I ordered this umbrella after all the ones I had bought from the pound shop had failed miserably (surprise surprise...). I finally got to take it out for a spin yesterday and can say that it is very easy to use and very waterproof. It is perhaps not quite as small as I had wanted as it won't easily fit in a pocket (though I can fit it in my inner jacket pocket fairly well), but it is still small and very light and the opening mechanism seems quite clever, although it does not pop open - you have to slide it manually unfortunately.Once open it has a comfortably large span of nearly a meter - just enough to cover me and my wife. The material is very light and I was initially skeptical of whether it would actually keep the rain off but it certainly did - even in some heavy rain.I haven't tried it in strong wind yet and I believe it will be susceptible to blowing inside-out, however the instructions it came with noted that it has a simple mechanism for correcting the umbrella if this happens - just close and open it. The joints seem pretty strong and the materials seem robust, but I've only had it a week so can't really comment on how long it will last - but hopefully longer than a pound shop one!

My M&S umbrela broke in a last storm in London and this time I could not be bothered to go to the shop to get one. Amazon deliveres to my local co-op so I decided to order this one.My requirements were simple: small and light enough to fit to my handbag and strong enough to survive through the weather for min 2 years. For £12 this is an amayzing umbrella. I do not understand peoples rants about the quality. Quality is good and for the price paid is just great. All people wants to spend £10 and get quality of £50 worth item.I cannot remember how much I paid for my previous one but most likely about £8 but I can see a big difference in quality. This one is much stronger being lighter at the same time.People, this is a great product for its price. Do not listen to people who are always complaining.

I've used this during the autumn months this year and so far I'm pleased with it. Very light, very small, you can't feel it in the bag and can even put it in a pocket and won't bother you much. It is a bit on the small side, usually will only cover one person confortably, but two can snuggle together and sort of make it work. :) It has stood up to a few gusts of wind without inverting - I haven't put it through any really strong winds but it's good to know it's not so flimsy as to break at the first sign of trouble. It still is very light and I can't really make myself believe it will hold up well to the test of time, but so far it's done its job so I'll just have to give it 5 stars. If it ever lets me down I'll come back and adjust it.

I've lost 2 of these because I'm a dunce, but keep buying them again. They are incredibly small, easy to fit in a inside or side jacket pocket and even trouser pocket. I used it today in insane winds and it flipped inside-out half a dozen times, but no sign of it breaking whatsoever, so it's very well-built. It doesn't give huge coverage so you can get wet from 'side rain' - it's not like the massive golf umbrellas you see, but that is the trade-off for something unobtrusive and very portable. Definitely recommended if you are looking for a robust, yet very light and easy to carry/store in a bag umbrella.

Light a compact (about the same size and weight as other compact umbrellas). The mechanism to open/raise/lower the umbrella seems quiet good. However, I think the best thing about this umbrella may be the thin fibre glass rods used for the canopy in place of the typical, weaker aluminium struts -- I think these will last longer and be better, but time will tell. It's a fair price, so I'm thinking of buying a second one for the office.Overall, quite happy.

This is great for one reason alone: you can put it in your coat pocket, since it is so compact. Therefore useful if you don't like carrying things, and not sure if it's going to rain. The handle (at the end) came off pretty soon after using...but I realised I preferred that as it's now even more compact! There's the usual mess when you try and re-fold it, but it does pack down reasonably well inspite of the mess.

It was the first time I paid more than a fiver for an umbrella... So I was expecting the most sturdy object ever. That is not the trick used here... it is actually the most flexible umbrella I ever had, which means if the wind really blows, it will flick over but it wont break!! Now that's a much better approach...loving it so far and hoping it will take me longer than one winter!

My second of these (the first one was stolen), very lightwight and small folded, but so sturdy and protective - I can fit it in my inside suit pocket (48 chest) if needed, if not in the bottom of my bag, hardly notice it until I need it. It feel so lightweight and even flimsy, but it really is sturdy in use, in rain and wind and snow - good cover over the body and easy to hold.

The recent windy weather has given me a chance to test this umbrella in vile conditions and it has not let me down. Considering how often you spend a fiver on an umbrella that is wrecked by the first squall, it’s worth spending a little extra for something that is a lot better. My only reservation is the tiny handle, which is difficult to hold and keep steady.

This is my second of this model in about 15yrs- the only reason I've had to buy another is that I unfortunately left my original grey one in a hire car. Its was a fantastic brolly, so lightweight and strong and never turned inside-out once... I hope this replacement is just as good.

It feels flimsy - but no matter how much I try to find fault this is really a good bit of kit. Packable, discrete and as it says on the package ultralite. I thought I'd left it at work when it started to rain, reached into my bag, hand clutched it and whipped it out. My saviour.

After buying cheap umbrellas from Primark and having them break very easily I decided to spend a bit moreto get a better quality umbrella. This is small and compact but I've had it out in the wind and it has not blown inside out. The rain rolls off it and it feels quite strong.

26.9.2013

It is a neat little umbrella which fits into your handbag. It is thus less likely to be lost and justifies the cost. I haven't yet used it in a gale, but if it does blow inside out, I think it can be pushed back again. It also has a neat case to keep it tidy.

After spending a fortune on cheap umbrellas, I decided to treat myself to this. Fits easily into my handbag so I am never caught out in a shower. It is very well made and think it should last quite a while. Used in windy conditions and it coped really well.

Excellent umbrella, one of those ones that water slides off rather than pools and soaks into the material. It does not blow inside out and has survived strong winds. Very compact, small enough to fit in an inside coat jacket and looks classy as well.
