I bought this game the day it came out; having pre-ordered it from Amazon. It was dispatched instantly, and arrived a day earlier than it's estimated delivery date. Already very pleased with the service, I tore into the game and was hooked from the beginning. The player controls anywhere between One and Four characters, depending on story-driven plot devices (in which the "main" team is not always together) and guest characters. Your mission, to save the princess of your hometown from the clutches of the evil Witch Of The North. But, as the Witch is defeated, she cries out; No-one will breach her "contract" with the King... Is all as it seems? The gameplay of Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes Of Light,is very similar to other Final Fantasy games. There are set towns and dungeons, which you access by traveling a World Map. The graphics are much more fairytale and Storybook-like than its predecessors', appealing to a younger market but nevertheless remaining nostalgic for the more hardcore gamer. The characters are well-drawn and believable, and despite their youth, you find yourself attaching to them quite quickly. The game uses a new Battle system: The Action Point Gauge. Instead of the Mana Points used in most other games, this uses a system of five coloured orbs in a gauge. Each action you do in battle requires the usage of one or more of these orbs, which accumulate over turns. Spells such as Cure, the basic healing spell, cost Two orbs, whilst the more strong Arise- a full-revival spell, costs Four. If you wish to Attack, it costs One orb, but if you have an ability to attack all enemies, that'll cost you Two, and so on.The music score for the game is Beautiful, and you find yourself humming the tunes on your own travels- to the shops, on the bus, you're always tapping your fingers to the battle music. A generally under-appreciated factor of DS games is the music, and this game brings it to the forefront- a sure testimony to the makers.Old fans of Final Fantasy will be pleased with the Difficulty this game possesses. Far from the traditional Hack&Slash, this game requires you to plan ahead, and Think about the boss you're facing. Would a certain shield give you elemental defense, thereby securing your victory? Or do you need to change your Class, in order to use different abilities? Defeating the final boss will Depend on this, and a lot of luck. 4 Heroes Of Light is by no means an Easy game, but it never makes you want to quit. The Crown system is a revolution to the old Job/Class system from previous Final Fantasy titles. By defeating a boss, you may gain new Crowns, literal hats or hoods with magical powers. Using gems gained from battling monsters, you upgrade these crowns and gain new abilities. As the Black Mage, reduce your battle magic AP cost by One, or as the Merchant, find more gems during battles. Save the world with the Hero, or defend your friends as the Paladin. It's entirely down to you. This game is expansive for a DS game, with optional dungeons and secret crowns. Personally, I tend to browse online game walkthroughs (which there is only one of to this date) but I can proudly say that despite the Battle difficulty, all this game requires to continue the story is a little Thought. If you need a certain magic you can't buy in the shops, ask around town; Someone will know Something. In short, 4 Heroes Of Light is a title which only furthers my love of the Final Fantasy series. It's gripping, fun, with just the right amount of difficulty. This is definitely a purchase you Won't regret.

I ordered a few things on Amazon one evening, and this was the 1st to arrive and it arrived in pristine condition. Before I opened the game I was impressed.I have borrowed final fanatacy games before but this is the first one I have owned (the 2nd one came in the post a few days later). I haven't had much time to play it yet, but when I first played it one evening, I didn't relise how late it was, and the next day I felt shattered. :SI played it with my headphones on and the music is really nice and relaxing. The graphics are much more modern than other square enix games. They are comparable to the ds zelda games, sims or animal crossing. When you are in the starting town, the world feels round, with the path fading in from the horizon. This cartoon feel is not disapointing. I can tell a lot of work has been put into in, with a lot of specific detail inside buildings for example. It looks like the kind of graphics that would look good in 3DI haven't played enough to comment on the storyline but so far so good. The fighting is turn based and you can toggle between auto attck and choosing your move, which I like, because I sometimes find turn based fighting a bit boring in other games.

With "4 Heroes of Light", Square's latest DS RPG offering, I found myself entrenched in a tidal wave of nostalgia for the first Final Fantasy's, even though this, like almost every other Final Fantasy release, held no connections and indeed not many references to the other Final Fantasy games. Why?Because Square have intentionally styled their game this way. The soundtrack is synthsised yet melodic, the gameplay tough yet rewarding and the characters and world flat yet quirky. This game won't be everyone's cup of tea, considering the difficulty spikes here and there and the odd decision to not allow players to select their own targets in battle, but for those who do delve into this new Final Fantasy with a jot of patience will be rewarded with a very enjoyable DS RPG.

I've only had this game for a few days so am only part of the way through, but so far it has been one of the most entertaining and well thought through games I have ever played. The graphics are great, the storyline I found more interesting than most, and there are certain aspects that I really love. The 'Crown' system works well and adds another dimension to the game - how you equip your character and what crown they wear makes a huge difference. As the story unfolds you play as a different character and it's impressive how the character's stories are starting to fit together. The battle system is excellent once you get into it. I'm really pleased that I bought this.

Because of the negative reviews, i only purchased this game because it was on special. I really do not get what people are complaining about. Yes it might be a little bit difficult to get into to the game at the beginning, but once you get used to it, it is actually a lot of funny. I know that this game is different to the other final fantasy games, but i do not see this as a bad think. Actually i think that the game-play and the graphics are quite creative and i appreciate that they tried something different. So my suggest is, that although the story is really not great, it is still fun and you can definitely get it when it is on special.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game. It took me back to the original final fantasy titles and it's full of nostalgia. 100% recommended.
