The tl:dr version: It is great. Fun, safe, educational (animals, colours, counting) and just generally pretty snazzy. A game of skittles in case you'd not worked that out.The unedited ramblings of a man on too much pain medication version:A skittle loving granddad supplied this when our daughter was about 1 year old and she took to it immediately to the extent that it has informed the first thing she ever wants to talk to him about on the phone. The purpose of it was, admittedly, lost on her to begin with despite numerous micro-gain performance tutorials which she sat through with due decorum and focus but she was more intent on naming the animals and colours and throwing the ball in any direction but at the intended target (the ball is very soft and,if memory serves - memory is having to serve as I think it is lodged under the sofa so can't check this next alleged fact - jingly (good strong word there) and totally safe for the prolonged and indoor slightly manic throwing mechanics of a 1 year old doing a Phil Tufnell impression*. Your breakables are safe. Unless you've got a kid with a killer right arm in which case if they can do any damage with the ball at this age you're going to make a fortune out of them in the underground baby arm wrestling scene so a little breakage here and there could be thought of as an investment. Or training). However, I am rambling. Back to reviewing and stop digressing**.It has provided endless hours of joy, beaming grins, running round with (insert animal here) and a breathless 'Daddy look (colour) (animal)' and then the laughter of a potential serial killer as the cute animal is lined up and, now she's got better at hand-eye co-ordination and grasped the basics of the game, summarily despatched with a contemptuous flick of the wrist. And then sucked. Which is also safe too. The skittles have been drenched in saliva and are looking damn near mint still, despite this and her near-vampiric set of gnashers.Skittles are suitably sturdy, easy to put up, easy to knock down, no annoying balance issues or stupidly over-sensitive reactions to people having the audacity to walk near them causing them to collapse like a butterfly who has decided that they wish to disrupt your skittling (possibly another great word) instead of using the flapping of wings to kill future dictators' parents. All working just as it should.Buy it.* If Tuffer's legal team are reading, this could be construed as a compliment in some cultures. Cultures unaware of the sacred art of fielding.** "Actually I dye cress quite a lot. There's no real reason for it other than to expedite weak puns." Victor Lewis Smith

We purchased these skittles for my son when he was about a year old. The skittles are delightful with lovely bright colours and smiley animal faces, each numbered 1 to 6. They also rattle, as does the soft ball provided with them.My son has limited mobility and these were a great fun toy as he could sit on the floor at one end of the hall and use it as a bowling alley to knock them down at the other end - which he did for hours at a time (and we had a few turns too of course). As the ball is soft it is very safe and 'inside-friendly'.The skittles are great to build hand-eye co-ordination and can be used for counting and number recognition. My son is now nearly five and still plays with them from time to time. They have proved very durable and we have been careful to keep them in the the plastic cover, which helps to keep them clean. For the price these have been one of the best toy purchases we have made.

We bought these skittles for our daughter's first birthday and we're really pleased with them. The skittles and ball are lovely and soft, so perfect for playing with indoors. Would be suitable for younger children as no moving parts or small pieces for them to choke on, though chances of them playing with them as intended are slim. We've only played with them a couple of times so far and my daughter hasn't quite grasped the concept of rolling the ball to knock over the skittles, instead preferring to crawl to the skittles and knock them down by hand (perhaps not so daft?!). She also enjoys shaking them as the skittles contain beads and the ball has a jingle bell inside which make a nice soft rattling/jingling noise.I think she should have fun with these for a long time to come. Would thoroughly recommend.

Excellent value for money. Gorgeous brightly coloured set of lovely smiley-faced animals with large printed numbers 1-6 on front. The fact that all the skittles rattle and the ball also jingles is a huge appeal to tiny peeps. My 7 month old loves them, though doesn't quite get the idea of knocking them over with the ball yet! At the moment he just likes to hold them, bang them on the floor and push them over with his hands. The skittles stand up well on carpet as well as hard flooring, and most importantly, they are machine washable. I know these are going to bring endless hours of fun in our house and will also prove great for helping to teach number and animal recognition. A great buy!

These were purchased as a gift for my one year old girl, and they have gone down really well with both her and her sister who is 18 months older. The skittles and the ball all jungle as they have a bell in. The skittles are all brightly coloured, and are eye catching and fun to look at. Great for teaching colours. They are also good for teaching numbers, not only through counting the skittles, but they also each have a number on from one through to six. The animals are unusual colours (e.g. The elephant is a shocking pink!), but each skittle is a different animal. They are great fun in use, and they aren't going to damage anything inside as the whole set is soft.Recommended.

A great game for young babies and toddlers! We got these skittles on a lightening deal when our son was only a few months old and he still plays with them now at 2 years old. They are great for babies because they are soft, rattle and are brightly coloured. The numbers encourage early learning and each skittle is a different animal to help introduce names and sounds. As he got older we taught him how to use the ball to knock them over and now he sets them up himself and enjoys playing it with us on rainy days (because they are so soft they are great for indoor play and we have some plastic ones for the garden.)

A lovely soft toy for young children. My little girl enjoyed playing skittles with these from an early age and seemed to like the colourful designs too. Only downside was that when she was ready to start standing them up herself she found it a little tricky as they kept falling over - obviously better on a hard floor but she preferred playing on the carpet and spent more time trying to stand them up than knocking them down. Other visiting children have also enjoyed them, including a little one who just picked out one and used it as a rattle for the whole morning! Would buy again!

I bought these when my son was nine months, and he's consistently played with them and still does now at just past one year old. The six characters are all well made and appealing (to my taste the material they're made from is a little scratchy and artificial but my son doesn't seem bothered). They stand up well and although we've never really used then as skittles, I would stand them up a little distance away to encourage him to crawl - he would race over and spend ages happily shaking /chewing /bashing them together. Highly recommended!

My nephew (15 months) loves these: At the moment he likes playing with the animal characters, and knocking them down and resetting them by hand. Later he can try throwing the ball to knock them down. As others have said these are not full size skittles, nor are they as heavy as might be imagined, but they are fine for a toddler, surprisingly steady even on carpet and soft fabric feel. The light weight inside is pretty well padded by the smooth fabric and foam padding - should be pretty safe even if he starts throwing the skittles!

I bought these for my 12 month old daughter, who still doesn't have enough coordination to bowl properly. However, these are so nice, soft, colourful and cute, I'm sure it's the right way to start. She can play with each piece separately, as each look like a soft animal toy... and a ball will always be a ball. Small enough for her to hold. We have marble floors, so there's no issues with having these standing up.I'm really happy with this purchase!

Bought these for my daughters first birthday. She obviously is a bit too young yet to properly play the skittles game, but she enjoys playing with the figures and ball and of course the bag they come in lol. They are good quality and a very good price. Not sure why someone on here said they are not good quality and couldn't be for a gift, I think they'd be a great gift! It's a lovely colourful toy, any toddler or young child will definately love.

Lovely colourful toy for babies of 12 months through to older pre school children. Little ones can happily play with the soft ball and older toddlers can help set up the skittles. The skittles are soft and slightly weighted at the base so stand up on most surfaces but are unsteady enough to easily knock over with the soft ball. The bag is useful for storage when not in use. Good game that all can join in.

I bought these for my 14 month old grandson. He loves throwing and knocking things over and I saw these. They are really well made and colourful as is the ball that goes with them, and because they're soft there's no danger of them breaking anything. Each animal is clearly identifiable and the bell inside each adds to the fun. Perfect for toddlers discovering throwing and rolling.

I bought these for my 1 year old god daughter. She really likes them. Lovely bright colours and the rattle noise make them fun to play with at a young age. But the numbers on them plus the fact it's a "skittles game" mean that they should be entertaining when they're a bit older.Very light. Which is great if, like me, you're sending them as a gift in the post.

These skittles are well made, colourfule and fun. The colours are bright and bold to engage baby's attention and the skittles and ball rattle and jingle too. Great for developing words for colours, animals and numbers and for developing motor skills as baby tries to knock them all down! They also come in their own storage bag, which is always helpful.
