Fantavision seems to divide people straight down the middle - a lot of Amazon reviews claim it's a shallow, short-lived experience. It is nothing of the sort. Once Easy mode is completed, the advanced tactics tutorial opens up, demonstrating quite frighteningly complex methods of 'juggling' the fireworks in order to keep them alight longer, creating extensive higher scoring combinations. Anyone who claims there are no tactics in this game has clearly played it for about five minutes. Now, I love Puzzle Bobble (aka Bust-a-Move) more than is probably healthy, but the tactics in that game essentially boil down to taking a risk building a long bunch of bubbles to drop. Essentially Tetris inverted, and nothing wrong with that at all. Fantavision, however, is a whole different kettle of fish. Planning, juggling, linking, detonating, chaining fireworks across a technicolour landscape with well-executed music, plus plenty of spacy imagery is enough to send you into an almost trance-like state. Unique, and very enjoyable. Good at under thirty quid.

Fantavision is the only fireworks game I've ever came across and really offers up a completely unique twist of the family puzzle genre.Like many simple puzzle games, the object is to link the same coloured lights together. When you have 3 or more, you can detonate them and they explode into pretty fireworks. Essentially its like bust-a-move without the bubbles and blocks and a real graphical treat for each chain you manage to create.Yet it does feel completely unique. Whilst its never really challenging, it does hold you attention, and the two player modes make for maddening gameplay and lots of fun.I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a fresh change to the usual gaming format as its a high quality piece of gaming. The replays are beautiful too!

As with most fast moving games, the tendancy is to hit the buttons as quickly as possible, without much accuracy. However, if you work your way through the rules, and then the easy 1 player mode, you find yourself taking a more strategic plan of action, aiming for specific fireworks, and using the buttons half as much. Once you have discovered the skills required to play this ingenious game, you will find no time for anything else. It is completely addictive, especially if you have someone else to play against in the 2 player mode. Great original idea and concept, fun gameplay, strategy and speed, mixed with excellent, but simple graphics.A must have for all discerning PS2 owners

When I first brought my PS2 I wasn't realy intrested in this game one bit going instead for the more arcade games like Ridge Racer5... but after hearing so much about it I thought I'd give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised.Game play wise it has a lovely relaxed feeling about it even when the action on screen is getting very tense with the graphics never getting to muddled however colourful and complex they get on screen, the fireworks are simply amazing to be seen in the replay [which you can save]Sit back and play this game if you want a change from the norm.
