I've now had the Garmin Fenix 5s plus for a couple of weeks and love this watch. Yes, it's expensive and appears fairly complicated at first and as my last watch was the Vivoactive I did initially miss the touch screen, but slowly but surely, and after watching a couple of YouTube tutorials I am now beginning to get my head round all of the functions and i've just added music on the watch which is surprisingly easy to do. One thing I need to point out though is you will need your computer whether that be to update the maps or load your music which is a bit of a bind as it wasn't particularly necessary to have one with the Vivoactive. However, the Fenix 5s plus is a serious bit of kit,it does everything you want and more and now I actually prefer that there are buttons rather than touchscreen. It looks great, feels good to wear as a day and sport watch, I'm now eager to start using the maps! Highly recommend for those wanting to step up from the basics, only down side is the cost as it really is expensive and hard to justify if you're not interested in all the stats, music on the watch or using the maps but for me it's my guilty pleasure and well worth it.

Awesome watch. Garmin insist some operations such as map updates firmware update can only be done on a Microsoft Windows computer or a Mac. If like me you use Android, Linux and ChromeOs beware it is impossible to install their software. There is an Android app and a website that work very well, but they miss some functionality to control the watch across a USB cable. However,Well I've had my Garmin Fenix 5s plus for 4 days now. It's utterly awesome. I can't fault it, it does every thing I could imagine and then some. For example I have wikillocs, one of my all time favorite hiking trail finders, so I checked out the trails in corfu, and down loaded them directly into my watch....It has all of Europe maps put installed on it. The transflective always on display actually gets easier to read in extreme sunlight. The user interface is entirely driven by buttons, not touch screen. The UI is awesome, the Android app is awesome, and on the web site I can export directly to Google Earth, gpx you name it. Wow.

Following heart surgery, I knew that I would have to get active on a much more serious scale in order to prevent further problems later in life. After asking friends and looking around, I discovered the Garmin range. I've been on Fitbit before, which are excellent, but the thing that swung it for me was the stress recording. And I need to keep stress to a minimum now!Built in GPS means I don't have to have the phone with me to track my route accurately, which will matter when I start doing more serious running as I recover. The mapping/SatNav function is also neat, but not really needed by me yet.The phone is deep with features. I still find new tricks and ideas, a month on.It's not nearly so user friendly as a Fitbit, however, so do expect to be learning and working out how to use things for a week or two at least. But if you're a data geek who wants to know everything about your runs and your workouts, it's brilliant.

A great watch which gives you an excellent general idea of where you are in overall fitness terms. Do not expect perfection over readings. My watch gives strange sleep readings which cannot be accurate. However the GPS is brilliant and it tracks my walks and runs very well indeed. I know the distance covered. I know the pace per mile. It even tells me about my run cadence. I find the heart readings very useful. It's good to see that aerobic and anaerobic heart levels are recorded; helps keep fitness/training levels at what is best for you as an individual. I download my watch to Garmin Connect every day and can see all the details. You can download to you smart phone or computer.I am so pleased I bought this watch.I love it.

Absolutely great and have also now bought a metal strap and it looks awesome with the Breitling face downloaded. Couldn’t be happier.Only “Even better if” would be if it came with a metal and rubber strap and a watch face protector plus charging port cover. Notifies me of calls, but at present not text messages (not sure if that’s me though) also would be good with a preloaded 5’aside workout or gym workout. Love the fitness tracking app view and golf app works is superb a plus very accurate. I had a Tag Heurer Connected and that was terrible - this is a quarter of the price and so much better.

Having had an Edge 1000 I can say this is a great product. What you lose in visibility is more than made up for in convenience and battery life, not to mention that it is almost always with you. The sync with the Connect app is great and the app itself integrates really nicely with many other things like TrainerRoad & Strava. The only real downside is the HRM is either spot on or, really under reporting. I cannot work out what difference there is between when it is almost identical to a chest strap to when it is about 30bpm underneath! About 60% of the time it is pertfect!

It’s not the newest Garmin but this watch is amazing for me !It has GPS so if you get lost it takes you back the way you came. Also if you want to go for a run but don’t know where you can set a distance you want to run / cycle and it shows you few rotes you can go on a map.It has a comus as well. And you can also pay off the watch as well some banks haven’t got it set up for Garmin watches but tbh it doesn’t matter to me as everything works amazing and a fantastic battery life! Also it has loads of multi - sport activities as well.Definitely recommend this watch!

Quite a lot functions which I could not figure them out completely so far. But it does help my running speed and stamina. Multiple training plans make the lock down less boring. Little bit expensive and garmin pay is not compatible to most of banks, like Lloyd’s, NatWest, Monzo, nationwide. And only Spotify premium account can use the music function, Apple Music is not allowed!!

Great watch, however I am having problems with the gps tracking on Open Water Swimming. This is a known problem for which Garmin is working on a fix. If you get this watch test it out properly before your 28 days are up if you use it for OWS! Also the battery life isn’t good for lengthly activities; there are tips for improving it online, but on a 30k walk mine ran out?

Great activity watch, has greatly enhanced the way I exercise.Ability to use Spotify offline playlists directly from the watch means I don't have to carry my phone around in the gym.Have had to turn off some of the default feature to save battery life, now getting around 5-6 days per full charge with 2x 30min runs and 3x 1hr gym sessions.

Garmin are renowned for their watches and this one doesn't disappoint. I moved up to the Fenix from a Forerunner and it's a fantastic piece of kit. Maps are brilliant to follow for running anf hiking, and.. it works really well as a smart watch

I’ve had this watch for around 6-months now and I absolutely love it!Clear screen, easy to use and fairly accurate. I was very much a traditional watch person and was nervous about making the switch however, I’ve not looked back!

Great watch and love it.Battery lasts ages approx a week maybe longer if your not doing activities.Does miss a few activities during sleep, but I do move a lot so maybe me.Well worth considering.

Excellent bit of kit with so many applications across a variety of sporting options. Looks good and if there is an issue is trying to find out how all the functions work it just takes time

Fantastic watch if a bit expensive. I am very pleased with its operation. I have found that charging it for a short time in the evening and morning is enough to keep it fully charged.
