This game bears both the 'Final Fantasy' and 'Crystal Chronicles' names, but is unlike any other title so far released in either series. In order to fully explain what this game is, it is best that I clear up any possible misconceptions.First, there are no experience points, no level grinding, no party members, no magic spells (Blizzard, Fire, Cure, ect.) and no equippable weapons, as in the numbered Final Fantasy games. And unlike Crystal Chronicles, there is no real co-op multiplayer and not much in the way of dungeon crawling. The game shares little with its predecessors, and if you are finding this a little offputting then I implore you to keep reading. What this game is,is a pure action/adventure in the vein of such classic series as the Legend of Zelda. You take the role of Layle, a Clavat with telekinetic powers which allow him to interact with people, inanimate objects and monsters using the Wii Remote's pointer. Holding the B button while pointing will latch on to the object of your choice, and with a flick of the remote, you can toss it in any direction, or raise it above your head to carry, throwing wherever you point with a press of B. This method of control works very well and is something that simply would not be possible with a traditional game controller.Combat is in real-time, and enemies can be beaten by simply tossing them about. However, game will shower creative players with medals - rewards for finding imaginative ways of interacting with and quickly defeating foes. The battles are as interesting as you choose to make them and it is genuinely fun to discover how to provoke a Tonberry Queen into whipping out her chainsaw, or how to set off a Bomb and obliterate a group of Goblins with it. There is a time limit for clearing all the monsters in a given area, but battles can simply be retried if you run out of time, and you don't lose any items you may have picked up.Outside of battle, there is a huge, practically seamless overworld consisting of about a dozen distinct areas to freely explore and many things to do, such as fishing, chocobo racing, and 'kickerbaul' which will keep you occupied for dozens of hours. Graphics are surely some of the best on the Wii, with beautiful artistic direction. The music is wonderful; incredibly varied with instrumentation ranging from bagpipes to electric guitar. The story is interesting, fast paced and concise - this is no 60 hour RPG, and can you can probably see it to the end in about 15 hours if you take your time - and kept me hooked through the superbly animated in-engine cutscenes and a likeable and well voice-acted cast of characters.Personally, I only have a couple of problems with the game. The camera is a bit of a pain; it is controlled with the d-pad, and can be slow and unwieldy, requiring constant manipulation during battles. Also, when flicking enemies and objects around, I find they can sometimes go flying off in the opposite direction to that of which you intended. Battles themselves can be extremely chaotic, and as such there can occasionally be some slowdown when there is a lot going on at once. But regardless of these issues, I enjoyed this game immensely from start to finish. It is exactly the type of game we need to see more of on the Wii - a fun, polished third-party effort that uses the Wii Remote inventively, and should satisfy the 'core' gamer while being accessible to more casual players without being 'dumbed down.' If you like action/adventure/sandbox type games then I would certainly recommend this game to you.

This game is really fun to play, looks great and has a large immersive world to explore. Ive never played a FF game before as im a fan of realtime combat, but i have to say the world and story design are very nice. Yes the voice overs need a lot to be appreciated and the female characters are mostly annoying but the different towns and mini games make up for this. The gameplay is constantly being shook up, from shooting in the air to lifting and throwing enemies. There is even some platforming in it. Don't expect much RPG elements tho, you can upgrade your character with items but then again you can play the game without ever changing him. The problem mostly is this game doesn't really know what it it,its a bit of everything. I would say its an action adventure. The fighting is fun, but you never really get your teeth into it and most enemies you never need to fight. This makes the game a little on the easy side. Since most mini games and RPG elements are entirely optional you don't always get a sense of achievement in the game either. That being said this is a very fun and beautiful game, something lacking on the wii till now. Im hoping for a sequel where they can refine the gameplay and fighting to make something a bit meatier and a lot less confused. That i think would be an amazing game!

Why? Well it is a great game and it should of got a 5, however there were just a few niggles with me. First of all its a final fantasy game, in the past all the ff games have been very long. This one however is very short and will probably be completed by most people in a week to a week and half. second niggle was there was a lot of running around between destinations, yes you can ride on a chocobo but its basically the same speed and the train stations are few and far between. third niggle is the final level is incredibly hard and will have you pulling your hair out. This is still a great game though and should of been up there in that rare list of great games that come along every so often, unfortunately it falls slighty short due to the aforementoned.

I am a die-hard Final Fantasy fan, it has been rough sometimes though to accept some of the things that have been churned out under this rich heritage. Dirge of Cerberus? Anyway, I play these games with my mum and we were excited to have it on the Wii after following from psone to psp to ps2 etc. This game is quite hard to play with dear mum, she finds the hurl and grab action a bit hard which means sadly I have to do more than my share which diminishes the sharing way we always used to play these games, I do battles and she does rooting for things and talking to folk. The story as with most of this series is grand and colourful but it's the only Final Fantasy game we have pushed to one sideunfinished...

The wii remote makes this game really fun. You can actually get in on the action of the RPG. However, if your wanting to buy this game for White Mages, Potions and a levelling system like tradtional final fantasys then this isn't for you. Theres none of that. However, I did final the story line good, the character Layle reminds me of a depressed Tidus (from FFX). The ending I was quite disapointed in but I think it could be holding out for a sequel, I'm not sure. The game itself is quite quick (minus the final boss fight) so it would be ideal if you not after a big RPG.

i am a huge ff addict and i was looking foreward to the ff game on the wii, i have had one on order for about 18 months which is due out some time later this year, in the mean while i purchased this game. And i must admit i was slightly surprised, the game it self has flaws and is quite complicated, the split screen takes a lot of getting used to. Having said this the game play is excellant the battles are a little different from previous games and the puzzles are just as hard i would recommend this game to any ff fan.

To put it simply this is the best game I've played for the WII the graphics push limits of the console to the max, the story and the game play is fantastic great battle system and so on the only thing I dislike is the camera system it can be difficult to grasp but after an hour or 2 of game play you will have it down. Would recommend to all. A great addition to the final fantasy series 10 out of 10

If you liked the last generation of Zelda games then then this game is for you, it has a similar feel to it. Nice 3rd person 3d platform adventure filled with lots of missions. There are no spoiler alerts with this review because that is all I am going to say.

For some reason, this game has been given bad reviews.I cannot understand why!It has amazing graphics and character design. The voice acting is wonderful. The storyline is great. And its something different!

6.3.2010

The game is probably designed for younger gamers in there early teens. I particularly enjoy the way the game takes you along on a story. Its a game for the less serious gamers among us.
