I am a retired joiner(well supposed to be retired but you never do completely) and I have had one of these hammers for nearly 40 years yes a long time. At first it was a little difficult to get use to as the shaft is shorter than most hammers. I soon got used to it but find I grip it right at the end of the shaft and find it perfect held like this. However if you are more used to longer shaft hammers you might finds it difficult to come to grips with (pun intended).There is another downside all be it a slight one in that the base of the shaft has a metal plate holding all the leather handle rings tightly in place.

I've been an amateur joiner for 30+ years and I've been using a Draper claw hammer I bought 30+ years ago. It worked perfectly well but I always promised my self that some day I'd treat myself to an Estwing. That time is now here and what a beautiful piece of work it is. When I first got it I was so impressed with the finish that I was loathe to use it in case it got scratched. Fortunately this soon passed and I've been hammering away merrily, finding excuses to hammer nails into everything. I Don't know if it's psychological but it feels so much surer and efficient than my old hammer. Since the introduction of battery guns screws seem to have replaced nails as the most widely used fixings now but I'm still very happy with my Estwing,

DONT go to screw fix in keighley as they dont seem to know what they are doing PAID for hammer as not in stock when i checked my receipt it said received they didnt know how to refund my money so as to print another receipt so i could collect next morning which i was told would be there for collection at 10_30 am i had to go back twice to collect it . i had checked availability before i went originally and the website said they had it in stock i got the feeling that the lad couldnt be bothered

The most beautifully balanced hammer I own, and simply the most beautiful too.I only use this hammer at home in my own hobby work shop. I'm a professional carpenter and my workaday hammer is 22oz straight claw estwing framing hammer that I feel naked without. Along with these 2 hammers I have various other estwing hammers.But when I'm working on some relaxing project at home this excellent piece of hammer heaven is what I want!

Arrived on time, well packed, I have had these hammers before, so I know what to expected. Very good quality tool and would recommend the tool and your service to friends and anybody else. As I have already said great valu.

i have had one of these hammers for 20 years and it just gets better the more you use it as the handle moulds to your hand. it has a lovely balance, i have just bought one for my apprentice, a tool to love.

Couln't believe this hammer was available at the price. High quality and will last a lifetime. Leather handle is good as well. Nearly bought another one because the price was so good. Splendid.

Hammer arrived today, speedy delivery, looks and feels beautiful, will have to see how it performs on site but very happy with it.

Good. However no rubber end of hitting in more delicate things. Also Handle wearing already and only a couple of months old.
