Since selling the ol' PS2, if there's one game I miss it's Pro Evo. I grew up with Konami's football games dammit, and was very much used to deriding fans of Fifa. Fifa's never had anywhere near the depth or 'feel' of PES, in spite of it's authenticity. You couldn't help thinking however, how nice it would be if EA could retain all the good Fifa stuff of the past, but take a good look at PES and improve the gameplay and feel, to give us a killer footie game. As a Cube owner too, it doesn't help that you have very little choice. Winning Eleven 6 costs a bomb on import, and Fifa 2004 is too much like Ice Hockey but with a green pitch. So, with some very poor magazine reviews in mind,it was with some fear that I bought Fifa 2005...Make no mistake this is a very different ball game to '04. Play is fluid now, the players themselves far more expressive than ever before. Goal scoring is a joy, and a surprise when after many hours play you are still finding new ways of scoring and rounding defenders. First Touch is no gimmick, but a real stroke of genius that separates the men from the boys. Incorporating the C-stick for tricks and moves is a great idea, so much so that you wonder why no-one did it before. It's truly a surprise to see all this in a Fifa title, where change is something you hope for every year but never get. Never before have I ever wanted to throw a weeks sickie just to play the latest Fifa!Graphically speaking, in Fifa 2004, it all looked rather blurry and, well, cheaply ported over. This time however, things are MUCH improved, with colour and detail in the visuals, not to mention the demise of that awful screen judder that plagued last years game. The only peculiarity this year is the bizarre omission of the on-screen ref and linesmen. Odd, but thankfully it's something you'll never really care about. It's the game though, rather than the presentation that will grab you this year. There are so many modes to start with (let alone unlock) that you'll be well occupied for some time. The 15 season career mode for example, is really challenging Pro Evo's Master league for depth and addictiveness.Pay no attention to the hordes of prejudiced PES fans, who play 2 minutes of Fifa, then place thumb and forefinger to the bridge of their noses, and with eyes closed histrionically declare; "Well it's not Pro Evo is it?". Play it for yourself. Ignore the unbelievably negative reviews it's been getting. EA has finally applied the finish to deliver a truly Beatiful Game. And if you'd have told me I'd be saying this a year ago I would've eaten my Wednesday shirt!

As a FIFA fan i can say that i have played all FIFA titles and enjoyed the majority. One cannot help but be intrigued by its closest rival Pro Evolution, indeed i have heard great things about this game and as someone who plays football regularly i have been told that it is better suited to me.If i was being honest i would say that FIFA 2004 has given me hours of pleasure but that feeling of unfulfillment has always lingered. After playing the promising 2003 version things had improved greatly and i am sure everyone was eagerly anticipating the release of 2004 with a sense of optimism. Oh how we where let down! Graphically the game had come on leaps and bounds, and the gameplay was alot crisper. The game was riddled with needless faults, such as players being fielded out of position, and the CPU was a major let down. Overall there was alot more the developers could have improved on since 2003.im hoping the new 2005 version has improved in these areas. visually FIFA games are fantastic yet gameplay has been neglected, this is where Konami (pro evo) have taken advantage. I hope EA have woken up and realised they have a competition on their hands, my advice would be play both and make an informed decision on your preferred choice.i hope this helps.

finally fifa is a match for the excellent pro evo games. the first touch system works wonderfully, enabling you to pull of some fantastic skills to create space, and so easy to pull off with just a flick of the cstick. the in game skills are performed in the same way and are a joy to watch. i scored a brilliant goal with ronaldinho after doing his flip-flap (from the recent advert) on two defenders. the main improvement is the gameplay, which is very fluid and realistic unlike the prievious fifas, where for example theirry henry would be outpaced by some player youve never heard of, and where you could always score those stupid goals from 50 yards out. its also very easy to get into,so even if u dont like football its still very good. the 1 player is a big improvement, with a 15 year career now, and you can also now create your own tournaments and players. this should keep solo gamers very happy for a long time. multiplayer is an absolute blast when youve got your mates round. if u love football you will love this, its as simple as that. an all round brilliant game, lets just hope EAs other titles this christmas improve just as much as this one has from last year. an essential purchase in my opinion

The best footie game ever made of course is made by fifa. If you love footie this is the game for you, if you have always wanted to be a player for a massive league team this is the game for you, if you have ever wanted to manage a very successful team this is the game for you. People say that fifa 2003 was better than 2004 but i dont know because i havnt played on 2003, but 2005 is definately the best football game yet. You can create your own player and make it the best you can strait away, i dont know why it must just be that you can give yourself a challenge. When i played it i didnt have a big enough memory card so i couldnt save the game,i was determined to complete at least 2 seasons and finaly i did i started off with celtic then celtic again finaly Inter Milan I should of chosen norwich because inter milan are rubbish. You can only start off with 0 points but if you sell some players first then you can buy some descent players. Hears a tip if you have too few people then buy a really cheap player and sell a descent player for a bit of dosh.

I bought FIFA 2003 just after 2004 came out and i thought it was a brilliant game though lacking something to make it a classic. Then 2004 came out and it got really really bad reviews. So when 2005 came out i bought it quikly and was not dissapointed at all. The first touch is a stroke of genius. it can really slice open a deffence if used properly. But if you touch in the wrong direction the other team will grab the ball off you. Another great feature is the create a player it allows you to create detailed players to whatever level of goodness you want. Ontop of all the features the game play is excellent. When playing 2003 i found that most goals i scored looked the same. This has changed totally and there are many ways to score beautiful goals. The best mode though has to be manager which is just class. You start off with a not so good team but as the journey goes on you are offered better teams until you hopefully reach your goal and become a 5 star manager. This game is great. Better than pro evo!

This is a good game and it is better than fifa 2004 which was too slow but it does have lots of bad things about it. 1 for international games there are not enough teams and they have left out good teams like senegal and holland. 2 set pieces arn't varied enough and they are pretty predictable and it is too easy too score from free kicks. Also you can't take short corners or free kicks. 3 players in lower division clubs look the same and look nothing like they should eg Denis Wise has really short blond hair. 4 there is no world cup or european cup. 5 in tournement mode when you play a league there are no fixture lists so you don't know who you are playing next. 6 the commatry is awful, sometimes a player misses from 40 yards and the commentator says the player should have scored. also sometimes it says a player has a hatrick or someone has been sent off when they haven't. other than that it is a good game but still not as good as PES

its a good game, lot more ball control than 04' but one thing i was a bit dissapointed was that the game has a little friction.its not completely smooth like the new pro evolution.but the graphics in the gameplay have improved.one of my favourite features is the realism in shooting, its a lot more harder than 04' where it was as easy as pie! the commentry is similar to 04' with a added comments.the game is definitely better than all its previous versions.overall i would say that its slightly behind pro v in gameplay realism but much better graphics! the game has a few flaws but i cant resist myself from givin it 5 stars, dunno y.as a fifa freak like me, a MUST BUY though!(FIFA gets better and better every year!):)

I got 2005 about 2 months after it came out (iv only ever had fifa once before... and that was 98!). I was impressed until i tried to go on career mode and it wouldn't save because my memory card was too small. So I went out and got a bigger one which cost me quite a bit. When I finally was able to go on career I found it pretty good (apart from the stupid points instead of maney). There's a good create player mode but I missed the create team mode that was in the 98 version. The controls are easy to use and I love the skills you can do using the c-stick, but I can't seem to make players run diagonaly! Oh and as usual the songs are really cheesey! But overall I think it's good and i'm still playing it in 2007!

I was really quite exicted about FIFA 2005, as I have been a fan of the series, but was farily disapointed by the latest edition, 2005, I had the impression there would quite a large difference in Gameplay compared to 2004, but there isnt much of a difference at all, and despite having cool new features, like the store where winning matchings can help you unlock music and kits, the game wasnt as entrilling as I was hoping, o well, i look forward to 2006

WHAT A GAME me and Dean Constantley play this game whenever we get a chance. Whether we are the mighty Reds (Man Utd) with Ronaldo skinning the defence or Rooney Banging them in the back of the net you never get bored. Except Fleur who usually watches me and Dean kick but with or team in the career mode.Keep it up
