THIS IS MORE JUST A RAMBLING DESCRIPTION OF MY THOUGHTS ON F1 2016, as well as a review. So don't take it too seriously. Well do, but also don't...CAREERWell rounded, very smooth running and lots of practice objectives to give you points to upgrade the car, and the actual racing after the latest couple of patches has been spot on. I was racing in Austria earlier and the AI actually commit to overtaking and racing you alot better now and can actually pull off moves, instead of just being daft and backing out like before. The career mode feels good again and has purpose now, plus with the improved AI its even better. Very solid effort from Codies.MULTIPLAYERThere are some minor issues here and there but nothing as bad as before. And people seem to be racing more fair this time, can't see that lasting long though haha again needs some more work but is good so far. The matchmaking process is still a bit slow though, but nowhere near as god awful as it was on 2015.QUICK RACEChose any driver, from any team and any track with any settings and race length and just have a fun time trying to win a Grand Prix. Well put together and fun like career. Just your standard game mode really. Good efforts on this.TIME TRIALChose any car and any track in any weather and time of day and just set fastest laps to compete on the leaderboards. I saw someone in first place on one track with a lap time of 10 seconds, so this needs to be patched. Clearly an Alien, as Into The Barrier would say, and rightly so too...CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONThe same boring mode that 2015 had, play as a real life driver and try to win the title. This is for casuals and noobs who can't be bothered to (or just can't) commit to a full career. Not everyone has the time I guess. I played this literally twice on 2015. First with Button trying to do it legit, then with Hamilton and won every race in the Mercedes, just for the cheevs! This time though... Avoid!PRO CAREERDidn't bother with this on 2015 and won't be this time either. Full 100% length on all sessions including races, no assists, no HUD and locked to cockpit cam. This mode is pointless unless you have a wheel and pedals for full immersion. A whole bag of nope!GENERALCars handle well and feel good through corners and under braking. Can sometimes get unstable if you go too hard and get too big for your boots, like in real life. I went through a corner too fast and got a big tank slapper resulting in a lot of wobble because the car got too loose. The driving mechanics are brilliant. The game audio and engine sounds are possibly the best I've ever heard in any racer and sound close to reality, the whir of the turbo, the skids from the tires, the noises of the crowds and more... perfect! The graphics are equally as impressive. Very crisp and sharp and the lighting is wonderful and feels more realistic than previously. Especially in wet weather at night time, for example around Singapore, the reflections on the cars and puddles look swish.I can't really think of anything wrong with it to be honest. I know, shocking right? There's still some small issues which need to be fixed up here and there but it's the best F1 game in years period. It gets 5 stars and an effortless 9 out of 10 from me.Thank you for reading my poorly constructed and (possibly) grammatically flawed review of F1 2016, I hope you found it very insightful in your quest to become F1 world champion. Whether you're well seasoned on F1 games, or a lightly seasoned newbie and not used to racers, I believe F1 2016 has something for you.Plenty of settings for you to play with to tailor the game to your style of play and needs. I recommend giving it a go. It's honestly the best F1 title in years. See you on track and most importantly, have fun!!

I have only played through the career mode so I am unable to comment of the rest of the games features.Rejoice!! after several stagnant releases leading up to the disaster of F1 15 we have at last got given a title worthy of this series classic releases of times gone by. The overwhelmingly new feature of this game is safety car which they have done really well and is probably about as realistic as it could get, the rest of the games features are pretty standard really and can be found in most of earlier releases of the series but even so they have clearly taken all the negativity surrounding last years release and dealt with the problems by simply going back to basics and although that mightseem a little dull it actually works very well. This game sees a much welcomed return of the career mode (why....why did they take this out of a game like this!) and as you'd expect all of this seasons locations, teams and drivers are all present and correct. The graphics are about as good as can be expected from such a game. The driver settings can be altered to suit all player levels making the game as easy or as challenging as you want it to be, as always the length of the race weekend can also be altered to suit your own taste - like I say pretty standard stuff really but they have done a good job of it.The moans.......As always with this series I like to choose the full racing weekend / 100% laps setting so my experience my differ from the shorter settings. My only gripe with this game is the radio chatter from the garage, the constant harassment to change the race strategy is really annoying there seems to be no set routine to this, I have even received this message on the first lap! selecting no or just simply ignoring the message doesn't work as the message will just get repeated over and over again until you agree to the change which results in having to pit. in between all this you get pointless performance updates about other drivers who have no bearing on your race for example you can be leading the race and get a message telling you what the driver back in 17th place is doing why is that so important? surely information on the second or third place drivers would be better..... as frustrating as this feature of the game is you do actually get used to it and after awhile it ceases to be an issue and more of a joke but it is an issue that the game could do without.Leaving that aside this is great game and a must for all F1 fans

Id like to start this review of by saying how much i love the game , last years season was very good too but just cannot hold a candle to this years , ill start by saying it has 2015s handling model and playablity which is a good thing loved the 2015 handling was so enjoyable and satisfying to play , with this years game they have brought back career mode which is nice to see now being able to choice your own car number and avatar and helmet design small but satisfying features , you can ofcourse choice from any car you like they are not locked which is heaven sent to me as a gran turismo fan and etc , having things locked is just breaking ones free will , to just drive any car they feel like ,yes gran turismo is more rewarding in that area , anyway the playablity in career is dynamic and challenging on the new difficulty on ultimate which lives up to the name and is very hard to keep up with the competion on first try which is very good , you sometimes find yourself battling over a point which makes for some action racing and honestly the a.i in this is phenomal they do make the odd mistake but thats f1 even in real life cars colliding and even the safety car can appear which i love that so much , they introduced an r & d system that lets you pick and choice your development area and improve the car and even in some cases depending upon preformance you can pull a team down or up and even be demoted to another team , which i love it makes it more realistic , more unique and it makes you want to come back and keep playing just because of the awesome racing you get out of it , ive played for a while now and honestly after seeing mercedes in the middle section of cars you can see just how dynamic the game is and can be , i will admit my only issue is the why to acquire r & d points can be abit fiddly but worth it for those who care about that kind of thing for those of you who dont you can play without just makes life harder in the long run sadly no option to turn it off i dont think .Next off id like to review a big dissappointment and the only one i have , is there is no split screen and thats a damn shame .Multiplayer next and well thats about the same as last years so ill let you decide if youve played last years what to make of that

This major problem has been in every f1 game Codmasters have made. I am with Force India and I am winning all the races. AI is on Hard and I do all the braking, but I am still getting pole and then winning the race comfortably. No matter what difficulty it is on if you don't drive for Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull you should not be winning a race. Ok maybe 1 or 2 races but I can win every race of the championships with a Force India. I was expecting to be scrapping for a 12-5 place finish, then getting offered a contract off a bigger team who's cars are superior. This gives me no excitement at all just going round the track in first. I finished 52 seconds ahead of my team mate.I win and I don't want to because it would never really happen the game is beyond realistic but then that really spoils it.Other than that problem this is the best game they have ever released. I have not owned one since 2012 so I don't no which parts are brand new and which was in the other games. But for somebody who has not played f1 in a while it seems like a whole new game to me not a cheap add on you get with Fifa for example were only the players have been updated and not the game by much. Even practice is really detailed then speaking on the team radio during the race is brilliant. But again coming back to the problem you can upgrade your car in this but since I am winning all the time anyway it seems pretty useless to make my car even better when for some reason it already is the best.Buy it if you are an F1 fan or even if you are a fan of racing or casual gamer it is really good just a shame about Codemasters not making the cars that should win actually win.

One thing I've always found lacking in circuit racing games like F1 and MotoGP has been the absence of any real motivation to participate in practice sessions beyond reacclimatising myself with the track. This is the first such game I've played which has given incentive to run a full race weekend each time, at least in the career mode. It achieves this by using the practice sessions as R&D opportunities for your team. You are given three different research programs to complete (which are effectively lap objectives focussed on lap time, racing line and tyre wear respectively). Research points are allocated according to your performance in these programs and after a few weekends you can convertthose points into prizes in the form of improvements to your car.The immersion is great throughout practice, qualifying and race day and, as ever, you will get the most out of this game if you avoid the use of rewind and/or restart, set the AI difficulty and assists to provide a challenge to your level of skill, and don't set it so you're guaranteed to be leading the pack every race.If you've been put off by 2015's minimalist release then give this a go. In terms of features and modes this is worlds apart. Many are saying this is the best F1 game ever and I don't believe that's necessarily hyperbolic. I've not played every F1 game ever released but I have played them all since 2010 and this is easily the best of those.

Graphically this on PS4 doesn't come close to last years iteration on PC (obviously this depends on what grunt your PC can kick out), but I find that with this version the graphics are washed out. There is also severe blurring around the edges of the drivers when they are on the podium and screen tearing still exists too. However the inclusion of the previously removed disciplines are much welcomed and are well executed. The online also is exactly how it should be, reverting to the style as used in F1 2010. The handling of the cars is also improved, making the handling of the car much more intimate with the input of the throttle and steering. The physics of the car on track and when your car is off track is also improved. You have to take much more care when you hit the kerbs as this makes a vast change as to how you control your car. Leaving the track to grass also makes your tyres much more greasy than before making entering and manoeuvring back onto the track much more tricky. All in all a much improved tittle, but then this is what F1 should've been last year. It still needs work and I feel the Codemasters are still massively holding back and could do much, much more, and that's why I feel that this game is just worthy of 4 stars and no more. I however would still like to see a new developer take control of this licence to freshen it up.....

A few improvements to the game, I like the new delta lap thingy that let's you know how much you're up on your lap time, the new track of Baku is very good, hard to master at first but quite challenging, there's a couple glitches in the game but nothing too major, I'm finding it tougher to get the front end of the car into the corners which was easier on the previous game, I also find it harder to judge the braking on this game compared to the last game, the one thing I was hoping would be improved would be let's say a car ahead goes off the track and you go through perfectly fair, you will get a message saying slow down and give up position, this really kills off any chance of a win and it's just so annoying, there's also an error on the Suzuka track where there is only one DRS zone and isn't one in the third sector, I think online racing was better on the 2015 game but that's just my opinion.

Codemasters have been trying to listen to player feedback from the last game and have added (or re-added) a lot of features we wanted such as the safety car, a full career mode, a more refined style of navigation around menus creating a more professional feel among other things. The driving model feels solid and races are exciting with the ai drivers finally behaving as if they are thinking what is going on around them. F1 games are always difficult to present across to gamers as you are basically stuck with one type of car on a select number of tracks knowing you won't get any Dlc for more tracks or cars. It's not forza! It's not project cars!! Dont expect it to be like that!F1 games are for F1 fans who want to simulate as accurately as possible races and the feel of driving. If this isn't what you are looking for go elsewhere please :)

Ive been an F1 fan for years and have played the games ever since the N64 days. I also played F1 2015 extensively but, like others, was put off by the lack of features, customizations and the all important career mode which was absent from the game. This game, however, honestly takes things to a new level. I've been playing for about 7 hours in total and would certainly say this is the best F1 game that Codemasters have produced. It's packed with content and almost everything you could possibly ask for is there. The safety car returns, you have formation laps, manual starts, weather customization, R&D development which effects career progression, tonnes of information during races (which is actually useful!)and very realistic damage. It's quite incredible. I'm not sure if you get the VSC but when a game is this brilliant, who cares??

Review - 20th August 2016. After dusting my PS4, I fired it up and put in the latest version of F1. A great improvement over the 2015 version. Being playing it now for 5 hours, and I can say that the car is much smoother on track and that there loads of different displays that the player can view while driving. You can choose your own driver number, face, and change the texture of the colour on your helmet etc. I will keep you informed on the rest.Review up date 05/09/2016. I have just completed the first season in career mode and was demoted from the Mercedes team to Renault. Being a slower team (Renault), I am able to improve the car via upgrading particular areas of the car.I am know able to compete for the lead at every race. Another feature is that you have to manually hold the clutch in at the beginning of each race.

This is by far codemasters best work. The graphics are really impressive and look great on next gen consoles, the racing itself is very good AI drivers drive more realistic and behave differently per race. Good to have lots of off track action like contract talks, talks with your engineer, pa and team principle. The R&D has more point to it now where you can out perform faster teams if you put a lot of work into it. The whole game flows a lot better with this one and certainly recommend if you are a fan. Beats 2015 game hands down.great features in the gamecan put your own name into itcan select own helmetcan choose nationalityR&D now has a point to it and is fun to do it during a raceweekendcontract talksAI's have been improved and are a lot more realisticgraphics look superb and run smoothly

Probably the best f1 game Codemasters has ever produced. The career mode is much more immersive, tyre management is now as important in the game as it is in real life. Also the strategy adapts to what you do in the practice sessions which is very realistic. On the minus side, there are three things i would love to see, the addition of gp2 and gp3 in career mode (once you have paid for the FOM license, it cant be so much more expensive to add gp2 and gp3), real TV display for timing screens etc, and legendary cars like in f1 2013.Any questions welcome

I bloody love this game and F1 in general, so many positives to the game, graphics, gameplay, challenges... But what kills the game for me is the online game, it's brilliant but there's so many clowns on there who basically just set out to ruin people's races, I believe once player is lapped they should not longer be able to interfere in someone's race, you get to the point where you attempt an overtake hesitating as they'll probably turn in and kill your race, I totally pray this gets sorted in the next F1 game. Good day and clean racing folks.

25.8.2016

I've played all of the F1 games going back to 2010 but they all had flaws in one way or the other. This on the other hand is as close to perfect as it gets for an F1 game!+ Graphics are really beautiful,+ The AI has improved massively and you really feel you're in a battle when trying to over take+ You can create your own driver+ You can take one of the lower teams to the top now with R&D+ Safety car is back and formation lap has been added which is a nice touch. If you're an F1 fan you really have to get this!

20.8.2016

Vastly improved over 2015, I'm playing on PS4 with a G29 wheel and it's great fun.The force feedback is sooo much better than last year, you can really feel what the car is doing much better through the steering wheel just like real life, from when the back end is getting away from you to when your about to lock up the front wheel or wheels. This is key to helping you manage your tyre wear and deciding on the best pit stop strategy, which you can change on the fly.Highly recommend (especially with a wheel!)
