Awesome leash. I love that my dog can have a little bit of freedom while walking. This handle is very comfortable to hold in the hand. We purchased the add-on attachment for the bags, and it fits seamlessly and is not noticeable. It is directly under the handle. We love it. The leash is a thin reflective cord, and the first foot of it is a little bit thicker leash. There is a loop inside this part that you don't see, but if you need to hold the dog, it allows you to use both hands which is useful.I like the extra long leash because if I take him to a park, I can keep him on the leash and he has a lot more freedom to run around. If I want to shorten the leash, I can lock it easily with my thumb in one movement.I don't need two hands to do this. There is a "stop" button, and if I slide my thumb just a little bit further, I can "lock" it in. I have used other retractable leashes in the past, and this is the best one I have ever had. There is also an add-on flashlight that you can buy to stick on the side. I don't have this, but it's flat and round and also fits very seamlessly on the Flexi leash. I like when I am walking I can customize the length depending on the situation. If my dog wants to stop to sniff something, I don't have to stop walking, and he will get his sniff in, and then run to catch up to me if I am getting way ahead of him. If he really wants to sniff something for longer, I stop to let him do this, but it's nice that I don't have to stop ever time he does and I can keep my pace of walking going and often some of his sniffs don't take that long. The he runs up ahead of me and finds something else to sniff. It works out really great. If he is walking next to me at a steady pace, I can make a loose leash, and just lock the cord into place. You do have to be responsible with this type of leash not letting too much cord out at the wrong times. But the flexibility of it is what makes this leash so great!

I've had several Flexi retractable leashes over the years. One non-Flexi broke in less than a week, and after that, I bought only Flexis. A couple were chewed, and a couple had the retractor fail after about 10 years. This one is replacing one with a failing retractor. I prefer the balance on the old Flexi, but I'm adjusting to the new one. The new one has a reflective leash, which is great at night when my dog is sniffing in the bushes. The main reason for a Flexi is the freedom it gives to the dog and handler while walking and not having to adjust a standard leash (easier on my shoulders).10/13/17 - I had to buy a new Flexi because my furry friend chewed through the cord again. The one I bought last year served me well until then, having been drug about a 1/4 mile by my dog, who was being chased by some dogs. Another time, it got jerked out of my hand and survived hitting the pavement. I wish there was a longer strap attached to the hook, as it's not long enough to prevent dogs from reaching past it to chew the cord when they're bored with standing while I talk with someone. Either that, or provide a way into the retractor mechanism, so people can retrieve the cord. Very happy with the Flexi for walking dogs.

Our original Flexi retractable 26 foot leash was purchased in 1994. We used it until our sweet girl crossed the rainbow bridge in 2011. I kept the leash, knowing that we'd eventually be puppy parents again. In the summer of 2015 we adopted a rescue puppy. She was a challenge to train; very rambunctious and exuberant during walks. Although the original Flexi still works perfectly, it took quite a beating in the past year and a half, so we decided to purchase a new retractable leash. We did buy and return 3 other brand's retractable leashes before finding the Flexi classic on Amazon. The other brands were far inferior in quality and features, even though costing about the same. The Flexi new classic 26 ft.retractable we purchased is an updated model, and even better than the original. It still has a cord, instead of the ribbon, and a chew guard which is much needed with our pup. The handle is lighter weight then our original, but the contour grip area is still large enough for my husband's hand and thin enough for me to get a nice tight hold when our pup suddenly sights a rabbit or squirrel. I highly recommend this product.

Much better quality than the similarly priced Chinese competitors. One thing that's great about the Flexi is that most of the leash is made of cord (rope) instead of flat ribbon. The ones with ribbon leashes are a problem because as soon as your dog turns around the leash will start to become twisted, and if you don't un-twist it before it retracts, one of the twists may get sucked into the mechanism and the whole thing will get bound up. Ever had a seatbelt get stuck in your car? Yeah, just like that. But the Flexi has a round cord, not flat. So you never have to worry about it getting stuck in the mechanism. The only thing I wish was that the approximately 18" long section that *IS* ribbon was a bit stronger. Our dog (beagle) is a chewer, and always tries to chew through this part of the leash. The material of the ribbon feels like it could be chewed through fairly easily. I found a solution however... simply rub some hot pepper sauce into the ribbon material and your pup will think twice when he tries to chew through it. Works like a charm!

It's not a bad leash and I do like it for my dog. He is 25 lbs and it allows him to run around a bit when we're out walking. The big button stops him when I press it but sometimes it feels like the internal mechanisms are still holding onto the leash after I release it, requiring a quick pull on the leash to free it. Also, the locking mechanism is getting more difficult to use the more I use the brake as it sometimes requires a bit more force than necessary to lock. It could very well be the cold, though as that will definitely affect how these mechanisms perform their tasks. If Flexi could use some internal design changes, or choose some better plastics inside which will handle the stresses better,it may help with the longevity of the braking system. Still, I would recommend it because it is a good retractable leash. I can use it on my runs with my dog or on longer walks with him at the local parks, going around the hardware store, or when going hiking.

It pains me to have to praise a product made in Germany, but when in comes to retractable leashes, the fact is, Flexi is the best! It will cost you less in the long run, as the cheap brands don't last long and certainly don't work near as well. I even use this model for a 20 pound dog, but unless you're a very responsible & courteous dog walker, I don't recommend the 26 foot model, as it can get you, your dog and other dogs in trouble. You have to pay attention at all times, or your dog could end up in the street and get hit by a car or in a fight with another dog. One negative - there is a rubber ring that floats freely on the cord, and while I was told it serves a purpose by the MFG,it says nothing about it in the instructions and you may think it is defective as I did, thinking it came loose from the opening and I tried to push it back in. Just trying to save you some time, having to contact them yourself about the issue.

This retractable leash is amazing!! It is smooth as silk and provides the perfect amount of traction. The clasp is sturdy but light. No more having to wind the leash around my hand so the leash doesn't touch the ground or get tangled around my pups legs. I got the small size and it fits my hand nicely. I am an average size 5'9" woman and I do not have a petite hand. I can see where it might be snug for a man, but I would not say it is disproportionate for the average hand as I read in other reviews. I also went with the 16' cord over the 26' and I am glad I did. My pup is a very good walker, but if you're walking on sidewalks near busy streets, this thing is so smooth, they could easily get distracted and run into traffic. 16 feet for a 20 lb dog is perfect in my opinion. I couldn't be happier with this purchase and the price! Happy walking...

I like the leash as does my 24 pound cockapoo. But you need to have a dog that listens and only one dog at a time. Otherwise you risk leg burns, getting fido tangled up or other people and dogs. And if the dog is big enough and you are tangled up inside it can hurt. I use it every day for the one dog. But my wife will not use it. She got a "tangle burn" once and she prefers a traditional leash and she sometimes uses the harness. It is also difficult a bit at night because the dog likes to explore off the path but skunks and racoons are closer than I can see but fido can smell so it can get ugly. So this is my third one, they do wear out after about 18 months of daily use.And I recommend it but with caveats.

This is a great upgrade on the previous flexi retractable leashes. I have two soft grip freedom leashes that I used for my dog but decided to try out this new line. It does take some getting used to using the break to stop the leash. This leash feels comfortable in the hand. And it is a lot sleeker and more stylishable.I did also purchase the led lighting system and multi box accessories. If you're looking to add even more accessories I would say check out the vario line and see which works best for you and your dog. I'm actually thinking about ordering one of those as well.Overall this is possibly the best retractable leash you can own. And the price isn't bad.

A nice little lead which suits our two Jack Russell dogs. I wouldn’t think it would appropriate for larger dogs with a lot of pulling power. One of the issues of this design which has cord on the retractable roller is that of developing knots in the cord. I couldn’t explain that but it does! Our previous leads of this design couldn’t retract fully because of this hence my purchase. Subsequent to this I have found a very useful skill that should make these last a very long time. The toughened rubber joint between the tape and string can be unpicked, the knots cut out and the lead essentially refurbished for a second life. Great, I now have four leads for two dogs!

This leash is great. It's actually for a cat, who tends to go through bushes and under decks and trees the human on the other end prefers avoiding. So the leash gets tossed through the bushes and pulled out the other end A LOT. This is really hard on leashes, and not part of the recommended use list, but this leash holds up remarkably well! This is the second flexi I've purchased. The first was the 'Small' model and eventually stopped retracting, but only after a year of heavy abuse. I like the lock mechanism on the 'Medium' version better, although the cat obviously doesn't need the heavier cord. I can only hope this version is as durable as the other.

We went through 2 other fake Flexi leashes before I bought this one, you know the $10 ones in the drug store... yea those are CRAP! Our dog is a tiny Terrier mix, maybe 15 lbs and our dog walker is our 13 year old niece. Every time she would have Batman (yes that's our dogs name) for the weekend he would come back with a broken leash. Finally decided to buy the Flexi and I am not disappointed. We chose the larger one because of the length. Batman loved to run and this gives him plenty of leeway to do so. Leash has been dropped MANY times now and is a bit scratched up but still works 100%. Don't waist your money on a cheap knock off. Go big or go home!

This is my fourth Flexi! This is the first time I have purchased the 26ft cord. Myself and my dog love it. I live in a condo and having a reliable lead is very important as I have 2 dogs whom I walk 4 to 5 times a day. This is the best that I have found. It feels very substantial when you hold it and you have much control. The stop lever works great and is very smooth to operate. The cord which is reflective is very important when walking a dog at night. I also got the LED light that is sold to attach to the side of the handle. I really like this as well because where I walk my dogs at night it is very dark. This lights up the area.

Best or breed when it comes to retractable units like this. Well built. Excellent locking design and retracts very smoothly every time. It has the same retract tension as well. Much better than 2 other brands I bought which were a few bucks cheaper. I am a convicted buyer and will need a second one to keep at the other end of the house. And a 3rd one to keep in the garage. The kicker is that after using it for a couple days, I was about to throw out the package and I noticed for once that this wasn't a China product. Happy to see German quality . Surprised to see they even make stuff like this Germany.

I was a little concerned my 80lb malamute would tear this thing apart but after a couple months it shows no sign of wear.My dog loves it because he can go much farther off up and down hills while we're walking trails. This dude is 100 % sled dog and he's got crazy pull strength, he destroyed one that I bought at harbor freight and another similar one I got at walmart lasted a few weeks before the mechanism inside was completely wrecked. But this leash has held up perfectly. Definitely heavy duty and the fact that it's a round cord not flat prevents it from getting tangled inside the handle.
