Quality blue plastic base with strong hinged lid, robust spring mechanism inside under the floor.Soft padded sides with vibrant cotton fabric; spotty blue background with frogs, butterflies, fishes and bees printed all over. The base sits within this and can be lifted out. The lid is completely encased with a fabric green lilly pad and large open white lilly flower. The petals are filled with a very soft filling on the under sides and 'crinkly sounding' fabric on the upper surfaces. Beautifully tactile and noisy too! This cover is kept in place by velcro. Both covers machine washable 30, hand or wool cycle. One soft, machine washable frog supplied with embroidered eyes and mouth, floppy arms and legs.Soft squashy body with a rattle inside.Set up ~ The lid needs to be opened right out until a click is heard/resistance felt and pushed past. The floor is then pushed down and the frog popped inside. Close the lid... open right out to trigger the click/ mechanism sending the frog flying into the air.My little one had this at about 1yr. Help and practice opening the lid enough to trigger the floor to come up and pushing the base down, took many goes. Nervous apprehension caused cautious opening of the lid a little way initially. Once the frog shot out and upwards squeals of delight and, "again!!" would be heard. This has been enjoyed for some years now and continues to be. We feel this version gives much more pleasure than the conventional 'Jack in a Box' design where the toy remains attached to the box. There is just as much excitement looking for and chasing after the frog as the anticipation waiting and surprise when he shoots across the room. Other small soft toys have been hurtled upwards too, sometimes several tiny ones at once. This has given a lot of pleasure to both adults and children of all ages. We also try catching the frog... quite a challenge!Well made design simplicity with both child and practicality catered for. A brilliant purchase, no batteries required either!

I was looking at a traditional jack in the box but I find they can be quite creepy for very young children,This was a fun alternative and it was a fantastic price from the Warehouse section.Arrived in great condition, the box was a bit dented but that gets thrown away. The product is soft and colourful on the outside and the frog is really cute.Push him down inside until you hear a click, then close the lid.You need to open the lid quite far before he jumps out and whilst he won’t fly high into the air he’ll easily clear the box.A small child might have difficulty pushing the mechanism down but most toddlers will get the hang of it quite quickly.I’ve put a video to show,it’s not the greatest as the box was on my settee, the frog flies out much better if it’s on a level surface or tilted slightly forward.Enough of a surprise to delight kids without scaring them. Prepare for lots of giggles when you demonstrate this for the first time.It was excellent value at the price I got it for and I’d definitely recommend looking through the products in the warehouse section.Hope you found my review helpful

I bought this for my daughter when she was a year old, and it's been extremely well used throughout that time. The internal part of the toy is plastic, which is covered by well padded fabric, and the lillypad (which makes a crinkly sound if you touch it) is easily removed to be messed around with by the kids or easily cleaned. The spring load is easy to do and many youngsters will be able to do it themselves. The frog is also perfect to give to any age child, so it doesn't matter if the youngest borrows it for a bit of a chew (the flippers do tend to get a bit soggy!) or someone manages to get the frog in the face. The spring is also not strong enough for some enterprising older kids to use it as a catapult for sneaky traps with heavier objects, although won't break if they try - or at least it didn't when some of my daughter's cousins attempted it! The frog captivates its audience, whether they happen to have set it off or not, and seems to be a hit with a wide range of people - including adults. Highly recommend

We gave this to my niece, she is 18 months old. She loves it! I was surprised at the mechanism - as others have said, it seems delicate and I'm not sure how robust it will be, surprising for Galt as their toys normally last for ever. Time will tell. 4 adults had problems with the mechanism, we found it very difficult to click down into place but I have to say, the baby had no problem at all! She fired the frog off in all directions and as we also bought her the Galt pop-up people, she fires them out of it too! The force is not strong enough to hurt, even if she gets a frog in the face, she just laughs. It pops up about a foot into the air. But the best bit about this frog, is the laughter it brings, for the child and the adults around them. Such a lovely present, I just wonder how long it will last.

Very nicely made, not cheap feeling or looking. It's nice and soft, so no clattering about when baby picks up and drops on the floor. The pop up mechanism is just strong enough - not so gentle that it's boring, but not full force so it projects too far. The only thing is, it's a bit difficult for little ones to use themselves - you have to push the little chamber the frog sits in really quite far down until it 'clicks' to activate the mechanism. I think in most cases this means adults will have to do it for the little ones - my wee one can put the frog in, but struggles with pushing it down. Incidentally, you don't just have to use the frog. I sometimes put little soft balls and things in it too,it works just as well. Would recommend, my month old enjoys it.

Nice safe soft box. Had this for months and daughter has not trapped any fingers in anything or damaged it at all.Nice that the frog is also a squeaky toy that you can take out. You can also switch things up and put other toys in the box as a surprise.Teaches baby processes: push down lever, put frog in, close lid and open. She learnt how to do this by the time she was 12 months. Although she does find it difficult to open it the right way to pop the frog up.Also teaches object permanence - that the frog will reappear even when you can't see it.Only thing I'd say is don't point it right in the face of a very small baby!!

I gave a 'Frog in a Box' to each of our youngest grandchildren (two families, babies 2mths apart in age!) they simply loved them! Only four stars because when the base is pushed down to reset the pop up spring, they sometimes take a couple of go's to reset. This slight problem doesn't detract from the delight of the little soft green frog leaping from his box when the lid is lifted. Mind you, one of our little ones (16mth old girl) deftly manages to lift the lid and take the frog out without the spring launching the frog!!The frog's box is soft and the lid is crackly to touch so a delight for little fingers to explore.

This is a lovely toy and I bought it for my 8 month old as I thought he would enjoy the fun element of the frog jumping out of the box. Sometimes however the bit which holds the frog down is hard to engage so it takes a while to set it up- I think maybe we have been sent a faulty one (I have used these toys before whilst working as a play worker and never had this issue)- as I purchased my Xmas pressies very early (October) the date for returning goods has now passed so I am stuck with the dodgy one sadly. If you get a good one they are fun for everyone though, the frog springs out really far which entertains everyone!

Good quality, but a lot bigger than expected. The frog jumping was a bit disappointing.NOTE:: took the time to come back to this review and change from 4 to 5 Stars. My grandson is that bit older (now 14 months) and plays with it all the time. He loves pushing the inside down himself and it is a very safe toy. I now see why the frog jump was disappointing to me, it is safety. He is inclined to try other things in it, but they are not dangerous when they come out. It is also very robust as it get used a lot and is still working well. His little friends love it too.

My son has special needs and this toy is really good at getting him to make eye contact and use sign language because i won't let the frog jump unless he initiates it. He absolutely loves the jumping frog. It jumps right out of the box so my son also now points where he wants the frog to jump. The cover is all washable which is great haven't washed it yet but because of this the lily pad on the top keeps sliding off, the velcro needed to be longer other than that its a great product my son even puts some of his other small teddies in for a fly.

This is a favourite to in our household. My youngest daughter was scared of it at first but now loved the anticipation of the frog jumping out. The frog can be played with separately too, with a rattle and squeaker in it. The box can also be used separately too. My nephews enjoyed firing dirty nappies bundles at each other with it... Only 1 star gone as can sometimes not reset very well and only a small imagination can be used to fire random solid objects e.g. wooden blocks...

my son his special needs and a lady from portage fetched this to him earlier this week and he loved it that much i just had to get one ,as my son has global development delay this his great for him hiding the frog and my son opening it for the frog to jump out this his a milestone for him but hes worked it out and this makes us feel this product is fabulous he`s even realized that if you dont open the lid fully he can get the frog without it jumping out great5 stars all round

My one year old daughter absolutely loves this gift. It's her favourite present and it has kept her laughing for hours on end. I would use it with adult supervision to ensure the mechanism inside doesn't get broken, as she can get quite rough with her toys when excited. To make sure the frog goes down inside each time, make sure the lid is pushed back until it clicks and then it works every time. A brilliant gift I would really recommend! The frog really jumps out at you!

I bought this for my 18 month old. She's quite fond of frogs, so I'd hoped this would go down a treat. It seems well made, nice and sturdy, but doesn't require too much pressure insofar that a small child is able to fully push the frog into the box, and be able to pull open the lid and achieve the pop-up / jack in the box effect. The novelty does wear off quickly, but then there's still the benefit of the frog being a cuddly toy and being played with separately.

Great toy! Simple but very effective. My toddler was first bought one for her first birthday and due to it's success, I have since bought it for friends' toddler's birthdays. My toddler giggles with delight when the frog jumps out. However she also loves the game of trying to get the frog out of the box without the jump mechanism going off. She really wants to be able to push the spring loaded part herself however she isn't quite strong/dexterous enough yet.
