I bought this to use with a WiFi-only iPad on which I am running Navionics for boat navigation. I recently sailed from Miami to Gulfport, MS both across parts of the Gulf and the ICW. This unit paired seamlessly with the iPad and was accurate enough for my use. I mounted it at my helm with some doublesided Velcro and even under the bimini I had no reception issues. It isn’t waterproof or maybe even water resistant so I need to rig up some sort of waterproof case for it that won’t reduce reception. Otherwise no issues. Battery life was pretty good - sometimes 12 hours. Usually 8-10. But there is no real battery meter so I would just charge it up with a battery pack while still using it when thelow battery light started to flash. This plus a WiFi iPad made for a good primary nav setup for my 34’ sailboat. That said I also bought an android tablet as my backup, which comes with built in GPS, and it worked great too (see my other reviews). I’m partial to the build quality of Apple products and for something I was literally trusting the existential safety of myself and my boat with I used the apple + garmin combo and can recommend it. That said, you can buy three android tablets for the price of one apple+garmin and have redundancies. But I digress. This Garmin is a good product.

My iPad doesn't have inbuilt GPS, so when I added the OS mapping service, OutDoorsGPS to see what I was flying over, which is also brilliant by the way, I needed to get a separate GPS unit. After searching the pilot's sites, I found this one. So lucky, not only does it do what it says on the tin, but it is also trouble free, very easy to run (switch it on and get your iPad on Bluetooth and that's it). The iPad picked it up even before I had opened the app and immediately got a fix, good battery life, although it is early days yet, works fine in the cockpit and in a wood if you go walking. Very easy to use in the field, swap pages and press record. You then get a complete log, stats and all,of exactly where you have been so you can do it all again, save the file to the web and send the GPX file to friends for their GPS.Accuracy in with a clear view of the sky is about 3m, in a wood about 5 to 10m depending on the thickness of the canopy. It is brilliant for tracking your flight and seeing where you have been, although the accuracy is not so good, but of course, it is designed for ground use so you expect that.I would recommend it for OutDoorGPS as the maps are standard OS so they too are very accurate. All in all, a brilliant purchase.

Immediately, easily connected to old ipad (4th gen 32bit wifi only). Navionics app picked up the gps signal and immediately showed yacht location on the chart in the exact, correct berth - so seems accurate to a few metres which is more than enough. (Mind you, so did my Galaxy S8 using Imray chart - good to have confirmation/a back up).Spent two days delivering yacht. Worked like a dream the whole time. Only slight reservation is that you don't know how much charge is left. So put it on charge a couple of times for probably an hour or so, just in case. Didn't run out either day (12 hours and 6 hours). Now I trust it,I would probably just turn it on when needed and DR nav knowing I had backup...

Super easy to connect (via bluetooth) to my iOS devices (iPad & iPhone).I use this Garmin device in conjunction with the Jeppesen Pro app running on an iPad and it works perfectly with it, providing highly accurate position and speed information (flying in a Boeing) during all phases, e.g. from being parked on the ramp, taxiing, takeoff, SID tracking, en-route, STAR tracking, approach & landing (and taxi to park thereafter).Seemingly the only negative I've found is that it evidently doesn't connect with my Apple MacBook Pro about which Garmin admit as much (the following statement is from their product Support page) "Mac OS X - The GLO series is not compatible with Mac OS X".

I used this GPS receiver on a four-day Chesapeake Bay sailing trip with an older wifi-only iPad and Aqua Map. Worked flawlessly. The boat had its own nav system but the iPad is much easier to use (and hand around) and the Aqua Map charts had more detail than the boat's expensive built-in plotter. No issues over two-day stretch where I decided not to recharge either iPad or GPS receiver. Just shut both of them down periodically when I didn't need them. Would use the iPad to plot out the day's course over morning coffee, and then manually transferred the route to plotter for redundancy and peace of mind. Well worth the $90+. Aqua Map about $15/year for US charts.

Very easy to use just connect via Bluetooth open mapping and will show your location to within 2 to 5 metres depending on number of satellites available. Rechargeable from usb charger , lasts for about 16 hrs. The communication rate is higher than the gps installed on phones and iPads . You will be able to see your movement even at walking pace and in a vehicle you can see smooth movement as you travel. Great piece of equipment which i use with my iPad that does not have built in gps. Also use with my iPhone which has its own gps but this gives more accurate location. The unit is very small and light and cave placed on dashboard or in pocket if walking.

Wow, what a great product. I had been looking at a GPS for hiking and didnt want to spend £400+. My iPhone works well with Ordnance Survey and Gaia, but wanted better accuracy. This thing can pick up multiple satellites and duel systems. Picks up really quickly. My iPhone now works well. Tested in the Lake District in July on 5 different mountains. Tested accuracy and various points and have to say this was probably within 1-2 meters. We had two poor days and this kept us on the track. If you dont need the ruggedness of a GPS handheld, use this with your phone. Not to be relied on solely, but nice to see where you are when you cannot see that far

I bought this for my daughter to play Pokémon Go on her iPad. I still have to connect her iPad to my hotspot for the data portion but this gets location services running fairly well. Occasionally there is a little GPS drift, but it’s a huge improvement. Device stays connected as long as you don’t turn it off, after powering on you need to reconnect in your Bluetooth settings. Would be awesome if it automatically connected. Supports up to 4 devices at once which is awesome. Battery life is good, I’d leave it plugged in and on always if it didn’t occasionally make high-pitch but mostly unnoticeable frequency sounds.

The latest iPhones suffer from very poor GPS accuracy compared to older models, so my biking tracks on Strava were almost unusable. This little device fits in a pocket or the top of a rucksack and gives perfect accuracy when connected to my phone - you can travel in a circle just a few feet across and it will record the track perfectly. No more lost signals! Battery life seems pretty good, enough for a full day's activity but probably no more. I have found on one occasion my phone said it was connected to the Garmin but was still using its own internal GPS. A restart of the phone solved that and no more problems.

Pairs seamlessly with iOS devices. Pairs OK with android using a 3rd party bluetooth app - a little cumbersome but works fine. Seems very accurate and saves a lot of battery life on my cell phone when driving with navigation. GPS natively chews through a battery pretty quick so the GLO 2 offsets the work from the phone. Used this for cell phone tethered car navigation (Google Maps) and for more accurate Geocaching while hiking.Annoying feature that the device can't charge unless its turned on. Also older mini-USB connection. It does have nice battery life though.

Easy to use. Just with a Press of button then you were all set! Accuracy up to 5 meters is well good enough for my Air Nav Pro as well as other GPS required fitness or navigation apps. Bettery life span of 13 hours, compact and lightweight makes it wonderful to be used during any activities including flying!Able to received over 24 setellites (GPS/GLONASS) and up to 10 times position update per second enables it to be stunningly accurate for a device like this. Worth buyung, good product to have. Recommended!

I have not yet tested the Garmin GLO 2 GPS Receiver in a forest area with lots of trees but I have been using it in the deserts of Arizona where there's been very poor cellular signal on my iPhone in the past where Maps couldn't figure out where I was.... so, I am happy to report how happy I am to combine this GPS Receiver with GaiaGPS app. It's a perfect pair for planning routes or simply recording where your outdoor adventures have taken you.

So far so good. Just pair and go with my Apple iPad mini 4...fixed the problem of the iPads failing internal GPS. (Without the Glo it can no longer get its own fix).Works perfectly with the Glo though.Warning: If you are considering this item to augment an Android device...check that your device manufacturer has not rendered the Developer options inaccessible. If you cant reach the Mock GPS Location option, your device wont use the Glo.

I have only used the Garmin unit a few times, but it established its position fairly quickly and there was a world of difference in the steadiness of the covered track when I compared the line in the Navionics App. on the iPad, to the one on generated from the internal GPS on the phone. I see this as a real safety benefit when anchoring, as I can see more clearly how the boat is behaving and whether the anchor might be dragging.

I'm using the Glo with the Navionics app on an I-pad for marine navigation. The bluetooth connection was fast and robust. The position accuracy is so good it shows which side of the dock you are moored. I've used Garmin GPS products since they started making them. This is the fastest and most accurate receiver I've seen. It is worth every penny! BTW get the silicone rubber cover/base - very practical on moving surfaces
