This is the second Metal Earth Star Wars model I have made and although I am quite impressed with it I have to admit it was not an easy build. The instructions for forming the cockpit, adding the weapons and the wing pylons are in my opinion in the incorrect order and I would definitely change my construction method for this first part of the build if I was to make another one.My first suggestion would be to form the cockpit around a marble or something spherical at around the same size first as I do not like the squared off look along the trailing edges. These can be noticed quite easily when the cockpit frame and solar ionisation engine parts a fitted.I would also make sure not to fasten this bit together until the weapons are fitted as I found these to be impossible (I broke one and couldn't fit the other when the cockpit was clasped into place). I would also fit the pylons before closing as I really cut into my finger on the protruding tabs and had to wait a few days before continuing. However once the initial pieces have been constructed the rest of the build is fairly simple (maybe modify the construction method for fitting the cockpit with pylons to the main body. I would have fitted this to the first wing plates first as it was very fiddly to attach once these are fitted to the body). Overall though I like the finished product (minus weapons) and I have compared my construction with the 360 degree photo's on the Metal Earth website and I think mine looks better than theirs (the entire rear section is bent on the site) and the parts I have reservations about are the same or better on mine.Loses one star as the model looks great but requires a rethink for construction. Not for a first time Metal Earth builder.

This was the second Metal Earth kit I constructed, after the Imperial Star Destroyer. I found this kit to be a lot harder to build, but the end result was extremely satisfying.Like the Star Destroyer, the pieces come in two sheets, along with a very clear and concise set of instructions. There are a lot more curves to be formed in this kit, which always seem to provide the greatest challenge and most frustration. However, the kit was of superb quality, and the stainless steel pieces never felt too fragile and I carefully manipulated them into position each time. With a lot of patience, I managed to overcome each of the most challenging stages, and it left me with an end result that I was delighted with. The total build took me about two hours. and I ended up with a very sturdy and visually pleasing model. This definitely comes recommended, and I'll be buying more in the future. One note of caution, I have had disappointment with another model in a different Metal Earth range - the Normandy SR2 from the Mass Effect line. I found a significant contrast in design and quality compared to the Star Wars models I have constructed so far. Whether that exists across the range is something I will have to wait and see.

This was the third kit I made (after the basic TIE and Star Destroyer). Compared to the TIE fighter it's a breeze to put together, and of the 3 I've made it's also the sturdiest. I can echo comments from other reviewers about not bending pieces too much (as I did on the first TIE I made), but after your first kit you learn the best techniques to put these together. All in all, it's a nice little kit and of the three I've made it's the easiest - the instructions are a single side of A3 and there aren't a lot of circular pieces to make, so it's pretty much fold and connect. As I said earlier, it's also the sturdiest, unlike the basic TIE fighter which is rather wobbly once built despite my best efforts (although it was the first I made). As with most of these it will help if you have some specialist modelling tools - I use some long nosed pliers (for tabs where you have to twist and there's easy access) and very fine nosed modelling tweezers (for restricted access/folding). Took me about 3-4 hours I'd say.

The kit assembles well, and looks beautiful when complete, but you need to be careful and patient. Curving the central hull takes some expertise- I suggest you curve the sections over gradually narrowing curved surfaces until correct. I found a small cotton bobbin to be ideal. The tabs are often difficult to insert, and I needed strong reading glasses over my reading glasses to fit some bits! I could not get a really secure connection for the "wings", so cheated and used a little epoxy. Ditto for the cannon.Parts are easy to cut off the sprue using a scalpel, but do not attempt to twist them off as some reviewers have done. You will bend the parts. This model kept me quiet for around four hours, but I love the result. I have ordered more from the range.

I love these models, but you do need about 2 hours, patience, steady hands that can cope with a lot of fiddly bits, decent tweezers to bend the parts and very good near eyesight. I've made three of these models, but this one is the first where I reached a point where I couldn't work out how to reach my tweezers inside a part I'd made to bend tabs to secure a different part. Possibly I attached two parts in the wrong order slightly. The rounded bits need a lot of coaxing into place too. If you're frustrated easily, steer clear as you'll end up breaking it in annoyance, but they do look nice when they're done.

This was my second metal earth model to try. It took me about 4 hours, I found the whole process thoroughly enjoyable, finished model looks great, instructions are easy to follow, I will be buying more. some parts are quite a bit challenging and requires patience. the only tools I used were a pair of flat tweezers and a 6 inch metal rule (good for bending straight edges with precision) and a magnifying glass. Mine was supplied by amazon and was therefore a genuine metal earth product. I'm starting Tower bridge now.

5 star! This was the 2nd metal earth model i’ve Made- after a dragonThis one was easier although still some fiddly bits-the round windows, but as previously the instructions are simple and easy to follow and the end result- photo attached- is perfect! It’s not “difficult” as such- but fiddly and time consuming- pliers are advised but are too big- use the wife’s eyebrow tweezers things( I think that’s what they are- I haven’t asked her)Photo attached

My third in this collection. As always assembly is totally accurate using the extremely well detailed pieces. Care and patience has the reward of a lovely model. I really enjoy assembling these models. They are challenging for someone with a long history of model making but highly enjoyable. Excellent delivery and a good price. Youtube has videos if you are unsure although some are better than others. I took about 8 hours for assembly. Brilliant.

Great little kit that took an hour or two to put together. This was my first Metal Earth model, and it was pretty straightforward. Instructions were mostly clear but I had some issues with the central cockpit section. Just because of the shape it's incredibly fiddly and hard to get perfect.Definitely recommend, just, bring a modicum of patience with you...and some good tweezers!

This is a delightful model to make - but make sure that you are VERY careful when bending the metal, especially along the dotted lines - a couple of bends and the metal will break apart. It's very fragile.I'd also say that I'm lucky that I have small hands - I'd truly admire someone with big chunky hands putting this together as the pieces are pretty tiny!

These metal earth kits are great when done I have hsde three starwars models . Made of laser cut tin the details on the parts are good .You will need tweezers small snips good eyes or magnifying glass and a steady hand. Parts are small and the tabs that you have insert into slots to attach each part very small . Worth tho when done . Oh and a lot patients.

Very high quality kit.BUT be warned some of the parts you have to fold are very delicate and I manahed to break two of them by bending too many times which made the model unfinishable which was a real shame.Would be very nice onve completed and will be trying another one in the range.

Bought this for my husband and it's much smaller than expected. The directions are not clear so please go on YouTube first to see how to remove and assemble. Pieces are small and fiddly if you mess up you can't do anything about it. I recommend an easier one to try first.

This is a very light metal model kit, it wasn't easy to build but very satisfying when done. I bought this as a gift and the recipient is going to look at other kits in the series with the intention of collecting more of them. Excellent delivery & a good price

i got this for my brother for christmas because he loves star wars and building things and he loves it. the only thing is its quite a complex thing to build so i don’t recommend it to young children as my brother is 16 and really struggled with it !
