Got this as a early father's day present and this is the daddy of all hammers.I find it better balanced than the 24oz framing hammer nice in the hand and a big hitter. It's moves large timber with ease. If you are doing first fix this is the hammer of choice and drives 4 inch nails with ease. Takes a bit of getting used to with the long handle but it's not a problem. I think out of all the hammers I have this is by far my favourite mega tool in the right hands .I see a few people have remarked on the quality which puzzles me. I have never had a bad estwing hammer and i have ones that are 30 years old.All I can say is if your doing framing or first fix this is a must buy item

I agree with both previous reviewers to some extent. This is a big heavy hammer. I posted a pic of it above because I couldn't believe how big it was. I'm over 6 ft. tall and weigh 220 and I wouldn't use this hammer in the house without choking up on the handle. It's like swinging an axe. That said, I could probably drive railroad spikes with it outdoors (with eye protection for sure, I wouldn't want a steel spike chip in my eye). I bought this hammer after the head snapped off my last two wooden handle hammers while using the claw. This hammer looked like a crowbar with a head on it in pictures I saw so I bought it as my last hammer. I'm pretty sure it will last centuries.

THE GOODBest hammer I ever used, always used long handle heavy hammers (22oz+) and this feels lighter than others for being a 25oz... Milled face for no slip. It's an estwing (will not break)17.5 inches total lengthHead face is 1.5 inches wideClaw is larger than regular estwingsTHE BADHard on the shoulders/forearms if your not used to swinging a bigger hammerDoesnt have a side nail pulledDoesnt have a magnetic nail starterAlmost 3 inches longer than a regular estwing(bad/good on your preference)Cheapest, toughest and longest lasting hammer your gonna get for the price. If your doing any type of real framing/heavy work buy this or the 28oz.

This hammer is a monster. If you are looking for a tool that gets the job done, this one will do the trick. The extra length at 18 inches gives you great leverage when denailling or any other type of prying. The large face makes it look good and gives it more contact surface. I have been building for a year now and used to have a 20 oz 15 inch hammer, and I must say I was scared at first to have such a big hammer at a greater weight, but you get use to it quite fast. Don't get this if you swing al day long, you will get tired, but if you are framing a house, chances are you will love this hammer for the price.

Estwing got it right on this one. It seems to take a lot of it's design from the Vaughan California framers with it's enlarged striking face and longer handle, and those are the benchmark for the industry. It's a near perfect weight for a framing hammer... put it along side one of those little 15oz "drives as good as a 28oz" titanium gimmicks and you'll see it blows them out of the water. Solid steel so it won't ever break on you. Darn near perfect framer.

Is an Estwing. There’s not too much to say about a hammer really, but as you would expect for the price, these are great. The long handle allows you to get momentum when driving home nails and the weight isn’t too heavy when considering the extra length. They take a little time to get used to when you have always been used to a lighter / shorter version but if you are doing a lot of first fix framing or roofing construction this is a must!

It's 18 inches long so if you hit something with it, it stays hit. Most UK framing hammers are 16 inches long so this takes a little getting used to.The large head is great, it thins down before the claws so not much use to bray nails in using the sides for those really tight spaces.I don't use it every day as I also bave a 20 ounce finishing hammer for most days but for framing and especially when I'm shuttering its a corker.

So far it's been a great hammer I use it everyday as a concrete form builder on a commercial construction it could have been a little thicker for more durability but I understand the reason as weight being a issue as time goes on I will update my post but I can add so far it performs perfectly for what I need

This is the only hammer my husband will use. It is pretty pricey and generally difficult to find. This transaction was quick and easy. Product meets his expectations. Product received within a reasonable amount of time and purchased at a reasonable price. Thanks!

Nice heavy solid striking hammer. Longer than most handle to give you a good strong swing to power in big nails or get things to move where you want them. Pretty good for tearing things up too like breaking bricks or knocking holes in concrete blocks.

She's a big beauty. I won't be swinging it for long periods, you'd need to be popeye for that.Disappointed in the paint tho, very poor finish for a brand like estwing. Expect it will age poorly too.I'd suggest buying the un-painted version.

I liked the colours, materials, and the steel is not too hard. The weight feels super in flight. A strong grip is required but once mastered you will be killing nail heads and knocking down walls with one swing. Go big, choke up if needed.

Real beast of a hammer. Packs a real punch for moving studs when framing, and the all steel construction means you don't need to worry about breaking handles when you over strike. It's a heavy hammer, but the balance is good.

I work in construction I’ve used several different hammers but out of all of them this is my favorite one the only thing I would change about it is I would make the claws a little longer

Used it for demolition of a basement. Greatest tool we had!Awesome leverage but leaves marks if you hammer a flat surface... maybe you could use it to tenderise meat ;p
