It's been a long while since I bought a new pair of compact binoculars (over 20 years) and there have been quite a lot of developments in optics technology since then - phase coatings on roof prisms, high-reflective dielectric prism coatings, full multi-coating of lenses. These binoculars ticked all the boxes for a possible replacement to my trusty old Leica 8x20B binoculars. They are also nitrogen filled and water-resistant - unlike my old Leicas. And they are good - very good, especially for the modest price, but comparing them side by side with my old Leicas, the Leicas are still better to look though - more information gets through to my eyes, details are just that little bit more noticeable. It's a subtle thing, and the view through these is excellent, but my old binoculars with their red circle logo are still just that little bit better - but then, they are now a lot more expensive.Construction-wise, these binoculars are very nicely made, and the dioptre adjustment is very well done. There is a very slight amount of backlash on the main focusing control, but it's not excessive. The fit and finish of the (magnesium) housing is also very good. The only obvious plastic component is the top cover of the bridge between the two tubes, but this is only a cover - it's not structural. The twist-up eyecups work well and give good eye relief to glasses wearers like me. The binoculars also come with a decent soft case and lens caps.To sum up - if you're in the market for some inexpensive, light, compact binoculars, these are good - very good indeed. There are better compact binoculars out there, but you'll have to spend quite a bit more money.

This is a great little monocular. I have a decent pair of binoculars for serious bird-watching, but wanted something that I could carry around with me without either weight or bulk. This monocular is tiny, but focuses both sharp and bright. The focusing is critical, and takes a bit of getting used to, but once focussed is excellent.

Mandobear itis not a binocular, you are on the wrong page. Anyway this a review on a monocular! Which I bought for birdwatching I have had a few over the years, but this is the best by far, small and compact and a light as a feather with crystal clear optics. Thank you Eschenbach. John currie.

A POCKET SIZED MONOCULAR THAT CAN BE USED ONE HANDED AND FIT INTO YOUR TOP POCKET. IT IS LIGHT AND COMES WITH CASE PLUS NECK CORD. GOOD VALUE WHEN BOUGHT ON TODAY'S DEALS PAGE.

Convenient size and clear view but focus slips if monocular moved from eye to hanging by cord.
