Having been a fan of FIFA since its conception, each year I have been more and more impressed with each stage of its evolution. This year is no exception - the management mode is absorbing and much easier to navigate than previously. The only downside is that you cannot play co-operatively in this mode, and I'm not too sure why this would need to be locked down. The game play in all modes seems to have been overhauled, and is far better than the ping-pong that was FIFA 05. In game tactical changes are used to good effect, allowing you to find and exploit the weaknesses of your opponents. The best feature is changing the players pace - being able to hold up play, and jink around defenders - actions that are far more responsive than previous efforts. The slow-down that has been mentioned in previous reviews seems exaggerated as it seems to only be noticeable (in offline games) when the ball is hoofed out of the box, which is rarely done. The online mode is pretty much flawed the same as FIFA 05, with a constant ebb and flow of slow-down - which messes with your timing of tackles and shots and can be extremely frustrating. The slowdown is something that seems criminal seeing as only two players are connected, and, given the way EA have improved the online aspect of Burnout Revenge over it's predecessor you would expect better. I can only assume that the old brick is being stretched with this game, and with EA bringing out the Road To World Cup version on Xbox 360, you would hope that there are no slowdown issues, otherwise gamers faith in the new console could seriously be damaged. It may be hard for EA to think of a new feature to add each year, but this time I think they have encapsulated the beautiful game very well indeed. The only similarity between FIFA and Pro-Evo is the colour of the grass - they are two completely different interpretations of the game and are both great in their own right. Personally, I enjoy playing both, but for very different reasons - and that's a whole other review...

Fifa 06 is the ultimate football game.It not only better than pro evolution soccerit better than all the previous fifa games. The player likenesses are superb plus the gameplay is excellent. The best features include player creation and edit plus the ability to save replays of great goals or saves. The substitutions are better you can watch the players coming on and off.Manager mode is much more detailed. You can buy/sell players or loan players from other teams without paying a huge transfer fee.corners and free kicks are improved also, its not as difficult to score from them.Throw ins are excuted better. The graphic quality is superb on xbox you can see every detail of the players and thestadiums.overall a top quality game.Fifa 06 included the features i wanted in fifa 05such as saving replays and seeing players come on/off during subs plus seeing formations and lineups at beginning of a match. One again you may take players from one team to another with the "my fifa 06" function to keep up with real life transfers. This is the perfect football game im keeping mine and not buying any other.

It never ceases to amaze me the arguments about PES and FIFA. Both football games but they offer different things. I love FIFA because it has better graphics, nicer menus, real names and clubs and leagues and stats ....FIFA 06 gameplay is fine, I don't agree that the passing is that inaccurate, your better passes are more accurate, your donkeys might not place a pass as well: isn't that what we want in a realistic football game? I am quite impressed with this version, depsite previous reviews you can beat a man with a little bit of thought and skill, and I don't use the left analogue for control I remapped my controls to use the d-pad - much more intuitive. All in all FIFA 06 is well worth a buy.It isn't PES but if I wanted PES I would buy it (probably will and have both). FIFA does the job, looks pretty and offers hours of playability. I am only just scratching the surface of the game and am looking forward to the manager mode. Best FIFA release in a while, ignore the claims that it should be PES and enjoy it for what it is. FIFA...

What an amazing game!! I have got to say, this is a must buy for Christmas and is for all ages. The graphics are phenomenal and game play is immense. If you were disappointed with FIFA 2005 (like me), you will have a heart attack after playing this (not litterally of coarse). This game is truly addictive. However, there are little problems. The free kicks are harder and some players (such as Hernan Crespo) look like right goons!Overall, this is a most definately a must buy and i truly advise you to buy this. Nice one EA!

This game is no match for pro evo 5, the gamepay is poor, the graphics are not great either. The good thing about this game is the presentation of the game, the menu which includes classic moments (goals), retro fifa games and interviews with samuel eto'o etc.Probably worth the buy

I think that fifa 06 was very good and had some good updates however they still just havent got the gameply up to the standad of pro even though the presentation of the game is verey good compared to pro and its pretty realsitic . Overall improvent on 05 just not better than pro .

Pro-Evo was considered the best football game around. But i think there is finally some competition. Fifa has really picked up the pace. I am finally proud to say "I am a Fifa fan".
