing for loud/quiet buzz and /or bright flashing lights when the alarm is sounded. Bought for a user who is deaf and partially sighted who is very pleased with it.

im hard of hearing but tend to wake up at the slightest noise. so i sometimes wear ear plugs which has caused me to sleep through my alarm before - not any more cos i use the vibrate function. brilliant. :)

A wonderful alarm clock for anyone with hearing difficulties . It has great volume , flashing lights & a pad that vibrates under your pillow . Very , very good item , well worth the money .

Brilliant clock with good vibrate and flashing but back light is too bright for sleeping so has to switch off in fact there 2 settings bright and low light

My dad loves this. He can hear it without the vibrating pad which is marvellous. It has different pitches and is huge so no chance of over sleeping

This equipment is has a powerful Alarm and buzzer. Unfortunately it does not stop me from falling back a sleep.

This is the one alarm clock that actually wakes me up. Well worth the money!
