FIFA 07 was an absolutely oustanding game and everyone should know that. It's so good to see EA use the "if it's not broken, don't fix it" strategy, and it means that FIFA 08 is also an oustanding game. they have kept all of the wonderful parts of 07 such as the Manager Mode, customization features, challenge mode and all of the unlocks. They have even kept the same menu screen style becasue it's pretty and they work.So what did EA do all this time??Well, they have added loads more teams including the Irish and Australian leagues, boosting some already impressive stats on the number of teams and players. They have updated all the transfers,so Liverpool fans have Torres and Man Utd can enjoy having Tevez etc.But for the me it's the "Be a pro mode" that is truly brilliant. I read a review on another site about this being a "Mickey Mouse" addition to the game, but they couldn't be more wrong. We're all so used to controlling everything in the gameplay, every player, every move etc. But now you are on your own. Create you as a player and control only him. Just as in real life the rest of the team play their game and you play yours. Call for the ball, make your own runs and so on. This is so cool and so much fun it's hard to stop playing. I love this new game mode. The gameplay also feels much harder now. Even on the easy difficulty levels it is so much harder to get a goal and the keepers are very intelligent. The 'trick stick' technique brought in from SSX is also a great new add to FIFA 08. Use the right-stick to do all the skill moves etc. With Ronaldo, there's no stopping your step-overs!!It definitely feels as though EA have tried to copy or at least compete more with pro evo. As another reviewer corrdctly states, the button controls have changed to similar controls as pro evo, and the gameplay is very similar, just less arcadey and more realistic in FIFA, which i definitely prefer.FIFA 07 was awesome and FIFA 08 is even better. There's so much to do, it's so much more fun and more difficult. I love FIFA 08 and I think you will too.

Myself I am not a fan of Pro Evo so I am probably not the best person to judge which game is better. All I wish is that people who obviously prefer one or the other would not write reviews unless they had something to say other than 'FIFA SUCKS BUY PRO EVO'. With that out the way I can begin my review.Fifa 08 has given a more realistic touch to football games. I don't know why this is but here are some of the things that I feel must have helped. These are the 35 point system (players actually being aware where they are and what they're supposed to do), the crowd noise (when you are at home and winning the crowd really gets behind you) and the improved shooting system, giving you a feeling of achievement when you score a goal.Overall Fifa 08 has really improved on its previous editions not only in obvious sections such as graphics and animations but also in game modes. Be a Pro mode is a very fun part of the game. It allows you to take a player (who you can create) through an entire season. This can be done on your own or with some friends who you can compete with. Another improvement is on the manager mode, giving you more to do than just select a team each week and manage the finances. In short Fifa 08 is a very fun game that has come on leaps and bounds from past versions. It is has turned a video game into a game of football, which can only get better in future years. If you are considering whether to get this game or Pro Evo I would suggest to ignore most of the reviews that are written and to make the decision on your own comparing features of both games. The only true way to decide which game is better is to play both of them and not to just guess because of its name.

there are many reasons why people say not to buy fifa games. the first is the graphics. They aren't the best but then again, you can tell they are people, it looks like football does when you watch it on TV so what is the problem. Pro evo buyers seem to make a lot of heckle about fifa, well this is my retort, on fifa you can play premiership teams (with their names :) ) champiosnhip teams, league 1 and league 2. plus the french, spanish, italian, german, korean and american leagues. and there are probably some i am leaving out. One thing that has always bugged me, (and this the reason me and most of my friends dont play pro evo) is the names. With out a map book how am i to know that merseyside red and liverpool, and merseyside blue are everton. Plus i dont support a championship team, so there is no point in buying pro evo anyway. Until pro evo does all the things fifa does alreasy (and better i might add) it is a pilfling excuse for a candidate for comparison.

This game actually challenges you to think like a footballer. It can be quite frustrating just like the real thing, but with persistence you reap the rewards; playing that wonderful through ball, making the long pass, or finishing what can be nothing short of a momentous move. The graphics are spot on, the game play is smooth and works well to complement the quick pace. The online option provides links to interactive leagues that are guaranteed to keep you entertained for hours. You get a regularly updated podcast that discusses the highs and the lows of the week, a great addition to the game.In short this is a football simulation that requires effort to unlock it's potential, well worth purchasing if your willing to put the time into perfecting your skills. Once the AI no longer provides a challenge there are plenty of people online who will test your ability.

Well...I bought this game with expectations of it being much the same as FIFA 07, but i was surprised to find that it has changed. The defence is harder to play against and you actually have to pass to get around them. The passing and crosses are harder to do which makes it more authentic. The goalkeepers are harder to beat and have there own personal setting so you can set them on world class whilst the rest of the opposition is on semi-pro.The be a pro mode is very addictive and you can get as involved as much as you want, you can decide to be a bystander and not do much, or get involved, wibn every tackle, make the criticle pass or even score the winning goal yourself!!!Overall i think it is the best FIFA yet.

Ever since Fifa 2000 the fifa series got so bad , i just stopped buying them , each new title trying to beat the grand-daddy of football games PRO EVO , but now Fifa 08 has arrived and having played it I was pretty shocked , it was an enjoyable experience , but when pro evo 2008 came out I was like WOOOOOW :o graphics are better than fifa 08 , and the gameplay just makes EA bad at making soccer games . This is my final sentence PRO EVO 2008 KILLS FIFA 08 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and personally I think EA games are the worst game developer ever , like one guy from youtube said ''all hype and not enough gameplay''

Fantastic game! beats all other football games out there! Graphics are great. loads of stuff to do on this game. You can create a club and put the club that you created on the season mode, create a player, play online, and there is also a part of the game called "Be A Pro Co-op" Season where you people can play a season just by using 1 player! What I mean is you can either create a player or use a player from the game and decide which club you want to play for and play as that person, no one else on your team, every game for a season! There is loads of other things to do on this brilliant game! buy it!

the last fifa game i played was fifa 04, and it was awful, so i urned to pro evo, which i have bought and loved ever since.this year i decided to buy both, (for PS2) i've just bought fifa, and i'm stunned, it is a brilliant game, the graphics are great and the gameplay is not one dimentional like past fifa games, it's almost as flowing as pro evolution itself, konami have a lot of work to do.(some of these reviews leave me baffled, we must be playing different games)

The PS2 version of Fifa 08 is very similar to Fifa 07 it does have a few nice changes like it being easier to pick the defender you want and more flexablity of how you want to play as your goalkeeper. Also you can play as one single player which is good multiplayer. but overall it is largley Fifa 07 with an updated database which is smaller than some of the other versions of Fifa 08 such as the X-box360 version. I would recomend this game.

this is not a really old game and is cheap and as i needed some ps2 games i have brought a few and this was brand new i swear as their was no scratches on the disk or no marks! the case was in really good condition too! Speedy delivery even when the free delivery is chosen! Good buy for anyone that loves fifa games and anyone still playing on the old school consoles!

I am a massive fan of EA games and the fifa series.Fifa 08 is one of the best games that i own,but to be honest with you,i think it's getting to the point, where EA are focusing more on the ps3 and xbox 360, as there seems to be a lot more that you can do on the newer consoles. However i still love this game, and would recommend it to anyone.:D 5 stars

24.8.2007

well i have fifa 07 and im addicted the gameplay is so realistic so im hoping 08 will be even better without the bugs online . i want a ps3 and the version for that they put alot into that i think the ps2 people will get pushed aside .and following on last review it isnt late its always around this time fifa comes out :D

1.10.2007

This is a definite improvement on the 07 game. The crowd noise is better, which creates a good atmosphere, and the graphics are very good. The game is slightly harder even on amateur, and I've conceded a lot more goals than I did on the last one! But still an excellent game and I would recommend it.

17.6.2008

Yes, it was that good i had to buy it again as my play just loves to scratch the cd, it goes into overburn. The controls are much better than 04, but the game still lacks something. it takes ages to finish a season, transfering players could be better

12.10.2007

Fifa08 is a much more challenging game than 07. The single player "play like a pro" os a lot harder than it seems but it is still greatly entertaining. It is a lot like Fifa 07 which is odd because Fifa ussually goes for a new look each year.
