I don't think you can do any better for a soft-sided travel bag.I went the soft-sided route as a) I couldn't find any hard-sided cases that would fit my modern XL full sus mountain bike, and b) I heard that hard sided cases can be flat out rejected by the airlines as they might not fit in the luggage holds of smaller planes.Anyway, at this point I've flown with the bag 7 times. 6 of those times went off without issue. On one occasion my saddle was bent, suggesting a pretty crushing blow from above. I think the sad reality is that even with the best soft bag, damage will always be a possibility. Make sure you are comfortable with that, check the bike when picking it up (although don't expect much from the airlines),and carry insurance for major damage. On the positive side, the bag is really well built. The stand and removable wheel are both really nice touches that make life substantially easier. It fits my massive 29er with room to spare, too.In terms of packing, I've got it down to about 30 minutes to pack/unpack. I go above and beyond the EVOC instructions in four ways:1. I remove the rotors and place them in a ziplock bag between sheets of cardboard. It just seems unnecessarily risky to leave them on given how easy they are to remove/reattach. Just be sure to not get oil on them in the process.2. I lock the derailleur open, remove it, and ziptie it inside of the chain stays (keeping the chain on). Again, easy to do and removes one major avenue for damage.3. After removing the pedals, I ziptie the crank to the chainstay just to keep it from moving around.4. I protect the frame with cut up pool noodles, attached with zip ties. The goal here is to project from sharp impacts (a metal rail, for example).Getting the handlebars right has taken some iterations, too. The best I've come up with so far is to attach them low (so that only the grip sticks up above the frame), keep them loose, and then use something (rags, bubble wrap) to wrap the lower controls that might rub up against the fork. All that said, now that Delta (and others) aren't charging extra for bikes (so with status or the credit card, they're generally free), this bag has already paid for itself and more via not having to rent. Also, I get to have my bike, set up exactly the way I want it.

Bought this as a replacement for hard plastic case. Very happy after 2 flights. Spacious, lightweight with several practical solutions. Plenty of space for my 29 '' enduro bike in size L
