This is the second Evoluent mouse I`ve purchased. Used one for a couple months at work and then bought the second one for home. After a few years of pain in my right wrist finally this mouse does the job. It is pretty good for everyday use and keeps the arm in a relaxed position - much less stress and strain than other mice I`ve tried - Intellimouse 3.0, Logitech MX-1100.After the first day of using it carefully I noticed improvements - pain had minimized and wrist was still OK in the afternoon. After one week I noticed that pain still can reoccur if I get tired and start moving the mouse using wrist instead of whole hand it was designed.Wrist has to remain still and fixed. After one month I noticed that the joint between thumb and palm is hurting a little after I`ve spent hours leaning that place on top of mouse - the second problem when you get tired and start using the mouse in an easier but incorrect and non-ergonomic way.The good:*) It keeps palm in a vertical position thus relieving and almost eliminating pain in wrist*) It works via USB cable so is pretty lightweight and does not put too much stress on the wrist*) The residual on the outside of it can be easily cleaned and I find coating to be very good for everyday use.*) The driver utility is good for assigning custom actions to buttons - like "Ctrl+W", "Ctrl+Tab" and others. Drivers are very stable on Windows.*) nobody messes with my workstation at work - people get very confused when sitting in front of such fancy mouse and Microsoft Ergo 4000 keyboard with almost blank keys :)The bad:*) The driver often goes crazy on my Mac ( Macbook Air ~2010 year ), causing 100% CPU usage by "EvoluentAgent" and I can watch the temperature my Mac going all the way up till the boiling point (100*C, ~212*F) where it reboots and remains terribly hot. Otherwise the driver works good - except this overheating thing. It happens even when mouse is not plugged in. It should be fixed in order to use this mouse on Mac with customized buttons. Once "EvoluentAgent" is killed, everything goes good right away, the temperature drops. Uninstalled the Mac driver instantly after the second overheating to avoid any permanent damage.*) The button on top, right next to thumb gets pressed once in a while when grabbing the mouse. It should be more like "Logitech MX-1100"-style - a little smaller and harder to press. The same with the lowest button next to pinky - a little annoying while learning the correct way to grab a mouse. The neutral:*) Initially I was surprised to find out that the part next to pinky is actually the 3rd button. Didn`t expect that. It can be assigned a keystroke like "Ctrl+Tab" but it took a while to accept that this part is a button instead of a hard surface.Summing up the points I give this mouse 4 stars out of 5 - it is very good and almost eliminates pain in wrist when used correctly. This is the best ergonomic mouse I`ve tried. If you can cope with buggy Mac drivers and easy-to-click buttons then try a vertical mouse - for me it is very good.

Having suffered with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) for over 12 years in both hands, I finally resorted to having open release surgery following the recommendation of my consultant. Following surgery, I was advised by my occupational therapist that I needed to review my ergonomics when using a mouse and keyboard. As a heavy user of a PC at work (I am not an IT professional, but use a PC a great deal in my job), it was recommended that I consider a new input device instead of the traditional horizontal mouse. Initially, it was suggested that I consider using a vertical mouse, such as the Evoluent. However, I decided to investigate alternatives before making a final decision. As part of this process I tried a Bamboo touch tablet by Wacom and the Logitech M570 trackball mouse, which were both very good. Not being a heavy graphics software user, and also being so used to using a mouse, I found the transition to a pen and tablet a little awkward. I also found the trackball caused me to develop a sore thumb. I then decided to investigate the Evoluent mouse and read the many reviews online. I also watched several YouTube review videos. Initially, I was put off by the high cost when compared to other 'traditional' mice. Finally, I took the plunge and ordered the Evoluent mouse from Amazon. I am so pleased I did. The mouse does exactly what it is meant to do - place your hand in the neutral vertical position. As I still have a fresh scar from surgery and am still very sore and tender, I have found the Evoluent mouse to be excellent and helpful when relieving the pressure on my carpal tunnel and the median nerve. The mouse is constructed of materials similar to a good quality mouse - but doubt it will last forever (nothing does!). I have also found the mouse simple to configure with the driver downloaded from the manufacturer's website. It installed very easily on my Windows 7 x64 PC. My only slight issue is the bright Evoluent light and the green tracking sensitivity lights - but let's face it, you don't look at your mouse when using your PC. If you have TCS or RSI, don't hesitate - buy one! I wish I had done so well before my surgery. Another tip, visit the Evoluent website before ordering to ensure you buy the correct size. The website includes a downloadable hand template that you can print out for the large mouse. This will enable you to confirm the correst size of mouse to buy. My wife finds the large Evoluent mouse too big for her hand, but it is just perfect for me. If you have multiple accounts on your PC, you may need to consider using two input devices to suit the hand sizes of all users. Finally, like all specialist equipment, it needs to be reduced in price.

Having changed jobs and been given a laptop I found my old ergonomic mouse would not plug into the laptop! I quickly started to to get pain back again in my hand/arm and neck and was desperate for a solution. I read up on the subject and decide to buy this mouse as one of 3 to try (an expensive way to do things but as I couldn't find any to try in the shops and I was in pain, I wanted a quick solution). For info I use a MAC at home and a windows PC at work. This is a very good looking mouse with a fantastic tactile non-slip rubberised mouse surface (which is a pleasure to hold and seems to aid grip). It requires you to hold your hand almost at right angles to the desk, like shaking hands. This stops you having to twist your arm round to hold your hand palm face down (which is what you have to do with a normal mouse). I plugged it straight into my MAC at home and it worked first time and was EXTREMELY comfortable. At work on my windows laptop it did not seem to work properly (the cursor would not move around the screen properly and was very slow and jerky) which I felt was perhaps down to me not downloading the software required. I didn't do this download the software because it was my mouse and I would have to explain to our IT dept why I wasn't using standard issue Company equipment!More expensive than the Speed-link ergonomic mouse, which I also bought and is very similar, its design and feel is definitely more upmarket. It feels good to use and and works perfectly on my MAC (I've had it a couple weeks now). Best of all my pain has now gone. I recommend this product to anyone with a MAC and I'm sure with a bit more perseverance than I showed it would probably work just as well on a PC. NB because of its design it is taller than your average mouse (around 7.5cms). I only mention this as if you to use a slide out draw to position your mouse and keyboard you may not be able to close it with this mouse in it - I can't but that hasn't really bothered me at all, I'm too happy with it.For info I also ordered the 3M Ergonomic mouse and did not get on well with it at all. Even just by holding it for a while just to get the feel of it (before trying to plug it in) my arm/shoulder/neck started hurting. I did not pursue trying to use it the other 2 mice I ordered felt so much better.

This mouse has been an absolute Godsend ! I started suffering from RSI and tried this. I must say it too about a week to get used to it. I am 3D styling so I sit in front of a computer for about 38 hours per day and I use all three butttons. On a normal mouse I use the index finger for the left mouse button and the middle finger for middle mouse button (or scrolly) and right button but with this I had to get used to using index for left, middle for middle and the ring and pinky for the right. (you can install the drivers so that the buttons are configured like a normal mouse but Ive found that this method utlises my fingers better so Ive stuck with it)Like I said it took about a week to get used to but I cannot stress how much of a difference it has made to my life. I can work all day with absolutely zero hand, wrist finger, muscle or any other pains or complaints. The only reason why I have not awarded this product a full five stars is because after about four years the left mouse button sensor became faulty and when I clicked on it once it behaved as if it had been clicked multiple times. I contacted Evoluent but did not receive a reply. Seeing as there is nothing that can compete with this mouse I just bought another one. I do use my mouse a LOT, a lot more than an average mouse is used so I guess it has suffered but it just doesn't feel as robust as a Microsoft mouse. If/when this one breaks I will buy another one.Another great bonus is that a lot of people are amazed at the appearance of the mouse and often ask questions about it, they assume that I must be really good at my job (which I am) So it has the potential to provide many fascinating conversations, or if you can't be bothered to do any work one day you can just squint your eyes slightly and look towards one of the top corners of your monitor while tapping the mouse. You'll look like you're thinking about a very complex mathematical equation and the tapping will draw attention to the mouse so everyone will just look at you and think 'Wow, I wonder what time that handsome guy's gonna solve the meaning of life'

I am 56, and work in full-time administrative role requiring me to use a computer all day. I had been using a normal mouse for years, with no problems. However, I started getting stiffness in the middle joints in my fingers a few months ago. I went to the doctor, had a blood test to rule our rheumatoid arthritis (which it did) and the only conclusion was that I had RSI. I was advised by my colleague to book an appointment with the health person in HR at work. I did this, and my IT department provided me with an Evoluent mouse. To say I hated it at first is an understatement. I was thinking "No way will I ever get used to this!" However, somebody else at work who had been provided with the same mouse said that I needed to persevere,so I did. I had to admit, it caused no pain in my hand as the regular mouse had done, but I found it very hard to use accurately. I decided to initially keep both the Evoluent mouse and the regular mouse so I had a choice. I was slow with the Evoluent mouse so made a point of using it for just a part of each day. I did this for about two weeks, and gradually I found I was using the Evoluent mouse more and more, until one day I realised I hadn't used the regular mouse for a whole day. At that point, I gave the regular mouse back to IT. I have now fully adjusted and find the Evoluent mouse as easy to use as the regular mouse, but now I'm comfortable so it's finally become a win-win situation. My fingers no longer click or give me pain, and in the end, I actually found that when I was using my computer at home, I found I was missing my work Evoluent mouse. I only use my home laptop for personal use, so obviously I couldn't ask work for another Evoluent mouse for home. I therefore decided that to have the same comfort at home for £80 was well worth it, and I have therefore purchased the same mouse for myself to use at home, and I am very happy that I have done so. Please note this is a completely unbiased review, I'd never even heard of 'Evoluent' before getting the mouse at work.

I have severe nerve damage due to carpal tunnel because I used a computer mouse for over 25 yrs non stop until my left hand could take it no more. I was left handed but forced to use my right hand. I will never use another normal mouse again.I am a avid mmorpg gamer and worried this would not work with the games such as rift, neverwinter, everquest 2 online games. I tell you it works perfectly for me.I had no learning curve, all I did was download the drivers to use more of the buttons. The small fits my hand perfectly I wear a size 7 USA size glove. The thumb rest is so comfortable, buttons easily reached, along with the scroll wheel.I am giving 5 stars with my gratitude because of this mouse I can play my games again and use a mouse for work as long as the mouse is evoluent. One word of warning the vertical mouse is large so do not think you can use a small mouse mat. I am back on amazon looking for a large hard surface mouse pad. I bought the kennsington wave that has red and black gel wrist rest. The pad is awesome and the mouse glides across the surface, but the problem is the surface is to small. If someone could tell me which Mousepad they recommend with this that has a large surface I would appreciate it.I am buying another evoluent today that is wireless, and one for my husband that is larger. Thank You again for in my opinion a perfect beautiful vertical mouse. One suggestion you only made a colored one in purple but I would also like to see the wireless come in different colors and sizes. I am going to try and use the left handed one with my left hand to see if I can use the hand again so I bought the left handed grey one even though I find the color boring. I love the red lights for dpi settings and also green logo. Keep up the great work and thank you again

Like many other RSI sufferers, I spent a considerable amount of time looking into alternatives to the standard mouse. Although there are a lot of opinions out there, and different solutions that have worked for different people, I couldn't find a definitive answer, and in the end opted to give the Evoluent product a go.My first impressions were mixed, and for the first couple of weeks I was very concerned that I had made an expensive mistake. However, you have to remember that if you already suffer with RSI, then it is not going to disappear overnight! Also, you need to be very disciplined and ensure you hold this mouse as intended; it is all too easy to place your hand over it like a standardmouse.Make sure you use the downloadable software to customize the buttons; there are a lot of very good options. It can be particularly useful to program one of the buttons to act as a 'double click' which cuts down the number of clicks you need to do. Also, be sure to set the sensitivity as high as possible. It take a while to get used to, but really cuts down on the amount of movement you need. So, one month on? I am totally thrilled with this mouse, and my pain has pretty much gone. By week three, my pain was starting to subside and I was no longer requiring a daily dose of ibuprofen after a hard days computer work. I have gone from being in constant pain, to being virtually pain free. This mouse will not be for everyone. Crucially, you need to be sure that your mouse is the primary cause of your pain, and not other things, such as your keyboard, posture, desk etc. Typically, mouse pain is noticeable by pain in your lower arm and/or wrist. But as part of an ergonomic solution in the battle to prevent or treat RSI, I heartily recommend it.

I've had a v3 for quite a few years now for at work and decided that I wanted one for home too so I decided to buy a second. Now the first one I have to say is working perfectly despite the fact that the little slider pads underneath have completely worn off due to wear (I use it over 8 hours a day). But it works fine and I can't live without it!The second one I bought 11 months ago but it went weird on me about 4 months later, Amazon kindly replaced it with a new one which has been working fine up until now. Seven months after receiving my replacement, the mouse is starting to show exactly the same symptoms which are: mouse randomly freezes for anything from half a second to 5 seconds or forgetsthat you were holding down a mouse button while dragging and dropping so you end up dropping in the wrong place. After a few more sever freezes it will lockup and the only way to get it to work again is unplug it and plug it back in, if that doesn't work a restart is required. My findings so far:- it's nothing to do with drivers because I have taken my one from work (the good old one) and tried it at home and it works fine, I then tried my home one (the new one) at work and it judders and and freezes.- on the off chance that it might help, I tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them but I noticed no improvement at all. Both computers are running windows7 pro 64bit.I'd love to recommend these mice as they are very close to being vertical unlike some that I have seen but the build quality in my opinion isn't great and I am loosing faith in them. But at the same time I love my old one!I have asked for a replacement again and hopefully this one will last longer...

Of the several brands and designs of vertical mice, the Evoluent is clearly the best - two others had been tried and found lacking in some way. It is smooth on the desktop when most of the others are not and evreything is where it should be without being overloaded with pointless extras. It is wired when several others of this style are wireless and also rather expensive when compared to a standard design mouse of equivalent quality. However, there is a single word of caution; the large (sometimes also described as 'Standard' is quite large and actually too large for my reputedly large hands (but with short fingers). Reaching and operating the mouse buttons is easy but the scroll wheel is uncomfortably slightly out of reach and a requires an undesirable change of grip. The Small version, which is surprisingly more expensive, may better suit if this is too large for you.If personal circumstances make a standard mouse difficult for you, this may be the solution but you will then have to accept the expense - or get someone else to pay for it.Evoluent clearly understand their probable market. Not only is the mouse sold in two sizes, it is also available in a left-handed version. With the current trend towards sculpted designs, they are one of the very few within technology who recognise that not all are naturally right-handed.

I began looking into ergonomic mice after developing severe pains in my hand and wrist. I spend many hours a day at the desk as a CAD user and I had to find a way to ease the discomfort. After looking at a number of reviews I decided to give this one a try.At first a struggled to get used to the different orientation and button layout and in the first couple of days I wondered if I had wasted the company's money. It's a very expensive device compared to a normal mouse (and I had to convince my boss this was a worthwhile purchase).Well, by the end of the week I had got the hang of this new mouse. Now I would not be without it.Combined with taking regular short breaks and wrist/arm exercises I now find I can manage much longer days before the discomfort becomes a problem. As a SolidWorks user I found the supplied drivers caused some of the Solidworks mouse button functions to be lost, which drove me mad until I tried the standard Windows mouse drivers. Now everything works as it should. I have had the same problem in the past with Logitech mouse drivers too, so I shan't knock any points off for this.I have found the optical tracking to be accurate on most surfaces, so full marks here too.I have not tried any other ergo mice so I cannot make comparisons. All I can say is that this one has made a huge difference for me.

My last mouse broke and I was looking at something while I wait for a CST L-trac (not in stock at the moment).I've tried with the Logitech MX Vertical, but I don't like the fact that the base of the mouse is slightly raised. Plus, buttons (especially the middle one) are quite hard to press, and you can especially feel that if your hand is placed to the side. Finally, that mouse feels a bit small for my hands, and I feel like I can't hold it with my whole hand, but with my fingertips only (it hurts if I tried to hold all of it)Then I thought of returning the MX Vertical and trying the Evoluent V4... absolutely brilliant! The hand rests naturally on the mouse, being able to hold all of it.The inclination feels just right. The mouse is quite precise, and it allows you to move the cursor quite fast on the screen. And the buttons are the best of all! They are so soft! Plus, at least on Windows, it's not the scroll wheel click what triggers the middle mouse button, but actually the second large button. That's brilliant! It's so much easier to press. The mouse has a shape that supports the pinky finger, which is also quite nice. Finally, it's Bluetooth (yay!)To sum up, this is the most convenient and comfortable mouse I've ever tried. Totally recommended!

I've been using the Evoluent Vertical Mouse for a little over a month now and I can honestly say I am very happy with my purchase. I didn't find the learning curve too steep and I was using the mouse with ease after a few days. The major benefit I received is an approximate 85-95% reduction in wrist, arm and shoulder pain since using this mouse. The only negatives I have found are as follows:1. There is no driver support for Windows 7 x64 (although every other Windows version is covered) but this is not really a problem as the mouse still works perfectly, you just can't re-program the buttons to do anything different.2.I find whilst browsing the web that I sometimes accidently hit a button with my ring finger that causes the back button in my browser to activate and sends me back a page. Not a major issue, but a little annoying.3. This mouse is no good for gaming. If you play a lot of games on your PC that require a mouse, this is not the mouse for you. I have found that it works perfectly for all other PC related tasks (internet, word processing etc).Overall though, I would highly recommend this product for anyone with hand, wrist, arm or shoulder pain caused by RSI. Well worth the high price tag for the pain relief I have received.

Ideal for the smaller hands of ladies and teens for whom the standard 'Large' version may be too big. Although male with moderately large hands, with the 'Large' version its controls were almost uncorfortably out of reach. With this version, they are well-placed.Operation is extremely smooth on the desktop and the controls initially functioned very well and smoothly. However, after a couple of days, the user - with somewhat arthritic fingers and other related issues - was finding it increasingly difficult to control; sometimes things worked, but not always. Whether a problem with the mouse or personally is uncertain but, although less comfortable, working with another standard mouse is perfectly normal and feasible. When ordered, the price of the model was rather less than is currently advertised, and therefore the value was substantially better at the lower amount. If a standard mouse is not what you require and you have the types of issues for which this type of design is ideal, then you will probably need to bite the bullet. You can find similar designs at far lower prices, but this is an instance where you definitely get what you pay for. The Evoluent products stand more than head and shoulders above the remainder.

I thought nothing could beat the old Evoluent Mouse 3, but now I have the 4 - and it's awesome. Everything from the slightly tweaked design to the purely visual back lit logo all scream quality. If you've ever suffered from hand, wrist or arm pain after mouse use, try this baby out.Even if you own one of the other upright mice (mouses??) out there - including other Evoluent models - This one delivers on all those little things you knew could improve the others: Better pinky support so now no part of the hand touches the mouse-mat, extra thumb button (as a gamer this was the clincher!), improved contact points between mouse and surface, and better, on the fly access to the mouse DPI settings is a god-send for Photoshopping.Even the driver software is just packed with tons of options. I seriously can't for the life of me understand why people use normal horizontal mice anymore with stuff like this out there.Pros:Good size for people with large hands (they offer a small size too, oh and left handers).6 buttons make this a competitive gaming mouse.Comfortable from the word go.On the fly DPI settings.Nice Rubberized feel on the palm.Cons:Not the cheapest mouse out there.

I was suggested this mouse several years ago when hurt my shoulder and my work desk setup had to be adjusted to support this. I had issues extending my shoulder to the right so I was encouraged to work with a wireless keyboard with a floating number pad, and the Evoluent mouse. It worked very well for many years and I was very happy with it.Since the COVID lock down, I have been working from home and purchased the small version of this mouse. It took me a few days to get re-acquainted with the feel and usage but once back into it - it has been really comfortable. My glove size is 7.5 so I border small/normal size according to the guidance. I prefer the smaller one as it fits my calm comfortably and I am a bit more nimble with it.The thumb rest has a smooth feel to it as well which I prefer. I went back to the normal size one and whilst it is fine, I prefer the smaller size where possible. The purple colour was also really nice - I know it has not impact on the usage but i love seeing it!The programable buttons are also very handy and easy to setup. We have this on our iMac installed the accompanying software to ensure additional buttons can be programmed.
