UPDATE: 3So in exactly 5 weeks, I have lost 6.5kg (1stone 5lbs 5oz). If you look at the pictures of the trend you can see that I peaked at 98.15kg, on 20th May, 2019, and today, 30th June, 2019, I now weigh 91.65kg. My body fat has also gone into the “acceptable” green area, though it’s on the cusp at 25%. My next target is to get to under 90kg by this time next week. You’ll also notice from the last graph that yesterday I was actually 93.20kg. I scoffed a full carton of pork fried rice on Friday night (28th) after running 7.5km (4.5miles). I also ate half a large box of Maltesers and a dinner before running of fried noodles and steak with veg around 400g. Breakfast was a bacon sandwich (Aldi (and I’m sure other supermarkets)do reduced fat bacon medallions which are only 58 Calories per two medallions). (This was my binge day.) However, I actually finished off the previous normal bacon which are 98 Calories for two rashers. So how did I drop over 1.5kg in a day?It wasn’t water loss, I actually drank over 4.5litres of water yesterday because it was 29degC. How I did it was I worked out with some resistance bands available on Amazon here (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01MZHL27K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which I did a 60minute work out with, plus 3 sets of press ups, ab crunches, and sit ups. I also walked around 6.5km in the evening. I ate half a fish shop battered cod with fried baby potatoes, and had another bacon sandwich for breakfast and just 4 Ryvita (rye) crackers with butter and cheese for supper. Yet, I lost over 1.5kg, which proves once you start to weight train (resistance train) you can accelerate the process. The resistance bands are great and I highly recommend them. Thus my further advice for rapid, healthy and consistent weight loss is contained within the rest of this review. You can see the evidence and it all started with these scales. My target of 82kg by 7th August, 2019, when I go to Cyprus for my holidays looks possible, if I raise my game. At current weight loss rates of 6.5kg per 5 weeks, I’ll miss the target. However, I am going to train every day with the bands, and let’s see if I do it. If you really want to lose weight:1) Buy these scales2) Measure yourself using the App every morning before breakfast but after doing your “ablutions”.3) Limit your calorie intake, try to cut at least 200 calories out per day by cutting biscuits and crisps.4) Walk for 20-30mins a day until you’ve lost 2kg. Then start increasing the intensity of working out.5) Add some resistance band training or go to the gym.6) Always have one day when you binge.7) Make your own chicken soup and have it at least once a week!8) Develop willpower to walk past McDs and KFC (the greatest evil on the planet!)9) Go once a month into either KFC or McDs as your binge day.10) Believe in yourself and think of the health benefits to yourself and your kids/family and friends.UPDATE: 2HELPFUL WEIGHT LOSS TIP......This morning, I got on the scales and was shocked at how I’d put on weight (mass) after my Friday night binge. (After running 9km, I was shocked, even though I rewarded myself with some pork fried rice). I’d put on 700gms (0.7kg). However, I remembered the advice I’d given when I first reviewed, always weigh at the same time of day. Of course, it’s also about when you weigh in your morning routine. I’d forgotten to do my ablutions (!!!!) and after that I’d only put on 150gms (0.15kg). You see how important it is to weigh yourself after the loo? I was shocked before going and much happier after going. It also illustrates a point too that you should have one day when you take on more calories and eat rubbish.UPDATE: 1These scales with their combined app, have helped me to lose weight. In 10 days, I’ve lost 2.2kgs by just cutting down my portions (marginally) and adding 30 minutes of walking every second day to my normal routine. I’m a bit sedentary at the moment due to deadlines at work and working from home. Had I been actively in and out of the office, I would have added around an additional 30mins of brisk walking. The secret is to use the scales every day (at the same time) and monitor the trends in the app every day. There’s a great feature that shows your basal metabolic rate. It can show you the number of calories you have used, and the number you need to maintain weight. If the BMR is higher, then you are burning calories to lose weight. I’m consistently burning 300-500 over what will maintain weight, which means I’m losing weight. Of course, you need a smidgem of willpower, but having a visual track is important and highly motivational. I’m aiming to lose 10kg by the beginning of August, so I have a clear target. That’ll get me back to my ideal weight (athletic build) which due to major surgery and an accident after the surgery caused my surge (along with bad habits excused by the surgery and accident) in weight. I highly recommend these scales, and as you can see by the newly added photo, you can keep them in the same place because they are the exact same size as a ceramic floor tile. As mentioned in the main review, you should reduce moving your scales to a minimum and keep them in the same place. Obviously, floor cleaning requires movement, but with these fitting in a standard tile, you can put them back in the same place. (Same place means same level, means same force, therefore same readings conditions.) BUY THEM! SUMMER’S COMING AND SO’S THE BEACH!PROS:1) Easy to use and to set up.2) Accuracy3) Great Value for Money (at £16.99 = Bargain)4) Informative and useful app5) Quality construction.6) Multiple user profiles on same device or different (mobile) device.Cons:NO APPARENT CONSI often laugh at the comments/reviews of products on Amazon. Some of the people on here are totally unrealistic. They pay a comparatively small amount for a product and they expect military specification outcomes! These scales cost me £16.99, apparently reduced from nearly £50. Therefore, I am not going to say that these scales are out by 0.001kg (One thousandth of a kilogramme (otherwise known as a gram)) or the body water content is out by 0.05% (5 hundredths of a percent). If you expect this level of accuracy, then you need to be paying in the hundreds of pounds, not less than £20! In any case, weight and any form of body measurement is a relative concept when applied to an individual. This is why there are multiple measurements to give a fuller picture of your body composition.BMI or Body Mass Index is a ready reckoner. It’s not a good way to measure your relative weight, unless it’s against previous readings. The reason is because it’s a simple calculation which works out your weight divided by your height. This gives a measure of grams per centimetre of height. Some people have dense bones, like my wife, yet she is a very slim size 8, with an athletic body. Thus, considering how much bone, fat, water and muscle mass makes your total mass up needs to be considered with the BMI.(Here’s another point for laymen: when you stand on scales, you’re measuring mass, not weight. Weight is the effects of gravity on mass, otherwise known as force. Force is measured in Newtons, not kilogrammes. To work out your weight, you need to multiply your Mass (in kg) by the acceleration due to Gravity which is 9.81 metres per second per second. That will calculate your Weight!)Aside from the physics lesson, these are excellent scales. In fact, it doesn’t matter if you pay £100 or £10 for scales as long as you maintain consistency. In other words, measure yourself at the 1) SAME time of day, on the 2) SAME scales, and 3) NEVER move the scales. Each time you move the scales they lose accuracy. Always use the scales on 4) HARD ground NEVER on carpet, and on EVEN/LEVEL ground. Even with cheap scales, you will have a mass accurate enough for comparison. If your weight goes up on your cheap scales, it doesn’t really matter whether it’s bang on or not, only that relative to your previous weight it’s gone up. This is PROVIDING you have followed my instructions with maintaining relative accuracy, it won’t matter about your scales. These scales are excellent because they’re probably the cheapest that link to an app. Obviously there are privacy issues with an app, but as a tool to manage your health via relative measurements they are excellent. You cannot get a set of scales with this level of functionality anywhere else. BUY THEM....ignore the negative reviews, these are Dottore approved.

6 week Update:For weight loss, I am happy to set the goal and monitor it day by day - you know what happens so that you can build healthier habits, not simply diet and exercise! Just tap the screen to view your trend by week, month, and year, or select the date to see your weight change from morning to evening. Two minors though:- You can set preferred time for the trend (am, pm or all day) . It's very useful as you want to monitor your measurements in the same time everyday. For me, it's a bit annoying. I want to monitor my weight in the morning but I need to select 'Prefer Time' every time I open the app. The app is not smart enough to save my preference!- It stopped connecting to the app once.I simply reinstall the batteries and it works. some people may complain but with an engineering degree I understand this happens to electronic devices.I'm not marking it down for these two minor issues. It remains lovely and I love the way it functions. My original review:+ Ergonomic design and stylish looking+ Good material and quality construction+ High accuracy (0.05 kg / 0.2 lb) and great reproducibility+ Great value (<20 quids = no-brainer)+ Easy to setup app and multiple user profiles+ Large and comfortableOpen the box and it's ready to weigh yourself (the video). For things smart, just install and open VeSyncFit, enter your height/age/sex, set your goal then pair the app with your mobile by clicking the + symbol on the top right of the screen then 'device management', then select 'Etckcity Fitness Scale' , then all your data will appear in front of you...I found this scale extremely easy to set up, and it works beautifully. I am planing to lose weight and will monitor my progress use this smart gadget!

So I had this delivered yesterday, and with any woman who hasn't stood on the scales will know, we go through all sorts of emotions before we do. Now I stood on the scales and was both horrified and relieved, I was still in the same stone range as before...just at the latter end of the scale, OK Girl, you got this, you can sort this.I must say these scales are so easy to set up and the app downloads in seconds and so far has been great....except it's backwards, or that is my excuse anyway, it told me my metabolic age was 52, yes 52, in the flash of an eye I am 7.5 years older, hence why i believe it is backwards, surely i should be years younger :D i mean come on,who really is brave enough to tell someone they are older than their years?? Whatever way you look at it, it left me with 2 choices, either I let my emotions get the better of me, or i embrace the challenge it set me.Challenge accepted, gym kit purchased, healthy eating commenced and what's more, the husband even jumped on board, the scales lied to him to, it added just 4 years onto him...surely he can't be ageing slower than me.So short version, the scales are great, the information is comprehensive, easy to set up and link to your phone/smart device. what you do with that information it tells you is down to you, you can choose to bury yourself in chocolate or change your ways. Myself, i found it very eye opening and it has inspired change.I have also down loaded the my fitness pal app to track calories which could be a great addition along with the information received on the scales.

I am on an intermittent fast-quest to loose some weight and improve my health, and one of the tools we need to measure our results are scales! So I have these old-school scales but when I saw the special offer on Amazon for these scales I couldn't resist.I downloaded the APP for my android which was easy to find in the App Store. And it filled in my age and height and name. Then I noticed the scales already giving readings!? I was unknowingly putting pressure on the scale on my knee without realising the App and scales had paired ?!? Insanely seamless.OK so I stood on the scales in the bedroom, and my phone next door made a melodic sound indicating that all measurements had been taken.Boom that was simple. You don't have to do anything else, simply step on the scales, no button press needed, and have your app on the phone open, thats it!Absolutely a steal for the price I paid. Couln't have asked for more.I can not tell you if the scales will last a long time or not, only had them a day, but I will come back and adjust this review if the longevity isn't up to scratch. The build quality so far is impressive.

These things are solid and sturdy. They look great with the black glass too.The 1st time i install the app (on a Samsung Note 9) it picked up the scales and measured my stats well. I could not get it to connect the 2nd time though (hence the 3 stars for the app). I removed the app and no joy. I then tried it with my wife's phone (a Samsung S9) as she'd not used it yet and it worked straight away. I eventually discovered that the app did not like my phone also being connected to my smart watch via Bluetooth. Once I disconnected my watch it picked up the scales and that method seems to work every time I use them. The accuracy of the weight seems spot on and other stats appear to be right but I haven't got another set of smart scales to go off for comparison.I only use those as a guide anyway. The app layout is not bad, easy to read all of your stats and trends, my only issue is with the flakey connectivity. They seem good for the price.

I actually bought these scales not expecting too much... but the price was right and I really didn't want to splash out on Fitbit's Aria 2 scales. Compared to Aria 2 scales, these scales seem to add 1% body fat and a little weight also but I wouldn't be able to tell you which scales are the most precise. (Body fat is notoriously hard to measure anyway and I am not that concerned about having perfectly calibrated scales).I have rarely used scales in the past but I now use these on a daily basis (part of morning routine) and the data always seem to sync across to the Fitbit app rather well, a bit too well ;-)Somehow entries seem to double register in the Fitbit app but these are easily deleted and not a big deal considering the price difference with official Fitbit scales.Overall really happy with this purchase... and in the words of Peter Drucker: "What Gets Measured Gets Managed" and that indeed seems to be the case here also.

Superb scales. Combined with the app you will get a greater sense of your bodys weight, fat, water, muscle mass etc etc. The bright red led readout is brill as you can clearly see your weight on the scales. The design is sleek and classy, black glass with the sensors built into the glass. It looks more expensive than it is... And considering you twin this with an app via Bluetooth the price point is just great. These scales also use AAA batteries not those little coin batteries which cost the earth to replace. If you're in the market for a new set of scales then buy these. Accuracy wise.... Not sure 100% whether they are spot on but they seem to measure consisently and measured my weight thesame standing on them several times and read the weight that I thought I was so ye I think they're accurate enough. Overall these are going to be great to monitor the families weight and water intake etc etc.

Maybe in vain but I was hoping that tracking my weight will be similar to tracking our energy useage with the energy meter. I now actively watch and check what's on and the useage has come down, so why not with a scale I thought! After a couple of hours of research I decided on this unit. Yes you can go for Withings, Xiaomi and others that are all more expensive but to be fair they all seem to do the same thing. The killer for these gadgets is normally not the electronics but the associated app's. Arrived in 36 hours (thanks Amazon) and it is simply brilliant, app works without fail, the scales are slim but weighty enough not to slide around on the floor etc.Not able to compare against anything else so knocked off 1 star but will check and review later if I get the chance. With a 2 year warranty I hope on this occassion you get more than what you pay for. Would happily recommend to anyone.

I've only had these scales for 1 day, but I'll add to this review if anything changes in the future. They are very accurate. I put a 5kg weight plate on the scales and it came up as 5kg, so yeah. It weighs.I also tried the scales on different surfaces like kitchen tiles and thin carpet. As long as you calibrate first by stepping on then off, you'll get the same results (in my experience)The app is ok, nothing amazing. My only use for it is changing the scales to weigh in lbs, kgs and stones. It's a bit annoying you can't just adjust this setting on the scales.I'm not sure how accurate the body composition charts are, I have nothing to compare it to.I would recommend them for the money, but I have to remove a star from the overall rating just for the fact you can't change the measurements (lbs, kgs and stones) on the scales manually. Only through the app!

Got these scales because of how cheap they were. I didn't realise it came with Bluetooth and an app which I found really cool. The app syncs with Google fit so I can keep track of my nutrition and weight. You can set reminders on your app to weigh yourself and add multiple accounts so you can use it with the family. There's 12 measurements from BMI to visceral fat and water content. I'm really pleased with these as I am getting much better insight into my health.Scales come with a 1 year warranty and you can extend it by going to the site and pasting your Amazon order number to get the warranty extended for another year. Their website is for the US but you can buy from Amazon. The website also shows you further deals the company has on Amazon for other appliances.

Seems good value, all seems to work well - very sensitive to the surface it's on though, make sure you choose somewhere solid to place it. The Vsynchfit app appears to do what it does perfectly well, though it's a bit basic. It would be nice to be able to synch weight readings with myfitnesspal directly for instance, though it looks like the only way to do it is by synching with fitbit.com, then synching fitbit.com with myfitnesspal - (you don't need a fitbit) device, just a login for the site. I've got this to work a bit, though it seems to be a little flakey so far tbh, not the scales fault - seems to be issues with myfitnesspal or fitbit - synching with google fit seems to work fine.

26.6.2019

I just got this today and I'm amazed at the technology. It syncs seamlessly to the app with no configuration needed and tell you so much information on the app and if you tap the results it also tells you if the range of low, normal or high (or with other terminologies depending on the figure you pick)Ive bough for weight loss and knowing how much body fat and muscle mass I have and to make sure I'm not losing muscle but fat.The app has a trends feature to show you results weekly, monthly and yearly so you don't need another app that sells your data(myfitnesspal)Also I bought it on a sale for £17.99 but at the current price of £19.99 I still think it's a complete bargain.

25.5.2019

These are some of the best scales I have purchased. They come well presented, have a manufacturers warranty and excellent value for moneyThings I like : Stylish, weight measurements relatively accurate, come with free measuring tape, app easy to set up and helps keep a trac of your progress and goals, can add more than one user in app, scale can be recalibrated to ensure accuracy, different units of measurements allowed and comes with batteries.Things to consider : I have never had any measurements such as protein and bone mass taken before so can't comment on accuracy. Definitely a good indicator though and good to know however.

12.7.2020

Honestly, I expected generic Chinese tat. But this scale actually has a very well designed user experience, all the way from unboxing, where I found some little 'gifts' like a tape measure and clear instructions through to the app. The app worked perfectly, and synced to the scale without me having to do anything. It even let me use it without creating an account (one of my pet hates - I don't trust these companies with my data). Lastly it all synced with Google Fit again without fuss or error. Scale seems solid and well made. I'm shocked how good this is for the price. Only one small problem, it seems to claim I'm overweight ...

27.5.2019

Somehow the mobile app and the device connects very effectively. I have had no issues with re-connecting considering the mobile phone is often out of range and I never have to reregister the device on bluetooth. The mobile app gives a good set of metrics in addition to weight, such as BMI, skeletal muscle and BMR with trends by day. However there is no way to verify how accurate this data is. It also supports multiple profiles so you can monitor trends for the whole family without issue. Nevertheless this has been an invaluable tool for weight loss and improving health as provide a lot of valuable data for _healthy_ weight loss.
