I absolutely love this watch. I've owned it now for 5 months (bought direct as this version wasn't available via Amazon at the time) and it has lived up to all the reviews and specifications impeccably.I had owned a couple of high end Android smartwatches before this. Using a Smart watch instead of the phone in your pocket to watch videos, look at maps etc is a gimmick that very quickly wears thin - something that can't be said of Smartwatches! After several months of Smartwatch wear, essentially it had 3 functions that I found useful; telling the time (it is supposed to be a watch after all), getting notifications, e.g phone ringing or incoming text and fitness tracking.Beyond these three functions I would resort to retrieving the phone everytime.Carrying a 1/2 inch thick lump on my wrist that would last max 2 days without charging - if I was away camping for example - and needed two hands to tell the time (unless you're willing to look like a mad conductor trying to get 'gestures' to work) quite frankly became tiresome and I dumped the Smartwatch in the bedside drawer for a good old fashioned analogue watch.Obviously I lost my ability to monitor fitness and for my watch to tell me when my phone was ringing remotely or that I'd received a text message.I then started to spot hybrid watches on the market (initially via Kickstarter projects). Having read many user reviews online, I decided to ditch the full functionality of a full screen hybrid for either the Nokia HR or the Garmin Vivomove HR, both of which had a small notification screen.I opted for the Garmin with silver hands and leather strap as I believed it looked more timeless and classy and that the notification screen looked less obvious. When the watch arrived, my expectations on its appearance were exceeded. What isn't apparent from the promotional pictures is just how discrete the notification screen is. You really do have to look hard to see the screen at the bottom of the watch face and I suspect the product photographers had a hard job getting the images in the listing which show the screen clearly. Whenever I show someone this watch on my wrist, they don't believe me it's a Smartwatch as they can't see a screen until I tap the face.Functionally, the constantly on fitness tracking is something my full screen smartwatches just couldn't match. This was available with my LG Urbane, but it then needed charged all night every night and if you forgot to charge at night you were carrying a large dead brick on your wrist by 10 oclock in the morning. With the Garmin, I receive constant heart rate monitoring, activity monitoring, an analogue watch that I can read at a glance and my notifications. In other words it fulfilled all the functions I found useful in a Smartwatch but without the bulk or toy like glowing appearance.Battery life is better than advertised I'd say - I usually get around 6 to 7 days between charges. When the battery is flat the analogue watch continues to function - glad to say Garmin have remembered the primary function of a watch is to tell the time - I've not pushed this beyond 12 days between charges, but I can state it certainly continued to function then. This review may seem as if half of it is about the shortfalls of Smartwatches, and this would be a fair summation. What I am really trying to express is that if you are thinking of dipping your toe into Smartwatch territory - don't - get yourself a hybrid watch instead. And if your thinking of a Hybrid watch the Garmin Vivomove HR is stylish, elegant, understated and far exceeds expectations - you won't go wrong buying this watch in my opinion.

This is being penned after just one day of use, so may not be my final review. However, initial impressions are very good indeed, certainly compared to my woeful experiences with the Fitbit Versa (see my separate review of that gadget). Firstly, its appearance is great, looking just like a minimalist analogue watch, though perhaps it is a shame that there is no second hand. Some have commented that the hour hand is difficult to see but I haven't really found that to be a problem and I like the way the whole face has a radiating sheen to it. The killer feature is of course the digital display which can be activated simply by flicking the wrist over or by a double tap on the screen area. This works surprisingly well, although at first navigating through the display can seem a little challenging. The features on offer are very comprehensive, extending to steps, heart rate, calories, floors climbed, notifications (from any app), calls which can be accepted or rejected straight from the watch, among other things. You can also start an exercise session from the watch itself. Although there is no GPS, nor even connected GPS, I have tested it against a GPS enabled device and certainly on a walk at least the distance recorded over two miles was almost spot on. Not being a runner I haven't tried it when running but it is probably a similar picture. The range of exercises is limited and doesn't include cycling, though that can be covered to some extent by the category "other". Unlike my experience with the Versa there were no major problems setting the device up, which included an OS update, and the connection to my phone (a OnePlus 5T) has been rock solid with no syncing issues. So far battery life looks good. It came pretty much fully charged but based on usage so far, which has included a lot of playing with it, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it lasted the claimed 5 days from a single charge. For the price, which is quite a lot less than the Versa, it offers excellent value for money and it also trounces the similarly priced Nokia Steel HR which has a much lower degree of functionality.Update: still loving this watch having used it continuously for a couple of weeks. Battery life is as good as expected and the functionality is great - getting well into smartwatch territory, which one wouldn't expect from a watch of this type. Connection to my phone - a OnePlus 5T - has been rock solid. If you go out of range of the phone, the watch instantly lets you know and again when you get back in range. You can also locate your phone with the watch once you are in range. I have installed a screen protector, as some have said the screen is susceptible to scratching. I manage to get a good value one on Amazon, which is invisible if correctly applied and the watch still functions perfectly.

I bought the Vivomove HR just after Christmas and have enjoyed a good few weeks of getting used to it. I feel like I know enough about the watch now to give it a good review, so here it goes!First of all, overall I must say that I am really inpressed with this watch. Not only is it exceptionally smart (I'd wear nothing less), but the whole concept of an analogue/smart watch is a really cool idea. I have seen some people moaning about the visibility of the hands, and although I do understand their groans, all it takes is a flick of a wrist and you can get a digital view of the time. Hardly a deal breaker for me.Drilling down into the actual fitness tracking of this watch, once again I must say that I am equally as impressed. The Garmin app that you link the watch to is really cool & informative. You can set yourself daily challenges, join groups, challenge friends etc. I bought my fiancee a Fitbit for Christmas and I'd go as far as saying the Garmin is more accurate. It doesn't seem to pick up on any wrist shaking and seems to give a very precise representation of steps actually done in the day.I do a lot of weight training in the gym and this watch gives you the option (as well as others, like running, swimming, cycling) of tracking your session. You start your session and it will pick up the amount of reps you do, when you finish you simply tap the screen and it will put you in rest mode. When you are ready for your next set you simply tap the screen again and away you go. The rep tracking seems to be a little less accurate than step tracking, but you do have the ability of editing them during your rests. The watch tracks your heart rate during sessions and by the time you're finished you can see an in depth breakdown of your session on the app broken down into average heart rate, calories burned, work time, rest time etc.On a whole for the price this watch has done everything I wanted and more. I don't deny that there are probably more advanced watches out there, but if you don't want to break the bank I would say that this would be a perfect place to start. Although I was already pretty active, it highlighted to me the lack of steps that I was doing during the day and has encouraged me to get out more. All in all the Vivomove gets a big thumbs up from me. The only negative (and this is being really picky) is that the screen can sometimes be a little unresponsive on taps. This is not all of the time though and it is a very picky gripe.

Wanted a hybrid watch and this was one of a number I considered. Garmin does seem to be pretty reliable in smart watches, although I didn't want the bigger fenix style versions - too in your face. This watch doesn't look overly big or sit way proud of your wrist. It's comfortable to wear, although I don't like wearing watches in bed (I did try this once and it tracked my very bad sleep, but I'm not making a habit of it). I can see the time no problem, the hour hand is not as obvious, but isn't invisible - you normally have a good idea of what hour it is anyway and its the minute hand you look at mostly, which is very easy to see. I use it for step counting and it compares very favourably with a phone app which I used as a benchmark.I also have used it for cycling (both recorded and auto-detected). I normally record whilst walking the dog and is useful if I want to hit my step goal (roughly 100 steps per min, so I can gauge how long I need to walk). A friend has a new fenix, and although it shows him more data, he probably doesn't use much more than I can get out of the vivomove. Connects to mobile app pretty consistently, battery life prob around 5-6 days (I normally recharge around 10%). Recharges pretty quick in an hour or so. All-in-all I'm well pleased (might get a leather strap sometime, although the silicone strap is v-comfortable). Looked at the fossil and Nokia hybrids, which also look pretty smart, but I think I made the right choice. If garmin could allow link with gps on phone it would be the icing on the cake.

I've been using a Fitbit for almost two years but its battery is dying now so I decided to buy a new smart watch. I always preferred an analogue watch so after searching for the ideal watch I decided to go for this one. What I like:- its design- you can change the strap (although not as easy as on Fitbit)- not obvious it's a smart watch- app is great, you can have challenges with other friends who have also have a Garmin watch- with this particular order I had the option to pay monthly instead of paying it off in one amount which was greatWhat could be better or I'm not keen on:- it could be a tiny bit smaller. I love it but if it was a bit smaller it would be even better.- changing the strap is a tiny bit fiddly, once you get used to it I'm sure it's fine- in bright daylight the step counter is not very strongly visible- I wish the one with the gold top would be gold everywhere and not just the one which is more expensive. I bought black strap for it but it doesn't look great as the watch is gold on the top only and otherwise white. Looks great with the white strap.Interesting feature is that when you check your steps, calories, etc, the analogue clock moves to 10 o'clock so you can see clearly the information then it moves back. All in all I'm happy with the purchase and once I got used to its size it'll be a great comfortable but also elegant wear.

Update: the issues with the software have now been resolved and I have finally managed to connect the watch to my phone. It works a treat. I love this watch and it's perfect for me. For the really sporty ones, I would probably recommend to buy the Vivoactive watch instead of this one, but for people like me that is sporty but not too much, and like having a stylish watch this is perfect.Initial review:The jury is still out: there is a problem between this watch's software and Android 7.0 at the moment for which I haven't been able to connect the watch to my phone yet. Garmin is aware of it and working on it, finger crossed it won't take long. The watch itself is great: very light, looks really smart and feminine, and it's perfect for me that I play sports twice/three times a week, but I don't run or cycle or do any other sports like that when you need the Fenix or Forerunner types of watch. I prefer to have a watch where I can always see the time and I prefer the analogue look with the added benefit of the digital information available on when you want it.I'm looking forward to being able to fully use this watch once I can connect it to my phone. At the moment I have it synced via computer, which is ok as I still get all the fitness tracker info, but not getting the phone alerts on the watch.

I love everything about my Vivomove HR, (well, except the name), because it's absolutely brilliant. Battery life and Bluetooth connection range are very impressive. The user-friendly interface is very intuitive and it seemlessly re-connects, automatically synching if you forget your phone and walk away. I've knocked it as I go past doors a few times and the strap hasn't broke and I can't see any stratches, (yet!).I have to admit it didn't seem to feel as robust as my last all metal Suunto watch, but I've been pleasantly surprised. It's been on almost all time and I sometimes put it through very harsh conditions. This watch is not there to rule my life, and some may class this as just a gimmick, but if you're reading this or any reviews on this and other devices, then you are probably not in that camp!Everything I've tried seems to work well, and heart rate is very accurate. My only only criticism would be the 'MOVE IQ' system which isn't always spot on. However, I've used a number of alternative tracking devices and none of them are particularly good at mind reading. These monitors are even better if you start and stop workouts as you please. I'm more than happy though. If it broke, or I lost I'd buy another almost immediately.

This watch took forever to get it to sync with my phone, I nearly sent it back for a refund, but I thought one last time after swearing at it over a few days, "yes days" and then it did finally decide to work. The heart beat monitor is accurate, I can check that with another bit of kit I have, but the distance monitor I'm not to sure of, I think it under reads distance walked.Sometimes it reads going down more stairs than going up, in the same house, how does that work. The alarm is good for wakeing you up , but it just keeps on repeating every 10 mins for ever after. And you can not see the read out in any form of sunlight unless you shield it complety and squint at it.I was really thinking of sending it back, but, nah........I'm just going to learn to live with it over time and see if it gets any better as I get more used to useing it.Don't think its worth the money I paid, would not really recommend buying unless it was around £80 ish.Cheaper watches may be just as good.Do you really want to know how much REM sleep you've had, would it make you feel any better for knowing..?

I've had my watch for a week now & this is what I think : Its a really nice watch, but you need to order a new strap at the same time you order the watch as the one that comes with it makes it look like a " Lucky bag " watch like you used to get in the 60s. The watch itself works really well & once you get used to the app on your tablet its easy enough to use although my wife's Fitbit app seems more user friendly. What I don't understand about the watch is this : People have been wearing watches since the 16th Century yet here we have a watch that's full of technology & all the latest tricks yet the most simple thing they needed to do was put 2 hands on so you can tell the time & you cant see one of them !. If you read reviews on here & on YouTube about the watch the invisible hand is the most complained about thing on the watch, surely the people at " Garmin " must read them but have decided to ignore the problem which I find a bit strange. So to sum it up its a great watch but buy a new strap & be prepared for the dodgy finger.

I bought this with £55 off and so feel it was really good value. This is my 3rd Garmin and I am really pleased with how well they work (I only replaced my vivosmart 3 because the strap tore and it doesn’t have an option to replace the strap). This item arrived promptly, I love the pale blue strap and silver face, it was incredibly simple to set up - the app detected it as soon as I plugged it in to charge and did the set up straight away. The most time consuming part was trying to remember how to change my goals, from Fahrenheit to Celsius etc but that didn’t take long and syncing it even updated my steps for today from my previous garmin! So far I am delighted and am expecting to be really happy with this item.As an aside Garmin customer service has been brilliant (replaced my old charger when it failed after 6 months and the watch loop when it tore after 1 year), this is one of the key reasons why I chose a Garmin again this time....the other reason being I understand the app and love the info it gives me!!

I've been wearing this watch for over two months now and I love it. The way the pointers show time normally, then move aside for the digital information is brilliant, and rose gold on the black face is easily visible.Another recent review mentioned a difficulty linking it to a Huawei phone, but I have an Honor phone (made by Huawei) and it linked instantly. The app works very well, and does not drain my phones' battery, despite the occasional message telling me it is!My only disappointment is the irregular counting of stairs! Some days the watch counts (almost) every time I go upstairs and down, sometimes only a couple, and the times it counts the downwards steps only are a puzzle.I must have floated upstairs! A strange quirk that I can live with!I'd have preferred the battery to last a full week, but on the whole this watch tells me all I need to know about my exercise, heart rate, incoming calls and texts, so I don't miss them, and a lot more. It also looks very good into the bargain.

I’ve had this watch since Christmas. I use it as an everyday watch rather than a sports tracker.I have a Garmin forerunner 735xt which I’ve been using for over a year to track sports but it isn’t very pretty for wearing with a suit for work. Hence - purchasing this one as an everyday watch to keep tracking my steps.I find the watch hand frequently go out of sync so I have to restore them. Only it’s really hard to get back out of the screen and drives me barmy!Over all, I think the step tracking is pretty accurate. I love the stress score. This was new to me as my other device didn’t track it.Overall, as an addition to other Garmin devices - it’s perfect.I’d recommend to people who either only want to track steps or light activity - or like me - have another device to track more serious work out info. The Garmin app is pretty good. I can have both my devices connected to the app, when I’ve synced, both of them show the total steps combined. Just what I wanted

I have this watch just over a week now and I really love it. I have small wrists and thought the watch face might look too big but it’s perfect. I had bought a cheaper brand but it was frustrating waiting for the clock to appear. That’s why I love this watch so much. The watch is always showing. No messing about. I bought it primarily as a watch but the apps work really well on it. Alarm now vibrates on my wrist waking only me. The last watch I had only gave 2 days on a full charge. This garmin has only been charged once for an hour while having dinner in the 7 or 8 days and the battery was not totally out of charge. It’s very comfortable to wear and very light you hardly know you’re wearing it.Accessing the apps is simple. The screen is on the bottom half of the watch face and works well with tapping and swiping. So far I really like it and would definitely recommend it. My wife likes the part where the watch tells me to MOVE when I’m sitting for too long.

Bought this watch as a Christmas present for my Wife and she loves it.The watch is stylish and while big enough to read easily it is not too cumbersome or bulky looking. The watch combines the look of a normal watch with the functions of a fitness tracker so you can keep track of you steps, heart rate, sleep etc without looking like you are wearing a fitness tracker band. While it doesnt have all the functions of a full smart watch it has everything her Fitbit HR2 had with more traditional watch looks. The only thing we can say against the watch as such are that the battery life is a bit low (about 2 days) but that could be due to the novelty of a new watch meaning you play about with it a lot more than you normally would. One last point,My wife is allergic to the silicon in the strap it seems so while this is not an issue with the watch it may well be worth making sure whoever is getting the watch is ok with this or purchase a replacement strap.

I was thinking for days if I should really buy this watch or not. It was love at first sight without question. However, after I read all the reviews full of with negative experiences, I really had to think about it how much I want it.. Then I thought if it is really not working as it should, I can still return it. I have it for 4 days now. At the beginning the notification part did not worked so I contacted Garmin customer service and I have to tell You they are quick and helpful. I was ready to send my watch to them but then I found the problem. The watch was working perfectly fine but there was one hidden bit ON MY PHONE what I had to turn on to be able to receive notifications on the watch. So peoplr, always make sure you checked everything on your phone.. ;) (huawei mate 10 Pro) I am fully in love with this watch and so glad that I was not listening to the negative comments. And it looks even more beautiful in live than on the pics :)
