I bought this during a period of unemployment in summer 2019 to keep myself active and I've been meaning to review it for some time. I think I paid 34.99 on the Nintendo store for this, bit of a hefty investment considering I was indeed unemployed but I thought, it'll force me to get my money's worth out of it! You'll definitely want to get the digital version for convenience. I know if I bought the cartridge, I would use not wanting to swap the cart out as an excuse not to play it.As for the meat of the game. You've got your daily exercise routine, which appears to be random. As you play over multiple days you'll unlock more songs and moves and the routines will get a little more complicated - to a point. You'll start recognising routines and they do become a bit predictable. You can choose a workout length (15, 25, 35 or 45 mins) and select what you want to work on (cardio, core, arms, etc). If you select "25 minute" routine, you'll sometimes get a 19-minute routine, and sometimes a 29:57 routine. I don't quite know how that works. Some are easy and some are hard, and you can't swap them out if you get one you don't like, although you can randomise the songs until you get a playlist you like. I am utterly convinced that it gives me longer routines after I neglect the game for a few days as punishment.Songs include Bieber, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Aqua, and other various pop earworms from multiple decades. If you find Maroon 5's "Sugar" annoying already you will probably get sick of hearing the looped, muzak version after a few months of playing this, but for me, I think these cheap, instrumental versions of pop songs get the job done. I don't mind them. They are motivational and fun if you don't think about it too hard.Once you've finished your daily routine, you have the option of going into more advanced, specific workouts by choosing a song or an area of your body (legs, core etc.) to focus on. You'll get about 10 minutes of this each time. The game will talk you through each move, guide you through the appropriate stretching and give you tips such as "keep your arm straight" or guide you to position your feet to stay balanced. Some of these are useful and some less so, and I wish it were possible for the game to give you more feedback on posture and performance, although I understand why it's not.Other features? Very few. There's a calendar and graph system that tracks when you played, and for how long. If you play long enough you'll unlock different clothing for your instructors, none of which is particularly exciting or makes any difference. There are six instructions, two male and four female. Five of them have the most fake-sound, grating, cartoonish American accents I've ever heard, so I opted for the Australian one, who sounded like a real human being. I have no idea why one was Australian but I was very glad of it.Ultimately the game will give you a decent workout, although some of your "hits" and moves may not register. I think as long as you are actually moving your body, you are probably doing alright. Is it going to turn you into a boxing champ with perfect technique? Absolutely not. But if you're a gamer who needs to be a bit more active, this is a decent place to start.

I'm generally a healthy gamer as it is, counting my calories etc on most days. However I do enjoy a hearty meal, and I do enjoy eating carbs and the sort of things that the gym-obsessed would consider "cheat day" junk.I used to love Wii Fit and Dance mat games in the past, so I was all for a game like this to come to Switch. After close to 100 hours invested this year. I can honestly say it's a great asset to have if you prefer to work out at home instead of going to gyms etc.On a good week, I try to play this at least 3 times a week, for about 30-40 minutes a time. There is never not a time I don't stop playing having worked up a sweat. The first few weeks of playing will have you aching in places you didn't know could ache too (but in a "you're doing a great job" kind of way).I could feel my general balance/ core strength was improved after a week or so, and my arms and shoulders were improved too. All in all this does a LOT more for your body per session than Wii Fit would in a time comparison. The music choices can be cheesy, but it's easy to keep shuffling the choices or alienate anything you hate in the options. It's really all background noise when you're in the zone though, so don't let the song choices be a decider in buying this. One negative is that occasionally the game (or the joy-cons) might misread what you did, or not read you at all. Which can be annoying, but you just have to remind yourself that you're not doing wrong, you did what it asked. The more you play the more you learn what the game is looking for and the less you'll run into that.Highly recommended for fans of fitness games and/ or rhythm games. Or those just looking for new ways to work out at home.

As a beginner looking to establish a workout routine and get fitter, reviews pointed me in this game's direction. It was a great choice!Even starting out with the minimum 10min workout, you walk away each time feeling like you've had a real workout. You can feel it work. But instead of it being a chore and going to the gym, it's fun and in the comfort of your own home!I've also never had a problem with the limited music choice. Is it my choice of music I'd regularly listen to? No, but it's chosen to be in time with the workouts and really does make it better to follow along and really get in the rhythm. My big, and only, complaint is the Switch's connectivity issues with the joy cons.Especially the left joy con that harbors the relevant issue. A lot of times the system will fail to pick up on your moves and register 'misses' or 'ok' hits, when in fact you're bang on! It's particularly bad at picking up more subtle moves, like weaving, blocking and stepping. The connectivity issue doesn't get in the way of it being a good workout, but it can get annoying if you're actually trying to keep a score - as after all, this does still have aspects of it being a GAME.Overall, though, this release certainly does it's job of being a good way to workout while staying in the comfort of your own home.

I've been using this for almost 2 months and have lost more than ten kilos in that time, though I have also made major changes to my diet. You can set fitness goals for cardio, strength building, targetting certain areas, and a time window for your daily exercise, from ten minutes to forty minutes, though it is possible for a set of exercises to overrun this target by about five minutes or so.Movement detection is good, though it may not feel great at first. The more accurate your movements are, the better it works, I promise. You can work up a sweat, so some gloves to protect your JoyCons and a towel are recommended. The music is genericised instrumental covers, so if you're worried about the track list, don't be, all they provide is tempo.Coming back to increase your streak, having your trainer encourage you, unlocking gear to customise your trainer, and seeing how much you numbers improve over time in the graphs is a great motivator, at least for me. With a free update, you can take screenshots, so you can grab pics of your results screens and share them.Obviously training with this isn't a substitute for heavy bag training or sparring, but for coordination, cardio, and just ease of use, it's a solid tool for the price

I love this game. I have really bad knees so fitness is not something I usually enjoy. But after trying this game via a demo, my muscles were sore and stiff the next day and there was no pain in my knees during or after. I really felt it. And I had only done 20 mins or so. My husband then brought it for me for Christmas and although the music isn't the best selection, it's still fun, it's still effective and my very young children love doing it along with me and dancing. Someone mentioned constant tutorials. But I don't remember them being mandatory. I found them really helpful to begin with. Once you have done them once it doesn't ask you again if you want a tutorial.I couldn't seem to get some of them so I found the tutorials very helpful. On the ones I didn't need I just skipped them I think. I would say this is the game I use the most often. 10 mins a day 20 if I have time. You will feel it the next day and when you have young children that's about all you can manage sometimes anyway. I'm literally dripping with sweat when I'm finished. Such a great game. Hope they bring out some more tracks for it.

For £30 great buy. If it costs more think how much you will actually use it then buy based on that.Bought this due to lockdown as wanted to keep a little bit active while locked in the house. It’s actually really good. You get a daily work out which you set the duration when first setting up between 15 mins and 1hour. I’m doing for 25 mins and it makes you sweat. You get out what you put in. Down side is the music and the instructions. That’s the only reason I given it a 4 star. If you were expecting this to be great then think again. The instructor repeats themselves but...if you do listen carefully the do offer one or 2 reminders to get the right form to make sure you fee it the next day. There is a training mode where you can learn how to do proper form for each punch duck and weave.Word of advice. You need to keep the screen quite high as if it’s on a low surface you will loose focus if you keep looking down.

I've been trying to lose weight for a while and my favourite exercise is boxing so I was thrilled to see this out for Switch. The game itself is good, there are tutorials to show you the different punches and what the logo will be for them in game which you can access at any point. The game provides a daily workout (generated by the game) as well as free workout (you select song and routine) and keeps track of estimated calorie burn. It does require you to enter height and weight but then I'd expect it from a fitness game. Song selection isn't too bad, initially you only have access to a couple but as you complete more workouts you unlock the others. The only draw back for me is the annoying voice and corners the 'instructor'makes but you can reduce the volume of the instructor. Overall a worthwhile purchase if you are looking for a fun way to workout, I did 20 minutes and hadn't even noticed.

As a workout, I can’t fault it. 25 minutes a day works up a healthy sweat and has actually resurrected biceps on my 70 year old matchsticks. If only Nintendo had cared enough to finish it off properly. The problem is that the instructor’s voice and actions aren’t synced accurately to the music. “One-two, one-two. We’ll move at this rhythm.” Which rhythm would that be?Then there’s the controllers’ inability to tell movements apart. If you wanted you could stand completely still and waggle your hands at the appropriate times. You’d almost certainly improve your score. This is made worse when movements come close together. A punch-dodge-punch combo will often record a miss for the duck or mistake the return from the dodge for the next punch.Despite all this,I was tempted to give five stars because there’s no denying that it’s a highly effective fitness workout.

I mean first of all I'd like to say I did in fact play the demo version for this game when it first came out on Nintendo Switch and I absolutely loved it, I mean the fact that the full version offers so much more then I personally thought it would have it really cool and trying to every single workout could potentially take forever, not to mention that the whole game tailors the excises to your body weight and height really does make it stand out as a particularly good purchase, instead of paying for a month at the gym (typically being about £35 - £40 anyway). If you really want to lose weight, and want to have fun while doing it. Then this is the game for you, and I mean if you get bored of just doing it by yourself. There is even up to 4 player COOP!What more is there to offer?

1st attempted trying this and love it! I wish i brought it sooner! You have a daily exercise to do each day; then if you would like to do extra fitness, you can :-)The songs aren't to bad on there, you unlock different songs to the progress you do...You definitely work-up a sweat, you can unlock it to have different difficulties so in time will get more harder! I brought this due to being on a diet and to get bit fit as don't have confidence going out jogging or to a gym..I have a weak left arm due to metal plate in shoulder; this is helping alot by strengthing it tooWill buy the fitness Boxing 2 in next few months once completed this one! Definitely worth the money ?

Picked this up after getting the demo. Never done any type of fitness boxing before and new to WiiFit etc. The game does a great job of explaining the moves and what to do. It has a good lead in, starting with basic moves but adding in more and more. It does mean at first you may find it easy going if you have a decent fitness level but it soon ramps up by adding more moves; intensity options and speed. You can customise it with times, workout types, songs, fitness goals. Recommended.

Fitness boxing involves punching and dodging to the rhythm of music. It's really that simple, and nothing more. Using the Joycon controllers, you perform the moves (e.g. uppercut, duck) and receive a rating for how well you do each one. The more you play the more you unlock (songs, outfits). I bought it for the fitness aspect only. I find it raises my heart rate much higher than typical gym cardio, which means excellent calorie burn and weight loss for me and the wife. Both 1 and 2 player.

When I first opened this game, it was a great fun new way to get some exercise in. It was fun earning the songs and the outfits and being able to choose your coach to suit your motivation and aesthetic needs. But after a while, it becomes extremely tedious and repetitive. It’s great quality for what it is, but becomes a struggle to get through. Staying in position is difficult and even if you don’t do the moves right, it will still count it as being correct. Would recommend.

This is a really good workout game - I'm always sweating when I'm done! It gives you control of which parts of the body to focus on etc.It can be kinda repeating though, especially with the music as you have to unlock these as you go, and they arent the best choices imo, but all and all a good gameI would say it can be iffy with registering certain punches such as uppercuts and I have worked on my technique and moved the console around but again could be me!
