I have three cats, in this house, and they've all been affected quite differently by the feliway, so I'll go through each of them. Please be aware that I have one feliway, plugged into a timer in my lounge which is on for a total of 2.5hours a day. This means I change it about once every three months, and have never supplemented it with any of the other products. Personally, I think (at least when you outright ignore all the manufacturers advice like I have)this works out bloody good value given the results I've seen off it.Ronnie, the good cat, is my little attention seeker, who cares about pretty much nothing other than dinner and cuddles. He is the same cat he's always been, and is the only one who I've not seen any changes in since.Ash, our alpha male, was the king of the alley. He would do little patrols of our rear street from dusk till dawn beating up every cat who dared to cross his path. He would bully our other two in pretty much the same way - running up to them to claw them in the face, then running off when they were minding their own business asleep on the bed. Every time they dared to eat, he'd be straight there, growling, letting them know it was his food. He also thought he could win me and my partner in his little boxing matches. My scalp always used to have a few scabs on from where he'd sat on the wardrobe waiting for me to walk past. He was fairly affectionate to strangers, but it was rare for him to purr or sit on laps or anything. Long story short, he's a totally different cat now. He's not that bothered about going out at night now. He'll stand his ground in a fight, but doesn't pick them anymore. He purrs everyday, snuggles up to us in bed, and is actually quite nice to his brother and sister. He still wrestles us sometimes, but it's playful now, where it never felt that way before.Winnie, our anxious one is the reason I bought this in the first place. She had a massive problem with peeing on us when we were asleep. This happened every night. Sometimes four times in one night. It was actually ridiculous. I was changing the litter tray eleven or twelve times a day at one stage, cos she hated going to the toilet where they'd gone that much. And I swear to god, she would aim for me. She was obviously outright banned from the bedroom straightaway. But the sneaky little cow would wait outside the door when she heard my fellas alarm go off, or when she heard us getting up for the loo and would be in the room and hidden within a second. It was complete behaviour. When she wasn't weeing on us, she was anxious. She'd spend most her life hiding from the other two cats, any visitors we had etc. She loved her mummy a lot, but nobody, and not a lot else. I obviously couldn't go on like this, I was at the laundrette everyday washing duvets which cost a fortune, and had to shot away my expensive mattress, and was always ridiculously self conscious about smelling of cat wee.Anyway, it worked. There has been two wee's on the bed since we started using it about a year ago. One time, it was because I'd gone to bed drunk, and hadn't changed the litter tray before I'd gone to bed (I always do it when I get up, and when I go to sleep, so I think this change to routine unsettled her a bit). The other time, was about three days after our friend Andy had stayed on the sofa. He is one of them annoying people, who goes round other peoples houses being a fire warden, turning off every socket before bed. He'd turned off the feliway, and not turned it back on - we didn't realise until she'd peed on us for the first time in months, and were trying to figure out why. This is proof enough to us that its a godsend. She's still quiet, but isn't scared anymore, she'll let strangers stroke her, but only ever purrs for me.I haven't wanted it to change their personality's completely - hence not having it on full blast. But what I've seen of it, has brought out the best in my cats. They're still my cats - they're just a hell of a lot better behaved and more content in themselves now. No amount of positive reinforcement or shouting could have given these effects, and so I dare say its worth every penny, and would give it a try for just about any problem I was having with my pets.

If you had asked me five days ago if this product worked, I would have told you I'm not sure. How can you gauge cat behavior? They are some of the most unpredictable creatures I've ever known. Our issues stemmed from introducing a new feline into the family. Our other (older) cat was not pleased in the slightest. My husband joked that we hoped she wasn't going to pack her bags and move out. She was beyond angry. While she retreated to the basement and hissed and growled each time the new cat walked by, we were finding puddles of urine on every surface in the house. I'm not talking about spraying. I mean stepping onto a soaked bath mat that was marked with something other than bath water. Some articles will tell you different ways to determine which cat is doing the deed. I didn't need that advice, because the new cat jumped on our bed one early morning and soaked through 3 blankets onto our mattress and my pajamas. He was peeing on brand new furniture, empty grocery and garbage bags left on the floor, and piles of dirty towels. Our home was his toilet.I decided to invest in Comfort Zone Feliway in an act of desperation: skeptical, but willing to try anything to keep our home from becoming one giant litter box.I received the product quickly on the date of expected delivery 4 days ago. Almost as soon as I plugged it in, both cats fell into a long slumber on adjacent pieces of furniture. There's a disclaimer on the product description that says Comfort Zone is not a sedative.I believe this to be true. I think the release of pheromones just does its job immediately to relax the cats. About two days later, my husband and I were shocked to see the old cat walking past the new cat without hissing, and even playing with him! I felt we had reached a breakthrough. Not only that, but the new cat virtually stopped peeing outside the litter box. (There was one small incident, but nothing like before).I should note that we switched litter types during this time, so that could contribute to the reason he stopped peeing in the house. However, this morning, it was like the cats took 4 steps backwards. The old cat was looking for every opportunity to bully the new cat and was being VERY mean and aggressive. She even turned on my husband and our dog.I sat pondering why there was such a sudden turn in behavior when they had been doing so well! That's when I noticed the Comfort Zone plug-in sitting UNPLUGGED on the coffee table. My husband must have removed it from the wall while he was doing construction in the hallway. Eureka!I promptly plugged the insert back into the wall, and as I write this review, my cats are slumbering peacefully within 4 feet of each other and have been for the past 3 hours. Soon they will awaken and hopefully return to the peaceful kumbaya attitude they reached before. I am a believer in this product.

After a recent break-in one of my two cats started acting a bit schizt and developed behavioural problem - no doubt due to stress. He started constantly meowing and prowling around, back and forth, like a caged bear sent crazy in a Chinese or Eastern European zoo.He also started defecating on the floor around the house which, as well as being gross, was pretty embarrassing when I had friends round. This is called 'middening' and is a sign your cat is uneasy in its home. Basically the break-in and the intruder had left him stressed and he was displaying all the classic symptoms.Seeing my moggy upset, was upsetting for me too, so I called a friend of mine who is a vet and she told me about this stuff,Feliway's Calming Diffuser, and I have to say it's worked a treat. It's a bit like Prozac for cats and releases calming kitty-cat pheromones into the air helping your feline to chill.Ike stopped pooing around the house almost immediately and the prowling stopped a few days later - he still meows at me quite a but, but a lot less than he did even before the break-in; and he's a Bengal so they're a very vocal bread anyway. All in all, both of us are very happy with the affect its had on our household. It seems to have calmed him right down. Not only that, I have been able to get a decent nights sleep for once too.A good nights sleep is something I've not been able to enjoy since I got my two cats as both of them have always slept slap-bang in the middle of my bed making it hard for me to move about and get comfy. But since the introduction of the diffuser they've only slept on my bed once or twice - I'm guessing this is because they now prefer to sleep in the living room where the Feliway is.The diffuser itself works like one of those Airwick Plug-in air freshener devices and simply slots into your wall plug. The design is perhaps a bit unsightly, and its bigger and bulkier than a plug-in air freshener but it isn't too bad. They could have made the grill white thought rather than the horrid kind of sepia brown which they chose - this gives it a kind of old, brittle look. The refills simply screw in the bottom and last about 4 weeks. However, they're not cheap and this is why I'm knocking off a star.I feel that the Feliway Diffuser is a great product that works well, but it is extortionately priced. The cheapest I have been able to find it is around 13 quid (that includes delivery) if I buy them in bulk from a place called Animed, here on Amazon. I find it makes sense to order these 3 or 4 at a time otherwise you risk defaulting on your mortgage and not having a house to plug them in to. I bought it from Animed here on Amazon and the my refills were waiting for me at work the next day.

Last year, I was at my wit's end with my new kitten. He is a rambunctious, confident little thing and was bullying my two older cats, always pouncing on them, biting their back legs, disturbing them when they were settling down for a nap, making them move, and then curling up in the very spot they just exited. This is AFTER we had him castrated! Every morning he'd wake up super early, go on the hunt for any item in the house that rustles and then proceed to very loudly play with it until either myself or my husband woke up and threw a slipper at him, or fed him (I got really good in the end - I'd never have to follow up with the second slipper, my aim was that good).I noticed that both the older cats were finding it hard to settle around him, my lovely little girl cat getting really quite distressed whenever he went near her, and I was sick of being woken up at 5am every morning (I'm one of those unlucky people that once are awake, can't go back to sleep). I was terribly sleep deprived and desperate for harmony to be restored in the house. My husband wouldn't let me rehome the kitten (yes, it got that bad) so I looked into having the husband rehomed instead, but no one would have him as he isn't house trained.Anyway I've heard of Feliway before and was so desperate I tried it. Oh my God! After the first 24 hours I was like "Oh, it hasn't worked, where's that damned slipper?" but after 2 days when it had kicked in - ahhhhhhh...peace!!! That morning I woke up at a blissful 7am with my very relaxed, sleepy new kitten curled up on my chest and my oldest cat curled up on my pillow, purring. Things have been very quiet since, the kitten is calmer, more relaxed and doesn't bully the other cats. The girl cat is more accepting of the kitten although they will never be best friends, and they all get up at the same time my husband and I do. They're much more affectionate too.I know it's definitely the Feliway, because as it nears the end of the bottle they start to wake up early again and go on the rustle-hunt.The house is so harmonious now that it's worth every penny. I know it doesn't work for some cats, and to be honest I'd probably say it has very little affect on my eldest cat, but when it does work, it REALLY works, and when you've gone 3 months with poor sleep anything is worth a try.

We have two cats and after a number of upsets to their routine (a house move and relocation, staying with my brother while we were on holiday, me having to go away unexpectedly for a further week straight after) one of them developed toilet problems and started soiling the carpet outside his litter tray. This gradually got worse over time and no strategy seemed to help - if I put down plastic carpet protectors he would just find the point where they joined and go there. We took the cat to the vet and spoke to a behavioural therapist who suggested some changes and also recommended we try Feliway. We acted on all of her advice (we put the Feliway plug-in in the landing plug socket (below a radiator),although this isn't where the 'problem cat' was spending the night) and things improved for a while.Unfortunately after a little while the problems started again. The carpet was ruined and stress levels in the house rose steadily - my first job every morning became the chore of cleaning up the mess and it was the cause of many arguments. My husband (boyfriend at the time) gave me an ultimatum (the problem had been going on for the best part of a year at this point) and I resolved to try anything I could or risk losing one of my beloved cats. I set about looking for another behavioural therapist (the one we'd tried before was 'no longer working with cats') and in the meantime ordered a Feliway refill. This time we used the Feliway in the room the cats were both now sleeping in, and the socket wasn't below a radiator. The first morning after plugging it in the cats both seemed very chilled out, although there was still mess to clean up; the second morning, for the first time since I could remember, there was no mess...and that was it, the problem behaviour stopped! For us this really was a miracle cure to a very stressful problem. I think the first time we tried it the plug-in was just in the wrong place and wasn't really dispersing around the room like it needed to. I have tried the spray but this doesn't seem to work very well, but I would definitely recommend the plug-in. Just be careful where you put it. NB I never noticed any odour from the plug-in and personally don't think it's necessary to have one for every room.

My vet strongly recommended this for my cats. Feliway work for my 2 kitties.. I adopted them both last years. they were rescues and adults. My boy, Freddie, is very anxious and hides from every human but me. This sweet lover-boy is super skittish, I and i think he clearly suffered in his past from neglect and possible physical abuse. Feliway has been great... He stops hiding all the time... He now sleeps during the day in plain sight. He can even tolerate some guests without running off. He is still on the shy side, but is a lot more confident. He also is a lot more chill about his food.. Before, hungry or not, he would really freak out if his food bowl was empty...which my vet said was the result of his previous food deprivation.. Now I only need to have food in his bowl at meal time... which is good because he was chunking up.I though my other sweet boy, Elton, had no issues with anxiety util I started Feliway... Elton's first human Mom died of old age, but he was always well cared for. He is a very personable extroverted, attention seeking kitty. I realized that he was actually very clingy... always needed to right next to me. Once I started Feliway, I noticed that he was sleeping more and not so concerned with everything I was doing... he also seems a lot more relaxed. He also stopped aggressively grooming my other cat all the time... ( which Freddie clearly did not enjoy)But problem... I am pretty there is something wrong with the last batch Feliway I ordered on Amazon.. The packaging just doest seem right.... I suspect it is a knock off or something? I might need to order this through Chewy.com again.. I never had issues there.

We started using feliway for my 12 year old female house cat this autumn as she became unwell during the summer following some unavoidable disruption and upheaval including repeated travelling and new furniture being moved into our home. She was stressed and worried, and this manifested itself physically in the form of repeated bouts of cystitis -which, as any cat owner who has witnessed this will know, is very upsetting for everyone involved and can leave an owner feeling quite helpless.A vet at out local practice treated her several times with antibiotic injections and metacalm (which made me a little uneasy). These treatments were successful only in the short term and her cystitis recurred several times. Therefore, I researched several options in the hope that we could successfully tackle the underlying causes in the long term rather than merely treating the obvious and painful recurrent symptoms. After speaking with another vet we started her on cystease capsules and got her a feliway diffuser plug-in. As we started these treatments at the very same time I cannot attribute the success to one or the other with absolute certainty. However, after using the plug-in (and cystease) for about three months I'm thrilled to report that my cat has been happy and well with no sign of the cystitis. (Paws very much crossed that this continues!)I do feel that the feliway plug-in has made my timid wee house cat less stressed and much more relaxed -I feel that is has really benefited her and, though all cats are different, I would recommend that it is at least worth trying out.

Works a treat for out highly strung, part feral cat, who decided to "imprison" herself in comparative luxury upstairs in our house some 9 years ago on the arrival of a very active border collie. We did encourage her to go out, but found that she was so nervous that she simply went into an outbuilding and froze where she found sanctuary: I found her many days later, somewhat emaciated and totally rigid with fear - despite the fact that she had lived and hunted in our garden previously.Against that backdrop, I managed to get her into the house and for 9 years she has led a charmed life upstairs in our home, joining us on our bed some nights, but invariably hissing at us if we put a hand anywhere near her.We decided that we had to do something when she needed veterinary care and purchased this product. Grace has enjoyed it for the last couple of months and during that time has endured three trips to the vets (the staff did not heed our advice regarding the first visit and the plasters were very evident) however, second and third visits went much better and incredibly, provided that the dog is locked in the kitchen, she now joins us in the lounge and has even sat on my wife's lap. It may be old age, but Grace has always been highly strung and chose to adopt us rather than the other way around and as such has always been aloof and typical of a feral cat. She is far from domesticated, however, for her to venture downstairs and to sit on my wife's lap has been a revelation and I can only assume that it is due to the efficacy of this product.A full 5 star rating

This really does help calm my cat. It was a rescue cat and it as took quite along time for her to settle in and now has got use to us. I think these helped greatly in keeping the cat calm in the early stages and I’ve now decided for monthly repeat orders. I was considering a different brand slightly cheaper however although answers to my question were generally good in regards the other product the burn smell and heat from the plug adapter replies worried me. My first unit was purchased from a well known pet store upon collecting our cat and was very pricey although it did include the 3 pin plug in adapter.I noticed that the product lasted exactly four weeks however since buying the refills via amazon until my subscription I noticed a much shorter time scale more like 3 wks at best. I’ve now placed it upstairs we’re she sleeps as now it’s warming up although only by a few degrees and now allow her outside with the door open I feel it’s wasting the product and I’ve definitely noticed a difference with her more lively behaviour. I don’t wish to have a drugged up cat 24/7 but I like her calm and not jumping/springing about. I’ve even popped the lid of the plug in to get the few drops remaining within the bottle and put a few drops on her bed and she sleeps like a baby. I only wish they did a human form of a plug-in to help relax and calm myself and sleep well. Although not cheap if you average the daily cost it’s nothing to have a calm well behaved cat and she’s worth every penny a very spoilt cat indeed.

My eldest cat enjoys the nightlife and never wants to stay in once darkness falls, except when it is pouring with rain. Unfortunately she had to have her tail removed after being shot and, despite having to wear a collar for two weeks (to prevent licking the wound), she would not settle in the house at night. After a few sleepless nights (us) during which she dragged at carpets, doors and anything else she could get to, our vet suggested we try Feliway. The diffuser plugs into a normal socket and the emitted scent is designed to be soothing to cats (I could detect a very faint odour but nothing unpleasant or overpowering). They are designed to work one per room and with a door closed ideally - we allow our cats to go everywhere so put one in the room where our cat normally sleeps and two more in other parts of the house. She did seem to settle more subsequently and we were able to reduce medical sedation and pain relief as well (and also get more rest ourselves). The Feliway diffuser worked for our cat and if you have a cat that needs to be calmed down post-operatively, I would certainly give this a try. The instructions also suggest it can be used to reduce stress at other times, such as when there are fireworks, but the unit needs to be plugged in for a few days before it becomes fully effective, so it needs to be bought in advance ideally. This is the refill for the Diffuser, which you need to purchase separately (one unit comes with the diffuser).

Teddy was a stray cat in my neighbourhood when I moved into my new flat. It took 4 weeks to coax him in where he would eat and drink, letting me stroke his head only. He was very anxious and seemed clueless as to how to interact with me, and obviously had not been inside a house for many years, if in fact ever. He would sleep for 5 minutes at a time and only with the door ajar. When I'd look in the garden for him , he'd be sleeping under a conifer tree . I was desperate to get him used to the door being shut and have him sleep indoors before the inclement autumn and winter weather set in. I thought I'd give Feliway a go and plugged it in whilst he ate, shutting the door.He was initially distressed and the night was not without issues (neither of us had much sleep!), but towards dawn he jumped up on my bed and snuggled down in the crook of my knees. Tonight is the 3rd night and the improvement is incredible. He's massively fussy, I can wrap my arms around him and kiss his head and as the photograph shows, he's happy to sleep for hours at a time without any anxiety at all. He doesn't even go to the door until I open it so he can have a wander. If your cat or cats have any nervous behaviours or are struggling to adapt to a new home, definitely give it a try. I paid approximately £27 for 30 day starter kit and a refill which works out at £3.40 a week , which is fantastic value for money. I'll never be without it.

I have used this product before.. a few years ago when my cats got neutered at the vets. my two cats (1 male, 1 female) came home, and my female was very hostile & angry for a few days. She hates any sort of change, and the difference in hormones upset her. She was growling and hissing at her brother for about 3 days. At my wits end, I got the feliway and it worked a dream! She calmed down and there was harmony once again.HOWEVER, I have just ordered this product for a second time. I am looking after my friends two cats at the moment, so bringing them into our home has, once again, upset my female. She keeps hissing and growling at everyone :( Its horrible to see her so upset. Bought the Feliway on Thursday, its now Saturday. Doesnt seem to be working so far. She's still angry and upset. Obviously she feels threatened. Maybe it needs a few more days to work, I dont know? It just doesnt seem to be working as well as it did last time.So as you can see, it has and it hasnt worked for me. If it doesnt work for some people, dont be put off because all cats are different and it CAN work. It was a godsend the first time around. I just dunno why it isnt working this time. Not giving up tho, still got my friends cats for a whole other week.. maybe things will get better.Anyways, give it a try, it works for MOST cats. my female is a very unique, hostile and fussy cat! She wants things her own way.

This seemed to send one of my cats even more crazy (she's a bit scatty anyway) so we unplugged it.However, when we brought a new cat (a very timid, paranoid, easily frightened kitty) into the fold, we plugged in the diffuser in the bedroom and isolated the new cat there. The new cat went from being severely depressed and lonely at her old home to being friendly and attentive within a matter of hours. It could be a coincidence but it seemed to help. She was also very intrigued about the smells coming from under the bedroom door, as were our two on the other side, so we threw caution to the wind and after only 2 days we let them introduce themselves. My cats aren't exactly violent and territorial, and of course every cat is different, but instead of being worried and concerned about their new stinky housemate(s), they seemed intrigued and inquisitive, and once they'd all got over the initial shock of having an intruder and had a bit of a hiss at each other, we had them all sleeping together on our bed within 2 weeks. The new cat is still a bit wary some months later, as the scatty one above tries to exert her authority with a bit of rough'n'tumble, but the refill has of course now run out so I do wonder if that has had an effect. The Feliway spray, incidentally, works a treat. Feliway recommend that you use both together and so do I.
