Dad (I'm not deaf!), wanted yet another phone as could not hear us talking to him. Latest ones tried were the BT Big Button corded with an amplifier, Amplicomms BigTel 202 Big Button Amplified Cordless ( plus an amplifier) and various others.Being as this was touted as " the loudest phone in the world!", and recommended on a number of elderly care and hard of hearing sites we though wed give it a go.Turned the switch on the back to keep the ring tone and hearing volume always high ( cause he kept forgetting to use the "+" buttons on the others and set it to 40BD ( 60DB being the hardest). My brother rang the the phone and I answered - and then wish id read the warning about " acoustic shock" for people who do not have hearing problems using it !!!.Ears rang for about 5 minutes. It is definitely about 10 times louder than a standard and easily 4 or 5 times louder than the amplified ones we have tried in terms of call volume. There is not that much difference in the volume of the phone ringing compared to other amplified phones, but the difference in the volume for call volume to hear people on the other end beggars belief :we put batteries in as well as using the mains adapter as other reviewers suggested, so this may be a factor.Easy to set up, and big buttons plus the flashing when ringing makes it ideal overall.Only downside ( also reported by other reviewers) is the hissing on the line. HOWEVER, Dad says he cant hear it, so maybe it is another thing that only affect those of us with good hearing ?

Grandma can now hear people on the phone. For the last seven years we had resorted to eitheri. getting annoyed (man's way of dealing with it) orii. just yelling, "Yes" or, "No" (woman's way of dealing with it).Now we can talk normally.NOTE: there is the terrible crackling on the line that other people have reported, but Grandma can't hear it, so not a problem. It may go away - one reviewer said it had on his.TOP TIP 1: Don't leave the instruction book with your elderly person or they will be tempted to read and interpret - I said I had to take it to register the guarantee, so it was out of sight and mind - this prevented 'fiddling'.TOP TIP 2: We used the three coloured buttons for Grandma'sthree sons and stuck name labels on each.We also wrote labels for the other programmed buttons with her son's mobile numbers, but,TOP TIP 3: we wrote their name and the word 'Work', because Grandma has some very funny ideas about how and where mobiles work and that you can only call a mobile from a mobile and that mobile numbers are the same as your home number. She doesn't therefore know that she has any mobile numbers programmed on her phone (this may, of course, be a problem peculiar to us!)TOP TIP 4: Treat Grandma to a new phone book and just write in the people who are still alive and the businesses that are still trading.

The biggest problem with this phone is that when the volume is amplified, the person on the other end of the line can barely hear you.[edit: this seems to improve with use - phone sounds normal now]. This seems to be a common problem with a number of amplified phones and phone amplifiers. In addition I also found that when installing this phone for a deaf relative the volume and tone adjustment sliders don't respond in a uniform manner therefore getting to sound right is fiddly.[Edit:once set it's fine]This is the second Geemarc Amplipower 50 I've tried and both exhibit the same problems.[Edit: after a few initial problems this phone has proved to be invaluable for it's user - maybe a batch ofthese phones were kept in a damp warehouse and dry out once in a heated home but whatever the reason for the initial problems the phone seems to improve with use. I've improved my initial 2 star rating to 4 as it is an excellent product when it works but quality control could be better.]

This is a good phone for someone like my mother who is quite deaf and cannot master holding a phone correctly to use with a hearing aid. I could probably have got away with the model 40. Both require power to function unlike the base model (which I have also tried). It can be set to use tone controls and powered amplification when you pick up which helps simplify operation. Some other makes require pressing "amplify" every time. The catch is for users with normal hearing you can potentially get your head blown off. It is LOUD! You don't want to put it near your ear with 60dB boost on.The worst feature of the phone is that for someone with normal hearing and the amplifier and tone controls turned off there is a moderate level of high frequency white noise added to the signal. This distracting but does not prevent using it. I have knocked one star off for this defect.

The phone is great but don't use this seller. First phone ordered was faulty. Replacement phone arrived - wrong model, non UK power lead, non UK phone lead, headset cord damaged. Third phone finally satisfactory. The phone is for my 85 year old living alone partially blind Mum. Each time someone had to go into her flat (whilst she shut herself away in the bedroom) as she cant see to plug in a phone lead. - not a good thing during a pandemic. Each time Mum was left without a phone which she relies on for contact with everyone. From start to finish it took over 3 weeks and much hassle to get Mum a working phone. Unbelievable levels of seller incompetence.Anybody can be excused one mistake but this has been ridiculous and I haven't even detailed the hassle I've had getting it sorted out.

My father's hearing is now very poor, and telephone conversations were proving very difficult. This phone has changed all that, and we can have a normal conversation. To those with normal hearing, the sound from the headset does appear distorted (it is extremely loud) and there is a hissing in the background, which I think is intended to help those with tinnitus. However my father cannot hear the hissing, and says the sound is very clear. He has the volume almost to the maximum, and uses it without his hearing aid. He is using the phone with the settings as it arrived from Amazon, though you can control volume and tone of the ringer and the hansdset.

This phone is brilliant, I have just bought it for my 80 plus year old father who is very, very hard of hearing. I was so tired of shouting down the phone to him, and not answering the phone as he couldnt hear it ringing!!It was very easy to set up, and was so loud that I didnt need to have it on full volume for the ringer because there is a light that flashed when it rings that is easy to see.The 60bd amplipower is a revelation, I can speak to him at a normal level and he hears me, great, no more shouting down the phone!. My dad is so pleased with this product as he can have a good gossip now on the phone with his friends!.

Bought this for my profoundly deaf mother. As others have said it is indeed very loud, in fact loud enough to the point where she doesn't need to use the +60db boost button (which I should add does introduce some small distortion for the user). Hearing aid compatibility is also good and it has made phone calls a less stressful experience as I need to repeat myself less. One thing to note....my mother states that there is also a power supply that comes with the phone which you need to plug into a wall socket. It seems this is required for the incoming calls ringer.

Being extremely hard of hearing I decided to try this as I cannot hear on normal 30 db phones and this one has helped me immensely to hear a conversation properly again. It is quite expensive but worth every penny as it goes up to 60 db. The number storage is good and the instructions easy to follow. The fact that it can be wall mounted is good as it takes up no space on my desk. The handsfree option is very clear and I no longer need to hold it if I am taking notes on anything. I strongly recommend this telephone to everyone with a hearing problem.

I bought this telephone for my sister who is 78 and has to wear a hearing aidLiving quite a distance from her, I telephone her on a regular basis but had found it very frustrating trying to have a conversation with her on an ordinary telephone.Since I bought the Geemarc it is like haveing my sister in the same room as me - she can know hear everything I say and we enjoy our conversations a lot more - her son has already recommended this to his Mother-in law.Really excellentThank you

Bought this for my mum as she is very hard of hearing and i was forever having to shout or repeat myself when talking to her,we were both very frustrated ! This phone is totally amazing we can now talk to each other on the phone without having to repeat everything. The seller is very good as the first phone didn't arrive i suspect was actually due to royal mail backlog but was replaced by seller without quibble and i received it a few days later.

If you are looking for a Telephone for someone who is severely deaf then look now further. This model by Geemarc is without a doubt the most powerful. The flashing strobe light is also a welcome sight when the phone rings.Beware do not to use this phone at the Max 60db if your hearing is normal. All in all a superb telephone very clear sound even at maxium setting. An added bonus is the loud speaker.

Having hearing loss I found the phone working fine. It can amplify the signal as promised to hear the sound loud and clear. But the slide Volume on the phone amplifies its own speaker only. It means that while using the headset (hands free) you cannot get the same signal strong enough to hear correctly. That's why I had to return Geermac headset as not useful with this phone.

Bought this Amplipower 50 for my wife as she wears two hearing aids. We have tried a number of different phones but this one is by far the best. When we tried it for the fist time using 1471 and using the hands free option she said it was to loud turn it down so there is plenty volume for her needs. For me its Magic.

Works well though the ringer off button seems easily caught and inadvertently switched off.Excellent sound and good to be able to press just one button to restore normal sound which then reverts to loud for next call.Pity no caller display option but overall good for what it's designed for.
